The Rising Sun in Sheffield

The Rising Sun pub had a lovely atmosphere, the interior was very nice, just like a rural pub! The cider selection was amazing and our meal was good, I'd suggest going a little earlier so you had more option on the limited menu! I would definitely recommend the pub to others.

Great pub grub and friendly welcome and great food and drinks

When we arrived we struggled to find any member of staff to tell us where our reserved table was. When we did find a member of staff, we didn't have a reserved table despite making the booking a couple of weeks ago and confirming by text the day before. It was steak night but nothing on the table to advise of the offer - only info for curry night (which is a different night) When the steak arrives, the server handed me the very hot plate and I burnt both my hands. The manager apologised but suggested no remedial action. The food itself - ironically with the plate being so hot - was cold and inedible. Chips and peas had clearly been sitting out for some time before being plated up

Louis was amazing. Friendly, kind to older people and gave our dog a treat! Great approach showing consideration and care for all customers.

Since moving here 5 years ago, this is by far our favourite pub. Great atmosphere, laid back music, lovely attentive staff who always make time for our doggos and good quality food. Oh and they do a great Guinness!! 😀

We booked a table for 12 and the pub didn't open until about 12.15. It should have been open at 11am. My friends ordered their food through their app and I went to the bar. From the first meal and last meal to come out there was a half an hour gap. And we had to chase drinks that had been ordered too. Another table close by also had issues with their food. We won't be returning.

Food was great, as always, though it wasn't clear from the menu what my vegan& gluten-free friend could eat. Staff tried to help but they were a bit unsure. Sorted it out eventually but this could have been better.

Group Xmas lunch ruined by very slow service due to lack of staff. 3 hours plus to serve pre-ordered food. Many of our meals dried out due to being on the hot plate too long. Could go on but no response from regional management despite filling in complaint form.

La red incluía pastel de pastores, queso y tocino hamburguesa y pollo schnitzel. Todo bien cocinado y muy sabroso. El servicio era excelente, el personal atento se aseguró de que todo estaba bien y mantuvo las bebidas recargadas.

Atmosphere and decor, really nice. Food was good, portions not very big. Food did take very long to arrive, about 30 minutes between starters and mains. Only two people serving and handling the bar, so not surprising.

Food ok, expensive for pub grub.

Arrived on spec & got shown to a table. We knew we were in for a treat with good food, as most of the tables were reserved & for a Wednesday lunchtime that's saying something. Bar staff were very friendly & polite & nothing was too much trouble even though they were busy. Food arrived in a timely manner, & was beautifully cooked & piping hot as it should be. Can thoroughly recommend the Shepherds Pie and the Steak & Guinness Pie. Big shout out to Al & Harrison in the kitchen, for excellent quality food especially when the place was packed. Will definitely be back.

Late home on Friday night and needed to find somewhere to unwind and grab a nice meal. Passed the Rising Sun which, by the looks of the car park was packed. Phoned and managed to book a table for two Warmly welcomed by Tim, Pat and the team. Great service and delicious dishes - rump steak, tandoori skewer and a couple of glass of wine for under £50

Lovely atmosphere and food. The staff really made a fuss of our dogs. Lovely touch with the dog biscuits. We had a roast beef dinner which was superb. I would highly recommend.

Wow!!!!! What a wonderful cute pub in a fantastic part of Sheffield. As soon as I walked in I had a very warm welcome from the team. We were all coming in for a drink but decided to all stay for food which was really lovely. I had the lamb koftas and cheese and bacon burger. Delicious. We will all definitely be back and I might bring my black lab as it’s very dog friendly. What a gorgeous place. ❤️

Lovely warm and friendly pub. Serving a wide and varied menu. Well cooked food at a very reasonable price by very friendly staff. I went for the two course curry night menu. £13 for chicken tandoori starter and lamb jalfrezi. Well done Ember Inns ,I,ll be back.

Popped in here for a quick pint on the way back from a Sunday stroll. Lovely cosy place and the beer tasted fresh and well kept. The young lady who served us was very friendly and helpful. We didn't have any food but the food coming out looked decent and smelt amazing. Would definitely recommend.

Sunday lunch was really lovely. Service was a tad slow, but the place was packed when we arrived. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, but the staff sorted it quickly. The staff were a bit abrupt in how they spoke to us, but I think that is because its too busy for the amount of staff they had on. The food was lovely.

Reasonably good value for a quick meal in a very pleasant building. But staff don't contribute to a pleasant experience - talking loudly to each other; chatting in group of 4 while customers waiting at the bar; untidy staff table with dishes left and clothes over chairs; robotic service with no sincere interest in customers. Very slack.

Small portions of food. Cold. Uninspiring. Rubbery, chewy 'Chicken Wings' Lamb Koftas? 🤣

I regularly meet up with friends here at the weekend, for a few pints and a natter. Since the refurbishment, the place has gone from strength to strength. I really like the selection of beers on offer, and it's always a good pint. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. I feel lucky to count this as one of my local pubs.

My family and I came for an evening meal tonight. We ordered a kids meal of burger and chips for my son. His came with only 10 chips on the plate. I politely asked for a few more chips for him but was told we'd have to buy them as a side as "the meal was to spec". Lol. Awesome service! I'm sure a few extra chips wasn't worth this review.

Greeted very well on arrival, the guy behind the bar was friendly and helpful in finding us a nice spot to sit. We ordered two spicy chicken burgers with chips and was expecting the wait time to be a while as it was quite busy but the food was out to us within 10-15minutes max. The food came and it tasted amazing, both meals piping hot, the burgers were well put together and melted in your mouth. We sat by the fire which was really nice and feels like a cosy place to go and enjoy some wintery food. I would highly recommend here if you want a nice meal at a reasonable price, as well as a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service.

Food takes a while to arrive. Average tasting. Service rough and ready (with exception of one person). No interest in the feedback re certain items. Not my cup of tea and am unlikely to return.

You can really tell this place has been updated, out front and in the back. Warm cosy atmosphere and a great pint. You can tell the kitchen has been overhauled too! Food was great. Very quick, generous portion and tasted unreal. I'd recommend The Rising Sun to everyone, wether you've never been before or been a million times. 10/10

Great little pub, cracking food nice selection of cask.

We visited twice in the past month. Once for an evening meal and once for lunch. Evening meal was great. Food was excellent and service was very good too. It was very busy but our food arrived in no time at all Lunch, however. Again, great food but the service wasn't great. Nobody came to collect empty plates/dishes untill the next course came out, which meant they'd got no space to put the food on our table. Also found it took a lot longer to receive our food despite it being a lot quieter.

Wanted a quiet area to meet with friends for a meal , table was ideal. Use a Birthday discount voucher I was sent to get 25% off the drinks.

I had two different experiences, the staff were very helpful and friendly. However, my food order was really poor, ordered a roast chicken. The chicken tasted old and was overpowered by bbq sauce which was unpleasant.

amazing service good food child friendly and dog friendly has a dog station with treats fresh water and dog bowls. A great selection of real ales all at reasonable prices.

arrived 1:20pm on wednesday, plenty of free tables, we ordered the three courses lunch under £12. all the ordered dishes were tasty. it was value for money

The service me and my wife received from Tom (hope I got that right) and the team on our last visit was outstanding! Quick service, happy staff and high quality food. What more can we ask for. Will be paying a visit again.

Lovely food, very clean pub both inside and out, staff are great! Food served in great time, looked lovely and cooked very well. The gardens are well cared for and large enough for children to run around in! All round a lovely pub with a great atmosphere.

Having pre booked lunch with 4 colleague. My Lasagna was sent out burnt black. After managing to get the waitresses to replace the meal she brought the replacement after several minutes drop it on the table and left leaving no cutlery. I feel both manager and waitress could really do with attending course on good customer services. After using the restaurant to meet up on several previous occasions I think that this new management is not a patch on the previous management. We will not be returning and would never recommend this restaurant. I have only given 1 star because I could not leave none.

A great pub with delicious food and really good service. We held a leaving so here for a large number of people. The buffet was varied and tasty, the atmosphere welcoming and relaxed and the service was excellent. (Molly was particularly helpful.)

Always 5 star, new Assistant Manager Tom, what an asset. He's so good with customers, he went out of his way to chat and interact with a special needs customer. He should be proud of himself. Ember Inns, this man is destined for greater things

Lorraine, Molly and Tom were on their game and exceeded our expectations. Service with a smile and some dry wit rolled in for good measure. Food was excellent as were the drinks. We'll be back yet again.

We had our Wedding Party at the Rising Sun on Saturday 18th May and it was wonderful. The staff (Mark and Lorraine) went out of their way to make sure that everything was perfect for us and all of our guests. The food was excellent and plentiful, and our toast glasses constantly refreshed.

The food and drinks was beautiful. Really nice and thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to the lovely chefs and thanks to Molly and the boss I was presuming that brought the drinks over. Due to myself forgetting you had to go to bar.

Sensibility priced food, good service, nice atmosphere. Nothing needs improving.

My wife and i thought we'd try the Rising Sun for a change. Everything was OK except for my steak on my mixed grill. I asked for medium but it was really well done like chewing a Wellington boot and my wife had the Duo which is half a chicken and gammon but she only got a chicken leg, apart from that spot on

An hour wait for main course. Not particularly busy when we arrived. Almost all items on lunch menu out of stock! Nachos amazing but main courses (our 2nd choice as all first choices unavailable) ok but not really what we expected. Small bits of over cooked breaded chicken in a ciabatta that was too big for the portion of chicken. Wasn't worth the wait. Won't be hurrying back!

The food is amazing very fast service and really good price for what you get, the staff seem really friendly and go out their way to help whenever you need it

Myself and my partner have just been for Sunday lunch. My partner had the beef dinner and I had chicken. The beef was lovely however the vegetables were hard. Wrong side of aldente. Yorkshire and roasties were fine. My chicken was tasty but tough. I had spring cabbage, leeks and peas which were lovely. Having finished our main, we were left with the dirty plates on the table for over 15 minutes, to the point where I became annoyed and had to physically ask a member of staff to clear our table and find out where our dessert was. 10 minutes later, what can only be described as a dish of mush, pretending to be Apple and blackberry crumble, was served to my partner. My Eton Mess Sundae was ok. Sadly a disappointing experience.

Staff were very friendly, bathrooms are clean and the atmosphere of the restaurant is great, very cozy and adorably decorated! I ordered the burger which was pretty bland but good and fries which were nice as well. Would come again!
