Food was better than expected and very good. Bar person was exceptional, attentative and efficient.

Only went for the food van in the car park

As an adult family, we often frequent pubs in the area to celebrate birthdays. The Rising Sun was one we booked for my Mum and Dad’s Anniversary. It’s very dog friendly with two loveable labradors as the pub’s dogs (?). The Summer evening meant that a lot of its patrons were outside enjoying the sun in the pub garden. Once the sun started to set, inevitably it got very loud and boisterous and we quickly made our exit as it wasn’t conducive to table conversation anymore. Overall, the pub isn’t one to be famed for its food, but the service of the landlady (we think!) who went above and beyond, and simple menu did its job. Definitely a pub for drinking, but we enjoyed our time there nonetheless.

Swung by for supper. Good bar and prompt polite service. Food what you'd expect for the price 👍 the sweaty 🥵 chef/waitress was showing way to much flesh ........that comment was made by my husband 🤣🤣🙄 but we will be back. - thanks

Food was nice and staff friendly, nice log fire. But it was VERY noisy - loud music playing, and near us there was a table of young men talking very loudly, with lots of swearing thrown in, so I don't recommend it for a quiet evening out!

Friendly local pub good food too

Love this pub, fab food and friendly atmosphere.

Went for a sunday roast and got to say it was very nice though one of the veg was beetroot which I hate though my wife loves it!! The portions were generous and well cooked. As for the pub itself l have got to say the staff were friendly and the ambiance was great. Well done to everyone!

This is a real pub with real people, very friendly and very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit.

Decent plate of food, no frills, helpful staff. Dog friendly, pool table, just a pub with food and urinals upcycled into plant pots.

Fine for a reasonable priced meal. Good range of beers. Nice outside area and excellent parking.

Friendly staff and perfect for parties, but local will eat food at the party even that they are not in the party group.

Pop in on most weekends after our walk with our labradoodle, friendly welcoming pub, great pub food, clean, tidy and a happy atmosphere always, worth a visit any day

My wife and I met family here for drinks and a chat. Great local pub with a very friendly landlady. We will try the food out next time we visit, and well behaved dogs are welcome.

Very unpleasant experience. My beefburger was completely raw inside and had to be recooked. The steak (questionable) had a foul taste and for the first time ever, my husband did not eat it. After very quietly and discretely saying to Lyn the meal was not good we were told to "just get out". I don't think we will be returning.

Just popped in on off chance,lady behind the bar was amazing,food was amazing and the ale Buttcombe was sublime,also very pet friendly, would highly recommend this place ❤️

The Sunday lynch is very good and the staff are very helpful

Good value sausage & chips in a basket lunch - 3 fat sausages and plenty of chips for £6, and I recommend the cheese option if you're really hungry (50p). Excellent cheery service from the barmaid.

Not great think I got food poisoning only thing I ate yesterday ended up with dyheara.

A pub I used to frequent a few years ago - its gone through an almost a complete makeover , internally and externally - very much for the better. Good menu , good pricing, super staff and seems a popular venue. They'll be a lot more frequent visits 🍻 👏

First visit and found brilliant food plus friendly helpful staff who bent over backwards to accommodate wifes diet Will be back

Fantastic outside facility, great staff plus the landlord/Landlady will make you feel very welcome. The locals are friendly and they don't bite, motorcycle friendly.

Very pleasant owners, kept warm with open fires, as a pub should be, food very nice but go careful, I struggled to finish my chicken wrapped in bacon must have been a whole breast,with a choice of sauces, plenty of filling in the jacket potatoe, would recommend a visit

A friendly welcome awaits at this wonderfully well run establishment. The beer is always good and so are the freshly cooked meals. If you enjoy good beer, food and banter then this is the place for you.

We went in on New Years Eve and had a few over a couple of hours, friendly welcome and a nice coal fire to sit by. It does need more locals to go there.

Friendly staff, lovely refurbished interior and plenty of space out the front and a covered smoking area at the back. Also has its own car park, a pool table, Sky TV, board games and a kebab van directly outside for food.

Very welcoming and trendy looking pub. Some good bands upcoming. Let's drink.
