Firstly i want to say, the staff here are super friendly! we talked for ages! Having lived in Amesbury for a few years now, the only other fish and chip shop we tried was Harlees's and was really let down by the quality and portion sizes there. Having tried Amesbury Fish Bar, what can i say it really was brilliant. The portion sizes were really plentiful. We ordered Saveloys, which offcourse are a must at any Fish and Chip shop, Battered sausage which also is a must have and two porrtions of chips, they were absolutely massive 100% you get your monies worth. Everything is cooked to order, to a high standard. Lastly, get an extra curry sauce. You will not be disappointed. (which the lovely staff convinced me to get, as she said I would not be disappointed) Will be ordereing from here again, probably the best in Amesbury price wise and quality.

Friendly welcome, food cooked fresh and tasted delicious (curry sauce yum!). Reasonably priced. Will return!

Very friendly staff. First time eating from here and no complaints about the fish and chips we had! The Chinese curry sauce was delicious. Some of the best we've had locally.

Fish was great with crispy batter. Chips were terrible, not edible at all. They appeared blistered and were hard and chewy. They went in the bin.

I feel bad posting this review but need to let others know of the experience as I don’t believe this chippy to be fully deserving of its rating. Despite the staff being extremely friendly, the place was empty when we arrived. We carried on, and ordered a battered sausage, chips, curry sauce and some salt and pepper wings. Alarm bells started ringing when we heard the microwave going and some smacking of frozen items against the counter in the back. After waiting a short while, we got the food and headed home with brilliant smells. Opened up, and things went downhill. The chips were a weird brown colour, tough, and lukewarm. The curry sauce had already congealed over the trip home. The battered sausage was hidden under the chips, and was hot, but extremely soggy. There was no crispy batter at all and it was incredibly greasy. The wings were hot and crispy (a positive!) but had an odd taste to them but after one bit we realised they were still raw in the middle. I wish I had taken photos of the items to post, but I do feel bad as the man and woman behind the counter were extremely friendly. There are much better chip shops in the area, and I would not recommend heading here unfortunately.

Both of us had Haddock and chips, and while the fish was nice, the chips were uneatable. They were hard and chewy as though they had been reheated from the night before. Would not recommend as they are not worth the money.

Tonight was my first visit to Amesbury Fish Bar and I wish I had tried it sooner! Shu was very lovely and welcoming, explaining that she always accepts card/contactless payment and also provides an express delivery service which I wasn't aware of. I really liked the idea that they "don't sell fast food, they sell good food as fast as they can" - my entire order was obviously very fresh and it definitely makes a trip to the chippy more worthwhile. Prices are very competitive and Shu explained that she doesn't want to raise prices because it's not fair on her loyal customers. The homemade Chinese style curry sauce was absolutely delicious - highly recommend it! I look forward to returning and filling up my loyalty card whenever we fancy a takeaway from now on 😁

Expensive fish and awful chips. Lady who served me was nice but we won't be going back.

The best fish and chips had since The Brendon arms in Bude. The cod was tasty, the batter was lovely, chips were delicious too... though the portions were huge haha. Curry sauce had a real kick. The battered sausages were a hit too. Definitely be back again. Lovely lady serving too. Also cook fresh dim sum, homemade spring rolls and chicken wings in various flavours. Everything is freshly cooked to order.

Fantastic fish and chips! Fish is cooked perfectly and chips are seasoned well. Owners are so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend to anytime in the Amesbury area :))

The fish was cooked from fresh and was very nice, but the chips were very strange. My husband and I couldn't work out what it was as they seemed cooked inside but not cooked on the outside. The service was good, but they definitely need to assess the way the chips were cooked

Two times fish and chips with home made curry sauce. The fish was light and fluffy with golden crispy batter. The chips were real potato 🥔 also well cooked, light brown and enjoyabley eaten. The home made sauce is smooth, not hot and flavourless but hot, spicy and smooth. Value for money and no doubt a return visit to take place in the very near future. G&B W.

We drive all the way from Devizes to get our takeaway, reasons why, nicely cooked food. Welcoming staff. Cod Roe and Klondikes (Potato Fritters) Yum yum.

Food was fantastic, all very fresh, staff were lovely and didn't feel like I was waiting long. Would highly recommend!

Amesbury fish bar has the most perfect chip, savaloy is great and the only place around that sells it. Fresh cooked to order food, family run. A long time favourite.

Fish was fresh but very small. Chips re-fried and all very greasy.

Friendly funny staff but gave me yesterdays chips refried, the cod and chips made me feel sick and ill after.

I go to a lot of different fish and chip shops around the country and this is my favourite love their chips

1st time eating from here Fish was delicious chips over done for my liking and quite pricy but lovely counter staff

wow couldn’t recommend this chippy enough! Sue and her family are are so kind and accommodating to my dietary requirements and you can tell they really care about all their customers. Sues vegetable spring rolls are to die for and a recommendation for the veggies out there. Will definitely will be coming back again and again as it’s the best chip shop in the Amesbury area!

Sorry will not be going again, ring Friday lunch time asking for 10 oap fish & chips for Saturday to be picked up at 12.15, I had to wait for it to be cooked by the time we got it and delivered to the OAP it was late, I had a lot of complaints to greasy so we going back to kingfish in Durrington

Decided to treat ourselves this evening and the chips I've had in a long time with ENORMOUS portion size. Really friendly staff and delicious curry sauce.

Always a generous portion reasonable prices never had any problems lamenting the fact they are closed 😭😭😭😭

Unfortunately they don't follow their stated ethic of "we don't cook fast food just good food cooked as fast as we can" and "food cooked to order". Our chips had not been fully cooked through even at the time when they were first cooked, they were cold, soggy and excessively greasy. The jumbo sausage was armour plated and the beef and onion pie chewy. Not going back although the staff were friendly!
