a great local takeout with a large selection of dishes and lovely staff who knows their menu inside out. the food is tasty and also great value for money - we spent less than £20 and took home 2x well sized main dishes, a rice, an appetiser, prawn crackers and some fortune cookies! sincerely recommend - but remember they’re cash only!

Best value this side of town. Food is prepared fast and freshly made. You must try their Sweet and Sour Chicken dumplings ( NON hong Kong style ones). They are wonderfully doughy and tasty. Add them as a side dish to your normal order. We always get them. *Not open on Mondays* Cash Only

I was very disappointed with the set meal I purchased. Ihave not had a takeaway since before the first lock down in 2020 when I used rising sun before & was very pleased with their food. So didn't hesitate to choose them as 1st choice when we decided on a takeaway. But I was soooo disappointed with the set meal I ordered to the point it had to be binned. The rice was soggy, the chicken balls were not freshly cooked, there was barely any beef in the beef & mushroom. The ribs were tough. The chips were way overdone & scrappy. The only thing I enjoyed was the mushrooms which was with the beef. Such a shame but won't be using them again.

DO NOT BUY FISH AND CHIPS FROM HERE! I went to get f&c from the Ashley Down Fish and Chip shop next door but unfortunately it was closed. I'd promised my kids I'd get them some so took a punt on The Rising Sun. I really regret it as it went straight in the bin and now I'm hungry and out of pocket. The batter on the fish was about 15mm thick, rock hard on the outside but somehow raw and uncooked/soggy on the inside. The fish was weird, not flaky like most white fish should be but of a mushy consistency. Maybe it had been frozen weirdly or something, it definitely wasn't cooked from fresh. It was also sticky to touch. It tasted like it had been fried up in a wok with the same oil as the last dish that had been made maybe? The sausages were standard cheap chip shop fayre but again the battered ones were rock hard. Just about edible if I pulled the batter off. Chips were hard and dry. Curry sauce was ok. I can see from other reviews that the Chinese food here is very good and I just wish I'd ordered that instead. Sorry guys but maybe stick to the Chinese stuff and get rid of the chip shop fayre off the menu?

Always super fast, suoer tasty and great value for money. Won't find a better Chinese around Bristol. I'd know 😏

Definitely a case of looks are deceiving... Great little local Chinese takeaway offering an impressive variety of affordable dishes. Service is friendly, food quality good and always quick to prepare.

Love this Chinese!! Very fresh, absolutely delicious and excellent value for money. Especially recommend the veg spring rolls and mushroom curry!

I used to live on the same street as this Chinese and I’ve missed it since moving a few miles away to st George. I was in the area looking at a car and decided to have a pint in the lazy dog and couldn’t resist getting some food from here. All in all the price is amazing for what you get and the food just tastes genuine and authentic. Absolutely smashed down the special Szechuan and egg fried rice!

This is hands down, the best value take away in the area. Having started going there as a student, now I take my kids there ! Theyve been going for ages and have never changed the name . That, speaks volumes.

Worst place to go for quick fish and chips when on the road, fish was so slimy with extra thick crispy drenched in oil batter, chips was extremely dry and covered in grease (dripping off) hard. Curry’s sauce tasted like some weird gone off goo. Not sure what flavour they were going for. it felt like I drank a bottle of oil.. I had to stop half way. Thanks but no thanks Customer service on point tho very nice and welcoming shame the food didn’t go with that experience.

I've been going to this place for the last 20 years,in my view is one of the best Chinese takeaways in bristol cheap and generous very tasty food,seriously..

No-nonsense Chinese takeaway with a broad range of remarkably cheap and filling dishes. The food here isn't the best Asian food in the city by any stretch, but it's well flavoured and is liked by several of my friends who grew up in Malaysia and Singapore. It's not spicy but is a bit heavy on msg, however always has plenty of meat in the large portions. The biggest selling point is the price, I don't know how they keep going on such cheap prices but I'm very greatful!

In my 34 years it's fair to say Ive had a few takeaways. Since moving to Ashley down though I have to say the rising sun can't be beaten for price, speed and taste. Always quick service with tasty food at a price you'd think your stealing from them 👌👍

I liked the friendly welcome the owners give u. I lived 1 min away from the place and would order fish and chips. Shame that they don't put salt and vinegar on them
