We were served by Yusef and he made the experience really welcoming and lovely, making sure he’s doing a top job. Hope he serves us again. And the food was delicious per usual. Great evening celebrating my brothers birthday :)

Yousef served us, he was an absolute pleasure and a great waiter! Really happy with the meal, the best food I’ve had in a while.

We visited for an ad-hoc mid-week meal and the service was pleasant enough and the atmosphere buzzing, but while the tuna to start was excellent, we both ordered homemade pizzas and they were both 'floppy', undercooked and pretty much tasteless, resulting in us leaving them almost untouched. When I mentioned this to our waiter, he said, "Sorry, I'll pass your comments onto the kitchen", but there was no mention of it afterwards, the matter wasn't addressed and there was no allowance for two wasted meals on the bill, in fact, it was really quite obvious that they didn't give a damn and for this reason, we'll not be returning. It's not a cheap restaurant at all and to be honest, I expected far better, but this sums up hospitality these days in a lot of places, (not everywhere), as they're so busy trying to pay their bills and cut costs, service levels have become diluted, a great shame.

Excellent Italian dishes in an intimate pub atmosphere.

Every dish was delicious. Particularly enjoyed the truffle pasta and pistachio cheesecake

Compact restaurant pub with lots of character and low ceilings. Italian inspired food, tasty and well cooked. Also have roasts on Sunday, the lamb was plentiful and tasty albeit quite pricey, but quality was worth it. A few steps around the place so tread with care. We were in the snug, which is good for a small private group.

Outstanding Italian restaurant set in a pub in Mill Hill. It may seem pricey but you get exactly what you pay for. Ideal for a special treat. The service is outstanding but the food is even better!

The staff were loverly and although there was a mix up with my order after some discussion things were sorted amicably. The food was very tasty but expensive I feel for the setting.

I had a really nice lunch here with my family. Bread, pizza, pasta and deserts were all excellent. Very friendly and competent service.

Sunday Roast was exquisite!! We had the lamb and nut roast, cooked perfectly, great potatoes and a decent portion size. Very impressed, A+.

Really good food served by amazingly attentive staff. We went as a large pre booked party (35 people) in the marquee and the experience was great, will definitely be going back.

How have I not heard about the word ‘assaggi’ until now!? I’m still sure if it’s the same as primi, or primo, but it comes before the secondi. And there was no primo on the menu. If I’m hitting secondi, then I’m for sure hitting primi first. And a primi is only a primi if followed by a secondi. But does an assaggi slot in between them? Or is it a cheeky assaggi before your primi?? Like a primi to your primi 🤯 Either way, I’m going assaggi the hell out of some primi before I assaggi me some secondi. And that means a return to the rising sun heyoooooo. Deep fried pasta triangles of assaggi goodness… stop it! 🤤🤤🤤

Me and my partner have visited The Rising Sun on many occasions and we have always had a 10/10 experience. The owners and staff are always very welcoming and friendly and the food never disappoints. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone I know.

Firstly, the food here is delicious! Very good value set lunch menu (2 courses for £22.50 or 3 for £27.50) with a nice variety of dishes. The papardelle ragu was excellent, as was the chicken milanese and the accompanying spaghetti pomodoro. The apple crumble was really really good. The only marks lost on food are for the pork belly bites - far too sweet a sauce and far too much of the sauce. Nice wines and several at surprisingly good prices. The atmosphere was very good too. Service wasn't bad, just a bit amateurish, but nobody was over the age of 19 (at a guess), which might explain that. I imagine evenings are staffed more fully.

Very good meal, we had the arancini, beef carpaccio with truffle, ravioli with truffle, butter and sage, and strips of fillet steak coated with Asian dressing and toasted sesame seeds. Everything was tasty and up to par. The beef carpaccio was exceptional. The fillet steak's Asian dressing was too overpowering and would suggest a more delicate amount of dressing in order to appreciate the flavours the steak and fresh salad had to offer. We finished off by sharing a chocolate brownie with ice cream. £6 for a bottle of water is steep, even for the area. Service was excellent. Interior part of the restaurant is very beautiful and elegant however there was a private party so we sat in the gazebo area. Overall, very genuine flavours and will be back!!

Very rude front of house. We have requested a table inside over a week ago, while we arrived, they arranged us to sit in a garden tent, with a big birthday party table next to us. It was so loud that we couldn’t talk to each other. Very bad experience.

Excellent. You will not be disappointed. Just be aware there isn't much parking and it's very popular!

We had a lovely lunch today. We had 2 sunday roasts (1 beef and 1 lamb) and also pasta and risotto dishes, all were delicious. The staff were attentive and the dining rooms are really pretty, we were in the garden room which was lovely.

Lovely family run restaurant with amazing food and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. All the staff were super friendly and the owner, Matty, made us feel like we had come to dine in his home. Highly recommend it and I’ll definitely be going back!

I was told about The Rising Sun by my neighbour, we had always seen it but never thought to pop in. Today we bit the bullet and thought "why not?!" and we are SO glad we did. I had the house bread and garlic green beans (out of this world flavour!) My husband had a pasta dish which he said was 10/10! Staff are really attentive but not too overbearing and I really really cannot wait to be back! I'll get the tiramisu next time!

Sunday lunch today was fantastic. The beef was cooked to perfection (medium) with a great Yorkshire and really delicious gravy (we asked for more which was accommodated). Desserts, as you would expect from an Italian restaurant, are prepared onsite too and while my tiramisu was great the pistachio cheesecake was just perfection on a dessert plate. After tasting it my food envy levels went through the roof. Great staff and relaxed dining room made it perfect.

Incredible food and service. Would highly recommend anytime throughout the week, though the Sunday roast is excellent!

We went here last Saturday night. We unfortunately had a waitress who was rude and actually pretty useless. We ordered a £52 bottle of wine, which was poured straight into our glasses without any sampling to see if corked. We let that go. After the meal we ordered hot drinks, when served we were informed the table was now needed. We complained to the manager. Apologies were made and we were moved to the marquee. It’s a shame as the food was good. I’m afraid apologies in this case was just not good enough

This place could be amazing but it’s less than average. The food is good - can recommend the beef carpaccio, it’s so tasty - the service while the staff is very kind and polite, it is not always top notch. If you book when bad weather, ensure you ask to seat in the main dining floor cause you might end up forgotten in the outdoor (covered) area. Very overpriced for the location and the quality.

The food was good but not the best pizza and pasta I had in London and the prices are too high for what the place offered. As a plus, They have private parking.

Always a good meal here. Beautiful flavours, well presented. Attentive and friendly staff. Sat outdoors which was initially quite noisy with some children running around but within 15minutes they had left. Blankets were brought out when the temperature dropped. Drinks and food alike were great.

Pasta was wonderful. Service was lovely. The pork ribs was also quite delicious and tender.

Beer expensive more a restaurant than a pub garden small and noisy by road

Having just had the most amazing birthday celebration for my wife, thanks to the Rising Sun, I felt I needed to write a review to thank them for being so special. Food... amazing! The atmosphere so warm its like visiting your family's restaurant and wine list ticks all of the boxes. The Tiramisu birthday cake was so good, I was a hero for just pre-ordering it. It is rare to find a wonderful family owned restaurant like this, where you feel like part of the family. Everything about the Rising Sun just works.

Menu limited and expensive for what it is... no Pizza Menu available on Tuesday but nothing I can find on the website or menu to inform of this.

Excellent pub but pricey great family run Italian restaurant.

Arrived there after a walk through the fields. We seated in the outside heated tent (a bit annoying to be in front of the opening tho). Food tasted really nice, the fried pizza was amazing. Little side notes: 1) it took me ages fo digest the pizza even if we walked after 2) 6£ for a bottle of water it's a bit steep, even for the area. Okay that it's acqua panna, but c'mon, that's a robbery.

Reviewing as a pub - didn't eat in, though the food smelled good. But £7 for a pint of Neck Oil and a limited range of beer of tap meaning that was the best option? Doubt I'll be back at those prices - that's worse than central London.

Yummy beef roast and the pistachio cheesecake is to die for! I think quite possibly the best cheesecake I’ve ever eaten! The service was also great, the staff all so friendly and accommodating in there. This will be our regular local for a roast going forwards!

Was a little disappointed with the service. Came for lunch today (Saturday) at midday, so it was quiet. There were plenty of spaces in the car park but I was told quite rudely to move my car by a member of staff who was using a leaf blower to clear the car park - surely that should have been done before the restaurant opened? We were the only people in the restaurant, and had to keep finding the waiter to order and eventually gave up at the end of our meal and got up to pay at the bar. It seemed like there was a staff meeting going on during lunch service, which I felt was a little inappropriate given that there are customers around. All in all, I felt like a bit of a burden rather than a valued customer. The meal wasn’t cheap either! But very good, I must say, and that’s why I gave three stars.

Overall very good. Good decor and has a village pub feel. Friendly staff Starters, main and desert were all nice. Made a booboo with one of the orders but life would be boring if everything went to plan... The marquee was nice and toasty when I checked it out even though it was crisp around 6pm. Well done to the team. Looking forward to returning. It's hard running a good food place but It would be great if 1. The chairs were a little more comfortable 2. Warm rooms but need ventilation/ fresh air and helps with different foods being brought out so somebody may not like the smell of a plate being brought out for another table. 3. When ordering pizza and we asked for extra plates before hand as pizza gets cold quickly, plus where we sat, they must have come from another kitchen into the outside gully and then come to us as they were slightly warm. We like the cheese to be bubbling and eat immediately when piping hot. It took a few minutes to get the plates by which time the pizzas were warm to cold. A little disappointed but they were tasty. A little more finely chopped toppings would be good for an even spread of the pizza. 4. Toilets could be much cleaner 5. Maybe there should be one or two disabled parking slots but upto management to decide. Enjoy & look forward to reading your reviews

What a treat, new on the menu polenta is to die for. Very well thought out dishes, good wine selection and fab service. Love it.

Great food like really amazing but very expensive

Excellent. Went for a friend's surprise 40th, and the staff were excellent, the food was fab, and overall everyone had a perfect night. Slightly tight in the car park on the way out but that's a minor quibble!

Very tasty meal & wide ranging menu.

Food was excellent and what really impressed me was that despite the young age of the staff they were so polite and well trained. I had one of the staff apologise for leaning over me. Normally I only get such apologies in top end restaurants. Good choice of veggie food and the pizzas are to die for. My first visit but would defo go again. I am disabled and luca (the manager I'm assuming) couldn't have gone more out of his way to ensure I had parking as close as possible to the entrance. Very easy pub to find as well. Relaxed atmosphere where we were not rushed at all.

Love this place….friendly staff and good service

What to say? I came here with my partner for a meal and reserved the Garden Room because it sounded lovely. When we arrived we were bluntly told that we wouldn’t be in the Garden Room but in a marquee outside. There was no explanation as to why and no apologies given. The service was slow and the staff weren’t very attentive. My meal was fine but the portion was ridiculously small and neither the size nor quality justified the hefty price tag on it. And, paying over £100 for a meal out, I’d at least expect the service to match the prices. We had asked a waitress for the bill, but, in the meantime, another waiter came over — no greeting or anything — and put the bill in front of me. He said he needed the table back — again, no “sorry for the inconvenience,” just a blunt statement followed by a rude stare. We had already asked for the bill, which I suppose he wasn’t aware of. There were plenty of other diners that had stayed longer than us (and we would’ve been out sooner had the service been better). All in all, a disappointing evening and a waste of money. I felt hungry right after I left due to the small portions and I was taken aback by how blunt and unapologetic the staff were. If you want a nice meal in Mill Hill, you’re better off going to BANK (or even to Mani & Nick’s, which is a fraction of the price!). I’m glad we visited as we’d passed it a few times. But, I don’t plan on visiting again any time soon and it definitely won’t be on my recommendations!

This has always been a fantastic establishment, but in recent years they have taken it to a whole new level. The service was impeccable and the food seems to have somehow got even better lately! Highly recommended! We were here for a function and were extremely well looked after, with a great setup outside.

This is not a review about the indoor experience or the food. This is a review about the reservation policy. You HAVE to give your credit card details to reserve and the restaurent will debit £25 per people if you cancel within 24hrs of your booking or if you are 15 minutes late to your booking. I would maybe expect that from a highly renowned or michelin star restaurant but not from some basic corner of a street regular pub. Often those petty attempts to extract money from people is a reflection of poor management and can impact the workforce, the food and the overall experience. I will chose with my money and go to the next corner pub. London has plenty of those. If you have read my review to the end I suggest you do the same and fight back against these petty practices. By the way, when I need to cancel a booking I always do with at least 24 hrs of notice. This policy doesn't affect me, but the fact that a compagny needs to threaten me with money to come eat their food bothers me a lot. Peace out ✌️

Looks tiny from outside, but has a lovely marquee with outdoor dining, all beautifully lit with fairy lights. Good outdoor space too, separate from marquee for drinks. Really cosy inviting atmosphere inside. Very quaint. Lovely staff. Especially owner Mattheo. Only had drinks so far, but great choice of spirits. And menu looks lovely, so returning shortly for food.
