The service provided was excellent, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was delightful. Italian music was playing in the background, which added to the ambiance. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the Northwest region.

Bought 2 pizzas, very accommodating as I was with 2 children. Decently priced, thin crusted pizzas. The menu has many pasta and starter items too although the childrens menu is only a basic pasta dish.

I had a profoundly disappointing experience at Mascalzone restaurant, a place frequently visited by me. Yesterday I was treated with disrespect by the waitstaff where rudely asked me to settle my bill and vacate my table simply because I was dining alone(this time),while a couple waited for an empty table(while more than half restaurant was empty). How embarrassing, congratulations!👏🏼 I never expected this kind of behaviour in special from an Italian restaurant and it’s first time when this happens to me all across Europe, ridiculous. This discriminatory behavior left me feeling unwelcome and undervalued as a customer and in same time reflects poorly on the restaurant's values and professionalism. Dining out should be a pleasant and inclusive experience for all patrons, regardless of their party size but it’s look like Mascalzone restaurant failed to uphold this principle. SHAME!

I like this restaurant, but I don't like the 10% service charge added to the bill which isn't a tip for the staff. When you pay they ask if you want to give an additional tip. This is extortionate. So from now on I will never pay the 10% service charge because it's not a tip to the hard working staff. I will still pay the tip. Food is usually delicious.

RUINED MOTHERS DAY THANKS TO THE RUDE STAFF AND BRAINLESS MANAGER. My husband and I went to Mascalzone to celebrate Mother's Day with my mum and mum-in-law, and our dads. The waitress with frizzy curly hair came to take our order, so we gave her our starters order. We hadn't decided our mains at this point as we wanted to have the starters first and then decide our mains afterwards. She wasn't shy to show her rude characteristics as she walked away from our table and said she'll come back when we have decided our mains. She refused to put our starters order until we decided our mains! Never been to a restaurant this ridiculous before. A better thing to say is take your time I'll put these through for now and come back for your mains, and explain why they needed the mains right away. When we asked why she needed both, she said they were too busy and therefore needed the entire order from the beginning. This was utter nonsense as half the restaurant was empty. We asked for some chilli oil as both my parents and in-laws love spicy food and we wanted them to have their best day ever. When we asked for a top up and they told us they charge £5 for extra chilli oil and only give one free per table. This was the shocking as I understand charging for sauces like 'homemade pesto', but chopping up some chillies and sticking them in oil does NOT justify charging an extortionate £5, so we asked why they charge so much. The curly haired waitress started getting extremely rude at this point. When my husband calmly asked her "we are two families here, if we split the table we're technically 2 tables, can we then get one extra chilli oil" she downright ignored him. He asked why she didn't answer him, she kept ignoring him. At this point we decided their service is unacceptable and extremely RUDE! When the bill came we said we do not want to pay the service charge. The man manager came over and started arguing with my husband and refusing to accept that we didn't want to pay the service charge. Firstly he should have come and asked us what the problem was. Instead he jumped to the conclusion that we were only upset about paying extra for the chilli oil, and then kept pushing us to pay the service charge and told us it's paying the staffs wages. My husband asked the manager if he isn't paying the staff well, and he didn't have a great response. Sorry but the UK has a legal minimum wage that must be paid to staff. We assumed that the manager isn't paying the legal minimum wage to his staff needs and therefore push customers to pay. This can turn into a legal issue for that man. We are sad that this is how we ended mother's day on such a low all thanks to this atrocious man. Does he argue with all customers who ask to remove the OPTIONAL service charge I wonder. If the service was even fractionally satisfactory we wouldn't think twice about paying a service charge or leaving a tip. But if the head staff are rude, and then the manager wants to come and start yelling at us in front of all other diners, he is simply making a mockery of himself in front of everyone. The conversation between my husband and manager got very heated and it was frankly VERY awkward for our Mother's, the other Mother's in the restaurant and all other customers sitting around us. The food here is average and there are MANY better Italian restaurants around Edgware and Finchley. Mascalzone isn't the first or the last restaurant, and they need to stop treating their customers with so much disrespect and realise the are not all that great and worth bragging about. Never recommend it to anyone again.

Found the staff specially the one in charge of booking tables to be very rude. She booked a table for us on call, and when we were there at the restaurant she just denied the booking and was very rude. She made us feel obliged that she gave us a table. Also later she wasn’t accommodating at all for some minor customizations in the food. Food was ok. The other staffs were accommodating. But overall I won’t recommend for a great experience.

Excellent quality of food and great service. Good choice and cocktails were exceptional! Lovely atmosphere and really nice decor. Very family friendly. Big parking space just around the corner. Definitely recommend for everyone who fancy Italian food.

Pizza has changed was very soggy even though stone baked... disappointed it was all caked in oil and impossible to chew or cut.

They charged me for tip once and they ask if you want to leave a tip when settling the bill. I didn't know that there was a service fee included first, so I unknowingly tipped the waitress two times. I ordered pasta with salmon. Definitely not a good choice.

An Italian restaurant with a fantastic modern twist with the decor keeping to the Italian theme. Staff are pleasant, and service was timed perfectly not to feel rushed. The food is excellent and perfectly cooked. Parking is either on the street or in the local shopping centre, which is chargeable (currently £1 for 3 hours) but cheap enough not to worry about finding a place on the street.

Good choice of pasta dishes. Polite efficient staff. Good ambience and decorations. Large space with large glass surfaces to station road. Easy to get to, close to Edgware underground. Normal prices. One of the best restaurants in the area. An enjoyable evening out.

A great choice for those who appreciate tasty food, part of a various menu to satisfy everyone's taste. We had a great meal and the service was wonderful. I recommend it.

I am a regular at this sweet restaurant. my favourite pizza is Nettuno, the tuna and onions topping very tasty and the chef prepares a nice rustic crispy pizza base. next time i will try some fish dishes. I like to add some garlic oil on top. This pizza reminds me of my time living in South of France. During xmas I ordered the Chicken Caprese. wow, such good flavour in the sauce and piping hot! thank you!!

So we traveled to London for my sons 9th birthday . We decided not to eat in Central London as it was too busy. We made our way to Edgeware and decided to eat here. Unfortunately we did not book but they made room for us and provided great service with amazing food. The staff were so friendly and respectable despite the place being so so busy and to finish the evening off my son was provided dessert and a birthday song played for him. He was delighted and it really made his day special . I would defiantly recommend this place to eat . Thank you so so much.

I would say the pizza Regina wasn't great, instead the stew seafood was amazing.

Tonno and olives pasta supposed to come with tomato sauce (this is the way is presented in the menu) unfortunately the sauce and the olives are missing. Disappointed, the food is very expensive but without taste.

They say Italian but it's NOT Italian at all! Pizzaiolo from Kosovo, pizza made with raw tomato sauce, food quality is poor, definitely do not worth the money! I would never recommend it to an Italian friend! I'm from Naples and I was extremely disappointed, nothing reminded me of Italian food.

It is a night about more than ten years ago , I was so hungry that I ordered a pizza from this restaurant . But when I finished eating , I found that I had no money , I put forward the Nokia mobile phone as a mortgage , I would have go back to the place where I live to get money to pay . And in fact , I didn ' t come back to pay . I was so depressed at the time that I didn ' t even remember it . The owner was a tall , handsome Italian boy .He didn ' t ask me to put up my phone as collateral , he said he trusted me . Ottimo servizio e buonissimo cibo. Per loro stessa ammissione alcune ricette sono state alterate un pochino per venire incontro ai gusti locali ed è più che comprensibile, ma la qualità è indiscutibile.

We've been to Mascalzone a few times over the last 10 years and it's always been a pleasant experience. Especially in the last few years the food, service and ambience never disappoints!

Absolutely gone downhill massively - AVOID! Have been a regular here for a while, the last time I came was shocking service with 2 items of food (one being pizza for children) forgotten by the kitchen - manager apologised and removed service charge after I queried. This time is actually the LAST STRAW ! Went with 2 children. Asked for pizza with half mushroom (apparently they don't do halves - even for children!?!)... Fine. Asked for the kids pizza to come with starters. Starters came and were finished, with the kids now full because their food hadn't arrived. Kids pizza came, I said I didn't want it anymore and the waitress said she'll take it back... Only when the apparent "owner" came in an aggressive type manner and said "why don't you want it, what shall I do with it". I explained I wanted it with the starters and the waitress acknowledged it, and he didn't care. Will not be returning to this place and urge others not to either. It went through a down period previously and picked up again. Maybe this is another down period and should be closed for good - especially if that's the "owner's" attitude... Even though the starters were OK!

Been here a few times and the service and atmosphere is brilliant. Very attentive waiters and waitresses and always presented with a smile. Never feel rushed to finish our food even when it is so busy. So much choice too. Would not hesitate to return here.

My wife and I took my Son here for a birthday treat. Atmosphere was perfect. The service was exceptional with a lovely Italian waitress meeting the needs of the customers. The food is excellent, value for money and well presented. Would highly recommend this to any fan of italian food.

Very bad service we had to wait 10 minutes for the table when we had already booked and the tables were empty also there was water on the floor which we asked to clean to 3 different staff which was cleaned after 15 minutes the food took long to come as well as we had to wait form 15 minutes for someone to come and take the payment worst service

Absolutely awful food!!! I had a steak with peppercorn sauce. The sauce had chunks of undissolved stock cube in it, the steak was overcooked and i asked for chips on the side- and these were still partially raw, and the smallest portion you have ever seen. One of my party ordered a pizza, and the sauce tasted very artificial. Another ordered mushroom linguini and it barely had any sauce on it and was tastless. We had the cheesecake to finish, and it tasted unbelievably artifical and tastless! Would never go here again! The female waiter that intially served us was uninterested and had no care about customer service!

They have a selection of the pasta menu they can make a half portion for kids, friendly waiting staff, good prices.

This is the 4th time visiting, and I always come back. This place is the best on italian food in the area. I never walked out disappointed. This time, I wanted a change, and I went for the steak with peppercorn sauce and roasted potatoes. This was so delicious and cooked to perfection! I highly recommend this place if you want to enjoy a delicious dinner or if you fancy a good pizza!

Had the mascalzone and a peroni and a tiramisu. First, the mascalzone is just amazing. some might complain the folded/calzone half is wafer thin turkey ham but in my opinion it adds a sweetness to it which makes it delicious. The tiramisu is homemade and wow, you can tell. It is soft, flavoursome and authentic tasting. None of that frozen or replenished taste you typically get in London where it's out of a box and dished up to diners. Service is by friendly, smiley ladies who engage with diners but aren't intrusive. Overall, one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to in London in a while.

I love Mascalzone, the food is great and the Staff are really friendly I love going there.

The food was tasty, the service was friendly. I had a Quatro Stagione pizza, my friend had the Carbonara pasta. My pizza was tasty, but not as good as I remembered it. The tomato garlic bread wasn't that garlicky or tasty. The lady that served us was very nice and friendly. I am taking a point off for the food and one for the extremely loud music that the staff played for a customer's birthday. It was so loud that I was in physical pain (I have audio sensory sensitivity), probably at the same level with a club. When asked to turn the music slightly down, one of the young servers replied that it was someone's birthday. We didn't understand how that justifies extremely loud music, and I found that rude. Even the birthday party had enough of that noise after one minute.

This place has seriously gone down hill. I found a prawn in a veg dish. Under new management, it's a disaster. Received an email from Google that I posted a 5 star review for this place so watch out. This place posts fake reviews. This is a genuine one.

Reasonable pasta. The service is somewhat poor. The waitress spent a lot of time talking in her own language to guests with the same language. Difficult to catch her attention. The bill has a service charge added. Then they want you to add another tip on your card. Ludicrous. I only noticed it by luck. Why didn't the waitress tell me the service/tip was included? Probably a scam.

Food was great, but the lady waitress is more interested in speaking in her local language with restaurant guests rather than serving. I was trying to get her attention for 15 minutes whilst she was busy chatting and laughing away in her local language, they clearly weren't talking about the menu. This is unacceptable service in my personal opinion. It’s a shame as I took my wife here for her birthday and we were really enjoying the food up until this point, it left a sour after taste to the food.

One of the best Italian pizzas I have had in a while. Took me back to being in Italy. Not much to look at from the outside but definitely worth a trip in, for some great food.

Early evening meal before the big run in London the next day. Had a lovely spot on the backwall and were served in a very friendly, welcoming and efficient way. The menu is extensive, and everything we ordered had generous portion sizes and was very tasty and fresh tasting. Food came quickly, but not too quickly and was heartily devoured.

Have been using this restaurant since it opened in 2001. Great food and always busy. The refurbished environment has a lot of hard surfaces and so much noisier but more than made up by some (not all) of the happy waiters and waitresses.

Great food and service, we had starters, shared mains and dessert, the staff provided extra plates and spoons without us needing to ask! A very relaxing and friendly environment, we realised it was getting late and were ready to leave the staff in peace, but instead the manager told us to relax and offered us all a limencillo for free

L'animaccia vostra!! Premise: I can digest an elephant and am very healthy. I was in Edgware today and came in for a simple lunch at 2pm... "let's try just the melanzane alla parmigiana, you can't go wrong" I told myself. After twenty minutes, I began to feel that something was wrong, but went to work anyway. Since then, I have been alternating stomachache and shivering all the time until until I couldn't stand anymore. Been in bed ever since. Except in the last 10 mins, when my body told me you need to get rid of that. I've self purged and already my body is thanking, as that food stayed in my stomach undigested. Was it OLD OIL? You guys should be more responsible. Scoundrels for real!

Go to place in Edgware of your looking for some Italian. Has a wide range of food and wine. Have gone there now like more than 5 times and every-time the food was really tasty and good. Loved the King prawn pasta. Staff is really helpful too. Keep up the good work.

One of the worse experiences of my life eating at this restaurant.we came here with a few friends who hadn’t met in such a long time. Nadia and her attitude totally ruined our afternoon. Nadia the waitress was the most rude person I have ever met. We ordered starter and main and she brought everything together. Half our meal was cold Never go there again

After visiting the restaurant at least 4 times... being the most spacious and decorated one in Edgware, I realized it's not Italian food, slightly close but every dish including desserts is not part of Italy at all. It is European but different from the Mediterranean and Northern Italian cuisine. Overpriced, cheap ingredients that somehow taste good combined.

Came here at the weekend when visiting my family. After the table was booked for 6 plus two kids they had only set up a table of 6. Which created a bit of an issue but nothing they couldn’t resolve by moving a few tables around. We had a variety of meals. The Arancini starter was lovely although a bit bigger than you’d expect a starter. The pizzas we all had were very nice although the calzone could of done with a little more sauce and a little more flavour. The pasta dishes were all lovely. Service was good very friendly. Would definitely come back when In the area next. Thankyou

The service is overall very nice, with nice staff who are welcoming and helpful. The food, is good but it’s getting worse each time we come (hope it gets better). The most noticeable change was in pizza as it was rather oily. Tasted good overall but definitely seeing the difference over the past year that we keep coming every 1-2 months. Same applies to seafood, something tastes off about it. It feels like the staff that used to work in kitchen was replaced and not trained well. Hope to see it gets better

To pay £58 for two people was ridiculous. The pasta was below average . Bland food no flavour . Looked like someone threw up on my plate . As for the pizza definitely not going to recommend ordering from here . Again lacked freshness and tasted zero .

Amazing gem hidden in Edgware for some authentic Italian

We booked a table for our new years eve dinner with my girlfriend as we went this place previously and it was lovely. However this time the cream was raw with taglietalla funghi and had no taste so at the beginning we ordered a side garnish maybe spice it up which was charged but never arrived. When we asked the lady who welcomed us in that it is not right she just replied it’s cream and it’s how it’s supposed to be and left it at that. Even the pizza was a 4/10 but it was still edible. The garnish never arrived so we asked the service charged to be removed only to realise they charged us £2.20 for it aswell so we went out of character and asked for that refund too. All in all very bad experience this time ruined our news years eve and my girlfriend is doing my head since we arrived ! Never again!

The food here is always amazing however, £1 for chilli and £1 for garlic as they are classified as ‘extras’ is absurd?! Their staff don’t tell you this by the way, so be careful if you wish to add ANYTHING, as they’ll charge you for it without telling you until your bill arrives and then tell you it’s normal - far from guys!
