The Restaurant at The Stag and Pheasant Inn in Carmarthenshire

Went here for Sunday lunch. Friendly little place. Food was very good. The waiting staff were on the ball. Food came out very quick and hot. The waiting staff were happy and friendly and did not rush you.

Had a take away Sunday lunch for three. Absolutely fantastic meal. Loved every bit especially roasties and Yorkshire pudding! Thank you. Fantastic service.

My wife and I were staying next door at the Stag Coach House, and decided to eat at the Stag and Pheasant for our evening meal. Jo the landlady was extremely warm and welcoming, and the server was very friendly and efficient. Our starters were fantastic (Creamy garlic mushrooms / Battered halloumi) and the mains were even better (Homemade lasagne / Sirloin steak). One of the few places I've eaten that can actually cook a steak medium rare, instead of serving shoe leather! The icing on the cake was the desert. The homemade Strawberry Cheesecake was absolutely divine. If I'd had room, I would have ordered a second portion!

Such a lovely welcoming pub , we were made to feel very at home here .by staff and customers alike .The restaurant is behind the bar and is huge which was quite unexpected .When our chosen food arrived after ony a short wait it was presented beautifully and tasted amazing , we are definitely returning everyone is so attentiveis The Stag and Pheasant just a thoroughly lovely place

£11.95 for 3 courses was excellent value at the stag and pheasant. I wasn’t overly keen on the balsamic vinegar on the prawn cocktail or the peppers but everyone else enjoyed their pate and soup. The turkey dinner was good with lots of turkey- 3 slices but the people who had beef felt a little hard done by with only 1 slice. The veg was fine. Puddings were all good- cheesecake, chocolate fudge cake were very good so too was the eton mess even though that was more like an ice cream sundae. For the price it was very good value. Its not al a carte so don’t expect mitchelin starred quality but for the price it was good. The young girl serving us was excellent and really did her best to make sure we were happy with everything. My partner and I along with my Mum and friends enjoyed a lovely meal at the Stag and Pheasant during the Christmas-New Year period. The food was really really tasty and excellent value for money. We all really enjoyed our dishes and would all recommend them- Lasagne, Hunters chicken, Welsh Stag chicken and the Chicken curry. Service was excellent and all staff were very welcoming and friendly. We’ve recently moved to Carmel from Swansea so we’re really greateful to have such a great restaurant on our door step serving really good home cooked food! We’ll be back in 2019!!

Had a lovely meal. Rump steak was good! Followed by Apple crumble and custard. Proper pub grub food. Service was quick!

I'm not one for Sunday Lunch but fancied one so give the Stag and Pheasant a try.... Wow I really enjoyed it. For £8.95 you can't complain at all. Loads of food and worth every penny. The Cheesecake was also beautiful . Great welcome from the waitress. Will call in again during Wed-Sun and pick a meal from their menu.

5 adults visited on a Friday night lovely welcome and nothing was too much trouble . I must say the food was absolutely lovely with good portion sizes and extremely tasty . All 5 really enjoyed the meal . Well done will definitely be going again !

Took the family out today for Sunday lunch, I can honestly say it was outstanding. The plates were full and extra dishes for the veg. The home made stuffing was amazing .My children don't eat veg, but today they had it all. Very very tasty...

Creo que probablemente tuvimos mala suerte con nuestra visita. Fue una noche de frío niebla y estábamos deseando una buena comida después de un agotador viaje. Pedimos el pastel de pescado que empezó muy bien pero a mitad de camino a través sentí lo que creía que era un gran hueso de pescado en la boca, pero resultó ser un trozo de plástico duro de plástico transparente. Esto podría haber sido muy peligrosa si un niño lo hubiera tragado. Cuando me presenté a la camarera que lo llevó a la cocina y volvió con disculpas del chef y la oferta de un dulce, lo cual rechazamos, ya que no quiero uno. La cuenta fue sin deducciones acompañados con disculpas. Lo sentimos mucho por la camarera que era muy agradable, ya que ella tenía que ser el entre, no había señales de gestión o Chef. No era lo suficientemente buena y no volveremos aquí.

Hemos visitado aquí un par de veces a lo largo de los años, y siempre he tenido un gran servicio y comida. Es general la comida estilo "pub", parrillas, etc. pero cocinado y servido a un estándar muy alto.

Popped in for Sunday lunch today. Lovely friendly staff. We both opted for beef as the main course. Food came to the table quickly and piping hot. All well cooked but my main gripe was that there didn't seem to be any salt added to the veg when being cooked. Ordered dessert and was absolutely lovely. £8.95 per head for 2 courses was well worth it. We will definitely call agaim

We visited yesterday, it was unplanned and not booked but we were offered a warm welcome and a table of our choice. The restaurant is beautiful! Food was obviously freshly cooked tp order and tasted divine! Portions were generous and food was well presented and reasonably priced. I can't wait to go back!

We've been to a few places recently but this is one of the best... if not the best!! We were recommended to come here & so glad that we did. Delicious piping hot food with generous portions. Friendly, knowledgeable & very attentive staff who were willing to go the extra mile even though they were busy. Loved the decor too! Will we be coming back here again??? Most definitely!!

Visited here last week with my partner and her friends for my partners birthday, all three courses of our meals were delicious! All staff were extremely friendly. I would highly recommend coming here, I will definitely be eating here again.

We visited with a group of visiting friends on Black Friday. Booked table at very short notice but Jo was more than happy to oblige.All 5 of us had different meals and all thoroughly enjoyed. Meals are home cooked and portions are really generous. Keep meaning to go back and will do soon. Pleasantly surprised. Would only suggest that side door was reopened as some may not like walking through the bar to get to restaurant - I know my parents find that off putting but for a short walk through the bar the food is well worth it.

We found this place by accident when we missed the turning we should have taken....but as far as I am concerned this was a very lucky mistake. We were looking for somewhere to eat and the Stag and Pheasant was easy to park at. The decor was clean and crisp and the environment was very welcoming (as were the staff), The menu was varied with meals to suit all tastes. there was even a 'chips with everything' 2 for £12 option but we decided to go for the other menu. The food was excellent quality,and quantity and at just over 20.00 per head was very good value.

Visited for a family birthday. The room felt cold and could have done with the heating on for a bit to get the place warmed up. Starters arrived promptly. Soup was in a hot bowl but was a little cold to the taste, tasted good though and the pate was also good. Beef and turkey dinners were plentiful and were well presented. Plenty of veg and gravy available which was good. Desserts were also large portions that looked good. All in all very good value for money. Staff were very attentive. We all left full

Was staying just a short walk from this lovely local pub. Very smiley staff who were more than happy to help. Menu was quite small, but the dishes served were all nice with good portion sizes. Very reasonable for the amount of food, and drinks at the bar were very reasonable too.

This is a pleasant family orientated pub with a very pleasant landlady who is eager to please.The food is a typical pub menu.I had the chicken bites to start with and then a very good steak; generous portions, cooked with thought and well presented. The pub is a bit of a "tardis" in that you enter through a small bar full of merry locals, into a very large restaurant.It would be nice if the two parts could be better separated because some of the more raucous language from the bar overspilled and might upset those with more sensitive dispositions than myself. Generally though a very worthwhile pub with everyone working hard to please.

A little while since I'd been here. You still have to walk through a slightly old-fashioned pub (although it has been updated since I was last here), as noted by other reviewers. Once you get to the restaurant, it's a nice surprise, airy and spacious, tables not too close together. My daughter had chicken nuggets. My wife and I ordered curries, and they were obviously home made, and very tasty! And they were large portions. A nice night out.

this is a pub that gives you the wrong impression when you walk in, but don't be fooled because you are taken into a very nice dining room, the food is good and the staff are very friendly

This is a local for us and a good choice for a nice meal. Good selection and lot of specials that are seasonal. Prices average but food is good

The food and service in this restaurant is excellent. Its a shame that there isn't a separate entrance for the dining room as you have to go through the bar and find the dining room! When we went there were only 2 other people eating although the bar was full.

A pity that this pub is somewhat off the beaten track, but only 10 mins from the A48 on the Llandeilo road from the Cross Hands roundabout, it is well worth a visit. A party of 10, we had Sunday Lunch here on Sept 28th. There are no pretensions that this was a gourmet meal and gourmet prices were not charged. What we did get was a traditional Sunday lunch, choices of Turkey, Pork or Beef. Potatoes, roast and boiled, cauliflower/broccoli cheese, carrots, peas, parsnips, Yorkshire Pud, what more could you ask for. 3 Courses about £10 drinks from the bar at reasonable pub prices.The pub looks small from the road, but is large inside. The service was excellent and friendly. There was a slight shortage of turkey but we were near to the 3pm closing time. All the food was freshly cooked and the whole experience faultless for the price. Will definitely go there again.

We have had Sunday lunch at the Stag a number of times and loved it, this is the second time we have decided on a takeaway as we had quite a bit of gardening to do as it was such a lovely day. Called at the Stag for my usually two pints and waited for our takeaway, you can have beef, turkey or pork OR what they call "a mix" which, yep you guessed it, a slice of each :-) It was STUNNING! could not finish it all, did I say it was STUNNING because it was. We are a couple so at £6 per head it just is not worth the bother to even contemplate doing it ourselves. BTW Did I mention it was STUNNING :-) cheersPC.

Called in and was made very welcome at 2.45pm when the lunch time runs from 12.00 to 3.00 pm ordered and the food was great, the lady behind the bar sorry not sure of her name was lovely chatting and have a laugh with you the tv was on and we were chatting about the programme that was on, the food was still serviced hot and was asked if all ok. if any one is in the area call in the choice of food is good and is hot when serviced

My husband and I had visited previously and enjoyed so we deceided to take the whole family. I booked a table for a Friday evening, the special was 3 courses steak meal for £12.50, no choice on starter or dessert. When some of our party ordered the special we were informed after order went to kitchen there wasn't enough steaks to complete our order and we would have to upgrade some meals. I disputed this with waitress as I'd booked in advance, requesting the restaurant pay the difference in cost -they refused. One of our party ordered fish, which wasn't cooked. This was pointed out to waitress who then asked would be like another!!! When she returned with the freshly cooked fish (this one was over cooked to the point of being almost burnt on edges) she pointed out the other fish was cooked correctly according to the kitchen thermometer! Whilst I am not a chef I can see raw fish flesh. When it came time for dessert then run out of that!!!! Was offered an alternative of their choice! Poor food poor service poorly trained staff lacking in any customer service, all of the problems we encountered at this meal could have been overlooked had we been treated differently - will not be returning (chips hand made and fab)

Warm welcome accompanied by good quality food at decent prices. And good portions. Definitely be going back in the near future.

This is our second time to this pub and both times the food has been beautiful. The children's meals are a decent size and reasonable prices. The adult meals are massive! I highly recommend the fillet steak medallions in a mushroom sauce & home made chips!The staff were friendly and allowed the children to have fun and sing on the karaoke.A lovely evening will definitely return when we are next in Wales!

The pub was fairly quiet, so we got a good service. The staff were friendly. My steak was reasonable, all in all a pleasant evening. The karaoke was a bit loud. Perhaps that's why the restaurant section was quiet.

Had a lovely homemade meal tonight with friends. Stunning battered onion rings-not to be missed out on! We all had beautiful meals and will be returning again and telling family and friends about the fabulous service and food at the Stag and Pheasant!
