Nice clean pub friendly staff and does a great carvery

I went Friday lunch time. All they had with gammon. I was not impressed.

Regularly visit the red lion as a family. Staff and food are fabulous. Great value for money. Thank you to Amy, Grace and the team.

first visit for 12 months as visiting family(im not local) great choice of veg for meat free carvery, only (tiny gripe) some veg could have been hotter and veg gravy could be thicker but will return next time im in barnett

I had the pizza birthday party for my daughter. We had a small private room so that the noise of the children won’t disturb other customers. The host, Grace, was amazing. She got everything well prepared and knew how to control the over excited kids. All the guest had a wonderful experience.

Food was lovely & service was great. A young lady called Grace was very helpful & welcoming. She made sure our visit was pleasant and checked on us frequently to see if we needed anything else & that everything was ok. Will definitely visit again!!

Lovely carvery, pleasant chefs and front of restaurant staff. My only concern is that, as usual, the food isn't hot enough, usually lukewarm and sometimes I have to get my meal zapped. Somehow the food should be stirred every so often to maintain some heat. Putting gravy on doesn't always make it hotter. Otherwise it's lovely.

It's what it is! Internal premises needs gutting and re vamping ! Needs a lot of investment injection to this business! Or it will fold! TAKE NOTE PEOPLE!

Pizza very nice and service was excellent!!!!

I have been before and had a good carvery, however this time was not good at all. Service was great but the food was so dry and chewy it was almost inedible. I had the roast beef, which looked fine but was as tough as a proverbial boot. The stuffing was so dry I couldn't even serve it up and even the Yorkshire pudding was like eating a plastic bag. Quite sad as I will not be taking a chance of returning now.

Me and Partner came here for lunch and wasn’t disappointed. The food was delicious and the service from Charlie and Lorri was great. Will definitely be back.

We had a lovely breakfast at the Red Lion - we hadn't booked and there were more if us than we'd anticipated so they did a fabulous job at catering for us all. Michelle was great at letting us know how the system worked and making sure we had all we wanted. The whole party were very happy with the choice and supply of cooked brekkie available. I really enjoyed the waffles and bacon with my all-you-can-eat breakfast. The mushrooms were a great addition too.

The carvery has gone down hill over the last couple of years. They now only have two meat choices on a Wednesday and Thursday, three on a Friday and Saturday, and four on a Sunday. I went on Thursday and was disappointed. The slices of turkey were extremely thin. The chef was teaching a new staff member how to make pizza. He should be concentrating on the carvery. The veg was ok...the roast potatoes very good. There has also only been one gravy option for a while. There used to be standard, vegetarian and onion iirc. The staff are still friendly and welcoming but they know what they are doing is wrong. I wonder if the two meat thing is Accross the Toby restaurants or just the red lion.....? If I do go again I shall see if there is a no meat roast option. It used to be a really good meal for a reasonable price yet the price goes up and the quality and quantity go down. Lots of people go in there for a 'good meal'...older people, people with less money than others. Sad to see it go down like this and no 'good meal' for anyone on a Monday or Tuesday. I think High Barnet is slowly dying.

Went there after a long time. Ordered some wing and battered mushrooms . Wings were fine, but the mushrooms were oily. Asked for Tabesco. Reply from the server was your wings have already got sauce. I can't give you Tabesco. You have to order another dip!! Sorry for asking!!🙄 BTW the bar staff was polite and helpful

The pizza was good, and the burger was thick. The service was really good, but the atmosphere was very disappointing. It was dirty.

We used a meeting room to celebrate a family birthday. Grace was super helpful and made everything run smoothly. Great friendly service as usual :)

Used to love the carvery at Red Lion. But the last time I went it didn't taste of anything. The mash used to be lovely and buttery, seasoned well. But thus time it tasted of nothing. The gravy had no taste, neither did the stuffing! Will be returning to Toby from now on

We just come from visiting the pub , woooooow I’m really disappointed with the staff rude attitude! Food was ok but the member of staff unprofessional and rude and for that reason we won’t return here any more. Very disappointed

I really enjoyed my time at the red lion staff were friendly. We got a carvery which was far better than other top carvery places. Dessert was good although the custard with the cake could’ve been a lot warmer.

Over the years this used to be a really good place to come to eat a carvery or other decent stuff like pizza with a pint. Nowadays, the food quality has dropped massively! Came here on Father's day and ordered various meals. All meals ordered were either dry, undercooked or were just generally not to the standard that you'd expect from a pub grub venue like this. The manager of the venue is very polite, friendly and willing to help you wherever he can. The new kid serving drinks behind the bar, however, not so much. No smile, no customer service, just got a moody look when ordering. It's still a decent place to come for a drink and to watch some footy, but I won't be eating here again - that's for sure.

Took my partner here as a thank you for all she does for me as my carer and couldn’t believe how downhill it’s gone. Staff walking round with faces like smacked bums, no turkey, no pigs in blanket, heating lights turned down so low everything was almost cold. Tables felt sticky, no apple sauce. Couldn’t wait to finish eating and left after 15 minutes.

Great place to watch the Euro’s. tv’s everywhere in the bar plus a projector. And there’s a private room with a tv also. Grace and Charlie behind the bar were very welcoming and accommodating

As usual for this carvery food is not really hot enough. Asked gor Small "child- sized" meal for my 93 year old Dad. Was told they don't do child sized on a Sunday, only to hear the table next to us have one. For the huge number of people packed in there today, they really wouldn't have lost much on one adult meal. Instead of pushing him into having an adult size plate & leaving feeling bad because he couldn't manage it. We still go there because the venue is familiar to my Dad, who has dementia.

Another special occasion spent at the red lion, & another lovely meal & time with family. Thank you Staff at the Red Lion, we will be back.

Foods good service hit and miss, but the place is in desperate need of investment it's shabby and if theres a football group in the bar say goodbye to a quiet lunch

I have been visiting this Red Lion since 2015. A great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bar area is fabulous and the restaurant sitting area is comfy. The carvery is super delicious - thanks to the chefs! In addition, the staff are very nice and helpful, especially Kayleigh. What's more, there's a beautiful garden sitting place with plenty of flowers. Come on to visit this gentle lion!

Food wasn't the best this time. We came around 6pm and had the roast dinner, so only had what was the left overs. Definitely come during the lunchtime rush as the food is fresh then. Staff are always lovely and helpful.

I'm a regular here and the service is always prompt and friendly. We can find a quiet corner to talk.

We had a lovely unrushed Sunday lunch with 5 adults, two children and one baby. Charlie was our host and he was patient helpful and very kind and went over and beyond his duty.

Really lovely and friendly service from Charlie and Lorri. The chicken burger is AMAZING and the portions are just right. Also, had one of the nicest espresso martinis in Barnet. Good, varied music and nice people.

As soon as I walked through the door was greeted with a smile by Kayleigh and taken straight to my table then Kayleigh helpfully explained how it works with ordering food and drinks and paying, I ordered the burger and chips and have to say was cooked to my liking, Kayleigh kept making sure I was happy with everything as well as all her other customers with a polite manner and smile definitely made my visit enjoyable.

Carling was lovely, thanks Kayleigh for the cracking service!

Visit every Friday lunchtime for a good value pint and bite to eat. As always, friendly and helpful bar staff, including Kayleigh.

A gem of a pub. Quite often come here with my son to watch football and we often grab some food. The kids menu is a bargain and great value for money compared to other local pubs. The staff have always been friendly and look after us (putting a particular game on the tv, turning the sound up for the football, getting us some darts to play round the clock with etc) and they very welcoming to the kids. The food is nice, gets served quickly and most importantly great value. Big shout out to the management team and to Kayleigh and the rest of the team - thanks for always nice and friendly whenever we visit.

We originally went for Wed mid week carvery but was met by a young and extremely rude waitress . Not only was she unfriendly but did not even bother to acknowledge us when we walked in, (we found an empty table to sit at by ourselves) and no one ever came to us despite the restaurant being almost empty. When we approached her, she blatantly blanked us and walked off. When we asked another waitress (think she was the manager) about whether we could still apply our 20 percent discount, we were told, 'not sure, just try and see when you pay'. As the carvery looked dry as hell with leftover scraps with only one meat option (different to what was advertised), we considered the burgers instead but were told to hurry up - it was only 7.30 pm as orders would close shortly. What a joke. In the end we just left without ordering (another reason being that the place wasn't clean with scraps of food on tables including ours and had not been properly wiped) Train your staff properly, no customer with put up with that sort of stinky attitude nor with that standard of food quality. Avoid this restaurant, save your £10 and head to Toby Carvery instead.

This place used to be wayyyy better. No table service now. Building is falling into disrepair. Food was ok but carvery was disappointing, cauliflower seemed to be cooked for 2-3 hours. Very dirty condiments. needs Maintenance urgently, eg broken light bulbs, water logged ceiling. Head office please take note (photos)

As a longtime patron of The Red Lion, I've always held this establishment in high regard. However, my recent experience has left me deeply disheartened and disillusioned. After leaving my contact details to book a room for my daughter's upcoming communion over a month ago, I have yet to receive any communication from the venue. This lack of follow-up is not only disappointing but also reflects a concerning decline in customer service standards. Having been a loyal customer for years, it pains me to acknowledge that this pub seems to have lost its charm. From the apparent lack of communication to an overall decline in service quality, it's evident that something has changed, and not for the better. As someone who has cherished memories of this establishment, it's saddening to see it fall short of its former glory. I can't help but wonder if there's been a change in management or if other factors have contributed to this decline. My recent experience 2 days ago has left me questioning whether I can continue to support an establishment that has seemingly lost its way. I sincerely hope that steps are taken to address these issues and restore The Red Lion to its former reputation as a beloved local gem.

Very friendly staff who were welcoming and also helped us with choosing a drink and menu. Food was not the best, was okay. The roast was a bit dry, and the burger did not look very appetising. Would give it another try, but not getting my hopes up.

Carvery food merely warm and average. Staff clearly need training especially the day manager who seemed to think she was expending favours to paying customers, and the meat carver who was uncommunicative and uncaring. Atmosphere zero.

Very efficient service from the young lady that waited on our table, I think they should receive their tips at the end of every shift, that have been given via card payment or at least the next working day, not 6-8wks later!

I visited on Sunday lunchtime as normal I had a large carvery as normal the meat was tender and a decent portion the veg selection was ok I would liked to have seen some broccoli the staff were polite as usual and the restaurant was clean I would like to see a few real ales in the red lion currently none overall a decent carvery a good place to watch football as well

Went for Sunday Lunch, The choice was quite limited, maybe it was because of the time we arrived. The down side to our experience, was a family with 2 children, arrived with one child with a high-pitched, piercing screaming, and this went on for at least 20 Mins... The parent did not even notice... just let it run feral, with no shoes on.. Management should have intervened;. We had to leave before finishing our paid for meal.
