The Red Lion - JD Wetherspoon in Northumberland

The waiting times have gone right down hill the past few months waiting 50mins for a chicken basket and chips isn’t acceptable even after asking two members of staff not once was I told there was a wait for food very busy but only about 3 staff in witness a few people come in then leave as met my dirty tables and mess all over the floor it’s looking like they are only concentrating on the drinkers now which is a shame

We were waiting our breakfast for ages and they didnt have porridge, also they forgot add yogurt to my fruit salad

Not been for a while after bad breakfast Should of saved my money and not bothered.never again

It's a wetherspoon. So cheap food etc etc. if you've been to one then you know what to expect. Can't beat it for a cheap meal. The quality of what my wife and I had was great. Id have it again no problem.

Popped in for breakfast, whilst my car was getting sorted. Staff were very good, the breakfast was super for the price.

Overall, very satisfied. It's a Wetherspoon so I kinda know what to expect (always or usually an excellent experience) Staff quite friendly and professional. I spent about an hour in the afternoon (weekday) and it was quite busy. This is a gorgeous building, very spacious inside and plenty of seats out back. If ya passing through Bedlington and fancy a respite this cozy corner pub will refresh you. Only drank and didn't order food but I'd expect it to be adequate for a JDs

Eggs Benedict so good it feels sinful, and their coffee is always top-notch and easy on the wallet. A must-visit!" Always hits the spot for this hungry landscaper.

Popped in Sunday evening, ordered the mix grill on special and a curry, food was very good, as was the service.

It's a really good pub. Always relaxed atmosphere when I have been there. Beers are always good and well kept. £2.59 for a pint of Guinness!!! What's not to like? Breakfast is always nice and superb value. You can't go wrong in the red lion.

Probably one of, if not the best spoons I occasionally visit. Lots of tables and nice wooden decor and paintings. Two bookshelves that are full of books, nice to read whilst enjoying a couple pints. The food is on point albeit normal spoons menu, and the customer service is always excellent. Wide variety of pints on draft at amazing prices.

Main menu food is ok. Very pricey for the quality. Breakfasts on the other hand are lovely and reasonably priced. Drinks are reasonable also. Not bad all round. Just the price of main menu food needs to be brought down to reflect quality.

Typical spoons, good prices and good selection of drinks and fairly good food(you know what your getting)

Regularly call for a Friday drink after a busy week teaching at local school. Staff are great, prices spot on and nice bar/outdoor area.

Breakfast was good with no issues Place was clean and well presented Parking is very awkward and limited Lighting and usual facilities as spoons, and the upstairs toilets Staff were fast and efficient and helpful and polite.

Red lion ???? Should be renamed ‘The long Stand’ haway spoons employ a couple more staff. 20 min wait at bar for a couple of pints and others still waiting 😩

Having just moved to the area and having our kitchen still in disarray, Dad and I needed to eat somewhere where we could be sure of a good standard of food and this being a Wetherspoons they didn't disappoint, if anything their food standard is higher than many 'spoons I've eaten in. Because they were pretty busy being a Friday night we found the quiet nook the best place to sit and having ordered on the app, our drinks and food came within a very acceptable window of time. This is a pub with actual character and the history of not only the pub but the local area is literally writ large on her walls with pictures accompanied by some written histories of local people on a good number of the walls. If you're passing through, visiting the area or are a local, this is an excellent place to come for food, drink and a good atmosphere.

Usually good curry. Popadoms soooo greasy. Deputy Manager very offhand, not interested and insincere. What a shane. Pure gease twice brought to table. Deputy Manager felt ok. Shocking

Such a lovely friendly place I visit my aunt in bedlington twice a year, I'm from Ireland I like to go to the red lion for a walk to catch up on work and have lunch or breakfast . The staff are so lovely and friendly, food is fabulous and service is so efficient

Very good food, service was abit slow but it was packed out, highly recommend.

Sharing for my friends who after travelling from down south went to Red Lion Bedlington for food and found a table they had to clear and clean themselves . Ring order delivered to table one item returned which was a margarita pizza instead of pepperoni.Server took this back but kitchen sent it back out saying my friends were wrong they were right My friends accepted this and ordered drinks and one soft drink for their 15 year old granddaughter. Despite having just got their meal and drinks within minutes the duty manager came and ordered them to leave it was four minutes past nine . It’s just a pity the duty manager on Friday 8th December didn’t throw her weight around with the unruly mob of filthy mouthed individuals at the next table . Having been a frequent patron at Wetherspoons now mainly in the morning for coffee I can personally confirm the level of deterioration in this place and I always maintain a business is only as good as the manager or the person at the helm and I’m afraid this one is failing miserably . What once was a welcoming warm friendly place to frequent is now nothing short of a place to be avoided . It would appear that these complaints are obviously ignored if indeed they are read at all . This pub is in dire need of a new management structure and this most certainly extends to area / regional management . I refer you to comments from another comment when a person told the staff they had not put eggs with their breakfast and while this was changed the staff member went back to the kitchen with the plate cursing for all to hear .Wetherspoons Bedlington or better known as the Red Lion hang your heads in shame your current management is ruining what once was a really nice place to go to now it is the place to avoid

Yet another nice large breakfast.. ordered extra everything as per usual and they forgot to put my fried eggs on.. was swifty rectified once I mentioned it... Was enjoying my food even though a member of staff went into the kitchen swearing his head off... I will be back again for more!!

Visited the Red Lion whilst on holiday in Bedlington. The staff on different nights were friendly, helpful and courteous. The food was Spoons menu but hot and served quickly. This is a local pub and the regulars were friendly and enjoying their time at the Red Lion. I would definitely recommend trying it if you are in the area.

Quick visit.Coffee and breakfast.Nice surroundings, the place had a good feel about it . Hard to explain that.but it did.

Food came out quickly but chicken wings were missing so I had to get up and ask for them and then I realised the peppercorn sauce was missing so I went up again to ask, and no one was on the bar as they were just chatting in the corner. I love a wetherspoon meal normally but it was a bit disappointing on this occasion.

I have been to a lot of Spoons and this is up there with my favourites. Hot food, service with a smile and just generally great.

Went with a friend to get breakfast and they asked for ID wasn’t planning on getting alcohol as I’m 17 but for just breakfast is the stupidest thing ever wouldn’t recommend going at all horrible customer service

Was there tonight 24 June with my partner. Bar staff rude and not wanting to serve. Bat empty and no one wants to be serving, so then changed to ordering on app and taking off stuff I can't have due to allergy and then it still arrives with it in it.

Reasonably priced food and drinks. Staff were friendly but we did go when it was quite quiet.

Excellent place. Was treated nicely and one of the servers, Ellie made me feel welcome by ordering me a meal and the other staff just as well by covering my coffee when I was struggling. Great team and awesome place if you're ever in Bedlington 💖

Very disappointing food for the price. Fish was overcooked, and the small mixed grill was undercooked.

Will never return here after having many many meals but the place has went downhill whoever is the manager needs the boot as her attitude towards customers is disgusting and the kitchen staff need completely replaced as my girlfiend ordered a breakfast wrap to only find a blue plaster covered in blood inside it!!!!!!

Good for a spoons. Mix of crazy young crowd and old crowd, not much in between.

Got to be the worst bar in the group for getting service staff would rather chat to each other than serve you.

Food tasted ok on the night, however woke up next day with food poisoning from eating the chicken burger.

This was my local but after my wetherspoons app glitching and ordering from the Red Lion instead of one I was at I rang up straight away to tell them. Ridiculous policy of not providing a refund despite me calling as soon as it occured so zero stock was wasted and that it was a glitch in the app which other people have also reported. Told manager of location I was at who agreed this policy was disgusting but was 'managers discretion' per restaurant location. I felt quite disgusted after this as the Red Lion manager clearly only cares about money and profits rather than their customers. After being a customer here regularly for many years this has made me no longer want to return here. Feel incredibly disappointed and let down by the Red Lion and the wetherspoons franchise policy.

Good place to start ya Friday off cheep enough and good crack, just not so easy to get a table if you get there after 5.

It's a typical 'spoon's, toilets that would give Chris Bonington second thoughts, slow service by unmotivated staff, but cheap & cheerful prices. We failed to find any half decent beer and left after two attempts.

Listening to how staff (kitchen staff) talk about customers when wrong food is brought back to the kitchen is appalling. Would reccomend moving the tables away from ear shot or even better, hire staff with better manners

Back to normal spoons now. Their menu has shrunk since COVID though, which is a shame.

Food was OK, was not great just OK. Tables were filthy full of dirty plates and glasses.

Excellent evening. Busy without being overcrowded Beer was spot on and it would appear they have someone who knows how to manage their wet trade customers

Lovely friendly staff, and quick service. Great choice of drinks, bottomless hot drinks, breakfasts and family meals, all at good prices. Ordering on App is quick and easy too. Pleasant family dining. 🙂 But ...no disabled parking for people with mobility issues ☹ (Small private car park was closed when the outdoor area was extended) Awkward to park anywhere close.

First time visiting this pub and I really liked it. Great choice of drinks with tons of deals, and a varied food menu making it impossible not to find something you're after 😃
