Good atmosphere on a weekend but price off the drinks is like Newcastle.

Was very quiet, but it was Wednesday evening. By all accounts, you get a duck in a particular cocktail.

We have just left the Hotel room Where to start!!! The hotel is a beautiful place but VERY DIRTY! Our room (10) was covered in thick cobwebs in every corner. Thick dust on sockets, hairs in bed, carpet not hoovered, dirty windows and mirrors. There were short black hairs in the bath, no towel on the bath rail there was old used soap bar in the dish. Toe nail clippings behind the bath. Dead bugs under the curtain in the corner. The bottom of the shower felt slimy from not being cleaned. The stair cases are filthy too. Cobwebs in windows! Why would you think this is acceptable? We had breakfast both mornings which were terrible. Yesterday we had eggs Benedict which was just warm. This morning we tried the Auction house breakfast. Bread was cold not toasted, frozen hash browns that were still frozen the cheapest sausages and undercooked slimey eggs. Two other tables returned their breakfast. When my plate was taken, the lady asked if it was ok, I explained it was partly frozen and she just said sorry, no offer of anything else. So disappointing! I’m going to request a partial refund for the dirty stay and poor breakfast. The cleaner should be sacked immediately! She’s destroying a good business!

We stayed at the auction house a couple weeks back and the staff were fantastic! They did everything they could so we were comfortable at the venue, from the state of the room which was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. The drink selection at the bar was superb as they had multiple draught choices and bottled options, the cocktails my girlfriend had were lovely. We were shown how to operate the out of hours access to the rooms which was explained into great detail and made it easy for us to find our way back into the room. Overall a very lovely hotel and bar life was really good on the weekend! I would highly recommend staying or even popping in for a cocktail to experience the place we also placed a bid on some of the art around the bar and on the walls.

Wonderful venue! I stayed here for two nights for my Mams wedding and the whole stay from start to finish was amazing! Staff went above and beyond to help us, the rooms were absolutely stunning and the breakfast was so yummy. Such a quirky and unique place it definitely made for a lovely weekend away for us all! Couldn't recommend more ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good place, great staff but last orders was 2310 and it shut at 0000. Bit disappointing as would have stayed longer.

I like going there. It's very quirky. It has a good selection of all types of drinks. The decor is eccentric.

Room was dirty, a baby sock was found under the bed. Was there for a wedding morning. We had to leave through a fire exit as the staff member left. Tried to speak to a staff member to clean the room Before the bride and groom got back. The staff member was on the phone talking away and practically ignored me. Room wasn’t cleaned only bed was made. There was no toilet roll and nobody was there to give us more. The staff member was apparently 30 mins away. Wouldn’t serve us any hot drinks on the morning. Overall just a bad experience wouldn’t recommend

Dirty room. Hip decor doesn’t make up for poor cleaning practices. Room floor was very dirty. Urine present on the toilet we arrived.

Room was so small, workers were not helpful and nice, food was terrible, had really bad experience in one night. Dont recommend it at all.

Fabulous stay at The Auction House. We stayed overnight in room 9. The room is beautifully decorated as is the entire establishment. Check-in process very quick & staff very welcoming. Room was clean, bed and pillows comfortable and slept really well. The room was fairly big but compact with all the lovely decoration. Bathroom small but functional. The food & drinks were amazing. We had the burger/satay chicken burger and both were delicious as were the cocktails. Breakfast again very good. Check out easy. Would we return - absolutely! Even if we were just passing through just for the burgers & cocktails it's definitely worth a visit.

A busy public house with unusual decor downstairs. Once you go up stairs to the rooms, you cannot here any noise from the bar area. Rooms were on a medium to small size and again full of unusual decor making the room seem cramped. No ward in our room, so only coat hooks to hang clothes on. Nice en suite and rooms were clean. If I'm honest, I thought it was a bit overpriced for what was on offer. On a final note, if out late the night time entrance is at the rear of the building, about a 300m walk around the street corner, into a muse housing area, then up a metal staircase, not for elderly or disabled, not even during the day using the front entrance.

Don’t stay in room 12! The cleanliness is poor and the bath is tiny!! Also breakfast is 8-9am, a 1-hour window at the weekend! What location does that!? So far, this isn’t the location it makes out!

I very rarely write negative reviews but sadly, we did not have the greatest experience here. Room We paid for the most expensive room, it was the deluxe suite with the bath tub. At an absolute minimum for any hotel, regardless of price it should be clean. However, the room was not, the dressing table was covered in makeup with someone else’s hair on and inside the drawers. There was dirt on the floor, and the bathroom is minuscule. Even with the room being unclean there was other things wrong with the room, the radiator leaked, the tv remote was cracked and didn’t work and the bed is ridiculously loud, it squeaked with every turn and felt genuinely a bit unstable. The windows are single glazed, and as the hotel is on the front street we expected a bit of noise but there was a clear disregard for any attempt to try minimise the noise. Customer service The lady we initially met on arrival was lovely. However, upon returning back to the hotel ready for a few drinks at half 10 we were told the bar was closed, despite being told earlier it was open until 12 and online saying 12. The barmaid also rudely called out my partner for going upstairs assuming he was going to the toilet when he was actually just going to the room. Breakfast If you are a vegan or vegetarian the breakfast is definitely not advisable. There is one option which is eggs florentine, with three meat options (these options could easily be altered to cater for more diets). My partner ordered the breakfast, in which the bacon arrived cremated and inedible to the point where even the waitress apologised when putting the breakfast down. It really is a shame to write such a poor review but it is disappointing when you are paying for a deluxe suite and both the service and hotel itself is substandard. I just hope they take on this feedback as constructive criticism and make some changes as it has fantastic potential.

Beautiful hotel, with great facilities. Really unique and fun. The after hours entrance is really easy, safe and simple. We had a great stay here and would highly recommend!
