Just been for a meal with my wife and must say it was absolutely beautiful, garlic mushrooms for starters followed by a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings honestly had to force myself to eat it all as I didn’t want to leave a scrap it was so nice , then to top it off I indulged in the best sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and all for just £16 . Don’t think I will need to eat again for a few days , well worth a visit mmm

Myself and 2 friends stumbled across this gorgeous pub and well what a pub. We planned to just have a quick drink at lunchtime but loved it so much we booked and went back for dinner which didn't disappoint. The landlady and landlord were fabulous and very very friendly and chatty and really took time out to speak with us. All the staff were very friendly and brilliant at service. The food was fabulous. Would definitely recommend if your in the area. We will be back

Went to the red lion melidon on Saturday night two of the young staff was ok but the elder lady was awful as soon as walked in was meet by saying I was not show if I had booked but could we have a table for 4 You would have thought I was s asking for the world the look that I got Then sge sent us to our table hour later get our meal we was first in the restaurant no one else there Every one else who came in after us was given there starter then they was given there main course all before us Then a hour later after waiting again and by this time no one was in the restaurant but us Never will I go there again my husband and I have been in catering all our lifes and never have I gone though any thing like that before I feel sorry for any one who get severed by that awful person again And a good wash would not go a miss

Food was nice Yorkshire pudding was rock-hard. When we arrived lady behind bar was eating a bag of crisps and licking her fingers and serving without washing her hands

Hi all, Went today for birthday meal with family, Food not bad but a few issues. 1.pate came with no chutney which stated it came with so had to ask for it. 2.All the starters came with side salad (which was salad leaves no cucumber no tomato no onions, disappointed with this.!!!. 3.All roast stated they came with pigs in blankets half the meals missing these.

Service appalling. Woman who owns it is rude. Staff are sitting around doing nothing. Drinks take 15 minutes to come to the table. Food was over cooked and microwaved, not much was fresh at all. Wont be coming back!! Avoid

Starters weren’t to bad then it got to the main the steak was orderd medium but come out like a hobos flip flop was as dry as a nuns then to the service started ok but orderd a drink when the main come out and didn’t arrive till it was time to pay then asked for the bill and ended up having to go see miss not so happy at the bar to get it who didn’t engage in a single bit of conversation not even a hello just passed the bill wouldn’t recommend to anyone unless you want the experience of Karen’s diner without actually going to Karen’s diner

Great meal, had a Roast Dinner, beef was lovely and tender, veg well cooked, loved it. If anything there was too much on the plate and Im a big lad!!

First visit for Sunday lunch since moving to the area. Every table was full and there was a lovely family atmosphere . Despite how busy the staff and the kitchen were food was served piping hot and perfectly cooked. The staff were polite and accommodating. Won’t be our last visit

Food was absolutely delicious. We opted for the Christmas party 3 course meal and it was all amazing and very reasonably priced. The young waitresses were friendly and polite. Will definitely go again.

Visited Sat 23rd Dec 23, first thing to say is young lady behind the bar and young waitress serving us were eabsolutely lovely. Ordered a rump steak for myself and Mexican chicken burger for my wife. My steak arrived and was so tough not only could I not eat it, I couldn’t even cut it with a steak knife! The onion rings were so overcooked they shattered when I cut into them, peppercorn sauce was obviously from a packet and full of MSG, chips were delicious! When the older “head waitress” asked if everything was ok I said no it wasn’t, that my steak was tough as old boots, she said wasn’t it cooked to my liking and i showed her you couldn’t cut it with a steak knife, she offered to “change it” I said no thanks I didn’t want to wait for a replacement to be cooked. I have eaten hundreds of steaks, I know rump is not the tenderest of cuts but should at least be edible. She said she would let the chef know. I’m sure this lady is an institution in the place but obviously not employed for her sunny disposition, scintillating personality or people skills in general! Anyway I left 90% of my meal. My wife chicken burger thing was tasteless and had the consistency of cardboard! The prices were very reasonable but obviously achieved by using poor quality ingredients and management who care little about customer satisfaction. When my wife went to pay our bill, there was no apology or reduction, in fact throughout the whole process we never heard the word “ sorry” although disgusted with the “head waitress’s attitude, having had a particularly stressful week at work, she couldn’t be bothered haggling so paid the bill in full and left. We will never visit again and actively discourage anyone else from doing so.

Beautiful food only giving a 4 because our table for 2 was cramped up against disabled toilet door felt uncomfortable it was literally up against it and door was open a bit my partner was sat facing me so he could smell the gents toilet everytime the door opened as it was by the wall he was sitting but as the food goes it was lovely

Went for Sunday roast. Absolutely delicious 😋 had roast beef. I have scored a 4. I was a little disappointed with the choice of veg. We had peas, red cabbage and carrots & swede. Something like fresh broccoli, cauliflower, green cabbage, and brussel sprouts would have been nice. I have been before, and the choice of fresh vegetables was awesome. On that occasion, I had fresh broccoli and cauliflower cheese delicious 😋

The food is really nice,we have been a couple of times now and have never been disappointed. You can get three courses for about £16.99 and the drinks are responsible to. The staff are very friendly and helpful and always try to accommodate your needs if your dairy free or anything. Highly recommend great food and drinks and brilliant staff.

Sunday lunch at the Red Lion. Probably the best roast dinner to be had anywhere. Roast beef was beautifully cooked & virtually melted in the mouth. Excellent service & atmosphere. Good value for what you get. Highly recommend.

Amazing Sunday lunch at the Red Lion, the Welsh Beef Brisket was just soooo good. Portion sizes were huge - hence we only managed 2 courses and not 3! Great value for money too. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Next time we’re in the area we’ll be back for another meal.

Amazing food, fast service and friendly staff

It’s safe to say that this Sunday Dinner tickled my taste buds. A rich exquisite gravy, dousing over a slab of perfectly cooked honey roasted Ham. Meals were filling and warm. Left me feeling happy and satisfied. Only minor downside was they the glasses didn’t look very clean.

We had a really enjoyable evening here. The food was lovely and very good value, and they were lovely to our dogs. Would definitely recommend and go back.

For a small family local business it’s shocking. Under cooked food, dry burgers and get this. Only told they didn’t have certain food once we had ordered and it never came out, questioned where the food was to be then told it was out of stock There was no question to whether or not we were enjoying the meal. Needs serious improvement and maybe a visit for the food hygiene service

Really lovely atmosphere and great food. Different sections of the pub make you feel like you can go for different experiences all in one evening. My son loved the curry.

Went here for Sunday lunch. The staff were lovely but they were way too busy and so we were left waiting for nearly an hour before we got our food. Food was good and will try the place again but maybe on a weekday when it will be quieter so the kitchen and staff can serve the guests faster and more efficiently.

Awful service manager very rude. Two meals sent wrong which meant they ate later than rest of us.. lipstick on glass. Bill slapped on table when only just finished mains. Could see the manager talking and looking over .

Omg I have just had welsh black beef roast Dinner and it was absolutley delicious .I couldn't fault it at all .Followed by biscof cheese cake and ice cream .booked for 12.30 Roast came not long after .Staff were so attentive making sure you had everything I would highly recommend anyone to go here to The red Lion but make sure you book As it is very popular and really Busy . I come to Prestatyn quite a lot . I meet up with a couple I’ve known for years . They don’t live in the area but we’re very impressed with the food choice and the room we shared . Staff are brilliant and so welcoming and it’s a fun place to eat and drink . Definitely recommend .

So arrived this evening after booking a table for 6 of us at 7:30 pm, the lady told us we were outside and we could look and then decide (this should have been made clear upon booking) obviously it’s heavy rain so we wasn’t sitting outside? Also 6 of us couldn’t dine at a picnic table? We then said we would wait for a table inside, (a few other diners outside said the same happened to them after they requested upon booking to sit inside). We went inside to be rudely spoken to by the bar man who said “nobody else has a problem with it” they clearly do as they were all vocal about this outside. The manager then comes along and tried to blame it on current circumstances, which we advised it’s nothing to do with, just don’t book a dining table out when you don’t have one to offer? He then said in ten years he’s been doing things nobody has had a problem dining outside, I’m sorry but a family of 6 couldn’t dine outside in pouring down rain and on a picnic bench, his attitude like the rest of the staff we come in to contact with stank! You can tell where they get it from, he trains themWell! He then said well there’s nothing we can do!Wasted journey from chester! Will NOT go again and certainly will not recommend this place again.

Rang and booked a table for my family outside as the weather was gorgeous..To be told when we got there we had to sit inside as they had booked the table wrong, then to be told by the gent behind the bar that the cleaner answerd the phone and booked it wrong! We then said we didn’t want to sit in as we was told it would be outside or we would have booked somewhere else...The bale gentlemen behind the bar was rude and arrogant!! The gent didn’t apologise once!! After having a look myself outside there was at least 7 empty tables..after some arguing we got a table outside! We sat for 15 mins before being served a drink, they brought the food and forgot my partners meal, by the time we had all ate his came out! He got a drinks order wrong twice (nobody used a pad just Tried to remember our order ) the food was great!! Really nice.. “plates and drinks were left on the tables outside for ages which made the seagulls crowd around which was awful! While we ate! They also forgot a round of drinks which we then waited 20 mins for! To top it off as we sat there not one table was occupied for the duration of our meal, which was a long time as the service was so slow! Don’t know why the man was so unhelpful! Such a shame we won’t be eating here again as service is everything in 2020!’

Booked a table last minute and they managed to find a table for us in the beer garden as requested. There was not a children's menu which was slightly disappointing but as they are little we ordered side orders for them.My stilton burger was absolutely lovely. My husband had the fajitas which were very nice if not slightly too spicy.We did wait an hour and 10 minutes for our food but we were advised there was a delay as it was a busy Saturday night.The beer garden was lovely and well kept. The staff were very courteous. I would recommend this place.

We visited for my Daughter's 12th birthday. Staff were amazing and let my partner visit ahead of our booking and decorate the table and drop off a cake. Food and service were lovely and we never felt rushed. Post covid systems were working well and restaurant was well maintained. Great value and a restaurant I'd happily visit again

When you walked in you could see the outlines of arrows For a one-way system customers which is pushing past to get out the door staff were very rude wouldn’t acknowledge you’ve been there we had a table booked for 8 o’clock but still waiting at 20 past so I got up to ask for my table and then the woman told me the kitchens behind 45 minutes means we had to wait another 45 minutes longer for food The owner allowing customers to come in who not booked tables letting them sit down because he knows him

After 2 amazing meals last summer we were really looking forward to eating here again. Set up was good (table spacing/hand sanitzer etc) but unfortunately our food was nowhere near the outstanding standard that we had experienced last year. The burgers (£12.50) were dry and very dense. Service was ok.

Tried to email before this. arrived here nice beer garden so we thought. Till we looked once we d ordered our food. 4 piles of dog dirt around us on the garden the smell was awful so much so left the food, which was sad as looked so nice.

Staff were rude and made us feel unwelcome as if they did not want us to be there having drinks and brining business to the pub after so long being closed. Took ages to take an order, ages to bring the order and ages to settle bill. Did not feel welcome at all. Such a shame.

Absolutely fantastic food. Service was brilliant. We booked to go on a Saturday early evening. I would advise to book... as we were leaving at 7.30 the place was packed. The portions are big! Which let’s be honest suited us bunch of greedy piggies! If you want cheap quick food, go to McDonalds. If you want good quality food that is worth waiting for then the Red Lion is definitely the place to go.

Nice little local pub close to Prestatyn and as we were in the area and read the good reviews we popped in for an evening meal.Specials board, 2 courses £9.95 - 3 courses £11.95 seemed like good value so we went with that.We opted for a starter and a meal and we both had the breaded mushrooms with a slice of garlic bread, side salad and a garlic mayonnaise dip.The accoutrements were good but the main item (the breaded mushrooms) had unfortunately been fried to within inches of their lives (and possibly refried) as the breadcrumb coating was dark and hard.I also noted a rather unpleasant aroma diffusing from the breadcrumb, as if the oil was old and had been used for frying everything from Mars Bars to Squid...Anyway... the starter was cheap... (what do you expect for a tenner these days??) so on to the main, what could possibly go wrong...I had the breaded plaice (I know what you're thinking - 'what a bad choice' - but i had ordered the main before I had tried the mushrooms) and I was starting to worry by now as this obviously had the possibility of going the same way as the plaice... and when it arrived I could see that my suspicions were well founded.Again the breadcrumbs were again over-done but the worst thing was that the 'plaice' inside the crumb was about 2mm thick.It was a struggle to taste the fish and looking back I wish I had brought this up with the serving staff, or when paying, but as this was our first ever visit I felt compelled to pay the bill and smile...(On the way in from the car park I had noticed a small hole in the sole of my shoe, and thinking back, I should have used the breaded 'essence of plaice' dish as a temporary repair until I was able to visit the cobblers) On a more positive note, my partner had the Welsh beef which scored a solid 7/10 in the Sunday Lunch League, and it came on a bed of mash with some roasties, a Yorkshire pud, gravy and a bowl of veg. All standard stuff, nothing fancy but at least it was edible.Would I go again, maybe... to give them a 2nd chance.... would I have breaded anything.... no - definitely not!!

This is an old village pub that welcomes dogs and serves great food. If you are expecting fine dining then this is not for you, but if you are after a decent pint and some good food then it's perfect. We came for my Husbands Birthday as a family and were pleased not only with the portion sizes but the quality of the food. All cooked fresh and really tasty. 8 of us dined and everyone commented on how much they enjoyed their meals. The prawn cocktail was my particular favourite, along with their ham, egg and chips. Puddings were equally as delicious and ample portions again. They also offer a gluten free menu and the waitress checked about any specific allergies before finalising our order. Overall a tasty enjoyable meal in a friendly pub. We would definitely return.
