We went last Sunday . Not the best dinner iv ever had .shame as it use to be fabulous.

This is a community pub and it only serves food on a Sunday. The food is excellent and the staff are extremely friendly, I highly recommend it.

We were passing thru near stoke on trent and googled best Sunday lunch near me, this place popped up, and it did not disappoint The food was perfect, I had creamy mushrooms for starters and my Missus had prawn cocktail, followed by roast beef dinner for both of us, food and service was excellent.

Went on spec no expectations, found it very pleasent and comfortable environment.... Will defo visit again 👍

Called by chance on a Sunday lunchtime we had a warm welcome and the dinner we ordered was ok the surroundings were welcoming but there's something just not right not sure what, I think it was how the dinner was served to pre-set everyone had the same amount of meat something just needs looking at.

Had a lovely dinner, our waitress was extremely nice and so polite. The pub had a lovely warm friendly atmosphere and a lovely touch having the log burner going.

Lovely roasts, beautifully cooked meat with excellent cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and perfectly cooked veg. Just the right amount and good value. Gorgeous selection of desserts too. Service very friendly and fast, will be back!

Lovely to find a country pub that was busy. Food was great and the service was excellent,waitress, chef and bar staff all very welcoming, friendly and polite. Definitely visit again.

Visited the red lion 3 times well on holiday (twice for food and once for the quiz). Food was great and staff where very friendly!

Went in not knowing what to expect and to be honest not very busy, but what a lovely pub with excellent staff and so friendly. One of the owners told us how passionate he was with taking the place on with someone else, lovely and relaxing restaurant and the food was just perfect and served with hardly any waiting time. Nice bar, outside garden and people who have a passion to make this work. Please try and visit for some super service and food you will love..also good choice of drinks

Had been many times before when the food was excellent. Now absolute rubbish. Went today for a birthday meal. What a let down. Starters sort of ok but the main meal we'll judge for yourself. Beef dinner beef, medium. Rare and it was more rare than medium 1 SLICE of carrot which was so hard it could not be cut 1 item of brocoli, again hard and uncooked not Al dente, 4 green beans again hard cold red cabbage Yuk, 1 huge Yorkshire, cold and hard and 3 rocks of roast potatoes, again had to chisel to break open. Pudding, Xmas with brandy custard, no, ordinary cream brownies that you could not cut with a knife and had to be sent back. All in all the worst meal had in years. So disappointed. Should have gone to McDonald's and I NEVER go there but at least it would have been warm. This is not a value for money place any more. And to be told when complained "I am only the messenger" is beyond belief. Absolute RUBBISH

5/5 Highly Recommended! Wow! What an incredible little find! Wanted a lovely local night, and came across the perfect pub! The Tuesday steak night offer has blown my mind! A perfect rump steak, and an indescribably perfect bone marrow sauce as a side! The staff are friendly, great fun and we're really quick! I cannot stress how great this pub would be for a great date night, solo meal or a family occasion! See you again soon!

Arrived on a Sunday afternoon without booking and managed to grab a table in the bar. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we both ordered the roast beef dinner. The food was very good quality and very tasty. Would like to return at some point and would recommend.

I would definitely have given a five stars for this place if we were given gravy boats with are Sunday dinner. Some people like a lot of gravy and some don't, with a gravy boat people have the option. Apart from that the quality of the food was outstanding along with the service.

Fantastic pub not been here for a very long time even though I only live 5 minutes away, but I will definitely be returning. Booked a table with a friend for a birthday meal, the front of house staff were very pleasant and polite, when I said that I don't drink and did they do mocktails I was told they could make me an alcohol free version but they served an Italian soda made with some lovely flavoured cordials. We both had this and it fantastic and refreshing. We both had the home made pie's, I had the vegetarian version and my friend the shin beef, both dishes presented beautifully and tasted as good as they looked. Then the puddings!!! My friend had the sticky toffee pudding and I had the white chocolate cheesecake, bothe were fantastic. I would highly recommend.

I had been looking forward to eating here for a while as I've eaten the head chefs food before, the food was outstanding, very good quality, perfectly cooked and reasonabley priced, unfortunately it was the saving grace of the experience, the service staff were terrible, from what I understand a lot of the staff is new and this would make sense as they seemed very inexperienced, maybe with time they will get better, the food however as I have said was excellent.

We had the best pie, peas and chips last night! Very well organised with their takeaway service, prompt service. It was all ready for our collection time. Had a takeaway on the 27th Feb what a really nice meal. Will definitely be back once the pubs open.

Great lockdown takeaways. Have had a couple of takeaways now, food is always brilliant, my daughter would choose their pizzas over dominos or pizza hut every time. They're really good with food allergies as well.

Just had a fantastic take away from The Red Lion. It was the usual excellent standard you get in the restaurant. Would highly recommend. Well done to all the staff. Very pleasant experience. We will be ordering again soon.

Amazing meal with the family, unfortunately didn't want to risk having a starter as I knew I had to go for the cheesecake for dessert. Opted for the Ribeye steak with Blue cheese sauce, cooked perfectly and it's ben a long time since I've had one rested in garlic butter! (finally). Definitely a place to visit on your travels for a decent meal, next time will have to go for the pies!

Fabulous steak, best I've had in years!

We visited the Red Lion a week ago and were treated to one of the most delicious meals we've had in a long time ... the menu is lovely and varied with a good childs selection too ... The portions aren't large but are beautifully presented and the food tastes divine ... The staff are really friendly and helpful ... Social distancing measures are well in place for anyone who is conscious about eating out ... would absolutely recommend The Red Lion and would love to return.

Good organisation with separate entrance/exit, tables well spaced, table service, not forgetting lovely food served by friendly and helpful staff. A favourite of ours.
