Brilliant place for a drink, with a great range of beer, wine, and gin. Staff are always very friendly and happy to recommend something to try. Great selection of European beer

Women who ran the bar was absolutely amazing. She was nothing but accommodating had great recommendations for beer! The pork pie she gave us was delicious and she also managed to find and book a last-minute recommendation for a food place to eat around the corner (at 8pm in Leek!) and that also didn’t disappoint! Also if you don’t think you like beer give this spot a try the cherry beers will convert anyone!

We had a great afternoon here with a few weekend papers, great beer, atmosphere and service. I wish I had a place like this near me! There wasn't food but the snacks were decent and the bar staff were helpful in recommending places to eat. A little gem of a place.

It was probably just bad timing,no draught larger on tap,very cold room,and an annoying dog in the back room,which was either barking or whippering, of which the owner did nothing to stop.One plus point was that the lady serving behind the bar was very polite, and friendly.

Visited Den Engles last night for a few drinks! What a fantastic make over this place has had! It looks amazing! Very classy and Quirky! Great atmosphere! Not only that fantastic service from the amazing girl team even down to serving my Coke (designated driver!🤦🏻‍♀️) in a nice "ladies glass "offered every time by your lovely dark haired lady ( sorry can't remember your name but you are fabulous ). Those special extra touches make all the difference! Thankyou❤️

Great range of Belgian and other beers

Really interesting range of funky brews. And the staff are ace. Especially Sue who didn’t skip a beat after i mis-remembered her name twenty years after i last worked with her and called her Nicky.

Popped in for a lunchtime pint, great selection on offer. Friendly staff, made you feel welcome.

I came in for a couple pints first time in leek the girl (black hair)who served us was rude and unwelcoming and I would recommend retraining on all aspects of the bar. The pints which clearly had far too much gas in the line all night and when I questioned this and asked for a top up responded with a hostile reaction. Due to the level of customer service the atmosphere in the bar was deeply effected and negative. When she shouted last orders (@9 when the door says 10pm) she again became hostile with her patrons and further ruined the atmosphere in the bar. When considering this is a bar that attempts to come across as premium in both prices and decor it has clearly failed AVOID THIS BAR!

This ‘Belgium’ bars choice of beer is excellent, most of the beers are served in the correct glass for the beer, it’s like being back in Ghent or Bruges. I’ve not eaten there but for the beer alone it’s well worth a visit!

First visit. Absolutely brilliant. Staying up from Worthing on business. Made to feel welcome as soon as stepped in. Great range of drinks at sensible prices. Ciukdnt be more helpful on selection including free tasters. Highly recommend and I will be back on next visit.

Great pub with plenty of drink options and different seating. Out front has the feel of a spacious micro brewery with out the back feeling more like a traditional pub. Then there's a lovely courtyard out the back with is a sun trap in the late afternoon/evening perfect for that drink in the sun! Friendly and very helpful staff to boot!

It’s been the first time we’ve been in here since it re-opened. The waiting on staff are so incredibly friendly and warm. The beer, as always, is fabulous! Always our favourite place to come for a beer and a chat.

My whole family have been regulars at Den Engel since its inception some 25 years ago. The atmosphere, quality of beers and food and lovely staff make for a wonderful visit every time.

I really enjoyed my visit to this establishment. I loved the feeling of the place, it has a great atmosphere. It's clean and well presented. Staff and customers were extremely friendly and helpful. I liked the window into the cellar. The choice of what to have was amazing, almost overwhelming. Just a great find, and a great place to visit and spend some quality time with quality products, be they beer, gin or any other one of your choice. Would highly recommend!

Great beers. Had a drink when it was not busy so cant really comment on atmosphere, however nice seating in the back to sit in the sun.

Good bar with plenty of good Belgian beers on the go. The barman was very helpful with his suggestions, even on the gins. Music was a bit too eclectic though!

All you can ask for from a local pub. We went on a Thursday evening so you might expect it to be quiet but the atmosphere was decent. The bar staff are friendly and the selection of local ales is fantastic.

An extensive foreign beer range (bottle) and also draught. A little expensive but not surprising. Nice to find European beers I have had drunk in places abroad.

Without doubt a good cross section of popular Low Country beers, nice café setup too. I wanted to love this place, it deserves 5 stars, it's a bold bar willing to challenge the pub norms, it posses a charm and manages to convey the heritage of Belgium without punching your face with cliché (no sign of Tin tin anywhere) ....and here's the but... Bland staff unwilling to draw out a customer relationship with strangers, I felt like they wanted me to leave even as I walked in. I stayed for some beers in the hope they would try to respond to my curiousity about their pub but I swear they just blanked me right out. If a look can kill then theirs are genocidal. Maybe they dislike disabled folk ? Who knows eh ?... I may return, maybe they were having a bad day....? Good beer!
