Excellent food people were very helpful for my mother in law as she is disabled nothing was to much bother service was second to none first time at this pub it was very friendly

We have been here only a couple of times & enjoyed the food Service very attentive & not in your face We went for Sunday Lunch but was disappointed When she served us the gravy went everywhere we nearly ended up wearing it The rest of the Sunday lunch was fairy tasteless I would give it 5 out of 10 Very disappointed We will go again but not for Sunday Lunch Lovely place This is only my personal opinion On Sundays they serve a full menu & the fish & chips looks delicious Will give that a try next time

After visiting one of the longest inhabited castles in England where can you celebrate with a good meal afterwards? The answer is The Red Lion in Wall Hill Road on the fringe of Coventry. This pub in a small village seems to be able to cater for any number of people or parties large or small. There were 14 of us and we didn't have to order in advance. The staff were very helpful. The drinks order arrived quickly and there was a varied set meal choice for two or three courses, specials of the day, plus a full a la carte menu. It didn't seem to be a problem that we chose so many dishes - they all came out together, whether it be starters, main courses or the special home made puds menu. Everyone enjoyed their good and we were made so welcome.

The food was lovely and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome! Thank you to Louise and Bryanna for being amazing.

Having eaten here a few times we have yet to have a poor meal. Good service and value for money. Over our visits we have had two waitresses Frankie & Niam both friendly and efficient. Easy to get to by car and plenty of parking at lunchtime.

Booked a table, arrived early, told to sit at bar and wait, asked if they meant in the bar area, was told no as there was no room in there and to sit at the bar in the main dining room. 5 minutes pass and couple come in with no reservation and were told by same server to help themselves to a table in the bar area next door and order their food at bar. I waited till couple left then asked server if our table was still not available yet could we also use the tables in the bar area to sit and eat, she relied with there's only room in the snug left but to carry on if we want. Baring in mind there were at least 4 empty tables in the main dining area! We ordered our food 2 roast dinners with extra Yorkshire pudding and moved to the bar area in the next room. The snug area was small with high seats and low tables but I was now quite hungry so stayed put. The food arrived but no cutlery so went to find some, got some but they were filthy with dried on sauce on knife and grubby fork. A server was passing and I requested some clean cutlery which came within seconds. The food was not what I was expecting after reading the roast noticeboard I was expecting so much more. The meat was OK thick sliced beef ham and turkey but the rest left a lot to be desired. The board promised roast potatoes but all I had were 3 boiled skin on new potatoes the stuffing was a soggy mess the vegetables were steaming hot but raw obviously microwaved. The gravy although tasty was cold and weak/thin. A different server came to ask how the food was but by the time she asked we had already finished our dinners. Overall 2 poor roast dinners for £42 was a joke. I will not be returning and wouldn't reccomend the place.

Visited this pub looking for food, not local to area. The room was busy and had a good vibe. The food was good and the service was excellent. There was a slight delay on the food, but we were looked after by Louise and Bryanna and offered garlic or cheesy bread while we waited. Overall, it was a very good experience, the only disappointment being we are not in the area longer so we could eat here again.

In the week me and my husband decided to pop in for some lunch we use the red lion frequently but always at dinner time so this was our first time visiting at lunch. We were not disappointed as they have a very wide range lunch menu for a great price we both had 3 courses with was only £20 each, you get a lot less for a much higher price in a lot of places, the Brie wedge was delicious followed by the lasagna and there home made sticky toffee pudding was so tasty. I would recommend this pub to anyone and everyone

As always had an amazing meal at the red lion ! The food came out hot and was delicious. It’s nice to be able to go out and have home cooked food. Will definitely be returning

Came for late lunch. Husband had sausage and mash with onion gravy, 3 sausages were almost black (overcooked on the outside). I had haddock and chips. This was over £50 with a drink each and very poor value for money.

We had Sunday lunch and had a variety of meals between the six of us and found the mail course was very good but was let down by the puddings, the toffee apple pie was undercooked and the hot chocolate fudge cake just tasted of cheap fake chocolate sauce. The drinks- coffee, hot chocolate and coke were all good , the two staff serving Our table Louise & Biyanna gave proper old fashioned service Excellent Many Thanks. We will return because over all it was very good but recommend skipping the pudding unless you have the waffle- 2 in our party had it and loved it, but 4 of us had different puddings and didn't enjoy our any of them. Absolutely terrible service and meal, ordered the salmon, chips and vegetables, after nearly 1hr wait, served a tiny piece of overcooked salmon & 4 new potatoes (menu stated chips) had to ask for the veg which arrived 15 min later to which rest of dinner was cold. No sauce at all. To serve 4 new potatoes,cabbage and a slice of salmon ( I wouldnt have given my cats )for £17 I’m disgusted. This pub used to be our favourite after today we won’t be going back

Visited today for a meal with my elderly mum. Its a bit chilly in the pub and probably worse today as its so cold outside. Louise served us our drinks and we were waiting for our food when she came over and told us a table by the fire had just become available and if we wanted to move there (because my mums hands were cold) she would quickly clean the table for us. We moved tables and Louise brought our drinks over from the other table. The food was really nice. We had Breaded Mushrooms, Lasagne, Ham, Egg & Chips and Rump Steak. Lunch menu 2 courses for £16 with a supplement of £4 for the Steak. The chips were lovely too. Louise's customer care was fab. If you are in the area go and have a meal, you won't be disappointed but wrap up so you dont feel the chill. The only thing that was wrong was the cold and I guess in this weather it would cost a fortune to heat it so it was toasty. The log fires were on and regularly topped up but they don't throw out much heat.

What a lovely Sunday lunch. Only reason for loosing a star is pub gets very busy, consequently we are late and several things on menu were not available. Lovely log burners, great background music, Sunday lunch tasted like proper home cooking. Loved my turkey dinner and caramel apple tart. Will be going back to try the beef when I am sure I will be awarding five stars🤞

Wonderful lunch. First time visiting and we will definitely back. We travelled from Cheltenham to take my disabled uncle out for the day and it was perfect. Went for an early Christmas lunch with friends at our favourite eatery. As usual, the meal was great and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the festive season and the Christmas lunch menu had something for everyone. Arrived late on a Sunday night, pub not very busy but they had a real fire and to full Christmas decorations ! We were served by Charlotte who was friendly and polite. I thought it might be too late for Sunday’s roast dinner but she said it was still available. I ordered gammon & turkey with a side of cauliflower cheese, husband had Tenesee chicken with salad & chips. The food arrived in good time and the roast was 5⭐️ absolutely delicious, food was hot and freshly prepared. Vegetables really nice even had red cabbage 😋 so good it was nearly as nice as my own. Husband chicken was tasty and tender, he really enjoyed it. Couldn’t fault the service and great food, well done to the red lion team, I’ll definitely be back !

We were shown to our table promptly, the pub was warm and cosy, with log fires giving a lovely ambiance. The food was delicious, generous portions and piping hot. The lunchtime menu is fantastic value, two courses for £16 or three courses for £20. The staff were attentive and are an asset to the pub.

My mum and I had a delicious meal, being vegetarian it had a good variety of meals which isn't always the case. Louise the waitress was very polite. I will definitely be returning and would highly recommend!

I dont know where to start, we have been coming to the red lion for years as a family chosing to go here over the bull and butcher. I think Saturday was a turning point for us! We where greated by who appeared to be the manager who's attitude was clear and obvious that she did not wanto be there. Once we were sat down we were just left as we watched and tried to get her attention over and over to no avail. We could not even order drinks and we had to ask to look at the menu's. When they arrived they where in a complete state of taters , everything seemed to be a task when asked. We at this point almost left but decided this is only a one off and it could not possibly get any worse. Gosh were we wrong, after finally getting our drinks we then ordered our food which we waited an unusually long time for it to arrive . some of the food arrived over cooked as if it had just been sitting under a hot lamp. I would like to finish this by saying this has only been one time and the service and food is normally much much better, I hope this reaches the right people and these matters are addressed. other wise I can only see the standard dropping even more and even more customers lost

We have been visiting this pub for a number of years and never been disappointed. Today was as usual very good. Louise was our waitress today and the service was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal

Visited for lunch with my brother, my biggest regret was driving past the Bull & Butcher to go here. No welcome from staff, had to request menu, had to request they take our order and had to request the bill. Staff didn't smile, didn't ask if food was ok and didn't ask if we wanted any more drinks. Food was mediocre. The staff didn't even say thank you when we paid the bill. I won't return and can see why the place was empty. Avoid it.

We returned to the Red lion after a really nice meal for a family members birthday in June. Very disappointing, basic burger meals were burnt, 4’prawns and a garlic bread starter was disappointing . I hoped to have the same quality meal I had in June but the pork belly main was dry over cooked and actually burnt completely on the underside and inedible . In fairness to the staff they were very apologetic and refunded 4 out of the 8 Meals.,. It appeared that they were quick to give the refund like it has been expected.

We had a meal with friends, our second at this pub (and we have booked a third). Very good menu and they were able to adapt some of the dishes to provide gluten free options for my wife. Frankie looked after us very well; she was attentive to our needs but not 'in your face'. Perfect level of service.

The Red Lion is one of our favourite lunch time venues around Coventry. The staff are particularly helpful and friendly and the lunch menu selection is extensive with something for everyone. Highly recommended. Particular recognition to Frankie who went above and beyond to look after us today.

Visited with colleagues and it was a very pleasant experience the staff although were busy did not fail to be attentive and the food was delicious I had the lambs liver and it was cooked to perfection. Will Definitely be returning.

Came for Sunday lunch, have been here many times and have had an amazing experience. This time was very disappointing. Ordered a Camembert and bread starter to share and two Sunday dinners, one beef and one trio of meats. Ordered a side of cauliflower cheese to then be told they had ran out. Starter arrived and the starter had definitely been changed in the past year, onion chutney was more like shredded pickled onions although bread and cheese were lovely. Mains arrived shortly after - no long waiting time but could see alot of other people complaining. I received two slices of beef, Yorkshire, two roast potatoes, a boiled potatoes and a side of greens. My partner received the same but with one slice of beef and one slice of gammon despite ordering a trio. No honey roasted carrots and parsnips as advertised on menu. When pointing this out we were told they had ran out, and also ran out of the third meat. If we were told this previously we would have ordered something else. The waitress was very good although looked very upset but quickly got us a bowl of roast potatoes to make up for it. Bit of a let down meal to be honest. Another waitress then came over to say that for the inconvenience they will do the two mains for £10 each and dessert on the house. It is not the waitresses fault and they were great but if Sunday dinner food is running out it should not be advertised. There were also other people looking very frustrated and complaining. Upon paying the bill we had to point out twice that our bill had be deducted. Disappointing experience and not sure we will return.

Birthday celebration. Table of four great service and gorgeous seabass from the specials menu, it was very busy but service couldn't have been better. Followed with the Belgian waffle and ice cream. Great night, would definitely go again.
