Great little pub with friendly bar staff, welcoming locals and good portions of tasty home made food, certainly proper pub grub and worth a visit!

This is a lovely pub in a delightful little town, with very welcoming staff and real, home-cooked food! It appears to be well patronised by local people, which is always a good sign. It was a very welcome oasis after an exhausting, but satisfying day at Alton Towers. Many thanks.

Nothing fancy. But blimey the food was good! We'd been out all day cycling so we're hungry. If you want a decent burger, gammon steak etc. this is the place. Amazing portions, well cooked and presented. Great, honest British pub food. Good value too! So many places are a rip off these days....

Proper country pub. Food was fantastic and cooked to perfection. Staff were welcoming and helped with everything we needed. Would come again.

I travelled up from kent and spent a couple days in one of the villages around alton towers for my daughters birthday, if you're staying outside the theme park hotels or just looking to get away from it all... I 100% recommend the red lion! The food is next level (better than anything you'll get in any of the theme park restaurants) and the hospitality made us feel like we were locals as soon as we walked through the door. We'll definitely be stopping back in whenever we're in the area.

Came from Bristol to alton towers, & needed to get the family some food. So glad stumbled across pub. Real home cooked food with proper portions.

Had a wonderful few hours chatting and exchanging drinks,singing to great tunes on the jukebox,and the beer was top class..

No bad. Friendly with a swear jar for the c word lol. Bar man/lady are sound Very very very expensive 4 drinks and a shot was just shy of 23 quid same round of voddy and coke 2 pints and a smirnoff ice was just shy of 19 quid.

A great pub with great owners Lisa and George always giving a warm welcome , plenty of places to sit and watch the sports in and outdoors, great service all round

Popped in for a drink and the pub looks amazing after a major refurb...George and Lisa are always welcoming and with their new look pub including a beautiful cosy snug they deserve all the success in the world..

Pub itself was lovely. Regulars made us welcome unlike the bar staff who didn't give us the time of day. More people skills needed
