Fantastic olde pub, great pizza and they allow outside food, nice friendly staff and a great fireplace in Wniter, Dog friendly , great beers brilliant outside beer garden. And located in the nicest part of Manningtree

Pub is notorious for its failures to deal with health and safety issues. It's an old building with potential charm, but that does not excuse casual attitude to repeat falls caused by the unmarked uneven steps. No food normally.

This pub doesn’t do food. You can take your takeaway food in.

Lovely old pub, lot's of snug rooms, two winged leather armchairs in front a wood burning stove. Just needs a chess board. Lovely. (Unique urinals!)

Immediately welcoming. Like walking into your own livingroom, but with a lovely person serving you beer on tap.

Lovely Real Ale Pub. With lots of different areas to sit . This pub doesn't serve food, but you can take some in with you, and there's plenty of takeaway places nearby. Lovely, chatty lady serving. Cheerful atmosphere, friendly locals. Great garden!

The best pub in Manningtree. Friendly and a decent choice of beer. If you bring your own food, they'll give you a plate and cutlery. The adjacent pizzeria is great

What's brown and sticky? A whiskey that smells like paint. After the vapes, we faint. After the walk, we talk, and we chalk (the walls of manningtree). Friendships made, lemonade burgers betrayed. Established 1605, i wonder how many pets at home stores there were then? Good beer 5 stars.

Love this pub especially because they do real ales and cider and if you're suddenly feeling peckish you can get your favourite local takeaway delivered to the pub and eat it. However they do a mean pizza if you fancy that.

It's a good and well run pub with a good selection of beers...how pubs use to be, friendly with a nice atmosphere, we've always had a pleasant time when we've come down from Manchester to see family.

A lovely traditional pub with well kept ale. Nice atmosphere and very comfortable. You can sit inside or outside in a few courtyards. They do not do food, but will supply plates and cutlery if you want to order a takeaway and eat there. Next door is a pizza takeaway with outside seating with is also very nice. I would highly recommend.

We started our witch walk by eating our takeaway fish and chips at this very charming and historical old pub in Manningtree. We enjoyed reading the paragraph about The Red Lion from The Manningtree Withces by A K Blakemore there.

Lovely pub with a good atmosphere. The day we last went unfortunately there were quite a few drunk people in the garden who broke a table and were smoking drugs outside the building. Felt sorry for the poor staff having to clean up their mess. I must say though the amount of times I have visited here it has not been like this and will definitely come back, think it was just a one off.

This is an excellent pub. It has an adjoining Pizza place, but also allows customers to order food from local takeaways, even providing plates/cutlery to use. A good choice of real ales is available.

Quite simply its the best pub in Manningtree

Outstanding venue. In the carefree pre-lockdown world The Red was a cosmopolitan pillar of the community offering everything from awesome live music and occasionally raucous events (Oktoberfest in particular) to super chilled board gaming over niche gins and guest ales. In this brave new world, The Red has implemented the strictest but most pleasant social distancing measures (including deploying a custom web app for remote ordering) and, whilst the events side of the business lies dormant, the timely opening of the adjacent Pizza Place is a happy and delicious win. The town has three awesome pubs, but The Red has to be the winner.

Cozy, nice place to chat and play old fashioned games.

A true gem of a pub. Was here with my mum and son. The wonder lady even gave my mum a birthday bowl of chocolate eggs! We will be back in the coming months.

Such a nice pub! We go have some drinks and play games such as jenga, monopoly, 4 in a row etc! They organise events as well, last time we went to a comedy night and it was sooo good!

Yeah nice in here plenty of places to sit, clean, tidy and decent atmosphere. Best thing is you can bring in your curry or Chinese from down the road as well

Brilliant place for a drink especially those who like their real ales. You have two function rooms that are reasonably priced to hire and not being too graphic I love the loos; the urinals and wash basins are made of old metal beer barrels and the taps are more akin to valve taps.
