Food was banging fresh and out this world

Nearly 2hr delivery time when being told 35/45 mins… rude as hell when asking where the order was, the child on the phone didn’t take the number so when the driver gets here no one will know and when calling back to find out it hasn’t even been sent because he didn’t know if we wanted plain rice or rice and peas putting the phone down and forgetting our side order on a couple occasions we always order but this time the situation wasn’t handled well at all spoke to three different people spent £46 and didn’t eat, poor service let down and they always have some excuse

The honey jerk chicken is just wow 👌 love the atmosphere and the staff are friendly

Popped in with my mum for early supper as our train was delayed and delighted by the many veggie options. Portion sizes were big, we took some home. Mac and cheese was particularly yum 😋 lovely welcoming staff and a great addition to Clacton, highly recommended!

The food is amazing here, I had jerk chicken and honey jerk wings with rice and peas The staff are so friendly and create a great atmosphere, me and my partner basically go there every Friday😁

Owners are really welcoming and friendly, and the food is as good as it gets. Had both the jerk chicken with gravy as well as the curry goat which was unreal. Good music and enjoyable dining area too. Even offer side servings of vegetables.

DELICIOUS!! Lovely food & excellent, friendly service. Best veg patty I have ever tasted. All of the food superb, full of authentic flavour. If you want to give your tastebuds a treat, this is the place!

Had a great meal in Soul Food, the curry goat was delicious, tried a pattie which was great and also Guiness punch which was surprisingly good. Lena and her son Michael gave great service and very friendly. I would definitely recommend to family and friends. I only marked down slightly on atmosphere as it’s a cafe and not a restaurant but I’m sure in time it will be. Thanks guys.😁

Amazing Sunday roast!! First time having this type of sunday roasts and won’t be the last! Was so tasty..defo recommend! Perfect Sunday comfort food! Staff was super friendly and made me feel so welcome! Perfect portion size too. 11/10!!

Can’t recommend these guys enough, proper vibe family run business !! Got jerk chicken and rice and peas, the chicken was soo good and moist, the rice n peas were also really good. Had to get a chicken pattè it's was so tasty, I already want another one. The lady in store was so lovely and welcoming, it's definitely going to be a regular place for me.

What a fantastic find this restaurant is. A bit out of the way from the seafront, but the food holds it own. Fantastic friendly service, authentic Caribbean food, and WOW, the homemade sauce is to die for. If you don't fancy eating out, then definitely take away. 5 *****

Been trying to eat here for a week and it’s not been open even though google says it is!! Tried calling, no answer! I have it 1 star just so I could leave a review. Will not try again, as I’ve always believed what you get in the beginning is what you get in the end!! Such a shame! Can’t add anything else as I got nothing!!

Wow! Where do I start! Had abit of complications with my order due to it being from justeat! The man helped me so much with the phone call and all! Was great service. Unfortunately it was abit to spicy for me (Don’t hate me, was my first time trying Jamaican food) My husband was amazed with how good the food was, he ate the whole thing and he said it brings back happy memories when he was younger! Will be ordering this again 100%

Portion size was great the taste spectacular all around bloody great 👍🏽

We enjoyed the food when it first opened but I think they've changed their chef - the last time we ordered it was dreadful and most of it went straight in the bin! If you want to keep your customers and stay in business, you need to deliver a consistently high standard. Its a small town and word of mouth travels fast!

I saw this place had recently opened whilst driving through Clacton from Frinton-on-Sea. On arriving, I noticed how well the place had been decorated and noticed how clean and inviting it looked. I received a friendly welcome from Kieron the proprietor. I ordered Curry Goat and Rice and Peas and Plantain on the side. Couldn’t wait to get it home to try and WOW and I mean WOW, this has to be one of the best, if not, the best curry goat I’ve ever tasted without exaggeration! The taste and flavour was on point. The boneless cuts of meat were so tender. Purist / traditionalist would say it isn’t real curry goat without the bone however, this did not affect the flavour and the amount of meat you get per portion serving proved to be great value and of course easier to eat! Well done Soul Food, I shall be visiting you regularly even if it means driving all the way from Frinton-on-Sea, it’s well worth it!
