Charming pub on the village green,popped in fir sunday lunch before the village cup cricket match. Had a lovely spinach and mushroom lasagne with a pint of cider, excellent value.

Delicious food. Reasonable value, lovely countryside location. A brilliant large garden too. It's best not to phone as some staff don't make you feel welcomed.

Went for Sunday lunch, the food was excellent and the ales on tap where great. I will definitely be going back.

Lovely pub, but didn't feel welcome. Very cliquey and we were stared at quite uncomfortably as we walked in to order some drinks. No food on offer when we arrived so can't comment on that. The person behind the bar on the other hand was lovely and served a great pint of oakhams citra 👌

Amazing little village pub owned by locals. Good local taps, board games and generally a cosy environment in the middle of nowhere. High recommended and worth going out of the way to visit.

An excellent village pub offering great food, great beer, wine and cider and an exceptionally welcoming atmosphere. This is one of my favourite pubs in the area. If you want a lunchtime snack or an evening meal, if you want to bring the family for a welcome change or a reasonably priced meal when cooking is too much effort. I really cannot find anything bad to say about this gem, I recommend both the Sausage and onion baguette and the Ham, egg and chips as a quick lunch alongside a pint of Aspell's or the Side Pocket.

Fantastic find, a lovely community run pub serving excellent food with a smile. Came across the pub by chance online and decided to give it a go, a refreshingly traditional style greeted us and ordering was done at the bar with a blackboard pinned up to show the menu. I had the mussels to start which were fresh and in a lovely sauce followed by the ham and leek crumble which was very tasty home cooking. Would definitely recommend a stop here.

Great locally sourced food. Beetroot infused Gravlax and Rabbit in cider stew were top quality and very reasonably priced

Had the venison burger which was home made and absolutely delicious. My daughter had the veggi chilli and she said it was lovely. Would highly recommend

Although open from 5.30pm they did not start serving until 6.30pm. You had to pick from the chalk board as there were no menus. I ordered a prawn baguette only to be told they didn't have any baguettes. In the end we just left and went into Hitchin

Stopped here while cycling around Hertfordshire, there was a coronation picnic outside the pub which i was told, was operated as normal. Ive joined the queue to order and when my turn came i was declined a service and been told the pub is shut even though people were buying drinks as usual. There are ways you talk to people/customers but bro was acting like he spat his dummy out and couldn't find it. Shame as I've reviewed this pub before and gave it 5 star and after my ladt visit I won't be coming back for sure.

Definitely in my top 10 pubs in the world. Great beer, relaxed local, good food, in a bit of a time capsule but in a good way. Been back many times. Always a good pint. Had a lovely burger as well this time.

A beautiful pub in a wonderful setting that proudly presents itself as what it is. A friendly comfortable hospital place for friends family and visitors alike. Serving food that has never failed to impress. An establishment proud to be exactly what it is and not pretending to be something it's not. Add to this it's village centre importance and year round welcome and the package is complete. Thank you.

The pub garden is beautiful and has absolutely beautiful scenery, but the food takes very long. About 45 minutes to an hour for a sandwich! It’s quite nice but if you’re impatient I don’t recommend it.

A friendly place to visit or to use as a base for a walk around the countryside. We decided to stop and have a coffee, however we were charged £4 per cup, never again! By the way, the coffee was ok, but not really good either.

I know this is a resident owned pub and it was busy with a full garden, but an hour and 15min waiting for a sandwich to arrive is not right. There needs to be some sort of plan in place for when it gets busy. Nice looking pub and staff smiley and friendly.

We love the food here, all homemade, and really excellent quality. My favourite is chilli crab spaghetti, well worth trying. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Well worth a visit

A very popular community pub with some good beers like 3 Brewers classic and Sidepocket. Good choices of food on the menu including crab an prawns. On-line menu is only a guide as current menu was on the blackboard. Friendly staff. Good local walks from the pub and an old well with winding mechanism which has a interesting history. We'll worth a visit.

Nice local pub. Good range of beers/ ales and other drinks. We had a meal and all enjoyed the food.

Stopped here for a pint or two on bank Holiday Monday part the way around an 11 mile walk. Despite concerns that the pub might be closed, found it was open, and had a couple of very good pints. Would visit again. Chip van in the car park also provided some much need sustenance!

Community owned country pub with large garden. Has several good ales and good quality traditional food, obviously it's been turned into the pub it's owners was wanted. Popular with cyclists during the day and those with cars in the evening.

Stumbled across this pub today on a cold rainy afternoon out walking and what a find..calm warm friendly atmosphere set in a pretty village and the food smelt and looked outstanding I will be back.

This pub has lots going for it but the trampoline is an absolute deathtrap! It’s completely out sight of the main beer garden and today I witnessed about a dozen kids on it at once completely unsupervised! No net around it either!

Great place to watch Lions get thrashed by the Worlds worst rugby team. Beers all free!

This pub was an excellent find on a work lunch. Fantastic setting, friendly staff and really nice beers. Didnt have chance to try the food on this occasion but will definitely be heading back to do just that.

After a hard cycle there’s nothing better than a pint - nice choice of beers available but went for a thirst quenching cider! Friendly staff and a nice garden till it got cold and then went inside for the last couple, enjoyed with a bowl of chips.

Lovely pub with a really good selection of craft ales and a good food menu. Large beer garden and car park. One of my favourites in the Hitchin area and plenty of really good walks to do from here. Looking forward to its reopening tomorrow

Great pub, great food, great staff, very well organized.

Waiting time abysmal, ordered burger and chips, arrived on a cold plate, skinny chips, no option of skinny or chunky, burger was miniature, very tasty though, no side salad a d no coleslaw, wont be back.

We had been to this pub, years ago. It has always been cosy, welcoming and charming. Visited yesturday and by contrast, it was cold, unwelcoming and the whole place smelled of fish. No atmosphere at all. Great shame.

Took our daughter here for a lunchtime meal. Great selection of ciders and real ales. Food great, wife and I had Place, daughter had fish pie. Would definitely go again, can't wait.
