What a difference........great makeover....looking really smart.......plenty of room and tables.....smashing pool table area....... excellent hard working staff.....good food and drink selection....and it's busy.....so good atmosphere!!Well done. Food, as always, is excellent. Can be a tad, noisey and echoing at times. Recommend the steak pie.

Stopped in for drinks and food before a wedding reception in Prestwick. The staff are very friendly and good atmosphere. The drinks are very reasonably priced and good deals on food. We had 2 courses and then shared a dessert. In better weather, I'm sure the beer garden would be excellent. Downside where gents toilets, 2 out of 4 urinals were taped off and 1 of the 2 stalls was unusable, I assume the flush wasn't working, not pleasant.

Food was average and overpriced, was overall disappointed with the service, although the staff were attentive. My bill had to be processed twice because a staff member made a mistake.I will now have to wait a few days for amount to be reimbursed back to my account,not happy.

Pricing was confusing on the way in. The menu was a professors dream with the initial “from £13.95” to £15.95 with supplements all over the menu. The food was of reasonable standard although a tad sparse for the cost. Our starters Tempura £6 odds however has a £2 odds supplement. It was good however 5 strips of chicken was the serving. I had Fajitas for main and it was just ok. My wife had the Cajun chicken with a thimble of rice, not good value. Sweet, erm, no thanks. With a lager and a can of coke £49. Not good value and we will try somewhere else next week. 3/5 is very very fair.

Just had the worst experience ever in a restaurant was supposed to be a nice Mother’s Day meal to treat my mum who looks after my dad with Alzheimer’s arrived at our booked table to be told you only have 2hours. ok it’s busy no problem had our meal which as regulars was ok for this waitress to walk past and tell us we have a half hour left wasn’t even finished my dessert. Went and paid our bill which was over £100 went to finish our drinks she walks past again and says this is 5 minute warning I need this table I said to her she was very rude to be told it’s busy I need the table I said we booked at 3.30 so should at least have till 5.30 but no she made us feel terrible and everyone looking at us I said I don’t see you telling anyone else it totally spoiled my mums day out will never be back .

We booked a table in the restaurant 2 weeks before we went. When we arrived we were told that our table was set up in the bar. When we told the man that was dealing with us that we had booked the restaurant he just said I don’t have any tables available. He was extremely unhelpful and could not have cared less that we were unhappy about being put in the bar. As a result we left and went elsewhere for lunch. We will definitely not be back and will not recommend The Red Lion to anyone.

Went to red lion for my husbands birthday 4 of us in party. Menu stated 2 courses for £12.95 which 3 people had and i just had the steak pie even with supplements and drinks we were over charged £6.45. Even after i queried my bill. When i checked it again at home the 2024 menu states 2 course meals are £14.95 so why are they using out of date menus??? We enjoyed all our food and service was very good, however this has put me off as i dont like getting done....you need to update the menus as we were not informed of price changes and it was our first visit....

I had the ribeye steak, not worth the money, could only eat about a third of it the rest was just fat and inedible. One mushroom and an odd looking half cooked tomato. The chips were nice though.

Thoroughly went through menu and when one part of food order was slightly wrong she immediately corrected it! Now by todays standards that is a member of staff who has hospitality customer service down to a tee through &through! Well done Ashley, you made our visit feel very speacial! Food was lovely! I ordered a rare fillet steak and most don't get it right but it was perfect. Kids loved their meals too. Atmosphere was lovely too, that of a family friendly place but also caters to those that are not with children. By this I mean, seating is strategically placed which is perfect for anyone to visit. Background music was good and not too loud so you could have conversation without feeling overheard. All in all this is a great wee place to visit. Good prices for food and drink( alcohol included) . The stand out of the day was Ashley though, when I choose a place to eat I want and love the staff to be down to earth, knowledgeable about locality (places to visit/explore) but most of all know the menu. So thank you Ashley and to all the other hospitable staff and to the kitchen staff for a lovely 3 course meal had by 4 of us. It really was a fabulous Sunday afternoon meal in a lovely atmosphere. Well worth a visit!

Love the Red Lion. The food was great and the staff were excellent. Really comfortable and friendly.

Went for breakfast decided on the pancke stack and maple syrup .turned up it was 3 shop bought cold pancakes on a plate with some warm golden syrup on them i didnt eat them all .we go regularly for lunch which is always delicious but wont go again for breakfast .

Cosy pub with good food at reasonable prices, staff very friendly and approachable. For an older pub it’s clean and modern. The beer, wine and spirits are of plentiful and again very reasonably priced.

The Red Lion never fails to deliver - great food and sensible prices. We had a table of 14 and they managed all the food out ant same time all hot and even managed to do us 3 separate bills which was no easy task. Would always recommend for lovely service and great food

First time in this pub. Went there for a Xmas Dinner. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was great as was the meal.

A lovely space and backyard when looked at from the outside. The service was unfriendly and unwilling to accommodate us. I visited on a chilly summer eve and they refused to switch on the heaters, or the fairy lights. Perhaps because we were the only ones sitting there? Because we were "only a couple"? Nobody checked if okay with our drinks and if we'd like to order something else either. Very attractive from the outside, a fiasko if you expect to have a romantic time. The drinks were okay...the hot drink was partly spilled over when brought to the table and no offer to bring a new one by the server 😔

Staff were very attentive and welcoming. Was shown to our pre-booked table very quickly. Orders wer taken promptly. The food was exceptional, looked amazing, tasted even better, very hot. Desserts looked amazing and tasted as good as they looked. Good variety on the menu, would suit all needs. Great value for money. Would definitely be back

Everything was great even down to the background music. My only issue, and I did point out to staff, is that the 2 course deal did not have a salad option, salads were available just not in the deal. Never had a bad experience here, fab place for food or even just a drink 👍😁

Average food and the service not friendly

The first time in the red lion, the sunday roast was amazing. The wife had the cajun chicken wraps said they were the best ever.

Popped in here yesterday while on a night out in Prestwick. A decent pint but the atmosphere just wasn’t for us - stayed for a swift one and headed elsewhere. Review based on that only - i’m sure the food will be spot on.

The interior of the pub looks great but the food was bland and did not tast good. Fries were way to salty, chicken was way to spicy and the lasagna was tasteless. Prices were low but so was the quality.

We stopped here for lunch. Got to be honest we we were not expecting much. How wrong we were. A great choice on the menu, typical pub food, but boy, it was great. I ordered the rump steak. It was cooked to perfection medium rare. It set us up for the long journey home. Thanks guys.

Great pub for atmosphere & service

Was there for Prestfest so it was busy, staff and seating was great

Booked for a late lunch, as I’ve known the place to be popular before. Glad to do so as the place filled up pretty quickly. Staff were prompt and friendly as they took our drinks order. It took us a while to decide what our food choices were due to the variety on offer. I had nachos, and my companions had Cullen skink and tomato bruschetta. All were demolished and we were in great anticipation of what was to come. We were not let down in our choices of Cajun chicken, Supreme of chicken and fish and chips. I would go so far as to say these were the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The only problem I had - was there was mint in the mushy peas, sorry but that is sacrilege (personal preference). I was so full I couldn’t manage a sweet, but the others had lemon meringue pie and mars bar cheesecake. Again plates were cleared and I think this was a fair showing of just how excellent the food was. Staff were polite, friendly and good humoured and with great value for money I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Food and service was phenomenal music was wee bit loud but was still nice.

Atmosphere really good but nachos soggy and not crisp

Went in today at 4.30pm. They were 4 tables taken in the restaurant and at the top of the bar in the quiet tables two rambles were taken. They offered my husband and myself a table at the far end of the bar which was so noisy I refused to sit there. So why wasn't I offered another place in those empty seats. It has put me off going back into the Red Lion.

Was in for dinner with friends yesterday and food was amazing and brillaint prices . All the staff were amazing and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great night and we can’t wait to come back for next monthly catch up!!!!

Was in here today for breakfast, my partner wanted a top up for her tea. So the lovely waitress gave extra hot water to top up, and if we needed a tea bag, that we'd need to pay, which I was totally fine about, and the atmosphere was lovely, she checked back on the table as you do, but not to overwhelming. There was a big group, the tow bar group came in very lively, but the bar staff kept having laugh aka Steph kept them in line as per usual, she's such a great asset the business. I would definitely come back to this venue. And she even gave me the menus for lunch via the app. And noticed they did both indoor and outdoor which are differently priced which Steph us perfectly aware off, which we were very grateful for. Abd can understand why they are 2 separate menus and prices after she explained everything to myself and my partner in great detail. Also has said if we ever wanted to create a party atmosphere that they have separate menus for that also. As we were thinking of having our anniversary party here. She also has mentioned that her boss Kerry is great with the of tip and the fact they are all split evenly as previously we have had very bad dining and given to the wrong people. Hence why we ask. Thank you to all the fabulous staff that make this venue what is it is today.

Busy wee place. The food was good service with a smile. There is no issue with the kids getting an adult starter as their main meal.

We visited this morning for breakfast after being last week before our holiday. We were delighted with the value of the food we had previously and vowed we would be back when we returned. However this morning we attended and ordered the exact same as we had previously but we’re charged £5 extra for what I can only describe as a ridiculous reason. Previously I had been able to build my own breakfast which was excellent so I did the same this time however with less items. When the bill came we noticed I had been charged for 4 items at same price as last time and charged £4.22 for scrambled eggs on toast - which I had not ordered. When I questioned this I was told that was the price of my poached egg and slice of toast I had ordered. I questioned how an egg and slice of toast was costing more than 2 sausages and 2 potato scones. The staff member came across that she couldn’t be bothered with the hassle and at no point apologised for the confusion. Overall my partner ate a large breakfast for £6 which had 10 items and I was charged £8.22 for 6 item. Sadly we will not be back for breakfast again as I am so disappointed in how this was dealt with.

Book a Pacific a table 3 day's before didn't happen (good job the person in the wheel chair couldn't manage) 2 dishes sent back extremely disappointed I certainly wasn't be back

Great food great service but be warned very loud inside

Visited here today, with my family and my dog for food and drinks after a walk along the beach. Arrived at the beer garden , fully aware that my dog can not go inside the premises. I went inside to get some menus and was given the beer garden menu, which had nothing on which we liked. I knew this pub advised the 2 course for £11.99 so I asked the bar staff if I can get this menu. The women was rude and said “No” that’s for inside only, in a sharp tone. I said I didn’t like anything on the other menu and she shrugged. I left and went back outside shocked. So inside you can get 2 courses for £11.99, in beautiful surroundings and table service, while outside was dirty and you had to go inside to order on a more expensive menu. How strange. It’s a real shame as I have eaten in here many times and always found the food nice with friendly staff, however after today I will not return.

We dined here for lunch with our dog. Signs outside advertise a meal deal for 2 courses from £11.95. Great. My husband collected menus for the beer garden- where dogs are allowed - and no deal listed. We decided to stay anyway and headed inside to order. Turns out you can get the meal deal inside, but not outside, and that there is a much more extensive menu to dine inside. I don't really get why the restaurant would exclude customers from enjoying the full menu just because they have a dog and are dining outside. The offering inside was definitely superior to outside - dirty tables and ants crawling around on the floor - so surely they should be charged extra? V disappointing as we picked the place specifically because we saw the deal listed. My sons would have definitely enjoyed more choice than was on the beer garden menu.

I cannot say anything good about food or atmosphere but outside menu for guests with digs is different than inside menu. That's ugly. Thanks.

As a pub was average, but the food was very good.

Expect a pleasant surprise when you enter the Red Lion, as the contemporary inside decor is far removed from the traditional exterior. The staff are attentive, efficient and knowledgeable. The menu is extensive and adaptable to dietary needs. The chicken dishes are well cooked, well presented and plentiful.

First time in won't be my last. Well done Red Lion

We booked here as we were in Prestwick for the day and we will definitely be back . 2 courses for 12.95 even at the weekend is fantastic value . Our choices had a supplement but it wasn’t a lot and overall value for money was excellent. We had our 3 month old granddaughter with us and the staff were super nice keeping her laughing and smiling. The food was excellent with the fish some of the best I have tasted . Also had tikka skewer cheeseburger haggis pakora prawn tempura all fabulous but the fish and chips was excellent. Will be back without a doubt

I love the Red Lion for food & the staff are so friendly. My only complaint is the DJ, he plays great songs but for gods sake turn it down a little, we ended up having to shout over the music. This was the only thing that spoiled a lovely night!

Advertised as dog friendly. Not that I experienced. Walked in pub an asked bar staff if I could bring in my dog. Was told no. Customer advised me to go to beer garden where dogs are allowed. I walked round to beer garden and was met by another bar staff who immediately informed me that dogs were not allowed. Apparently dogs are allowed but if you're on your own with the dug your not allowed in the bar to order a drink. Great customer service!!!

One word superb thank you made our weekend

The food is excellent and all the staff are really great. We're local and eat there a couple of times a month. The food is always fresh, hot and very tasty. Can't ask for more. If you plan to go at the weekend, especially for dinner, you're better to book although we've never been turned away as we usually eat early evening.

The food was lovely. It was a very hot day and asked if I could get my Sunday roast outside in the beer garden. Was told no . I couldn’t, even though it was about 10 steps away. Think this rule is a bit ridiculous 😡

The red lion is not only a great bar with brilliant atmosphere but also the best restaurant around the food is always outstanding as is the service. We were in tonight celebrating our sons 18th birthday and once again the food was fantastic our servers Ashley and kieron made sure we had everything we needed which isn't easy when your a table of 11 and the restaurant is full. Have not been in this place for years was quite busy when in has beer garden under cover was in with 6 pals ok pub did not have food hence no stars.

Fantastic venue with attenticve staff including the very attractive blonde bar lady. Nothing too much trouble and the pub was very hospitable and we will certainly return next time we are in Prestwick. Good pool table too.

Have been here a lot of times over the years with ownership changing hands and my first proper time back was at Christmas for a meal. The food is decent but the service is atrocious , I think at Christmas I was overcharged for the meal but I wasn’t going to grumble about a tenner. Last month however went for lunch and the service was non existent, taken a drinks order initially then about another 15 mins before taking our food order. The food again was decent, we had both ordered desserts, one dessert came and waited for the other. Said to one member of staff after 10 mins and they said they’ll go get it - they didn’t. Then said to another member of staff and after that just asked them to leave it. When it came to the bill the same scenario, we had waited about and had asked twice one member of staff just waving us off and the next forgetting too so just went up and paid it. Same with that time around Xmas just went up and paid it. Would definitely come here more often if the service was better but the service here is that tikes non existent.

We found this hidden gem in Prestwick after popping into Wetherspoons, which was mobbed out. What a pleasant dining experience in the restaurant at the rear of the pub. The food and service was excellent. Staff were so pleasant and attentive. The Lasagne is probably the best I have tasted. Very reasonable prices @ 11.95 for a 2 course. Highly recommend.

Pool table, friendly efficient staff.

The food here is fairly typical for pub food. I feel like the quality of the food has dropped a bit over time. I went in for lunch for the first time in quite a while and was surprised to see the quality of the lunch was higher than the dinner offerings even though the menu is nearly identical. Recommend you make a reservation as the place can be very crowded any day of the week and you may have difficulty getting seated in the restaurant.
