Really disappointed to not be allowed in the restaurant for my lunch after I had booked a table there. Was given a table in the bar area that I had sat in the previous night without a booking. Yes I obviously should have said to them.

food was delicious, steak pie, the chunks of steak were soft and falling apart, so tender, the veg was lovely, the chicken was well cooked, pepper sauce was lovely, chips and mash were very tasty. great portion sizes.

Driver apologised that the bag had burst, so 2/10 for presentation! But - tasted really good and was glad we’d ordered.

Relaxed atmosphere, lots of space and different areas to sit. Good menu.

Basic pub food.....bruschetta starter was so hard I couldn't cut it with my knife.....sausage and mash in red onion gravy average at best......my wife's burger came with what was quite obviously frozen chips. Wasn't the worst I've ever had but after reading about people raving about the food I was somewhat disappointed.

The food was one of the worst meals that we have had . The tempura was in one lump and was difficult to bite through. The chips were disgusting . We are very disappointed with our meals .

Meal was delicious, pleasant waitresses, music was a bit too loud but there again we'd chosen to sit right under a speaker. Pretty busy with plenty of regular customers.

First of all, atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The restaurant area is very nice and the ‘bit out the back’ was lovely. My friend and I had a drink out there after lunch. The bar atmosphere was also nice and relaxed with a few guys in to watch football. TV’s everywhere for people watching the football, which we weren’t, but it’s not imposing or loud. PRICING: I agree with a previous commenter that the prices are confusing and also a bit of a rip off when you consider that it’s £13 for a sandwich. There’s supplements for quite a few dishes on the “2 courses for £15.95” menu so it isn’t really true to its word and is looking to capitalise on every meal. For example, the lasagne doesn’t come with chips - or salad. It comes with a small slice of garlic ciabatta (which was delicious!). This isn’t reflected on the website which shows a photo of lasagne with chips and salad. Also I notice on the website the set menu has increased by no less than £3 in the past few months. The pricing is further confusing on the drinks menu where a glass of Prosecco is £6.30, but add some fruit juice to it to make it a cocktail and it’s £6! Although they did try to charge me £80 on the receipt. I also would not be impressed at paying £13 for a burger, £4.50 extra if I want the privilege of a slice of cheese (toppings can only be bought in 2’s so bacon and cheese for example, but I don’t like bacon on a burger so 🤷‍♀️) then an extra £3.75 for chips with it. It would be understandable if the food was exceptional, but it isn’t worth what is charged for it. FOOD: My friend ordered Cajun chicken crepe which came with Cajun fries. All looked nice and she seemed happy although is usually complimentary with food but wasn’t really on this occasion. I didn’t try as too spicy for me. I ordered from the 2 for £16 menu as I fancied the goats cheese crostini starter. The goats cheese and small salad with a balsamic glaze was nice. The crostini was way softer than a crostini should be though and for £7 I’d expect the crunch of some pine nuts with it. I paid a £1 supplement to have this starter. Of the non-supplemented main courses, 4 of 7 contain cajun or haggis so if you don’t like these and want something beyond the mac n cheese or sausages, you can easily make at home, you’re definitely paying a supplement. The plain hamburger in the set menu doesn’t even include chips. There’s definitely a lack of variety to the set menu. I would never normally order lasagne but it was the only thing on the main options of the set menu that I’d eat so lasagne it was. The server said “and would you want a wee portion of chips with that”, quite nonchalantly upselling, as if it was no extra cost to me. More bechamel and pasta than meat sauce in the lasagne, as can be typical when eating out, but it was tasty, although was swimming in grease. There was a literal puddle in the food. I know sometimes this can happen with lasagne but not to that extent which was a shame. I was glad I asked for the starter to be brought together with the mains as I used the salad from it to eat with my lasagne. The staff are lovely and atmosphere was so nice. I’d probably return here to eat, I’d just choose something else. And make sure to get an overdraft if I want to pay up to £16 for a sandwich 😅

Visited Father’s Day . It was a set three courses for £24 . Food was delicious and excellent value . Staff were friendly and service was quick . I gave 4* as decor is badly in need of a facelift but food and drinks were good value .

Bar was empty and was told we were being loud and disturbing people eating even though the restaurant was at the other side of the building. The barman with the short hair and glasses was rude, should learn customer service, spent hundreds of pounds in there yesterday. Went to the bottom of the bar and couldn't hear any noise from our table with the music that was already playing, what a despicable lie. Shameful!

The food was lovely , but the pots that held the dip had melted with the heat from the food and were just about impossible to open .

The place has been done up recently and is looking good. There was also a very good live band.

Food standard pub grub menu but very enjoyable to eat. Served within about 15/20 mins not rapid but not too long, portions adequate but could be bigger. My son had chicken tempura for starter and he ate it all, Cheese-mac as main with garlic bread he also enjoyed it but couldn't finish, myself had steak pie with spuds and veg, I also had an empty plate so no complaints. Staff also very well trained, friendly, well presented, organised and good at their jobs

lovely meal best cajan chicken I've tasted . lovely seasoning and sauce was so good had the left overs on my chips too lol . kids loved there meals also . arrived very quickly and courier friendly and helpful x

Very good meals served by helpful pleasant staff good value and portions well presented. Some people not happy with having to wait for their meals but if restaurant is busy (a good sign)you must expect a slight delay. Will point out that Ashley who waited on our table was more than pleasant ,nothing was a problem to her even when under pressure from an irate customer ,maintaining a dignified and professional manner.

Quality food for very reasonable prices. I cannot fault the food or service you receive here from all the staff, especially from Ashley. She always goes out her way to do her best for you and make sure you have an enjoyable evening and always goes the extra mile. Even tonight with a drunk customer that was loud the full night, shouting in her face and calling her all sorts, she handled it very professionally with a calm demeanour. We visit here regularly and highly recommend it.

Was supposed to be cajun fries but was just ordinary fries and there was no taste offcthe so called cajun sauce. really disappointed with it.

It was busy & therefore quite loud but it didn't spoil our visit too much. The onion rings & fries were a bit greasy but the burger & coleslaw were lovely

Stopped in for drinks and food before a wedding reception in Prestwick. The staff are very friendly and good atmosphere. The drinks are very reasonably priced and good deals on food. We had 2 courses and then shared a dessert. In better weather, I'm sure the beer garden would be excellent. Downside where gents toilets, 2 out of 4 urinals were taped off and 1 of the 2 stalls was unusable, I assume the flush wasn't working, not pleasant.

Food was average and overpriced, was overall disappointed with the service, although the staff were attentive. My bill had to be processed twice because a staff member made a mistake.I will now have to wait a few days for amount to be reimbursed back to my account,not happy.

Food was late, overpriced, cold, with a small portion and the chicken was too tough. I ended up having to shove it in the microwave to make it passable. The only redeemable feature was the sauce was kinda good, but that's it.

Pricing was confusing on the way in. The menu was a professors dream with the initial “from £13.95” to £15.95 with supplements all over the menu. The food was of reasonable standard although a tad sparse for the cost. Our starters Tempura £6 odds however has a £2 odds supplement. It was good however 5 strips of chicken was the serving. I had Fajitas for main and it was just ok. My wife had the Cajun chicken with a thimble of rice, not good value. Sweet, erm, no thanks. With a lager and a can of coke £49. Not good value and we will try somewhere else next week. 3/5 is very very fair.

I received a message saying my meals were delayed . The meals were lovely . I had asked for no hoi sin dip . The tub of hoi sin had burst and was through my tempura which is off putting.

Just had the worst experience ever in a restaurant was supposed to be a nice Mother’s Day meal to treat my mum who looks after my dad with Alzheimer’s arrived at our booked table to be told you only have 2hours. ok it’s busy no problem had our meal which as regulars was ok for this waitress to walk past and tell us we have a half hour left wasn’t even finished my dessert. Went and paid our bill which was over £100 went to finish our drinks she walks past again and says this is 5 minute warning I need this table I said to her she was very rude to be told it’s busy I need the table I said we booked at 3.30 so should at least have till 5.30 but no she made us feel terrible and everyone looking at us I said I don’t see you telling anyone else it totally spoiled my mums day out will never be back .

We booked a table in the restaurant 2 weeks before we went. When we arrived we were told that our table was set up in the bar. When we told the man that was dealing with us that we had booked the restaurant he just said I don’t have any tables available. He was extremely unhelpful and could not have cared less that we were unhappy about being put in the bar. As a result we left and went elsewhere for lunch. We will definitely not be back and will not recommend The Red Lion to anyone.

The meal was lovely and hot . And the fries were excellent much nicer than the usual skin on fries .

Went to red lion for my husbands birthday 4 of us in party. Menu stated 2 courses for £12.95 which 3 people had and i just had the steak pie even with supplements and drinks we were over charged £6.45. Even after i queried my bill. When i checked it again at home the 2024 menu states 2 course meals are £14.95 so why are they using out of date menus??? We enjoyed all our food and service was very good, however this has put me off as i dont like getting done....you need to update the menus as we were not informed of price changes and it was our first visit....

I had the ribeye steak, not worth the money, could only eat about a third of it the rest was just fat and inedible. One mushroom and an odd looking half cooked tomato. The chips were nice though.

Love the Red Lion. The food was great and the staff were excellent. Really comfortable and friendly.

Went for breakfast decided on the pancke stack and maple syrup .turned up it was 3 shop bought cold pancakes on a plate with some warm golden syrup on them i didnt eat them all .we go regularly for lunch which is always delicious but wont go again for breakfast .

Cosy pub with good food at reasonable prices, staff very friendly and approachable. For an older pub it’s clean and modern. The beer, wine and spirits are of plentiful and again very reasonably priced.

The Red Lion never fails to deliver - great food and sensible prices. We had a table of 14 and they managed all the food out ant same time all hot and even managed to do us 3 separate bills which was no easy task. Would always recommend for lovely service and great food

Shambles staff rude slow and I'd just avoid never be back. Customer's at bar slagging off young bar staff being sexual whilst children are sitting within ear shot. Certainly NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!!!

A lovely space and backyard when looked at from the outside. The service was unfriendly and unwilling to accommodate us. I visited on a chilly summer eve and they refused to switch on the heaters, or the fairy lights. Perhaps because we were the only ones sitting there? Because we were "only a couple"? Nobody checked if okay with our drinks and if we'd like to order something else either. Very attractive from the outside, a fiasko if you expect to have a romantic time. The drinks were okay...the hot drink was partly spilled over when brought to the table and no offer to bring a new one by the server 😔

Staff were very attentive and welcoming. Was shown to our pre-booked table very quickly. Orders wer taken promptly. The food was exceptional, looked amazing, tasted even better, very hot. Desserts looked amazing and tasted as good as they looked. Good variety on the menu, would suit all needs. Great value for money. Would definitely be back

Everything was great even down to the background music. My only issue, and I did point out to staff, is that the 2 course deal did not have a salad option, salads were available just not in the deal. Never had a bad experience here, fab place for food or even just a drink 👍😁

Average food and the service not friendly

The first time in the red lion, the sunday roast was amazing. The wife had the cajun chicken wraps said they were the best ever.

Popped in here yesterday while on a night out in Prestwick. A decent pint but the atmosphere just wasn’t for us - stayed for a swift one and headed elsewhere. Review based on that only - i’m sure the food will be spot on.

The interior of the pub looks great but the food was bland and did not tast good. Fries were way to salty, chicken was way to spicy and the lasagna was tasteless. Prices were low but so was the quality.

We stopped here for lunch. Got to be honest we we were not expecting much. How wrong we were. A great choice on the menu, typical pub food, but boy, it was great. I ordered the rump steak. It was cooked to perfection medium rare. It set us up for the long journey home. Thanks guys.

Been many times before and I've never been disappointed the staff are all friendly and food is amazing well done

Was there for Prestfest so it was busy, staff and seating was great

Booked for a late lunch, as I’ve known the place to be popular before. Glad to do so as the place filled up pretty quickly. Staff were prompt and friendly as they took our drinks order. It took us a while to decide what our food choices were due to the variety on offer. I had nachos, and my companions had Cullen skink and tomato bruschetta. All were demolished and we were in great anticipation of what was to come. We were not let down in our choices of Cajun chicken, Supreme of chicken and fish and chips. I would go so far as to say these were the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The only problem I had - was there was mint in the mushy peas, sorry but that is sacrilege (personal preference). I was so full I couldn’t manage a sweet, but the others had lemon meringue pie and mars bar cheesecake. Again plates were cleared and I think this was a fair showing of just how excellent the food was. Staff were polite, friendly and good humoured and with great value for money I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
