The best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! The customer service from the gentleman who delivered my food was outstanding, such a lovely man. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a great place for fish and chips.

New location for the Red Cafe chip shop, same excellent service and quality. Hot tasty Fish and Chip tea for 2 , delivered to the door within 30 minutes.

I had takeaway fish and chips although you can eat various other dishes in the cafe. Nice clean interior. Friendly helpful staff. Takeaway Fish and Chips tasted great. The chips were a good size and not scrappy. The fish was a good size with nice crispy batter. The whole meal tasted nice as though the cooking oil was fresh. Would highly recommend the Red Cafe.

I miss the red cafe locally(Higham Rd),so delivery, fish good, chips good but I miss going in to place an order and waiting, it’s not the same but still good.

Chips were totally undercooked and very clearly been blanched. They were cold and hard in the middle which made them completely un-edible. When trying to call the shop and complain there was no answer on numerous occasions which is very poor service. We will not be using again.

When you have a good service and delicious food you must post a comment. I’ve had a few meals from the Red cafe Chippy Rushden and I’ve never had a bad one. The website is easy to use. They always inform me what’s happening the food is always on time and it’s always hot and fresh. Service with a smile . Thank you for a delicious meal! The most value for money

Food is disgusting. Oily, poor quality and so not worth the money. Will never, ever order from here again. AVOID AT ALL costs!

One October 2920 the other January 2021. When we phoned to complain about the drinks, we were basically called liars. We have been refunded for the whole order, so please about that. But obviously we kept 2 cans of coke in our living room window for nigh on a year just to screw them over for 2 cans of drink. I don't think so. Never never again. Some people on here have had a good experience with them. We were obviously the unlucky ones.

My wife went and got us fish and chips from here on 12/6/21 and there was 2 other people waiting for their order and waited then 2 other people came and placed their orders and they were both served before me and I had simple order fish and chips twice, and when I got them open they were not that good anyway so won’t be going back

First time we have had Fish and Chips from here. have to say it was the best fish and chips we have had for a long time . lovely young girl serving, and training a young lad as well. so pleasant , could not fault the service or the food , as the saying goes ' I will be back' would recommend these fish and chips to everybody Rob stone

Chips were cold chips were hard - fishcakes were dry at base - and £2.50 for a southern fried chicken breast RIP off - more like half a dry chicken breast buy 6 for £2 in Iceland - £20 dinner with more of a £14/15 value I wont order again cheaper chippies out there with more quantity and better quality 1st time they opened - they were fab - very nice now went down hill novelty worn Disappointed!!

Fancied a chippy dinner for a change so as I live within walking distance I decided to use Red Cafe for the 1st time. I ordered on line arranged a collection time and was greeted by bubbly, friendly and efficient young lady. Portions were good food was fresh, hot and all importantly gorgeous. This is a well oiled operation and if nothing changes I shall be a weekly customer. Faultless!!

Too expensive. £5 for a piece of cod.

If you like your cod huge, and in a crispy golden batter, then you will like this place. They do fish and chips properly! The cafe is impeccably clean and the staff are very friendly. The cod gets its individual box, as do the chips and that means when you bring them home they are a delight to eat. Still crisp and not soggy. I saw the onion rings in the hot box and they look a delicious treat. I may have to try next time I'm there. The price is worth it for the quality of their product. If you want good fish and chips, then try this crispy golden gem

First time order for delivery via just eat Food arrived on time but fish batter was tough and dry in parts and chips luke warm at best Whilst I only live a few mins away tried delivery as post 3 night shifts and exhausted Very disappointed as food cold after 5 mins of starting to eat could not finish and discarded rest also more batter than fish unlikely to reorder again

There is a lot to be said about quality then quantity, regular cod and hardly any cod inside, just all batter. Last time I used them I had a battered sausage and it was so hard my son couldn't eat the batter, but you do get plenty of chips. Won't be wasting my money again...

Phoned to pre order but nobody answered the phone and was ringing for ages, couldn't order online as it was shut.... Walked past but was open....got chips up the road.

Been using red cafe since they opened, 90% of the time food has been great until tonight. Was told we couldn’t order certain items as they weren’t available, yet were sat there in the warmer, to then be told they were for online customers only, okay then. Got the food home, chips were over cooked and Luke warm at best. Undercooked batter on the fish. So disappointed. And sadly won’t be returning to what was once our fave.

I ordered food at 6.30pm food arrived at 7.30pm.... the food has arrived cold we have had to warm our food up in the microwave...complete and utter joke.

Never tried the Red Cafe fish & chips before,so we decided to visit on a Saturday evening,they did not seem very busy,so we went in and ordered.Our order was sorted out,and within a few minutes we were on our way.Summing up,the portions were very generous,and more than adequate for hungry diners.The chips seemed to be rather dry,and may have been warmed up from earlier,?the fish was quite large.Staff were very polite,and their seemed to be several people working hard.Prices seemed on the high side,for the average level of quality.

Just picked up 2 large cod, chips and mushy peas, large cod, there was more fish in 3 fish fingers and what cod was there was dried out like paper and very tough, it's been a while since we used you and it's going to be longer before we come back, the only bit worth eating was the peas, but that makes at £17.90p very expensive peas.

Good chips - not swimming in grease like some places!

Used this place for the first time tonight and I'm very dissapointed. Food was delivered by motorbike - it had been crushed and would easily have fitted through the letter box. The large chips were the smallest 'large' portion I'd ever seen. The chilli bites had disintegrated during the journey. The battered sausages were saturated with a quite rancidly tasting fat. On a positive the curry sauce was nice. I won't use them again... In summary, small portions of poor quality food.

Nice food but ........2nd time of using. 1st time staff unfriendly but food good. Youngest son gave a 2 star review as staff unfriendly when collected. Went in this time, and youngest son (aged 17) was threatened with legal action by owner unless took review down. Negative reviews should be seen as opportunity to improve rather than opportunity to threaten minors.

Delivery was prompt. Delivery driver so polite. Food was piping hot and delicious. Fish batter crispy and chips were your perfect chip shop chips

Been here lots of times and they never fail ..well done!!

We have previously enjoyed our meal from here, but due to lockdown and a hard day's decorating, we chose to have a meal delivered. We ordered online at 5.38 and and then we phoned to chase at 6.20pm and was told ours we the n3ct one out. Our meal finally arrived at 7pm our meal was cold and I was very disappointed as it is not the cheapest place in rushden.

Had placed an order on just eat. Time for delivery was 30 mins late however once opened up my order I was missing an item. I tried ringing the shop for 20 minutes with no answer. Food is always good however communication on this instance is not.

Iv had deliverys from here before and always Been good but today my ice cream was missing and my tarter sauce, iv tryed calling and sent a email but nothing.

States 'FREE DELIVERY' on Just Eat. This is not the case .... it is £3.50 for delivery. Not a big fan of false advertising. I had a response from Red Fish and Chips who refuted my statement .... then I contacted Just Eat who stated that this is the responsibility of the restaurant. I have screen shots for the entire conversation. I suggest Red Fish and Chip shop and Just Eat have a chat. How many customers have been charged £3.50 for no reason? ... and who is getting this money?

Freshly cooked, delicious food. Excellent chips, just as they should be crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My partner was delighted with his spam fritter too! Highly recommend this place. Great food and great service too.

Usually they are pretty good. Unfortunately this time chips were hard and under cooked. Big let down. Put me off going back.

Definitely one of the best fish and chips around. We always get our fish, chips and pies from Red Cafe as the food is fantastic and we have also used their delivery service which was very fast and the food was hot and fresh. Can’t recommend this place enough and also lovely staff.

Disgusting warmed up chip and a bad steak pie took the top off it and it was just dried up..never again

Food was disgusting! Half of the chips are barely cooked and the other half are reheated chips that are a horrible brown colour and full of black bits! Wouldn’t order from here again! You can see in the picture how awful it looks and it tasted worse. Disappointing!

Chicken and chips from here were delicious, generously proportioned meaning 1 regular chips easily served 2 Sn added bonus was a sausage for my collie dog which was most gratefully received. I'll most definitely be going back.

Simply Awesome! First time here & we were greeted with a huge onion ring each after me & the other half debated if they were squid or onion rings. We both had fish, me Cod, my partner Haddock - both with chips. Not the cheapest chippy around but deffo the best we've had. 5 Stars & we will be returning many times!

Ordered large kebab, when it turned up it was luke warm and with no salad. Meat tastes like a frozen type that can be warmed in a microwave and available at B&Ms. Very poor quality and with the competition in Rushden who sell kebabs, bottom of the pile.

I originally submitted an average review commenting on the length of time we have waited more recently when we’ve ordered and whilst I still maintain that the delivery wait can be quite long, Food has always been great and it’s why we’ve continued to order. Very surprised that shortly after submitting my review- regarding the wait time, we had a face to face apology. It was much appreciated and definitely unexpected. Very impressed with the level of customer service and has restored my faith in ordering in the future. Thanks red cafe.

Been here many times before, always been impressed, fish tonight, really not good, not sure why.

I’ve just eaten my order of kebab meat and chips, firstly there was not much meat for the price. Secondly the meat was very thickly cut and very very bland tasting. The previous food I’ve had from here has always been very good and based on this I thought I would try their kebab meat. In my opinion they should stick to what they do best and that’s traditional chip shop fare. There are lots of kebab outlets in Rushden and their meat has a lot more flavour, and a lot more for the money. Will still order their delicious fish and chips but certainly not their kebab meat.

Pretty good, chips can sometimes be dodgy but to be fair many chip shops are inconsistent depending on customer demand, Definitely worth a try here. The fish is good and onion rings are a must.

Had a lovely lunch from here last week ! Would love to install a guest wifi, yes most fish and chip shops are giving guest wifi and putting themselves on the Facebook wifi maps winning new customers. Also would love to see samsung digital signage there and don't forget all comes with free support for your epos terminal we sell for £395 the machine you have. Come on board and get free support like everyone else in the area it's not fair everyone else should and you might not. Will certainly be back in for lunch again soon!

It's usually really good food in there but the last twice we've been in either the chips all had black bits on them with made most inedible or the fish was so greasy that it thought it was still in the sea swimming! Seriously there was a huge pool of grease in the tray.

Went here, based on the reviews given, rather than use our regular fish & chip shop. Soggy chips and over cooked fish swimming in grease. Maybe we just went on a bad night? Certainly cannot see why it has been given such high ratings?

The food I've always brought from here has been fantastic. The chips are great, cooked just right and are not greasy and they are so tasty. Sausages, battered or normal are great. Onion rings delicious with crispy batter and not greasy. Mushy peas stay hot for ages, and the cod is fantastic. Best thing is, it's only three minutes from door to door. Oh, and the service is good too.

Good for chips but haddock needs work, the test for any chippy. Everything else very good.

This was our fish and chip shop choice, however on our visit on Friday 13th April at 6pm we were very disappointed, usually the fish portions are large, this time they were have the size, 90% of the chips had black on them, we ordered two curry sauce, on getting home one pot was only half full, the owner wasn't about and there seemed to be someone new serving, my last review on this chippy was 5 star, very below average and let down, hopefully not a reflection of standards to come.

Used to be my local chip shop, but the last time I went in the Manager spoke to a young lad who worked there like he had wiped him off the bottom of his shoe, shouting at him to hurry up , you need to be quicker. The lad looked very upset. It was embarrassing to stand there and listen to the way he spoke to him and quite upsetting. They constantly have new staff, no surprise if they get treated like that. I paid by card and was told that I couldn't hold the terminal as it was against their policy???? But it was ok for the rest of the customers to clearly see my pin. I would rather travel a bit further down the road, the food is much nicer there.

We used to go here quit alot as the fish and chips were to die for , but as late the chips have come down in size as the fish as to and now as know flavor either, the staff used to be very nice but my last vist I witnessed a argument going on in the kitchen witch then came out on to the shop floor in front of customers very unprofessional,it also seems that there is a lot of new starters that get spoke to very badly and embarrassed in front of customers by the long term female staff , I felt quite sorry for one girl as she kept getting told she wasn't quick enough then was compared to another member of staff that had been there a number of years again infront of customers this made me quite angry when I collected my food I said to the young girl not to worry we all have to learn but she looked so sad, in my eyes that's bullying , they have lost a long term customer as I'm not going back know longer.

Visited for the first time tonight - very impressed! Staff very polite and efficient- food hot and fresh- good portion sizes and the chips were just delicious! Soft and crispy at the same time - perfect!!!! We will be back!

Very polite and professional service. The size of the fish and the number of chips is more than adequate for two people rather than one. However the fish is coated in plenty of batter but very tasty.

Fantastic fish and chips incorporating pies, sausages, nuggets, curry sauce etc. Always very polite, courteous and smart members of staff. Highly recommended as is red cafe in higham ferrers.

We have not visited The Red Cafe for a couple of months and called by very recently.We ordered Cod,sausagesx3,onion rings and chicken pieces as well as chips.The portion sizes have not changed and value for money has been outstanding on past visits however all food on this occasion was caked in grease...the onion rings were inedible,soaked in grease as were the sausages which our dogs consumed.There is an excellent Fish and chip shop quite near this one and it is receiving glowing reviews so with regret we will take our business elsewhere.They informed us whilst we were in the shop that they have started home deliveries.I will put this down to an off night?? Not good. Visited 11th Sept 2017.

Been there a couple of times, great portions friendly staff they also own the Red cafe now that is excellent would go again if it was closer

I have been to this place a coulple of I times and found it to be ok, they have a reasonable menu and the wait is quite minimal. The fish and chips are average,but it's the only one around that's reasonable.
