Friendly wait staff with tasty food at a reasonable price. We went twice while we were staying in Edinburgh.

Absolutely delicious, quick service and a nice calm atmosphere. Lovely, attentive staff. Second time coming here and service is second to none. Would definitely recommend. (Took no photos as I was too hungry, but it looked amazing!)

Food was ok- nothing special at all. Service was absolutely abysmal though.

Unfortunately the food did not meet my expectations. The meat was very tough. The atmosphere of the place was nice, but it did not compensate for the poor food. The restaurant was saved from a lower rating by the very nice service.

Whenever I go abroad, I prefer Greek and Italian cuisine, which is the closest cuisine to us. I craved baklava, but what I came across as baklava was sugar paste. This is not a good imitation, you have to go to Istanbul for real baklava. Scoring is done only for Baklava.

Absolutely incredible service, Ben our waiter was so welcoming and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend and I will be coming back.

We ate it because we were hungry, or there was no flavor at all. We ordered shish tawook. The chicken was literally flavorless. Shrimp on a saj with tomato sauce was the only flavor. Potatoes sprinkled with oregano were mediocre. Halloumi fingers drizzled with honey were delicious. We added chicken to a salad, which I don't recommend. It had no salt, no dressing, and no flavor. The cucumbers and tomatoes were cut into very large sizes. If you eat a cucumber, you won't be able to eat any other vegetables with them because of their size. The table was dirty and sticky. We asked for the fork and knife to be replaced, but they were dirty. The plate sizes were small/small portions. The restrooms were clean, but there were no napkins. The service was okay, and the price was reasonable.

The Chicken in the Greek bread wrap was very dried out. The fries were quite oily for putting in a wrap. The overall taste was fine. The plate was very hot which was nice. The service was good. It was not busy on a Tuesday.

This is non trivial to review... Many dishes were really good quality, tasting and presentation, e.g. Calamari, octopus, humus, hallumi fries. Others were really poor quality and taste, spefically the wraps/souvlakis, the chicken and the sausage, which BTW very small. The sausage was a wurstel full of mustard and wrap - simply terrible. Have to say, the dessert (orange cake) was amazing. The beer was also amazing. All the dishes despite the dessert are way overpriced for the quantity. 8.9gbp for 9 fried calamari. 7gbp for 7 hallumi fries. One octopus arm, grilled, on fava, 10gbp... For such price I have higher expectations. The waiters were either lost or very rude. The atmosphere is what it is being a restaurant in a mall.

Food is very meh. Everything we ordered just missed the mark. The rice in the stuffed vine leaves was undercooked. The chips didn’t even have salt on them and were very dry. The spanakopita was in tiny triangles, not like one I’ve ever seen before, and were so greasy. The sauce with the grilled aubergine tasted of plain tinned tomatoes. The Greek salad was 90% tomatoes. Nothing had much flavour at all. Portions are very small for the prices (£9+ for 5 prawns in tomato sauce). Not to mention we were brought a £4 bottle of water when we asked for tap water for the table and we had to ask for an automatic 10% gratuity to be removed from the bill. Don’t bother with here, much better food elsewhere in the St James Quarter.

Food took ages to arrive and was average at best. Flat bread too doughy, chicken souvlaki very bland. Prices extortionate- £5.50 for a tub of tzatziki, £9.25 for a tiny tub of prawn saganaki, £1.25 for a teaspoon of lemon mayo.

Had the greatest birthday dinner ever. Emily made the experience so wonderful and made me feel like a queen. Will absolutely be coming back!

Empty for a reason. Falafel was dry and hard. Staff looked very stressed and we even watched the manager argue with the chef for twenty minutes. Felt sorry for the young female waitress left running around sorting all the customers on her own.

Big chain experience in St James Quarter. Short menu means fast turnover of tables, food is decent although no wow factor for me. The modern industrial fit out is like no Real Greek restaurant I have been. It’s ok for a pit stop on the way or after an outing or event.

We ordered the 22pp meal where you can choose from a selection. It started off really strong with the dips and the flatbread which were delicious! However the mains came out and our meatballs were cold! The waitress didn’t come over to ask us if the food was okay so I couldn’t really complain and ask for a fresh one! The chicken dish we got was nice and it was not bad! I would say it is not good Value for money- probably would not go again!

Great place for lunch food with the exception of a really terrible Greek salad was great

Food came on time which was good, however, everything in the delivery was cold and had to be warmed up. The chicken was insanely dry, there was only a tiny bit of rice although that was hard and the tzatziki was missing. Really disappointed.

The food is not only expensive for the amount you get, but the taste isn't great as well!! The waiters are friendly but the service is rather slow.

The food was spectacular. Furthermore, Vanessa, our waitress, quickly realized that we were Spanish, and spoke to us in our language, giving us some spectacular recommendations.

Fast service, very friendly staff and very good dishes.

We visited on a Friday lunchtime, was not busy. I had booked table and we got a small two seater in the middle of the restaurant, not ideal but not a showstopper. Staff very friendly ams engaging. We ordered off the Filoxenia all day menus, lots of options but felt for the price the portions were small or could have done with one more dish. Felt prices were good, had a beer Which was fresh and tasty and a gin which was well made. Would go back, and would recommend as somewhere to go for food but would add an extra side if you don't want to go hungry.

Visited the other day for dinner with friends and we absolutely loved it! Food was delicious and our server - Emily, was extremely attentive and chatty! She was super professional and friendly. We will definitely go back to be served by her again!

Great find in St James' Quarter. Quick service and tasty food. We were there for dinner so couldn't take advantage of their lunch menu deal but their meat and veg platters were recommended to us and they didn't disappoint. Also make sure you leave room for the deep fried custard pie. Great way to finish our meal. Thank you Ben for your hospitality

Not tasty, small portions, expensive. The gyro meat was dry and the pita gyro wrap was teeny tiny. I ordered a Greek salad side dish that contained literally 1 olive and 1 slice of onion. There are far better alternatives in Edinburgh. The service charge is a joke!

Wow! Simply wow! This was, without doubt, the most incredible meal I have ever eaten in my entire life. Yum! Scrumdiddliumptious! Tummy filling and nutritious. Not to mention the incredible price - I CAN'T recommend ENOUGH!!!!

A really great experience into Greek Meze, food was brilliant and the staff were helpful and explained every dish to us.

Ordered the Greek moussaka which was lovely very filling but the meat lack a little bit of seasoning. The service was a little on the poor side we asked for a large water tap jar and was given a small jar staff are stand-offish you have to prompt them for service.

I would have given 5 stars as looking forward to the rice with the chicken skewers that i i did order for both meals but got chips instead ..

Being a person who grew up in Greece and missed the Greek food this restaurant didn’t satisfied my cravings. Average food that is similar to Greek but far from it !

The good: Excellent service. The bad: The food is awful and way overpriced. You will get fleeced. I’m not expecting gourmet Greek, it is a chain after all, but the food is horrendous. The chicken is dry as a bone, the flatbread portion is so small it barely can be used for half of a dip, and the Greek salad is basically a bowl of chopped up tomato with a piece of feta on top. Honestly, save your money and go somewhere else. I feel bad for the staff who have to serve this “food”. Someone’s Greek grandmother is probably rolling over in their grave right now.

The good didn’t remind anything from Greece. The fries were fried with very old oil . The meat wasn’t good , high prices for average food

I was very excited to finally have a souvlaki pita as the last one was in 2021 when I was in Crete. I was attracted by the 4.3 stars, so the missus and I decided to give it a go. Oh the extreme disappointment when we received a pita the size of a mini tortilla wrap, filled with 8 (!!) chips, 6 pieces of very sad looking pork, 2 tomatoes and almost no tzaziki. I'm glad we didn't spend any more money to try other dishes, as I'd like to keep my memories of Greek food intact. Don't bother going.

My friend and I used a Groupon deal. She'd been to The Real Greek plenty of times before, but this was my first time. The set menu deal was really good with lots of choice, and it was great that we got to pick a couple of cold mezze, two hot mezze, two sides and two mains, plus there was flat bread and vegetable crudites, then a couple of desserts afterwards. The portion sizes were decent and we had plenty of food for £15 each. The waitress was friendly and remembered my friend. I'm looking forward to coming back and exploring the full menu sometime soon.

Food was great. Service let it down, people served before we did even though we got there quite a bit before them. I wouldn’t rush back.

Used a Groupon Voucher for 10 sharing plates. It was great value and we left full. The flatbread was delicious . We both had a couple of drinks too and including a 10% tip , it was less than £55. It's good value for money overall. The service from start to finish was great.
