Lovely staff full of smiles, and tasty food!

We popped in while visiting the St James Quarter with my daughter for a quick lunch, and we really enjoyed it. Being Greek I knew what to expect and I wasn't disappointed. Good food and friendly service, is an excellent place for lunch or dinner. Highly recommended. P.S. To my opinion, Greek instrumental music of great Greek composers, famous worldwide, would add to the ambiance feeling 100% the Greek experience.

Non authentic Greek, there are better places in Edinburgh for this. I suppose one knows what to expect just by going into this place. Atmosphere is good and service is friendly but the Food isn’t great at all.

Staff were very nice and friendly. They suggested we have three of the small plates each. I chose cod goujons in batter, juicy prawns in a sauce, and calamari in batter, along with a portion of fries. The prawns were good, but in all honesty, the other dishes were a bit greasy, with too much crispy batter. If I am back again, I would try some other dishes. It was all nicely presented, as you can see from the pictures.

Good food & excellent service from Emily

I recently visited this restaurant for the first time with my partner during a mid week night out. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, my partner and I were left in dismay by the pitiful (to say the least) portions we received of the three dishes we ordered. Considering that we were charged around £10 per dish, I feel like we were completely ripped off. If I could give our dining experience less than 1 star I would, totally overpriced tiny dishes. I should clarify that this is not a reflection of the service we received as the staff were truly nice and friendly. I suggest that the management should either review their prices or consider offering more generous food portions.

Going to The Real Greek is always a treat. It is my favorite place to eat in the St James Quarter. The food is delicious, the staff are friendly, and the place has a lovely atmosphere. I am always happy to get the chicken souvlaki.

We came in today for lunch and ordered the moussaka- which was beautiful and great value for money! Our server- the lovely Emily, and her colleagues are all delightful and very attentive. Emily advised us on the wine and food - and was great craic which is always welcome. We will be back! Definitely recommend ‘The Real Greek’ as a place to eat.

So sorry to leave a bad review :(. The chicken skewers were dry and tasteless. The rice was also dry and bland. The wrap was honestly just strange, I have never had anything like it. I would not recommend this place! T

Sorry - for the first time ever we left without our food. Quick to take the order and give us drinks but then 35 minute + wait. No-one would catch our eye when we just wanted to be given a timescale after 25 minutes. It's a food outlet in St James Centre. I think most people if they stop for lunch would expect to be out in 1-1/2 hours for 1 course. All they needed to do was say as we ordered - We're busy so you will be waiting for half an hour or so. Then it was up to us to decide to stay or go. As we left we were asked if we'd had a nice time. When we politely said actually we had left without eating the waitress said "I'm sorry". She seemed unsurprised and unruffled so perhaps we are not the first people to leave after a long wait.

Wholesome people , as a greek myself , I felt at home when visiting this summer with my dad.The food was almost as good as my grandmas !

The food was cold and undercooked. The Greek salad we were served was old and smelled awful so had to be returned. Service was really good and the setting is pleasant.

Went in with a friend for lunch after work, staff were very friendly. After looking at the menu with a good selection of Greek cuisine I opted for the halloumi wrap and octopus which was perfectly cooked. We hoped too return for lunch some time soon, five stars ⭐️

Fantastic! Great ambience (especially like the funky, retro-sounding Greek music), lovely airy space, and very good, responsive and welcoming service. We came from Greece and we found accidently while we shopping, we order Greek Mousaka it was almost identical my grandmamas, also Greek Souvlaki in pita, delicious, if you are A Greek and be here it feels Like home

We came to Edinburgh for a couple of days from London and were surprised how much better this restaurant is compared to London. All food was very tasty, portions were bigger. We had really good time.

1st time here. The food was amazing, well presented & so freshing.. A pudding was 25mins late so we didn't paid for it, after we made comment about it. Drinks, wine & cocktails were brilliant. Would i recommend this place yes i would so worth a look. Price wise so worth it.

Used a Groupon. No issue booking. Seated in a booth as requested. Excellent food and service. Good portions and boxed up dessert for us to take away. Can't wait to return.

Food was around an hour late and cold by the time it got here. We paid over £40 for this order and in reality it was worth about £15-20. Aside from the coldness, food quality was disappointing in general too. Souvlakis were also quite small.

Food was mediocre. Nothing tasted fresh, and everything needed seasoned. The best thing was the pita. The Portokalopita was particularly bad, very dry with no orange flavour. The gigandes were tasteless. There are many much better places to get Greek food in Edinburgh. I won't be back.

Staying in the St James Quarter and looking for a slightly lighter evening meal option, and with fond culinary memories of Crete earlier in the year we decided to give the Real Greek a go. Overall very enjoyable, with friendly and relaxed service, and a food range of Meze options. The standout was desert however - perhaps something to indulge in sparingly given its calorie count. The Greek filo custard pie was a real indulgence that anyone with a vaguely sweet-tooth should try.

rubbish food - nothing like a real gyros or salad. asked for half of our meal to be taken off bill and normally wouldn’t complain if it was decent. staff are sweet

The food is really outstanding!: Every meal was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Hands down, some of the most delicious food I've eaten lately! We were served by Sameer , who was not only attentive but truly lovely throughout our meal. His warmth and genuine care made us feel welcomed and taken care of from start to finish. The food was lovely and starters came out very quick, then when we ordered the mains there was a mix up with tickets and they were missed so this caused a delay. However they did arrive quickly once this was highlighted. They did remove the service charge from the bill to compensate for this mistake. The restaurant was quite busy and the poor staff did have to deal with a family that were letting their children run about playing. I did feel for them. Overall though food was lovely and it was a nice venue to catch up with friends. Would definitely go back.

Food - average, not authentic greek , meat is dry and tasteless. Service - restaurant wasn't busy, been waiting ages to get served and to get a bill, waitresses were just chatting and ignoring us. Won't be going back. If you crave REAL Greek food go to Nixos or Livingston Ariston kitchen

Very average food. The staff were chatting the entire time, ignoring the customers. After waiting 20mins for the bill, I went to pay at the till myself. When I asked to remove the tip for the service the waitress were surprised and gave me an attitude. I won't be eating there again. The service is rubbish.

Tried for the first time having viewed the menu online. Arrived to be presented with a la carte & Xmas menus. On asking for the lunch menu we were told that the lunch menu wasn’t offered in Edinburgh. Pretty poor. Opted for a souvlaki which was pretty tasteless & side of chips was so cold we had to have them replaced. Wine was a very dark Italian rose, not the best. Service was lacking in any enthusiasm, typical of a chain restaurant. Won’t be back.

We arrived for lunch on a cold Tuesday afternoon ,pretty quiet when we arrived but was busy when we left. Great friendly service not a huge menu but what we had was lovely. Well cooked food great portions ,fair prices We will definitely be back.

Disappointed didn’t meet my expectations . As someone who enjoys Greek food there was nothing authentic about the restaurant.7 Service was really impersonal to the point we weren’t even asked if we enjoyed our meal. I will say service was quick and this was a bonus as I didn’t care to spend much time there. No offence to the staff at all just not what I had hoped to have experienced. Feels very much like another inauthentic commercial restaurant.

We came across this place by chance on TheFork app. We met Vanessa, a waitress of Italian origins like us who was super kind and recommended some delicious dishes. We recommend this place for the quality of the dishes and the kindness of the staff!
