The Real Greek - Dulwich in Southwark

I came to The Real Greek for a pre-wedding dinner, and came with a group of 15 people. The server was very kind and respectful, and the food came fairly quickly and was fresh and full of favour. As a newcomer to Greek food, I was genuinely impressed. I forgot the name of the waiter but he was on the evening shift on the 30th April, and he was excellent.

Great dinner deal and really fabulous service from a team member let us switch table midway through our meal to one undercover. Really reasonable prices.

The atmosphere is relaxed, with friendly staff and a layout that works for both groups and couples. Service can slow down during busy times, but overall, it's a decent place for a casual meal.​

Our evening at The Real Greek has been lovely and relaxing for my family and I. From the time we walked into the restaurant to the time we had to leave, we were greeted by Daisy, Alex and Samuel our waiters and the hospitable manager, Fritz. Fritz got my daughter a slice of birthday cake and the team sang her Happy Birthday, how personable and lovely to do. Thank you for the delicious food and amazing service.

Stopped in for an impromptu dinner with the family on a Friday evening. Staff were lovely, food was fresh and great value. Did exactly what we wanted of it, will definitely be back.

We visit the real greek dulwich fortnightly. This time we've been there for the mother day's lunch. It was good food and great service by Alex and the manager Ferit feed us with a great dessert on the house. Also my daughter has tree nuts and peanut allergies and the kitchen do their best to avoid any reactions. Thanks

We went The Real Greek, Dulwich Village, on 19/03. We’ve been many times, and have never been disappointed. The food is always great, and the staff always give us a warm welcome. We’ll be back, thanks for looking after us. Unfortunately we only took a photo of our desert, we’ll do better next time.

Love this Real Greek restaurant. The waiting staff, cocktail makers and manager are all just lovely. Even when my voucher did not work the Manager honoured it saying that happy customers are what matters. The food is always delicious and the portions are fab. Lovely, bright decor make for a charming and relaxing atmosphere. It's definitely one of my favourite places. Just pop in, reservations aren't always required. You won't be disappointed 😍

For starters, let me make it clear that we did not have a sit-in meal at The Real Greek. I had ordered food to be delivered through Just Eat - I had organised a special film night for myself and my two children. FYI, they thoroughly enjoyed Shrek. As you can see from the photos, I had ordered that the food be delivered by 1830. I placed the order by 0900. When it had not arrived by 1900, and the app was showing that the food was still being prepared, I called the restaurant. The restaurant claimed that the food was ready for delivery by 1844. I don't know who is responsible for updating the app, but clearly that was not the information that I had. The person I spoke to asked what they could do about it. I suggested that they might apologise at least. They didn't. Once the order arrived, i was disappointed to find that they had not removed the mint yoghurt from my daughter's halloumi souvlaki despite the request. My daughter did not enjoy this food one bit. She stated that the chips and bread were soggy. As you can see, she left a lot of this dish. She also felt sick afterwards. My son felt much the same about his souvlaki. As for me, I had ordered the fried calamari and halloumi fries. Apart from being cold, the calamari was like rubber and the batter was soft and oily. The halloumi fries had been soaked in too much honey. They were too sweet. The Real Greek (Dulwich) ruined what I had planned as a special evening. I hate leaving negative reviews, but the lack of any concern from whoever answered the phone, and the poor quality of the food, leaves me with little choice but to declare I would not recommend The Real Greek (Dulwich). Hi, I go back regularly. Food always amazing, and so well prepared. The staff are polite, especially Alex and Samuel. They look after my table very well like always. Appalling service and cold overcooked food. The felafal wrap was dry and dull and the halloumi chips were oily and soggy.. The pork kebab was dry and hard. The waiter was indifferent and yet the restaurant was not busy.

The waiter forgot our order so we were kept waiting for about 45 minutes. when I reminded the waiter he immediately brought the food that had obviously been sitting getting cold. It was codl. The pork kebab was overcooked , dry and tough. The felafal wrap was dry and very plain. The haloumi chips were cold, soggy and swimming in oil. I all a very disappointing meal. I shall certainly never go to The Real Greek again.

The food was simply astonishing, and the service was outstanding! We got some really lovely Greek sweets since it was Valentines Day, but there was one problem-I was too full to have more of the great food! Must visit!

Nice service, a large selection of vegetarian dishes, and a bottle of delicious Greek olive oil on the table (you can also buy it here for £6- I think it's really good price for this quality). A very well run restaurant! Staff are very considerate - I have quite a few allergies that were accommodated with care. Even when I wanted a menu item that may have had traces, the manager, Ferid ensured they would prepare the dish to accommodate my allergies. 5 stars, wonderful spot!!

We had a warm welcome from reception and seat promptly. The weather was very bad and the restaurant was all empty and all for us. We ordered some small plates and Christmas special meat wrap. The dolmas were very simple, salty grape leaves stuffed with rice and tomato flavour. Could have added few pine nuts for texture. Prawn Saganaki was very well done . Prawns cooked to perfection. Octopus was bit fishy and hummus was dry. And the meatball wrap was with french fries tucked inside the rap which was not so great. Overall a chain restaurant with average food in an affluent Dulwich village.

Idiotas. Es domingo para almorzar y los lugareños están abarrotando y haciendo cola para comer en el pueblo. Algunos incluso enfrentan el frío amargo para sentarse afuera en las únicas mesas disponibles si no tiene una reserva. Pero justo al otro lado de la calle, en vista de estos amontonados - en los comensales es un restaurante sin las hordas que sirven los platos más deliciosos de inspiración griega entregados a la mesa por el personal de camareros atentos y la atención constante a nuestras necesidades. Civilizado y acogedor y muy asequible. Así que mientras los lugareños pagaron de más y se irritaron por la espera al otro lado de la carretera nos atendieron en esplendor y con amor. Idiotas locales.

La hospitalidad es increíble aquí y se le dará una cálida bienvenida. La temperatura aquí era la correcta. Para empezar, opté por el pan plano griego cálido con hummus. El pan plano era perfecto, con su textura suave encantadora y sabor de orégano sutil increíble. El hummus tampoco podría haber sido mejor. Teniendo en cuenta estas cosas, el arranque era perfecto. Para mi principal, tenía la envoltura de souvlaki de albóndigas de cordero. Sentí que esto era bastante simple. Las albóndigas tenían una textura perfecta pero les faltaba algo de sabor. Definitivamente siento que deberían haber tenido más riqueza. Además, creo que las patatas fritas deberían haber tenido sal, pero esa es mi opinión. Los tomates y cebollas estaban deliciosos. Para terminar, tuve la tarta de queso de bayas mixtas de postre. El queso tenía un delicioso sabor a vainilla y el coulis de bayas mixtas no podría haber sabido mejor. Sin embargo, no había suficiente coulis para toda la rebanada de tarta de queso, así que pedí más, y felizmente me dieron más. Con el coulis adicional, mi postre era perfecto.

Thank you Real Greek for a fantastic evening! We were a large group celebrating two birthday's and all the staff were very welcoming and kind. The food was amazing, especially the spanakopita, chicken monastiraki and halloumi fries which were delicious! The manager generously offered us a free ice cream for the birthday boy and a metaxa for all the adults on the house to celebrate the birthdays. I highly recommend the Real Greek in Dulwich if you want a lovely night out!

Un buen restaurante en el pueblo de Dulwich, pero la comida era muy promedio. No estoy seguro de volver. La comida no parecía fresca y las envolturas eran masticables.

Este es un gran restaurante. La comida era buena, también era moderadamente barato. El servicio sin embargo fue excelente, esto se debió tanto a Sami y Alex que fueron atentos y amables. Estos dos hicieron nuestra comida excepcional. La única manera de mejorar nuestra noche era el clima para ser cálido verano soleado por la noche y no una fría noche húmeda de otoño

The staff were very pleasant and attentive and it was a very relaxed place to eat. The food however was very average, the mains came too early while we were still eating the starters and not therefore as hot as I would have liked.

Entramos sin reserva y nos cuidaron de inmediato. El menú era interesante y variado, y nuestras preguntas sobre algunos de los elementos en él fueron respondidas para que pudiéramos ordenar con conocimiento de causa. El feta picante y el pan plano eran excelentes. También disfrutamos de la moussaka, albóndigas de cordero y paquetes de espinacas. Probamos los bocados de bacalao salado, pero eran un poco masticables. El gerente era muy amable y servicial, y sin duda volveríamos para otro almuerzo.

Preciosa comida griega fresca y saludable. Tuvimos el picante feta dip y houmous con pan de pita caliente y crudités. El pincho de pollo estaba húmedo y sabroso. Las patatas fritas estaban perfectamente cocidas. El arroz también estaba bueno. El calamar estaba delicioso y crujiente. Los desiertos también eran divinos. El personal de espera era amable y profesional. Sin duda volvería. Una muy buena experiencia gastronómica. El restaurante es elegante también.

Pros : - Lovely Staff - Excellent food presentation - ok atmosphere I guess - fast service - beautiful restaurant Cons : - mediocre food ( Bland and tasteless not worth the money ) - Tap water !! - no table cloth / not even wiped table - no greek music - NO GYROS !!! Overall if you never tried greek food in your life then this restaurant is a “meh” I guess but otherwise a poor attempt or mediocre recreation of the food at best. First time visit probably last ever visit. It’s a attempt to keep things “ modern and cool ” you can have the best looking restaurant and best staff but if the food is bad and the customer doesn’t feel like they are in a taverna then what’s the point ? Honestly is “meh” for tourists or people who are not well acquainted with vibrant greek culture or delicious food.
