The Real Greek - Dulwich in Southwark

Tonight, I was pleasantly surprised about this fairly local restaurant! The staff were welcoming and friendly with lovely manners. Food was a true joy! Ordered the grilled octopus which brought me right back to my favourite seaside place….enjoyed every morsel. The dessert was exceptional - I had the Greek filo pastry with custard and vanilla ice cream …. Amazing! Thank you so much for the wonderful experience.

We had a nice meal with friends and it was delicious food as usual. We had well come smile as always. Thank you for your hospitality and privilege.

Really bad service !!! Girl looked like she didn’t want to be there terrible service !!! Didn’t ask how our meal was didn’t come with sauces and didn’t check k at anytime if all was ok. Shame food was lovely ! Won’t be back !

Great location and good service however unfortunately the food is a real let down. Nothing to do with the chefs or staff. I imagine all food comes in centrally and it’s just tasteless and bland. I think no perhaps a lot of ingredients are frozen so it’s just all heated up, but there is no taste to anything? Lacking any fresh ingredients unfortunately….. such a shame.

We visited for a family celebration dinner. The food was indeed “real Greek” (we have many Greek relations), with a wide choice of well cooked dishes. The service, especially from Alex, was very attentive and helpful.

We wanted a pleasant lunch time dining experience and we got it. For what worked out at approx £25 a head we had a large main course (the Greek plate), desert (two large scoops of ice cream) a bottle of sparkling mineral water, a drink each, (I chose wine and my partner chose fruit juice) followed by a mellow coffee. The main course - flat bread, tsiki, good Greek salad, savoury rice and a protein of your choice - was delicious. My halumi was crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. Just perfect. My partner’s chicken on a skewer was tender and tangy. The service was pleasant, the decor clean, light and easy on the eye - all in all a far better eating experience than we had anticipated and value for money when compared to surrounding cafes and restaurants. Would highly recommend lunch here.

Excellent service and food. We particularly enjoyed the chicken skewers, halloumi fries and baklava. One of our regular spots for lunch in the area.

Came here for my son's 16th birthday. The restaurant is beautiful, the setting, atmosphere, feels very inviting, clean, and very coastal. The food was delicious and loads of it, the staff were superb, very helpful and accommodating. The complimentary birthday cake was excellent and a very good idea that they offer that too, it completes the package! Staff were so friendly, they couldn't do enough for you!! There was so much food, we couldn't even finish and missed out on dessert! We have been told about their delicious " lemon cake and orange cake" by a family member and a friend, and we will definitely be back to try the cakes! Definitely recommend, and will definitely be back. Great place to go for special occasions and birthdays, the place is beautiful.

Just had a takeaway from this place and the lamb was inedible. It was too tough to eat. It smelled off.

The best pork wrap you’ll ever get!

Had lunch for party of 12 today and we all thought the food and service was excellent. The lunch plates are particularly good value for money, very generous portions and very tasty food. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Dealing with a large party is never easy but they did everyone's order perfectly. Thank you for making our lunch so enjoyable!

Five Star service. Really great selection on the menu (something for everyone) and it was delicious!! Even bought some of the Greek Oil x3 which is sooo good….will be back for sure. Thanks very much.

Excellent light lunch from the £9.95 menu. We had a very well prepared, tasty combination of chicken skewers, salad, rice and flatbreads. The service was just right; friendly and attentive without intrusion. Pleasant ambience and great value. We would be very happy to return when next in Dulwich.

Ordered on uber eats. Fries less than half a bag for £4 - rip off!! Horrible tasting, dry falafel. Nice halloumi bites. Overall dissatisfied and won't eat at or from any of thes branches again.

We loved our visit to The Real Greek in Dulwich. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The manager couldn’t do enough for us. The food was to die for, lots of choice and really tasty. Will definitely recommend to everyone!

My go to spot for a lovely mid-week lunch. Great food, lovely staff and very reasonable prices.

Very average food. One dish was really burnt too. Mostly flavorless except for the lamb meatballs. It’s okay if nowhere else is open but wouldn’t recommend.

Terrible bland gyros. Half filled with mainly chips lack of sauce halloumi and veg, so dry and bland. Halloumi bites were quite nice however then found a hair in them half way through. No offer of a refund a replacement of terrible wrap.

The manager at this restaurant is both inappropriate and rude. I and a very small group of others were volunteering at the local park to get the plants ready for the winter and decided to quick grab some lunch before heading back. We arrived and he inappropriately asked for a female of the groups mobile number proclaiming that was how he picked up females and them continued to asked for all of our ages. We quickly ordered for take away. We asked if it was ok to sit down at a table as the restaurant was empty. He agreed. When the food came a colleague suggested we just stayed sat down. When the food came, a colleague suggested we might just stay sat and quickly finish the wrap we ordered. Many staff walked passed and saw us at the table eating and also asked if we needed anything else. When the manager walked back in to the restaurant he rudely growled at us to say we need to leave it’s not nice that we are sat here and eating. We apologised and said we did not realise we could not change our minds about staying in, that we will leave immediately. He again growled rudely and said no, that we knew what we were doing and we knew that the takeaway food prices were less than dining in pricing and so taking advantage. We again apologised and stated that was not the case. He then rudely said ‘no stay, you know for next time’ which we declined the offer to remain in now a hostile environment. I won’t ever be going back to be spoken to like that ever again when we made a genuine misjudgement of the decision we were making.

Celebrating my belated birthday with dear friends. The waitress, Alex, was very friendly & helpful, particularly with our many different requests. Noticing it was a celebration we were given complimentary coffees. We especially enjoyed the Mediterranean rice.

Visited The Real Greek with friends. The food was outstanding and the atmosphere was excellent. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Highly recommended and we will definitely be going back soon.

This restaurant is highly recommended - we went for a late lunch with friends, and were impressed by the quality of the food we ordered, and also the friendly staff and their attention. We enjoyed a selection of hot and cold mezes, and then main courses, including lamb meatballs, BBQ chicken wings, chicken monastir, followed by a selection of desserts. Altogether an enjoyable experience.

Disappointed with the service. Not very welcoming staff. We asked that the main course was not be brought until we had finished the starter and it was brought whilst we were still eating starter. Waitress appeared quite disgruntled/rude when we asked for the food to be taken away until we were ready.

Ferit and his team were amazing. The food was fantastic, the setting was lovely, the staff really could not have been more helpful and it was all incredibly reasonably priced. A real find. One of our group is Coeliac and needs to eat gluten free. The manager was really helpful and knowledgable in making sure that she got a safe meal. All the staff were good and the food was very nice. The lunch deal was very good value.

Half way through main meal Verona came with bill and card reader and stood there. Time on bill 9.04pm. I asked “please may I finish my food first?” She said “yes” and continued to stand by the table with the card reader. I put cutlery down to pay the bill during the meal. She seemed completely unaware this is poor service to interrupt people eating. Four other customers were still sitting and chatting at another table, and 3 people right near us had just ordered beers and dips. I put feedback on their website the next morning on 31 July and have had no response in 3 weeks. Charged £36 for half an hour, made to feel like we were imposing and unwelcome for frankly mediocre and luke warm food. Unbelievably bad service and very rude!!! Go to the Italian opposite, Rocca.

I bought a deal from Wowcher and wanted to go to this restaurant. Imagine my surprise when I tried to book that I found out that it was no longer part of this chain, despite the name. It was still listed on the Real Greek as a banch and wowcher was still offering this branch as part of the deal, I was able to get a refund from wowcher without much fuss.

Good selection of choices on the menu, efficiently served. The menu may need a little explanation but the staff were good at this. The Greek flatbread was particularly fresh and delicious

The food was good, location great and the waiting staff really friendly and helpful. The reason only 2 stars for service was the attitude and behaviour of the duty manager. When we arrived he was berating his staff. When I queried what I had ordered he chose to gaslight and patronise me. Not very pleasant behaviour.

I do not recommend going to this restaurant they are slow at serving you they got our order wrong the food was not authentic Greek food it was flavourless and who serves desserts in a glass cup that you drink from they do not give you the option to pay for service charge , the service tonight was very poor. Pretty average and overpriced Greek food. It's a chain in Dulwich village so I guess what can we expect!? Attentive service however, does not really make up for the lacklustre head office portion controlled food. When you think Greek food you think big sharing plates , colourful salads bursting with flavour... Not tiny little bowls plates/plates with watery lentils, unseasoned with a dot of pre cubed beetroot for example. If you want meze and generous salads and portions there are so many better options and 100s of brilliant Turkish restaurants in London.

The menu, and cooking, are still good, and the inclusion of a competitively priced and imaginatively conceived lunch menu is great, but a 40 minute wait for food after ordering does suggest they are under staffing in the kitchen and front of house at lunch. Of course the fact that we'd finished, and reordered, our drinks in that 40 minutes might not have been by chance.

Fabulous food, nice decor and really warm, friendly and funny staff who put you at ease. I thought the grilled octopus was delicious, the vine leaves were beautiful and the custard pie to finish for dessert was heavenly. Would 100% come again.
