visit 05.03.22Totally let down, Chef and management seriously let the front of house staff down, who were busy all night, flustered and embarrassed by the wait and standard of food .We sat for our table booked for 7.15 for 11 covers, we pre ordered all our meals.After a mix up with drinks and flustered staff, we eventually got it sorted.We then received our starters staggered over 20 minutes, an hour after sitting. I had the pate which was quite tasty but you can't really go wrong with pre packed food or so we thought. We had servings of Garlic Prawns, hidden under a hand full of greens, there were 5, 6 at best small prawns no bigger than a 2p piece, lacking in taste .At 8.20 we were asked how we wanted our steaks cooked, all who'd ordered asked for medium rare.At almost 9 I had to ask where our mains where , to be told they were just being plated. Who'd think that pre ordering would actually slow the process down .When the mains did come out, there was only over cooked steaks with no rareness in sight, just full of fat and really over done.The mixed grill had over cooked sausages, tough steak, tough lamb. The eggs were good though.Part way through eating our mains, a friend squealed as she found a snail making it's escape off the plate from the salad, made up for the lack of other protein on the plate I suppose.Salmon dish was dry and tasteless,The burger was burnt and tasteless, needing more sauce than necessary to add flavour and partially hide the charcoaled flavourThey offered to take the snail meal off the bill and the waitress was really embarrassed but no offer to have anything else in it's place.We had conversations with other groups of people while waiting and they were disappointed with their food, they came on the reviews on google . Facebook and word of mouth. no one mentioned the change of ownership ( again) within the last 2 weeks.We paid the bill and left. Making sure the front of house girls knew we were not happy and that we would return to speak with a manager.We also made sure that they knew this was not their fault and that they were let down by management and processes not being in place.If you are going to charge the prices you do, serve the food to reflect that.

Went there with friends to celebrate a birthday and really enjoyed. The steak was fantastic, one of the best I’ve had, and the staff were very friendly. Met the owner and he was hilarious. Definitely go back there again, can’t wait to try their Sunday lunch

Recently visited the Raven Inn with my family for a family get together and recieved the best welcome from all the staff there , Very polite and nothing was to much for them. Went for a meal with friends as a celebration evening. Booked for 7:30 and arrived on time and we’re made to feel very welcome and taken to our table, drinks order was taken swiftly. Food was fantastic,out of this world in fact. It is highly recommended and will defiantly visiting again.

Stayed locally with friends and we came Saturday afternoon for lunch , very very good indeed , lovely polite staff and food was a really good quality , in fact we came back for Sunday lunch and I have to say one of the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommended

We were recommended to eat here by a friend. We don’t live local we live 30 minutes away but omg well worth the visit. We turned up at 12 and were shown to our seat the waitress asked if we would like any drinks we ordered them and they were delivered straight away. We were asked if we wanted starters which we declined as we were just having a carvery. We were asked by the guy serving behind the counter which meat we would like I had pork and beef there were plenty of veggies and the homemade stuffing was to die for. It was probably the best Sunday lunch we have had. We both had cheesecake for dessert and that was amazing as well. It was so nice we have arranged to go back for our daughters birthday at the end of the month. Thanks to all at the Raven you have definitely gained some new regulars. 10/10

Please ignore bad reviews. This place is a must visit. 2nd visit here. 1st was a Sunday roast which was to die for, meat was incredible - trust me I'm actually a butcher.2nd visit was with my young family. This place is family friendly and they catered for all 4 of us. Me and my wife had steak and again was superbGreat little find

Visited with friends for a birthday, booked and ordered in advance. Starters were very minimal particularly with prawns and certainly not worth anywhere near the prices charged.One main meal has a large snail in the accompanying salad, the food was taken away and no alternative food or even a replacement meal offered.Very disappointing and as local will not visit again.No manager present although the staff were very friendly and apologetic.Significant improvement necessary.

My wife and I visited the raven last month. As always we thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere, the service and the food all first class. Never disappointed when we visit. Served with a smile from start to finish. Nothing in the area comes close.

Visited today just 3 friends.table booked for 7.30.waited 20 mins and not even offered a drink.main couse served 1.75 hrs later.obviously been under hot lamp as chips hard and salad wilted.no pasta in lasagne.still at least we didn't have a snail in our salad like adjoining table of 12 who were disgusted with the standard of their meals as well.apparently this place is usually excellent but as new residents to the area we won't be visiting again.

Ate here twice whilst staying on holiday nearby and each time the evening suppers were delicious, good choice and prompt service. Looked like lots of locals also in, always a good sign.

Just had an evening meal with my daughter at The Raven and was impressed. Place was very clean, staff polite and attentive and the meals we had were very good... especially the Lamb Rump with mint gravy ( with sauté potatoes and peas)

We ordered two beef dinners and two veggie dinners today and they were all absolutely outstanding! More than enough food and gravy and certainly no skimping on the portions! So lovely to have somewhere local that offers such an amazing Sunday dinner ☺️

We have visited this former pub for decades and seen it change hands and character. Today we three had a business lunch there booked for 1pm. We arrived five minutes early but did not get away until 2.20. That period was far to long for a lunch-break for busy people...one of whom had travelled from North Wales and was returning there afterwards. Service was VERY slow....food order not taken until 1.20. Not the waitress Megan's fault who was very pleasant and keen to serve. We chose the House Specials (not the cheaper options) and paid £14.95 for each of 2 Beef Stroganoffs and £12.95 for a baked cod dish. The food was delicious but the Stroganoff portions were very small with few pieces of beef, a similar quantity of mushrooms and a little mound of rice. Definitely not good value for any of the 3 dishes. When it came to paying the (manager?) could not provide a VAT receipt! We regularly eat all around this area but will not visit here again. This is a real pity because we need more well-decorated and furnished restaurants like this locally.

We went to the Raven to have sunday lunch on the 08 August 21.It was a welcoming site to be able to walk around and actually order drinks at the bar.I had the Beef and my wife the lamb both delicious, the veg was all fresh and plenty of it, the staff were very polite and the service was excellent fair play always checking if we needed anything and very courteous.And to top it all we had the Cheescake OMG it was amazing with cream (of course)We would like thank Martin and all the staff for looking after usSee you all soonMr & Mrs Morris

Had a Sunday dinner food was outstanding, plenty of it. Staff were very friendly, considerate inviting. Plus the choice of cheesecakes suited me down to the ground will definitely be returning

My visiting family and I dined here last night. Catered very nicely for three adults, a fussy teenager and a six year old - all enjoyed their meal. A wide variety of starters and choice of mains together with desserts all delicious. Friendly and welcoming. Would recommend.

Went for the first time for Sunday lunch. Booked ahead for 2pm. We sat inside by the back entrance positioned perfectly to enjoy a lovely breeze on a very hot day. The service was prompt and our drinks brought quickly. We were served at the carvery where you were able to mix up the meat. The pork and beef was delicious as was the vegetables. Just too much to get through for me. Desserts were nice. The cheesecake selection really does impress. They advertise these on their fb page. You will be asked if you want cream, ice cream or custard regardless of what dessert you pick which is a bit weird but takes all sorts I guess. The Raven is spotlessly clean and the staff looked smart in their attire. Big car park behind. We will return.

Visited last Monday night , excellent choice on the menu , I had the fillet cooked to perfection to be fair , service from the staff was fab, lovely clean and tidy restaurant. Would definitely recommend.

We tried the Steak burger and Chicken burger which we never order for a change...very happy with our choice as both were delicious also the chips were the best we have ever had...well done Chef....we will eagerly return with friends and family in the future....Staff were very polite and efficient too

Welcoming, efficient, friendly, fabulous home cooking non of this frozen junk. Best veggie nut roast Sunday dinner! Broccoli and cauliflower cheese to die for, ample fabulous tasty home cooked roast potatoes, tasty stuffing, yorkshire pudding and plentiful choice of veg. (Vegetarian gravy automatically given without asking!) Partner had chicken and gammon with all trimmings. Apparently the meat was cooked to perfection not the usual dry meat you get at a chain pub. Honestly, its a gem. Easy parking and follow Covid rules. Definitely recommend. The midweek meal menu looks good too!

Really lovely pub, well decorated and a friendly atmosphere.The food was perfect, steaks cooked exactly as we had requested, garlic mushrooms are the best I have ever tried. potion size was very good ordered the peppercorn sauce as an extra, this came in a large gravy boat, not one of these tiny little jugs which hold enough to cover about a quarter of your food so that was a huge plus for me. staff were very efficient and the food arrived piping hot.The staff were welcoming and friendly, well worth the 45-minute drive from home, we will definitely return and recommend it.

What a fabulous place. We have had take away Sunday lunches from the Raven throughout most of lockdown The food is fresh huge portions and hot now that we can visit inside it’s wonderful to see the great staff the chefs ,waitresses. What a total gem of a place whatever you order you will not be disappointed Martin and team. You have been absolutely brilliant throughout. It’s our weekly treat. First time out for a meal in 17 months. The Raven has been completely refurbished, food is still out of this world. Service was brilliant. Wasn’t sure what to expect but we had no concerns. Our visit made us more adamant to go out for meals more. Keep up the excellent work

Went to The Raven Inn for a meal Saturday lunch and it was superb! The food, the service and the environment was spot on! I highly recommend!!I had the Manhattan chicken and it is to die for. Perfectly cooked chicken with a delicious cheese sauce. From the moment we arrived we felt so welcomed. Such friendly staff. I must say they were very prompt and the measures in place for COVID were spot on. I most certainly will be back.

We were all looking forward to celebrating a birthday meal out as a family. First in over 18months. My daughter phoned to check that they would be able to provide a full salad as an option as I am unable to eat anything with carbs in. The reassured her that they could. Therefore, she booked a table for 4th June 2021 at 5.00 pm. We were greeted and seated by a pleasant waitress. The glasses on the table were not clean covered with smudges and finger prints. My son said to disregard them as we wouldn't be using them. When the 'waiter' maybe 'manager' came for our order of drinks I explained about the previous request of a full salad and he confirmed this. When he waitress came to take our order I asked for the Tuna steak with the vegetables and a full salad instead of noodles priced at 14.95. . The starter was expensive with prawns my son and I only had 6 on a plate- but given that it was prawns they are expensive so ok! My main meal was really disappointing and most definitely not worth the 14.95 price. On the plate was approx. THREE CUT UP PIECES OF LETTUCE LEAVES underneath a SMALL TUNA STEAK and NOTHING ELSE. I feel cheated and robbed especially after we specially requested a week beforehand and twice on the day for a full salad option. If they couldn't provide the salad as an option - they just needed to say this and be honest - please! If you had informed us that a full salad could not be arranged that would have been ok and we probably would have booked a different venue who could accommodate my needs, To spend £93 on a birthday meal and feel totally dissatisfied is gut wrenching. I did highlight my disappointment to the waitress and nothing - no acknowledgement what so ever from the waitress, manager or the chef. I personally would not go there again - which is a pity as it so close to where we live now and with the kids fleeing the nest- my husband and I would gladly opt for a meal out instead of cooking, The Red Kite will be next on our list - lets see if they can deliver a salad as an option for a main meal!

The rest of party had no complaints, so that amelliorates my criticism as does the fact it was a nice place and lovely staff. A bit saddened to see a hand-pump on the bar delivering no real ale, but the real disappointment was my 12oz sirloin: I've had much better at Weatherspoons at half the price.

Always been a really nice and great pub! Food was good, however disappointed after booking a month in advance (understandable that people would also book in advance but with empty tables sitting under shelter and walk ins being places on these then) to be put on a soaking wet table and bench, could at least wiped the table and seating as they know we were coming and wasn’t raining at time of arrival! Would still recommend but the meal wasn’t as enjoyable as it could be

Fantastic roast beef dinners delivered to my elderly parents on Sunday. My parents raved about the quality and quantity of food (massive portions). Also ordered Maltesers choc cheesecake and apple pie. Booking online (via FB messenger) and paying for the food was easy. Absolutely recommend the Raven for home delivery during these difficult times.

I cant judge on the staff due to covid-19, The delivery driver was lovely and kind but I wouldn't waste your hard earned money, first off the food oh my god the swede was raw the runner beans were horrible and all veg was just generally under-cooked the meat was chewy and the only good thing was the mash, The Maltesers cheesecake however the little Malteser on top was the only good thing about it the mousse was textured horribly and the biscuit base made me feel sick to my stomach i was horrified to spend £30 on this expecting a good meal but I feel like I've been robbed.

Had lunch at The Raven last week, lovely crispy fresh baked bread with tuna salad and my other half had a fantastic southern fried chicken wrap. We choose from the lunch menu but the full menu was available. Great service, great local pub!

Well satisfied both of us with the food yesterday evening, Mrs D had the plaice & chips while I had the special of lamb rump on bed of mash with red sauce and veg of peas /greenbeans /swede & cabbage.Covid regs compliance observed by all.Diolch Raven

went for food here with my sister and due to covid it was the first time I had been out for food in months and it did not disappoint. Food was amazing so fresh and cooked to perfection, the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly which made our visit alot more enjoyable. I would definitely be visiting here again soon, if you are looking for somewhere to enjoy all home cooked food this is the place to go. Thanks very much to all the raven staff

Nothing special about this place, bog standard menu, the big thing was the cleaning standards in the current climate. Person on the next table finished their meal, paid and left, table was cleared and re-laid, no cleaning or even wiped.

As a regular customer I’ve had no complaint over the last 2-3 years as quality of food & service was not only good but also consistent however, what a difference the lockdown period has made. 2 visits in the last week proved very disappointing and I asked whether there had been a change of management and/or chef as a mid week lunch proved a disaster, 2 of the chicken meals returned as they were over cooked with no real acknowledgement of the poor quality, we had to remind staff on leaving that we weren’t paying for the chicken dishes.A subsequent birthday meal (no mine) for 4 proved no better but for different reasons:* No sauvignon Blanc wine available albeit there were 2 choices on the wine menu, Pink Gin was the chosen alternative.* 7pm booking and only 2 chicken meal choices left.* Ran out of Pink Gin within the hour.* Clearly a popular venue for the younger generation especially with the marquee erected, place was mullered.* Cigarette smoke wafting into the eating area from those smokers shielding from the rain.* Manager was asked whether they do the 50% government scheme’ in the week day, his response was “no need as we’re mostly fully booked”. It’s a shame he didn’t consider passing on the benefits of the scheme to his remaining loyal customers

Visited for Sunday lunch on 19th July . We were sat in the marquee. Food was very nice and good value for money as potions were huge. Very well organised Covid precautions. Would certainly visit again.

Just returned from a meal with hubby. I had the need fillet special with blue cheese & Mushroom tartlet. Hubby had pork tenderloin wrapped in Parma ham. I didn't need a steak knife, my fillet fell apart, the tartlet was stunning, hubby pork looked amazing, I'm definitely trying that next time! Apple crumble cheesecake....not a lot to say, surprised there was any left it was gorgeous. If I could have I would have eaten it all again!!! Stunning food, superb service and good prices

Went here for Sunday lunch 1/3/20, It was a carvery roast pork was lovely but the all the vegetables were stone cold , my daughter's lunch which was Vegan was very good her nut roast was very appetizing and all her vegetables were served on separate dishes were piping hot, I ordered Lemon meringue pie for dessert it was nice ,but the portion was smaller than a childs portion,

I was supposed to go out to lunch today at the Raven but didn’t feel up to going out. Instead, after my daughter had lunch there she brought me a takeaway carvery.Congratulations chefs, the dinner was awesome, that roast pork was amazing and your gravy was spectacularCan’t beat a fabulous roast dinner brought to the door and enough left to heat up for lunch tomorrow

We had lunch in the Raven and I would highly recommend the food which was superb. The service by the young girl (didn’t get her name) was excellent. The only gripe we had was that the heating was off and it was very cold there but apart from that we will call again

My family and I popped in after the new year for a quick lunch. Wow what a find. So welcoming and comfy. We were greeted and sat at a table with such politeness and the staff were all so friendly. We had the new 2 course lunch offer they have at the moment and for the price what a deal, Delicious and the portions certainly didn’t leave us needing more. We will definitely be back and soon I hope.

I have to say what an experience it was a family Christmas get together. The staff just couldn’t do enough for us even though it was very busy the food was served so quickly you would have thought we were the only 7 people there 3 of us had starters which were lovely as for the main course 6 of us had different things which all arrived together with the sides 2 of us had fish which could have been hotter but was perfectly edible 1 of us ate it all and the other 1ate half of it we only mentioned it to the amazing waitress and she came back to say they were taking the price of the both fish of our bill thank you so much for that my 12 year old son who has an fantastic appetite could not finish his childs meal but managed to find room for a huge piece of choclate fudge cake with ice cream he asked if he could have custard as well no problem at all nothing was too much trouble for the amazing friendly staff thank you so much for the best night in a long time WE WILL BE BACK cannot recomend it highly enough x

What a fabulous night out with friends for our annual Christmas get together! The food was absolutely stunning and very large portions! We definitely didn’t leave hungry, more like stuffed turkeys! Restaurant area beautifully decorated and layed out Really really deserves a 5*, however I used your toilets , freezing cold , old and in serious need of a modern refurb ... this would take you to a different level indeed .

Poor vegan and vegetarian options. I had the curry which was frozen veg in a mild sauce. The Raven is a lovely setting and a great atmosphere, I just wish that they’d be a bit more imaginative with their plant based options!

Been waiting a year for these bad boys to be back on the menu!!!My friend and I called in for lunch, as always a friendly warm welcome.We started with crispy Camembert served with cranberry sauce and prawn cocktail, both delicious. Then we had the Yorkshire pudding wraps that we have been waiting for since last winter - we were not disappointed there is a choice of 4 different wraps:Pork with apple sauceBeef with horseradishLamb with mint sauce Turkey with cranberryWe decided on lamb and beef. You receive 2 generously filled wraps , crispy roast potatoes, veg and a jug of delicious gravy.Really delicious and perfect for a light lunch although when we finished we were too full for dessert - next time definitely leave room

I cannot recommend The Raven Inn in Garnant highly enough. From the moment you walk in you are welcomed warmly by the staff, they cant do enough to make your visit a lovely one. The main menu available Monday to Friday has something for everyone, and the sunday carvery is THE best I've every had!! The prices are ridiculously reasonable for the portion size you receive.....you will never leave The Raven hungry. It is easy to book a table and they cater to the needs of any group very well. We always need space for a toddler and a pram with our youngest in and they never fail to make sure we have enough room! The one thing I always recommend from here to everyone is definitely the cheesecakes!!! The chef out does himself creating flavours that please everyone!! Everytime I go there I am left full and always look forward to my next visit!

I always enjoy going to The Raven for food as it is always delicious! I am a fussy eater (due to uncooperative bowels) Every time I go I order the fish. This evenings fish of choice was sweet chilli salmon and I ordered it with a salad as am a big lover of roughage! Although the salmon was delicious it was swimming in chilli sauce and by swimming I mean drowning in it, to the point that my cucumbers were floating around my plate! (Sea sickness) springs to mind! Although i ate it all I did spend a lot of eating time separating the fish from the sauce. (Could have done without this if I’m honest) My daughter had the profiteroles, one of which I stole and it was an orgasmic ball of cream and chocolate (to die for) I recommend these! My other daughter had the ice cream which was more of a sorbet really due to it being very icy! I appreciate that ice cream is frozen but I don’t think it needs titanic ice bergs through out it I don’t think! Despite these little minor criticisms I will return here for another meal!

Heard many great things about the Raven so we decided to give it a try. It certainly did not disappoint! The staff were friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere. The food portions were very generous and tasted fantastic! Will definitely be heading back there soon.

Called in a few Sundays ago on the off chance of a Sunday carvery, and got very lucky as the restaurant was very busy, however the staff were really friendly and helpful and we were served quite quickly. The food was stunning, great selection of meats, veg etc and also some really nice desserts, the homemade cheesecake especially! I used to visit quite regularly but haven’t been in a while, but it’s good to see that their standards never drop. Will definitely be returning.

Me, hubby and our 2 kids had another lovely steak dinner here last month. The steak was cooked perfectly and they were accommodating for my request to have salad instead of chips. The chips looked amazing tho. They even do a mini steak and chips with the trimmings on the kids menu which you seldom see. My 7 year old demolished the lot. Comfy, clean and relaxing.

Went to The Raven Inn for my sons 17th birthday the food was absolutely amazing! The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I had the Manhattan chicken with chips and it was delicious, the rest of the family had burgers and they loved them. Highly recommend and will definitely come again.

Lovely atmosphere, staff very attentive but, most of all, great food!! Will definitely be returning soon!!

Had a fantastic meal. Service was great and staff were really friendly. Chefs were very helpful and catered for our dietary needs. Would certainly return.

Went to the raven tonight with some friends, from the moment we arrived we had great service Richard the manger was fab and the food was out of this world I had the lamb special which had to be up there with one of the best meals I’ve ever had my friends had all different types of burgers and they loved them all, many thanks can’t wait to come back

Went for a visit today for lunch, had the new welsh chicken with creamy, cheesy leeks over the chicken breast, with amazing home cooked chips! Very reasonably priced there too! Will definitely be going back :)

Had a carvery here this Sunday just gone. And can say it was the best I have ever had. The meat was melt in the mouth and had loads of different variety of vegetables which were all cooked to order and get gravy was put of this world. If definitely go again and recommend this place

We visited the Raven Inn a lot over the summer as I heard and saw that there were fab lunch meals, and they did not disappoint! Fantastic offers for children’s meals over school holidays and the food was superb! The steak ciabatta and chips was so tasty, I had to go back the following week, and again the week after. We went nearly every week over the summer holidays and each time it was fab :)

Me and my wife stopped at this wonderful place while passing through town. Inside felt fresh and modern, indicating to me that it has been newly refurbished; it really was a delight to relax here. We had dinner for two and portions were very generous and more importantly fresh. This place is clearly making an effort to impress and the homemade chips are up there with the best! The ladies serving us were lovely and clearly cared about the customers. I highly recommend if you are in the area - this place is a hidden gem and I wish it was my local

Had a wonderful relaxed lunch with a friend so we could have a catch up. From the minute we arrived we felt very comfortable Staff were cheerful and welcoming. We ordered steak and ale pie which came with chips salad and veg, my friend ordered lasagne with chips and garlic bread, the portions were huge and excellent value for what we had. I am mega fussy about steak pie as I hate any fat or gristle and I like the meat to just fall apart, I was not disappointed!!!! It was amazing with beautiful tender beef and light crispy pastry, my friends lasagne was rich and delicious, she could not finish it as there was so much but the staff wrapped the rest up for her to take home.Excellent meal in a relaxed atmosphere with attentive friendly staff, highly recommended, now I need to lie down for a while

Myself and my husband visited the Raven last night. When I rang to book I was lucky to have the last table available. We both chose ribeye steak and were not disappointed! It came with lovely homemade chips, peas, mushrooms, gorgeous onion rings and side salad! It was absolutely fab! I would have liked a dessert but there was no way I could manage one after that plate full of food! Will definitely be going back there soon and would highly recommend it to others.

Attended as a big group and had exceptional service from beginning to end, with such a big order we were expecting a wait however we were very very pleased how quickly and professionally the food was served. A very happy family. As always I highly recommend!! Thank you to all the staff,

Went to the Raven pub for lunch ordered our drinks and the waitress gave us the menu when we went to order the food we where told she could not take our order yet asked her how long the meal would be after we ordered the meal she could not give us a time never been to a pub like this before and will not be going back

This Inn was about 6 Kms from our B&B. It was busy for a Monday night which was a good sign. Natalie was our server, she was very pleasant, extremely accommodating and she looked after us very well. For our meals we both had the lamb chops, medium rare with the jacket potato. The chops were cooked perfectly. For dessert we had the caramel apple pie not with cream or ice cream but with cheddar cheese. Of course Natalie never heard of such a thing but she delivered! Great service! Lovely meal!

One word....Specials! Absolutely awesome! Mac n cheese burger totally defeated me. Cowboy and Indian sharing platter according to our 17 year old son was one of the best steak meals ever. And yet again service was faultless. Well done guys!

We've visited this pub as we were in the area and it was lunch time. It has good location with plenty of parking, great food which is reasonably priced and very pleasant staff. I will definitely be back!
