While looking for a cleared table, most of the tables still had used plates and cups on them but there was only 2 staff on but not that busy, one lady was serving and the other one was clearing the tables, she then used the same sweeping brush on the table that she had been using on the floor, she never sprayed or wiped the table! After serving they both sat down at a table talking I’m assuming having a break, while there were still dirty uncleared tables.

Been a while since my last visit. Called in for a midday snack with my wife and her sister. The menu may not be the biggest in this world but the selection is good enough and the pricing is quite reasonable. The cheeseburgers were tasty with a good size burger lettuce, tomato and just enough cheese. They also come with a nice sized side salad. I know that in the past the reviews were not too good, but I certainly don't have any complaints.

Visited the cafe as friends birthday so thought I'd treat her .on learning that the chicken was HALAL with no notice to unsuspecting diners I passed in the chicken baguette and had a media Oka toastie..staff were friendly but was put off by eating halal slaughtered food .. the toilets stank and looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for weeks !!! Ucan always tell if a place is clean my the toilets so dread to think !!! Cant get to speak to any1 so hence a poor review .

Called in yesterday for a look round and went for a coffee. Staff friendly and decent Costas coffee. Asked where the toilets were and was told to avoid at all possible as they were disgusting explaining they had no cleaners! Well I was desperate so thought I’d chance it. Never seen such Disgraceful public toilet in my life, the floor looked like it hadn’t seen a mop for months, there was a full toilet roll down one of the toilets and the other one was covered in s***. I cannot believe they keep this open for the public. In our current times you would expect cleaniless to be paramount!!! Shame on The Range, you really need to sort this!!!!

Terrible comida y muy cara para lo que era. Dos ofertas de comida para niños son un sándwich de medio queso seco y sencillo, una manzana, una de las cuales parecía haber sido pateada en la calle, dos galletas oreo y un brote de fruta. Un sándwich de panini de atún que parecía haber sido calentado entre las nalgas de uno de los miembros del personal, un bloomer de salchicha que parecía que lo había estado estampando mientras calentaba el panini, dos brownies de chocolate secos que también podrían haber salido de un perro ¡y dos cafés tibios para mayores de 23! ! ! El personal era miserable, ni siquiera nos preguntó si nos gustaría alguna salsa para probar y hacer la comida comestible. Sinceramente, ojalá nos hubiéramos sentado afuera y revisando los contenedores.

Reading the past reviews I had to double check I had selected the correct venue before writing this review. On our shopping trips to Monks Cross we always call here first to look around the store and then have a snack. Whilst the selection might not be the same as a high class top end restaurant the selection of food is quite adequate. The pricing is reasonable, the quality of the food is good, you get a decent size teapot and cups and the tea tastes like tea. The staff are always pleasant and make sure you have everything you need. Service is fast and efficient. There are toilets located just a few steps away from the cafe area.

Visited here with my family, I have never encountered such miserable, unhelpful sour looking customer service in my life. They never crack their faces!!! They look like they hate being there. The latte was almost cold and the cakes are hard. (Like their faces)! Will go to Marks and Spencers next time

Me and my mom have been here a few times and the food was acceptable but today it was horrible the staff are miserable and unenthusiastic. We ordered a sausage roll which was okay but a simple order of beans on toast was horrible. Warm bread buttered on the opposite side so that when checking the bottom looked okay but was left barely toasted on the other side. Resulting in soggy, barely warm bread. The beans were fine but in my opinion too many for the portion of “toast”... seriously you know it’s time to go home when a simple order can go so wrong.

Asked to pay for food separately carried on doing it on one transaction got frustrated and was then rude about us and spoke about us to other colleges. Had a toastie the person preparing touched her face and her hair then continued to prepare and touch my food.

Dee Dee’s cafe at the Range Dee Dee's is really Cheap n cheerful. Basic cafe coffees and tea. They offer a bacon and sauce bloomer toasty meal deal for £5. Other sandwiches, crisps and drink are available. The care is on the mezzanine allowing customers to look out over the shop. The mezzanine itself feels a bit flimsy when people walk past the floor shakes and the vibes goes right through you. Clean simple furniture is adequate. staff seem to know what they are doing and helped us carry our tray to the table it was a quiet afternoon tho. Tea £2.10 coffee between £2.10 and £3.10. iced drinks too Kids meals catered for too. Toilets are a bit basic. The women’s toilets have no baby changing facilities apparently there are some in the DIY dept downstairs

we had a coffee and a sausage sandwich as part of a deal that was on offer,we now know why because to be frank the sausage was dreadful,should have had the bacon.

4 adults and 1 child all visited The Range in York yesterday, we waited in que for at LEAST 20 minutes, baring in mine there was only a few people in front of us. Barely much on the menu. All the tables needed clearing and wiping, the serving staff was extremely slow. There was a lad on the hot drinks and one woman serving, she was getting confused alot and blaming it on the customers! We were told there was a wait on food to be heated, ridiculous! I waited over 20 minutes for a panini to be toasted! My friend was waiting even longer for a jacket potato! The food wasnt that great, flavourless and WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for what it was. My daughter decided she wanted a pack of oreos, (only 2 biscuits in 1 pack) charged at £1 !! A bag of crisps, £1. Sausage roll, all dry and flavourless over £2! Now i dont mind paying the money, if its actually nice and sitting in a clean place! They were clearly understaffed, yhe company needs to sort this out.

Enjoyable break while shopping in The Range. Food nice and staff helpful. Soft drinks slightly expensive though..

My partner and I called in the cafe for lunch on a Saturday lunchtime. We waited AGES to be served and there was only one family in front of us. There’s only one member of staff serving customers, making hot drinks, warming food and taking the money. When we were served, it took another 10 minutes to work out the correct prices as the till wouldn’t accept the ‘meal deal’ prices. There were at least 7 or 8 people waiting behind us. I told the server, they needed more staff and she replied with “the company has cut our hours, nothing we can do”. I suggest the company (part of compass I believe) restructures their policies at this cafe. It’s shocking service and they are going to loose customers daily.

Visited here today and was told could not combine loyalty drinks stamps as it was fraud ? Other large and small coffee shops have no problem doing this. Ordered two toastie and a bacon roll. Bacon roll came out first and had been eaten before toastie came out. Staff not as pleasant as previous range coffee shop staff

We have used this cafe on a number of occasions and found it very pleasant. Monday last we were at caravan and decided to pay another visit to look round shop and visit coffee shop. The coffee shop has had an upgrade and looks very nice with new seating and tables etc. However, the service was poor compared to previous visits. Not sure if it was lack of staffing or not but the que built up rather quick and the barista staff were overheard trying to put people off hot food and steering them to counter food as the kitchen only had one member of staff and had a few items of food to heat.

It been took over now it called Dee Dee but interested to see Costa but anyway we not complaining about it, they doing their best and everyone had a different views on this and I feel upstairs it waste of space because seem big gap and need more warmth in it.

We stopped here for a late lunch and found the food and drinks to be very tasty. The cakes especially are worth a try - they were delicious. The staff are very friendly and the place was spotless. Quick and efficient service

In common with other Range cafes it is now called Dee Dee's Family Cafe and is run by the Compass Group.

Good place to get things you need for the house and Garden. Also craft pieces, D I Y and much more also a good coffee shop when you have looked around

Hiya, We call in here sometimes when we are in the area. Midday usually and have hot drinks and a toasted currant teacakes. More often than not we are served quickly with the drinks and the food arrives soon after. All in all we have found it very good value, clean and tidy etc.

We were shopping in The Range and decided to regroup and stop for coffee and cake. Not a good idea. Not sure what was happening with the air conditioning. It was unbearably hot in the store although there were two tables with fans which helped. We visited on a Sunday and there were only two staff on. I counted 8 tables that had not been cleared which isn't great when you want to eat somewhere with dirty dishes everywhere. There was a queue at the counter because 1 of the staff was struggling to remove a pizza from the pizza oven which had got stuck. Service was incredibly slow and not very friendly. We won't stop here again.

Lovely setting now they have had a revamp. Staff helpful. Ordered a cheese and ham toastie which arrived with a small salad. Nice and fresh. Only downside is the non existent air conditioning which they have compensated with fans on some tables but really if they addressed the problem would encourage more people as everything is well organised

Usually pop in to the Range café for a coffee and cake whilst shopping in the area. Very basic food range, sandwiches on white bread, toasted teacakes. However, the service is good and staff friendly.

Visited the store today for a couple of necessary bits. Yes we are having a warm spell but nothing was preparing us for the unbearable, unacceptable conditions in the shop!!!. I only needed a few items and usual the shop has everything and this I cannot fault, but after 10 mins I had to sit down and have a cold drink before I even attempted to take my few items to the checkout!!. I thought I was going to pass out and the sweat was dripping of customers and staff alike. I commented to a staff member how hot it was and she actually had wet hair. She said that there air conditioning ws broken and they had no idea when it would be fixed. The staff in the cafe were spot on and got us a fan for when we had our drink. No wonder there were hardly any customers in there!!. We then left straight away and the relief to get out of the doors was something else. It felt distinctly chilly outside thank god. Now this not so great review is not aimed at the staff as they were amazing and helpful but that the company would expect them to work in those conditions was something else!!. If we could of bared it we would of spent more time and bought more stuff but I'm sorry I got the bare essentials and got myself out of there ASAP! . Sort out the air conditioning Range as you are letting your staff down!! They, however, are keeping your business going under ridiculous conditions. Shame on you :(
