Traditional back street pub. Good beer!

Fabulous real pub. A gem - not many left like this in modern Britain. NOTE - contrary to previous reviews it is no longer cash only. Stafford is a lovely town too - pity about the huge closed down shopping centre and market.

Great traditional, back street local with a solid fuel fire. 3 cask ales available but all were bitters of similar style (Timothy Taylor Boltmaker, Landlord, and Wye Valley Butty Bach.

Firstly a big tip! It's CASH only! Then consider it's only just over a five minute walk from the railway station. We had a delayed train brilliant find! Cask ale was Bass ( very drinkable) & if we had more time would have tried the other casks including Bolt maker! Friendly landlord, nice warm cosy pub Highly recommended!
