The Railway Inn in Merthyr Tydfil

Friendly staff really disappointed to find a hair in my food. Even more disappointed with the manager’s response. He just offered me a clean fork and told me the it couldn’t have been from having chef as he is bald. Not impressed, no apologies.

Booked here for my dads birthday polite service over the phone very helpful. Turned up and was shown to our table straight away we also had our son with us who was 1 they made a fuss with Him and got him crayons and paper and anything they could find to entertain him so he was in his oils. Table service was grate checking in with us regularly. And the food was amazing very tasty and big portions. Was our first time eating here and will be returning in the future highly recommended.

We popped in for a family meal over the festive period. Food was amazing, everyone enjoyed and we will definitely be returning!

Pop in last minute for some lunch on Sunday over the bank holiday weekend. Limited menu for Sunday lunch but still a reasonable selection to suit most tastes. We both had a roast and it was quite good, served hot, and tasted very nice. Service was good and friendly. I would go back again

Always have good food here. Today I was a hungry and so had 3 courses all of which were good quality and size and we had 3 courses for less than £20- value too

A good local pub serveing really good meals at a reasonable price Also a good service ample car parking Deco fresh and clean Well worth a visit You will not be disapointed

Took a cheeky trip to The Railway while the child was still in school as it came highly recommended by a family member and I have to say it didn't disappoint. The place has had a complete refurbishment and the staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. When we arrived we were the first ones there but by the time we left there wasn't a spare table. Fantastic food, extremely tasty. We both had the gourmet burgers which were fantastic but the chips that came with it were one of the best we've ever tasted. Top class service and superb food what more could you ask for.

After a complete referb this is going to be the place to be during the summer months. With a car park and children's area .Food not too expensive but quality,tasty and plenty

We found this little gem by accident, the food is fantastic and so full of flavour. It's a shame it's not nearby or we would be there more often Highly recommended

thought id try yet again with yet new management.!! .have to say theres no change the place is so uninviting.have to be honest I stood by the bar and I could smell urine throughout the bar...going to keep it short food is awful chips are frozen and tasted of old oil..yet to speak to anyone that has had a lovely meal...railway I wont return and wont recommend you.sorry wish you all the best

We went for husbands birthday lunch the 2 for £10 meals are very good value well cooked well presented and plentiful food Has been taken over recently and is much improved daughter had the steak and peppered sauce which was excellent Would highly recommend the service was served quickly and with a smile

Wir haben einen Tag erwischt als es einen schlimmen Regen gab und es hat sogar hinein geregnet. Es gab sogar einen Kurzschluß und die Kaffeemaschine funktionierte nicht mehr. Es stan sogar ein Eimer im Haus um die Gegentropfen aufzufangen. Doch der Besitzer schaffte es das Essen fertig zu stellen und wir waren mit dem Essen sehr zufrieden gewesen. Es gab Lammkeule. Die Möbel im Pub ist sehr veraltet und as Haus braucht eine Reparatur. Doch in der Gegend ist dieser Pub sehr beliebt.

Visited here a few times over the years and each time new management....awful place cold no atmosphere children running in and out of kitchen...waited over hour for food...awful food don't think the chef is qualified ! Will never eat here again !

Great food at great prices.. didn't have to wait to long for the meal. It Was all spot on both meals.. Lovely staff very friendly. A nice friendly pub. Will definitely be going again soon.

We visited here after being told (albeit around 2 years ago) that it was very nice. Pros: Food was very nice. Homemade chips. Low cost soft drinks and food. Cons: No atmosphere. Staff weren't friendly. Freezing cold in there. Absolutely ages for food to come - 45 minutes in a totally empty restaurant (and bar) is unacceptable (only ordered a main). Restaurant was littered with Children, whether these were related to the staff/owners (had a feeling they were) or not I didn't think it was appropriate having 9, 10, 11 year olds sitting on tables around of you, charging phones, going behind the bar, in the kitchen etc.
