The railway is a unique Devon country pub still with the heritage of the railway Inn it came from. Great food, beer and banter. No dogs unless outside as bar is very small

Friendly landlord who is keen to discuss the history of the pub, if you ask him about it. Lots of interesting photos. Great food & a fantastic range of cask ales. They only accept cash though, so please check before purchasing anything.

Great welcome friendly landlord and staff. Food was fabulous and good value. Super cask ale. One point to note when we were there (May 2023) it was cash only - no cards, so check if likely to be a problem.

Had dinner here last night with friends and we'll definitely go back. Food was great, service was friendly and attentive and most of all it was busy with a fabulous atmosphere. Thank you The Railway, great job.

It was o.k. but try to avoid eating in the bar area, can be very noisy.

Popped in for a dinner time pint whilst staying locally, a warm welcome from the landlord and locals with a great bit of banter, loved it, quality, authentic pub .

Loved this place, really friendly landlord and locals. Have been on 2 occasions during our weekend away. Stopped in for a pint on the first day, and returned for dinner the next day. Excellent food as well!

A hidden gem and regular Good Beer Guide enrty. Don't expect finery as this pub is located adjacent to a working farm and used by farm workers and locals alike. Bert, the landlord, is a welcoming local with a broad accent. If you can't understand him there is a list of 'Bertisms' on the wall to help you! A must visit - if you can find it!

Bert and Claire who run this pub are truly great with customer service. You will never drink or eat in a pub as friendly and eclectic as this. Love it

A great find. Great menu. King Prawn and Lamb specials excellent. Kids had deep fried Brie and steaks. Staff really welcoming. Worth knowing that it’s cash only. Whether a local or visitor you’ll struggle to find better

Fantastic place, I grew up in Devon and one of the things I miss most is the pubs. This place with its friendly service and warm hum of laughter and local ales is the definition of a good Devon pub. Way above average food for this kind of place as well, delicious.

Couldnt write a review because we didnt even get to the bar before being asked to leave because we had dogs. What kind of Devon pub doesnt allow dogs? They do allow screaming kids be warned. Shame really because it looked like a nice pub wish that they had stated on their website.NO DOGS would have saved us a long drive
