Flic decided to have a day out in Marple. We started at this lovely Robinson's pub next to Rose Hill station. I am pretty sure I have been here a few times many years ago. Large open plan and plush interior with TV's and an outside terrace, also with a TV. Stairs down to a small beer garden beside a large car park. Three of four handpumps in use on my visit. Went for a seasonal Pale Ale, AMO 4.4%. Really refreshing.

Only reason I'm not rating food from here is because I haven't had any. Sat outside on some beer garden benches. The beer garden is actually on two levels but they also have a Tiki style bar in the beer garden and a gas bbq. From the car park you can either go up the stairs inside the pub or up to the upper level of the beer garden which is partially covered.

Expensive for a local pub, nothing special and very quiet when we went in , just another 3 or 4 people in the pub. Paid well over the odds for a pint of bitter and a glass of wine, would have stayed if the price was right but it was daft what we paid. Sorry Railway , not for me better pubs around at much better value for money in these times when money is tight.

We arrived at The Railway after a terrible experience at a pub down the road which I cannot even bring myself to name. Our experience could not have been more different, a complete and utter contrast. 12 thirsty men were welcomed in like an old friend. We were politely asked to track and trace which we were more than happy to do. We were then all asked what we would like to drink and our drinks were brought to us with a smile from quite possibly, my favourite bar staff of all time. The Moretti was crisp, cold and bubbly. Now, despite being £5.70 for a pint, I have absolutely 0 complaints for paying that little extra for superb service. A lovely establishment that we will 100% be returning to on our way back from many an away trip next season.

Party of 5 adults for Sunday lunch. They did advise they did not do a Sunday dinner so we were aware of that. We had pre-booked although the pub wasn't busy, we did have to wait a while for the food to be served. The food was very good but not a lot of it (chips/mash portions were very meagre). So had room for desserts. Asked for the dessert menu which took a while and was disappointed to learn they had no ice-cream. However, that said, the cake/puddings were nice when they finally arrived. Summary: not quick, not big, not going again.

Just returned for a second visit to this friendly well-run pub which has the benefit of being accessible by bus and train (Rose Hill station) as well as boasting a generous car park. Trains unfortunately only seem to run until 21.00 hrs. The pub itself is a characterful building with airy and well laid out rooms - see pictures for details. The bar offers a good range of well kept cask ales plus lagers etc. Where the Railway really scores is with its excellent food offering which appears to be home-cooked and is excellent value for money. Portions are generous enough without being outfacing, leaving room for a pud. Call in on Mondays and Tuesdays to take advantage of the two course £8.95 and three course £10.95 offers, surely unbeatable? The Railway strikes you as a thoroughly friendly locals' pub, scrupulously clean, with a great ambienceas well as being a destination venue. Wheelchair access and disabled-friendly loo available. My only gripe would be that Robbies charge so much for beer which comes from less than five miles away, but don't let that put you off.

Lovely welcoming feel. An old building with all it quirkiness. Comfortable, relaxing. Great night sleep before airport trip. Stayed room 2, lovely shower. We will be staying again. If you are not a fan of corporate hotels this is an option. Great bar. Everything closed at 11pm so quiet night. No breakfast but try Covent Garden cafe next door. A massive breakfast for less than £6, beats airport prices. Only down side was parking limited. Ok as arrived late, be careful of pay & display. Only negative for accommodation was no spoons for cup tea in morning and could do with decaf coffee sachets. Looking for airport stop over try this. Will be going back and recommending to friends. Only 30min to Manchester airport and that's with road works at 10am. To the licensees thank you for your warm welcome and hospitality

This place has been taken over and its prices are exorbitant to say the least particularly in relation to portion size and overall quality. Our bill was over £100 and we didn’t even have starters. A garlic bread to share came that was three round pieces (like off a baguette from tesco) which we had to share round- we thought it would be a round pizza style which is what you usually get and is far more generous. I would say one tapas dish was ok but even that was overpriced for what it was - it was £8 for small chicken breast with one rasher of bacon wrapped round in blue cheese sauce. This commercially would cost about £1.50 to make! The other food was bland and lacking in quality, but if you’re going to serve this level then at least significantly lower your prices. Otherwise I am afraid I don’t think this place will survive. On a side note of relevance my partner heard two chaps outside criticising the price of the pints, which have apparently gone about by a pound which we were not aware of. Your choice but I would avoid.
