My partner asked the tattooed lady behind the bar what ciders do you serve? She replied “can’t you see these two Strongbow or Strongbow fruits in such a manner that he found very rude . So we decided to leave.

Landlady is awfully rude !, sat quietly with my dad and boyfriend, with my back to the bar talking with friends. She came over and was just rude to us, I don’t think this woman should have a bar if she can not be customer friendly

Had time to kill so I sat in the back garden to have a rollie at 10:50 landlord came out and started SHOUTING at me I couldn't sit there because they weren't open yet. This used to be my pub. Not anymore!!

Thought it was just a bad night for the bar man but reading other reviews it wasn’t just us. I understand not wanting younger people in the bar past a certain time but the attitude was foul. It was only 7pm too and it was dead. No wonder. Guy was acting like a bouncer to a club

Went to this pub with my 3 children for a quick drink post long walk, didn’t expect too much but found the pub to lack any atmosphere, ok service times however extremely rude and unhelpful staff. Manager felt the need to “parent” my children who were sat quietly drinking their drinks and made us feel completely unwelcome as a family. Don’t waste your money, walk round the corner to an establishment who actually provide good customer service!

Absolutely shocked at the rudeness of the landlady. Came for quiet drinks with my parter and ended up leaving with drinks still full she left us feeling so uncomfortable completely ruined our last drinks in the lakes. Will never return and I would really say if you are not a local avoid at all costs!

I found he landlady to be abrupt and somewhat unpleasant. It has the ability to be the best traditional pub in windermere. But not with this bunch running the show.

Wow is all I can say the most VILE pub I’ve ever being in the rudest nastiest smelliest bar man I’ve ever come across!! Massively gone down hill why buy a pub if you can’t run it or have any people skills ? If you want a 💩 pint and sh*t crack then this is the place for you. Not known a place like it. Much nicer places to go, I’d rather spend £6 on a pint that won’t make me go to the loo every 5 mins

Visited one evening for a drink with other half and 10-year-old daughter. Made to feel very unwelcome. Whilst there is a policy of no children after 7pm, there is no reason to speak to us like vandals. We were told to leave at 7:01pm despite daughter sitting colouring quietly; we had to leave immediately. The poor couple sitting next to us were spoken to rudely too when the gentleman's card transaction hadn't gone through. He was pointed at in the face and spoken to as though he was running off with his unpaid for beer. Clearly only for locals, will take our money elsewhere.

Came here as a family of 7 adults for a drink. Youngest person was 27. Two of us asked for ID. Landlady behind the bar VERY RUDE and terrible attitude. It seemed a chore to ask for a piece of lemon which we offered to pay for! Avoid this pub at all costs, the customer service is shocking. Spend your money elsewhere!

this was the worst pub i’ve ever been too. they honesly made me question my existence because of how rude and obnoxious they where, especially the landlady’s who was exeptioanly large. i will never be coming back here and if i do it means that i want to be shot in the back. please kill me if i ever end up here again. also they don’t do table service while claiming they do - and the Guinness is terrible

Spent £50 in the pub then went for dinner. After waiting 10 minutes for our train in the pub after dinner. We were approached by the incredibly rude and large landlady who said “this isn’t a waiting room” which I found disrespectful after spending so much money here. Also the Guinness tasted awful and the locals are incredibly jarring and unwelcoming. Worst pub I have ever been to atmosphere is poor and very expensive.

Went for a few drinks in the evening as a visitor to Windermere and was made to feel extremely unwelcome by the rude landlady and the landlord wasn’t much better! This is clearly a place where only locals are welcome so I would definitely avoid at all costs as a tourist/holidaymaker.

Absolutely terrible. Genuinely the worst bar av been to. Most exciting part of it was watching someone drop £200 on the bandit. Walls were lifting, bar staff were lifting, people in there… lifting. The drink if a had actually got served one would have also been poison.

We found this pub, to be welcoming and friendly. As there was7 in our party, we were able to all sit together with the locals helping us find seats and moving around to accommodate us!! Lovely warm fire greeted us on a wet and miserable day

We'd had a great week in Ambleside was made to feel welcome in all pubs there, this one day we decide to try the queens in windermere. What a miserable couple behind the bar! How they are in the hospitality trade i just don't know. They complained about the children, then about the dogs. We came in all smiles and was made to feel very uncomfortable, Steer clear !!

Unwelcoming misery behind the bar, wet weekend, took coats off to hang up and promptly told in no uncertain circumstances to hang them on the hooks near the bar. Coats back on and went to crafty bar and had a great time with friendly bar staff

I’ve seen some of the most recent reviews, but feel they are being very harsh. We’ve been here a few times over the years, yes the management has changed, but think that the atmosphere and hospitality is still good. The bar has a warm and welcoming environment, the drink is reasonably priced… Me and my husband found the staff friendly and welcoming.

Avoid. The service was so slow the two persons serving would make a Sloth look hyperactive. It was busy, however neither of the bar staff showed any interest in serving or having any interest in customers. Often one would disappear leaving one to move at a snails pace leaving very frustrated and dry customers disgruntled. Numerous empty glasses laid on tables and the bars, this place needs more staff and personnel with smile and a modicum of personality.

Oh dear this place has gone downhill! Been coming to Windemere for years but seen a big difference in this pub this year. Went in for after dinner drinks, tables looked like they hadn't been wiped all day with lots of half empty glasses lying round inside and out. Only pub I've been in where I wouldn't even put phone on table. Gents toilets stank of stale urine and partner commented that you needed flippers to use it. Wont go back.... such a shame.

Disappointing. Asked for Hendrix gin as it was behind the bar, to be told the bottle was empty…. Got a g&t with no lime or lemon, there’s a shop a few feet away so they could have stocked up… no choice of tonic.. feels like they just can’t be bothered to make any effort. It’s a shame given the location.

OMG where is Vicky? We come every year and the atmosphere in the queens is usually buzzing all day long. New management and it’s awful only good thing is that it’s a cheaper pub than most in Windermere. For us who come every year what a shocking change!!! 10 yr old collecting glasses and wiping tables down! Come on brewery what have you done to the place you have destroyed the dynamic of the place

Popped in for drinks, early evening only intending to have one, stayed for a few more as the character of the place and friendly atmosphere, not to mention the reasonably priced beers and music (DJ) begged us to stay and take it all in… We never had food here as we had eaten elsewhere that evening but managing to find ourselves a table with comfy chairs, we enjoyed our brief Saturday evening visit. A pint of beer and half of Lager came to about £6.30, Considering I was paying up to £6.95 for just a pint elsewhere in Windermere/ Coniston added to the attraction of the place.

The staff here are so miserable. Visitors are clearly not welcome. While we were at the bar waiting to be served there was a woman just stood there with her arms folded and a long miserable face. She totally blanked us. We had to wait until the other guy finished serving to get a drink. Only had one drink. In the next pub we were talking to some of the local people and they said that they refuse to drink in there. Wish I knew that before we spent our hard working money in there. The pub probably only survives due to the location near the buses and train station.

Myself and a friend went for a drink Sunday evening. The bartender wasn't particularly communicative, definitely service without a smile. However good price for a glass of wine. Music playing was a bit weird :-)

Had a few drinks there one Saturday night, very rowdy crowd of men in the front, not much effort to shut them up, its definitely a locals pub, if you don't mind loud people including the manage who told somebody f*** off out of his pub then by all means visit it.....

To be blunt we was on a countdown for when we had to leave because we had kids for a good 45 mins before we had to go. To the last 5 mins, we was reminded of what time to go.. Felt completely intimated uncomfortable and unwelcome. Ruined our night. Not a patch on crafty baa hospitality. Will not be back under no circumstances. Will spend our good money elsewhere.

We called at The Queens on a very wet summer's day and received a warm welcome from staff. Tables were taken indoors but we were offered a table on their beer terrace at the back and it was great - there's a big shelter with plenty of seating where we stayed for several drinks because not only did we feel welcome and able to shelter from the storm, but the prices were the best we'd experienced in the Lake District, around half the price for our usual round of drinks compared to other pubs we visited on holiday. We will definitely call next time we're in the area. Great pub!

Very friendly staff. Gets busy but staff will try to accommodate wherever possible. Gave out blankets when it started to rain or dropped cooler. Would definitely recommend.

Shocking attitude of one member of staff at 16.05 on Thursday 22 July. Sign outside said wait to be seated indoors nobody came out so took about 2 steps inside the pub to look for someone to seat us and the female member of staff said ‘can’t you read you are supposed to wait’ Absolutely disgraceful attitude and customer service as only stepped in doorway for shade boiling hot outside. We were in the pub earlier and there was a lovely member of staff but she had just finished her shift as saw her outside . This member of staff needs training in customer service. Went to the Crafty bar around the corner fantastic attitude and customer service .

Very impressed with the fabulous service from all the waitresses (Beth, Alexis, and K!) All very down to earth, attentive and very chatty and kind! My boyfriend and I returned a few times on our holiday for the great value drinks and familiar service! Thanks guys x

Called into the Queens hotel, after being turned away from the Crafty Baa, due to them being 'at capacity'. Lovely friendly welcome from the staff, secure Covid measures in place, and great choice of drinks at a reasonable price. What's not to like!

Brilliant couple of visits to this impressive pub , COVID compliant , friendly helpful and happy bar staff which tells me they work for a good boss we met the landlady and it was as I thought she is very friendly makes everyone welcome and never stopped working the pub is clean and spacious I highly recommend

We popped in here after arriving in Windermere from Manchester as it is just round the corner from where we are staying . After months of lockdown this is the first real opportunity we have had to get away and just being able to sit in a pub and enjoy a pint and a bit of normality is heaven. We had walked up and down the main street and came back here as I'd noticed the 'wait here to be seated' sign. The one good thing to have come out of COVID as far as I'm concerned is that it is much more civilised to visit a pub. No more 4 deep at the bar struggling to get served. You sit at a table and the bar comes to you. Perfect! We waited no more than a couple of minutes to be attended to and the young lady found us a seat inside. I would have been quite happy to sit outside too as they had a large umbrella covering the seating area in case of rain. We were served within a few seconds of sitting down and the staff kept checking to make sure we were OK and didn't need anything else. They had a large screen TV showing football so my husband was in his element. The pub itself is clean and covid secure with hand sanitiser and the requirement to wear a mask whilst moving around the pub. There is absolutely nothing I can find fault with here so I have no idea why they have received any negative reviews at all. People taking their Covid frustrations out on anyone they can lash out at perhaps? but from my perspective I feel welcomed and relaxed. What more can you ask for from a hospitality establishment?

nipped in on our first night and went back every night we were in Windermere! The covid secure measures they have in place are 100%, from entering the pub to leaving the staff seem to have a 6th sense in order for all guests to have a very positive attentive service. There is clear signage everywhere re routes and reminders of the rules.They are not doing food atm (which they make clear as soon as you enter) the prices are fair, the service can not be questioned and the outdoor seating area is stunning - heaters, covering, TV etc.It is a shame though that given we are enough weeks into the latest rules re masks etc that so many times I had to witness the staff having to remind customers of the rules that are to be followed (how they kept their patience is beyond me!)

Esto presentó un problema ya que solo era servicio de mesa. Alguien se acercó a la barra y eso no salió bien. Teníamos una cita con el Magic Wok, así que intenté que las cosas se movieran. La mujer detrás de la barra vino y tomó nuestro pedido, luego fue a la puerta y la mujer en la puerta fue detrás de la barra. ¿Aún conmigo? Vimos servir nuestras bebidas y dejarlas en la barra. Mientras ella iba a servir un poco de vino, pensé en tomar nuestras bebidas. La joven realmente se asustó. Quiero decir que estaba usando una máscara, ¿qué pensaba que iba a pasar? !A los lugareños les gusta sentarse aquí, imagino que es bueno para observar a la gente. No hay muchos pubs en el centro de Windermere, estoy luchando por pensar en otras razones por las que le gustaría visitar este pub. ¿Es la cerveza barata? No recuerdo.De todos modos, bebimos nuestras bebidas e hicimos una, es poco probable que volvamos.

Llamamos aquí a la hora del té para tomar un trago rápido y decidimos sentarnos afuera. Solo había una mesa disponible y estaba cubierta con ceniza de cigarrillo (claramente no hay mucha limpieza Covid sucediendo aquí). Le preguntamos a la camarera, una chica con el pelo teñido de rojo, si le importaría limpiar la mesa. Ella hizo una mueca y fue a buscar un paño. Luego procedió a limpiar la ceniza de la mesa y ponerme de rodillas. Yo diría que sin ninguna duda, esta fue la persona más grosera que he experimentado en el negocio de los pubs. Naturalmente, no nos quedamos y cuando le dijimos por qué nos íbamos, simplemente se encogió de hombros y se fue con su ropa.

Debo comenzar diciendo que me equivoqué al entrar al edificio sin mi máscara, lo había olvidado y cuando el hombre me dijo (muy agresivamente) que me pusiera la máscara, me alegré mucho de hacerlo. Me puse la máscara de inmediato sin hacer ninguna pregunta. Luego, la mujer nos llevó a mí y a mis amigos a nuestra mesa (todos ahora con máscaras). Luego me dijo que era obligatorio llevar máscaras al moverse por el edificio. Le dije que trabajaba en Urgencias y que usaba máscaras en todos los turnos, así que estaba muy feliz de obedecer las reglas. La mujer luego comenzó a reprenderme por olvidarme y decir que no le importaba dónde trabajaba, que era necesario usar uno. Luego le dije que sentía haberme olvidado y me lo había puesto de inmediato. Luego comenzó a levantar la voz y a decirme que si tenía que volver a decirme, nos dirían que nos fuéramos. Personal muy amable y profesional. La taberna al aire libre en la parte de atrás era muy espaciosa y limpia, con calentadores al aire libre y una pantalla grande para hacer deporte, etc. El servicio de mesa solo se debía a la convivencia, pero no esperó mucho para ser servido. También se admiten perros.No dudaré en volver aquí.

El personal hizo un gran trabajo en las circunstancias actuales, rastreó y localizó tan pronto como llegaste y servicio de mesa rápido y bebidas a buen precio "mucho más baratas que otros bares cercanos" de una camarera muy amable "creo que su nombre era Keisha" nos sentamos afuera, ya que era un día caluroso encantador, ya que hacía más fresco más tarde, la ama de casa nos mostró el interior, todos los asientos estaban separados, el personal era muy amable, que no podía hacer más por usted, especialmente la casera y el propietario, Sin duda volveremos en nuestra próxima visita a los lagos, no podemos esperar.

Visitamos este bar en 2 ocasiones, ambos fueron muy agradables, el personal es un poco impredecible, pero esto se debe a la situación actual, no te acomodarán a menos que hayan desinfectado la mesa, etc. ¡vea usted mismo los comentarios negativos! ! ! !

Intenté tomar una copa aquí antes de cenar en un restaurante local. Comprensión completa del clima actual debido a covid, etc. Esperé a que nos sentaran en una mesa exterior. El barman se acercó y tomó nuestros detalles para rastrear y rastrear y nos informó que alguien vendría en breve para tomar nuestra orden de bebidas. Waited for a seat greeted by a rude waiter who definitely needed some deodorant. When seated had to ask for table to be wiped down and was half heartedly done. We were then ignored and waited 15 minutes to be served and asked twice for someone to take our order. Need up leaving and going elsewhere. Don’t waste your time.

Visited here not too long ago, was able to sit outside in the decent weather. Service was excellent outside so friendly but also really valued keeping people safe by cleaning tables before people sat down, etc. - as we’re in a pandemic - good range of drinks too!

Called in to watch the football on entry it looked busy I asked a member of staff a girl with short cropped hair if there would be any chance of a seat but I was abruptly told "not a chance mate"Exact words!! I know things are difficult with covid but it is not an excuse for rude customer service surely "sorry not at the moment" sounds better. Anyway due to this we ended up in a pub called the Westmorland where the staff were first class.

Everything was perfect. Socially distancing was well taken care of, even with the football on. Landlords are hospital and welcoming. Will definitely visit again next time I’m in Windermere.

Visited this pub on Friday. The staff were very well organised and due to the current Covid situation served you at your table. Very quick and friendly service

Friendly very helpful staff, good choice of beers. Come to the table and take your order for you or serve you through the app. Also put the football on for us too so that’s a bonus!

AVOID!! Rude stuck up ‘owner’. The place appeared packed - I only assume because football was on and it was pouring down with rain and given that there’s only a handful of chairs and half the pub is taken up by the pool table everyone was literally shoulder to shoulder. Don’t dare stand against the wall to try to keep out of the way of people trying to get in and out as you will be very publicly embarrassed by the so called owner who shouts over to the barmaid not to serve me a third drink as I’m clearly too drunk because I’m stood against the wall trying to keep out of the way she was the one embarrassed in the end and a few people walked out as we did as a result. Unprofessional and patronising. There are so many lovely little places to eat and drink in Windermere that will welcome you. This isn’t one of them though unless you’re a local or frequent visitor. I think the owner needs to read these reviews and revise her hospitality skills.

Very good pub indeed . Very friendly staff , very welcoming . Best bar prices in the area , including down the hill in Bowness . Dog friendly , which is always a bonus ... can’t fault at all , and will definitely be returning .

Wouldn’t recommend, me and my other half asked for directions from the owners as we had previously spoken to them in the local pub and they completely ignored us and treated us like rubbish , then when we was asking for directions in the pooring down rain. Not the greatest place I've visited. We (myself and my parents) were in Windermere for a couple of hours before catching a train and attempted to explore the place. However the weather had other ideas, so we took refuge in The Queens. Me and my mum ordered hot drinks, mine was served in a chipped Santa Claus mug (had no one told them it was January) and was basically ok for a hot chocolate. My dad enquired at the bar if food was available, and was told no, which having read other reviews is obviously untrue, but from what I can gather maybe that's a good thing. I will warn ladies of a somewhat larger build you may struggle with the cubicles in the toilets, as they are extremely narrow, but from what I've heard from a previous review it doesn't sound like people know how to use them anyway. If you have the time and the weather is more favourable look around for somewhere else if you're looking for somewhere to take a rest

We called in here for a drink a year ago during our last trip and it was, to be fair, a complete dive. This trip, we walked past and it looked like it had been refurbished so we went in. It's a completely different pub now; clean, cosy, welcoming and well laid out. We had a good chat with the new licensees and they really have turned it around.Ignore the previous reviews. It's well worth a visit now.

Mi esposa y yo, junto con el perrito, aparecimos hoy y tomamos una copa. El personal fue excepcionalmente amable y conversó. Sillas cómodas e impecables. Sin duda lo recomendaría si quieres un buen pub y una gran experiencia. Volveremos cuando volvamos a la zona.
