We are pretty local to the site and came glamping for 3 nights in a large group, we occupied 5 of the 9 bell tents. We had 9 children and 9 adults in our party. The tents were fab, proper double beds and then camp beds for the children, lots of space and nicely furnished with colourful bedding, rugs etc. There were picnic benches and fire pits to use and a block or 3 toilets and showers. The showers all had hot water. We mostly lived on bbq food which one of our group had bought along. The pub staff were accommodating, they opened early for us to watch the Lioness’ game, we pre ordered dinner for one evening and the food was good. I think we may have slightly overwhelmed them one morning when we went in for breakfast as had not pre ordered and was quite a delay for food, but that’s our fault really for not giving them the heads up. Very friendly and approachable staff. Highly recommend for a little getaway for families or groups. We may well be back again!

My family were visiting from the other side of the country - five of us in total. The table was booked for 6pm. I sat at the table that was not yet set at 6pm. At 6.05pm as she was setting the table I was asked about the remaining group. I mentioned they would be around 5 more minutes. The landlady was not happy. From then on, we felt rushed and unwelcome. This was seemingly due to a larger group of 10 arriving at 6.30pm (which by my calculation, even with the rest of my group arrive at 6.10pm, still leaves 20 minutes). There was also comment about the other group receiving their order 'before us which would mean we'd have to wait a long time' - this was still in response to me saying they'll be 5 more minutes at 6.05pm - slight overreaction. As soon as the rest of my group arrived, before they had time to sit down properly, she demanded our order, we weren't allowed to order drinks until after. We weren't provided a couple of minutes to settle in and look properly at the menu. My parents are elderly, and this was stressful. Furthermore, the larger group did not all arrive on time. As with my party, half turned up just after 6.30pm and the others around 10 minutes later, possibly more. They were allowed to order drinks before ordering. With this in mind, before receiving the food, the experience was not very warm or welcoming. In terms of the food, the opinion was split. I had the veggie chilli, which was underwhelming. Though other meals looked very nice and were larger sized portions. The place looks lovely, but not great for parking, we both had to park on the street as the small car park was full. It's a local pub for local people, not really for outsiders. She clearly had good rapport with the locals, but certainly not with us. When she wanted to get past with a high chair, she didn't ask the local to move their bar seat in, she asked my sister instead. This really cemented that we were the ones that were out of place. We will not be returning.

Given the trip adviser reviews and website our expectations were high, unfortunately we were disappointed. The food was quickly served and was OK, but perhaps a little over-priced for the standard. We expected more of a 'restaurant style' pub and this felt much more casual.

I had a lovely welcome when I arrived. I explained my friend would be joining me. She was late and they tried to help me locate her. They held the table for us. Whilst I was there on my own, I was made to feel very welcome. When my friend arrived we ordered. I had the sausage and mash and my friend the steak & kidney pie. The meals came with 6 different fresh veg, the sausages were tasty and the mash creamy. The pie was like she used to have, tender steak and plenty of kidney. We found room for a sticky toffee pudding, moist and tasty. We loved our experience here, the whole package. The staff were all so very friendly and the locals too. We'll definitely go back

Not the idyllic hidden little gem is used to be, now is a tightly packed in glamping site with high traffic of people passing through, owner was back and forth and even drove by forcing us to move our camping equipment. Now charge for fire wood which was in with the price, not all toilets worked and outdoor showers were hit and miss for working/ being cold Unfortunately after many trips here, it is no longer for us

We visited twice, first time just for a drink, pub was quiet, lady behind the bar was very friendly and chatty. Second time, two days later, was for a meal, fortunately we’d booked as the pub was heaving. They were obviously short of staff as there was only one person behind the bar and one young man serving the food, dirty glasses were filling the bar. It didn’t really bother us how busy it was, everyone was happy and enjoying life. Food was excellent and service was good, obviously a bit slow but that was fine, unfortunately our plates were cleared and nobody came back to see if we wanted dessert so after waiting a while we decided to leave. Food was good value for money and there was a varied choice on the menu as well as a specials board, pie night on a Wednesday night.

We even spoke to the waitress about pudding. We would have eaten the pudding out the back if they needed the table but by half 8 no one had asked for the table and the workers just glared at us until we left. So we paid and left there was no ask of more drinks or mention of us having a pudding. This climate good service is everything. Will not be in a rush to return

Sat down to the guy saying they need to table by 8 which wasn’t a problem to us... we sat to having our drinks brought to the table and ordered our food. Once finished plates were cleared and we was not even asked if we wanted a pudding even though when ready the menu was saying how the donuts sounded amazing and was gonna share when the women then said that you get two so that was a win win.... but wasn’t even asked! Wasn’t even asked if we wanted more drinks, I know we was able to go to the bar but it wasn’t clear in what we could and couldn’t do with the restrictions. So after 8.30 and the table obviously not needed we decided to pay and leave and get a pudding else where and have in the comfort of our own home..... won’t be in a rush to return...

Bien, probablemente a mediados de semana pensé en marzo no vale la pena, pero la iluminación hubiera sido más acogedor y obviamente alojado hasta por la noche cuando más concurrido pub? Muy, muy decepcionados!

Stayed a mile down the road to this pub and as it was dog friendly we booked for dinner. Met by friendly staff and shown to table and the dogs settled underneath. Menu was extensive and we soon made our choices. The pub had a friendly buzz about it with a table of six playing games in the snug. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked good and ours turned up just at the right time for another pint. Good sized portions and well cooked food. So good we booked a table for six for Sunday lunch. This time still with the dogs we sat in the snug and when two of our party decided they wanted something a little different to the menu there request was duly met. All the food turned up in good time and from the curry to the lasagne and the roasts it all left the plates very quickly. Well worth another visit when we are in the area again.

For anyone new to the area, the pub is located in a small village called Foulsham, which is not that close to Dereham!.We live just 2 miles away from Foulsham and booked a table for Sunday lunch. This was the first time we had visited, and was welcomed by very friendly staff and locals. We had a superb roast dinner, and a great choice of traditional desserts. We will definitely be visiting this wonderful pub again. A special thanks to Claire for putting us on the table next to the fire as our heating system had packed up at home!!. Your hospitality was very much appreciated.

We visited recently for an evening meal although we had booked the table was not laid for us, my starter was garlic mushrooms these were basic deep fried mushrooms with a side garnish which looked as though it had been prepared by a child, my main course was chicken and Stilton pie this was chicken and leek in an almost clear jelly with not a hint of Stilton flavour and under cooked pastry, cheap previously frozen chips and peas, more like cafe food with restaurant prices. The whole experience was a complete let down, I have not added the comments of the rest of the party but none will be returning!

A group of us had dinner here on the recommendation of our host. We were welcomed with warm smiles and were pleasantly surprised when we made our way to a reserved table which had my partner's name written on a chalkboard - quite a nice touch. The pub is efficiently run by mum and daughter who also served us. It did not go unnoticed that they made time to acknowledge everyone who entered the pub - great old fashioned customer service (unlike another pub in the area which we visited -see other review). All our meals were served hot and were freshly made. Unfortunately though we didn't have room for desert!

This Pub is now under new management, the new land lord is very important to the running of this pub restaurant, it is so much improved over the previous owner, the food was freshly cooked for us but the short wait was well worth it, the bacon baguette was superb and the cheesy chips were the best chips I have had for a long time very hot and crisp but soft and fluffy inside. Sadly I could not have an alcoholic drink as I was driving but lots of real ale and guest Gin WOW I must go again soon

We didn't know what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the meal, which came in most adequate quantity. The establishment itself is very pleasant with a good atmosphere and we were very happy that we had chosen to eat there. Thank you.

typical English pub in a lovely village. Good food. Also - they offer smaller sizes of the most popular dishes which is great. Chunky chips, generous portions, lovely atmosphere and super service.

A traditional pub that serves food - and the 3 courses we had gave a strange impression in the sense that the starter was "basic" and relatively poor, the mains were "average" but the beef was of very good quality, and then the homemade dessert was the best chocolate brownie that we have had as far as we can recall.......so whilst the overall experience was just "OK" there clearly is the potential to deliver high quality throughout

We stayed at the campsite at the Queens Head for the weekend and what a fantastic place it was to be! We ate in the pub both nights (and breakfast!) and each time the food was fantastic and the ales were top notch. It's a lovely quiet village, in a beautiful area and we couldn't have asked for better hosts. A great time was had by all!
