Great atmosphere now the old manager is back

Brilliant local boozer. Always used to pop in for a decent pint when visiting family who live in the area. Well kept and rotating real ales. Best pint of Citra in the town, plus an Oakham stable mate: JHB as a viable alternative, and a couple of guests. Very pleasant capable staff with a convivial atmos. Family friendly with all sorts of dogs and varying age groups. **but** I have to say I've been put off coming in recently and have had to try a couple of alternatives in the town. The last couple of visits have been permeated with a lousy *smell*, a fairly rotten personal hygiene odour. From someone who hasn't seen a sink or bath anytime recently. Off-putting 🤢. The over repeating cycle of 50s/60s *tunes* don't add anything (especially when folk join in 😠😤) Perhaps a jukebox as an alternative? Or change the playlists more regularly? Having said all that, I shall keep coming in, not many decent real ale establishments around, and those that do exist need supporting 🍺

We were passing through town, our elderly disabled mum desperate for toilet amenities, the young girl at bar was sooo helpful, and even opened back gate for ease of access for mum. So very grateful to her and thats what you call caring people. Next time will definitely stay for drink or two. Thank you.

My wife & I had a couple of Black Sheep Ales yesterday & a couple of Timothy Taylor Boltmaker today. Absolutely fantastic beers served perfectly cold & tasting great. Well Done Ronan you know how to keep your beers 🍻 👏

One of Wellingborough's best pubs. 3-5 real ales on - usually Oakham JHB and Citra, Rev James, and a guest ale. Very friendly staff, clean toilets, sports on several TVs. Not really a food pub atm but they do VERY cheap pizzas.

Great pub with a friendly feel. Sport on TV but there are TV free areas too. 5 hand pumps with a good range of ales. Robinsons, Otter, TT Boltmaker, Addams Broadside and 1 being cleaned. Boltmaker was in great condition. CAMRA discount offered too. Well worth a trip.

Large multi roomed pub. TVs but on quiet and some areas TV free. Large T bar with the lagers etc but look round to the right of the bar and you’ll find 5 hand pumps with a good range of ales. Robinson’s, Addams, Otter, Timothy Taylor’s and 1 being cleaned. TT Boltmaker was very good. Staff friendly, it was my first visit, but made to feel welcome. Worth a trip .

Had in mind this might become my new local! Two visits - First 23/12/2022- very pleasant. Second 27/12/2022 -puzzling and I think I met the village idiot. Wanted to be left in peace but it seems punters here do not understand when someone wants left alone!! In light of second would not recommend if you are looking for a quiet drink. Tried to complain but Publican(s) could not be found or be bothered to listen. However, by all means make up your own mind!!

I feel really disappointed at the moment I've been a regular at this pub for many years but recently I've not seen the landlord or landlady at this establishment and I feel the quality of the beers is not great and the staff are closing to early because they have no managment to guide them quality o

Great service and food in a proper pub

One of the few pubs left in Wellingborough that are open for business. Attentive and friendly staff and Covid safe plastic screens between tables. The drawn beer tonight was excellent although not their usual pint. Quiz night every Thursday in which case parking is tight but side roads around the area available.

Excellent service, with good spacing and covid precautions. Staff were very friendly / helpful, while the service was very quick from ordering to getting drinks. The staff also periodically took time to make sure everything was okay. Very nice and pleasant place to have a beer 👍

Had a lovely meal out with lovely company (my wife). Both had the festive burger which was cooked nicely. Staff were friendly and for those who find these things important all the covid-19 rules and regs were adhered too. Clean, friendly and nice comfort food to enjoy with a pint. If I was going to be fussy at all the decor is a little dated, but who cares about decor, when you have nice company and good food.

Been in several times in the evening but first time today for lunch. Lovely freshly made sandwich, plenty of filling and very reasonably priced. Also turned up very promptly so ideal for those with a short lunch break!

Having heard the place had recently been 'done up' we were quite disappointed that it appeared to be the same as it was twenty years ago, bland and dated.The staff are very friendly and there's a good selection of ales.There was a singer on when we were there on a Friday evening but as we were sat in a snug area around the opposite side we couldn't hear anything. A good friendly atmosphere but still tired and dated.

Good atmosphere. Choice of beers. Camra. Do good food but lunchtime only - until 5pm Saturday. Local.

As someone who’s lived local to this pub for some time now I soooo wanted our visit for lunch to be good - but we were disappointed. There were some real positives but I’m sorry to say I wouldn’t go again until they raise their game. The good : We had a warm welcome, they didn’t have a high chair but went and collected one from elsewhere for us which I really appreciated, the staff were very willing (they’d run out of ketchup but one of the staff went to the shop next door to get some) the chips were fat fluffy and piping hot and the lasagne looked homemade and tasted fantastic. The mozzarella fingers were tasty, salad garnishes were generous and fresh and prices were very reasonable. Some plates of food being taken to other tables looked great.The not so good : They brought my dad’s main out at the same time as his starter?! Meaning even though we asked them to keep the main meal hot, it was lukewarm and tough by the time he ate it. The food came out in dribs and drabs, we’d all finished by the time my husband got his meal. Mum ordered the cheese and spring onion topping with her jacket potato, except there was no spring onion in sight, it was white onion - and lots of it. Mum will stink for a week. I had Ham egg and chips and the ham was freezing cold straight out of the fridge, not what I expected I guess. There was also guacamole missing from the nachos which were cheap and stale. Staff weren’t really interested when we queried it. Plates were taken from around us whilst people were still eating and it was generally a disjointed experience. We didn’t stay for dessert and there was no-one around for us to say cheers / goodbye to. Hope to hear of others having better experiences...

External decor looks good but the interior is disgusting.

Drinks with Food. Arrived to find an excellent choice of real ale - Adams Broadside was my chosen choice. Excellent atmosphere the food is excellent Pub Grub. I have to say for me this is the best Pub in Wellingborough.

A comfortable local with friendly staff. Traditional pub with bar billiards, darts and pool. Good place to watch sports and food at lunch times (not Sunday)

Beer is good..... but the wine is gawd awful, so my husband and i won't be coming again. Why not buy a New Zealand sauvignon Blanc? They sell them down the road in morrisons for £7 and you could sell 4 x 175 ml glasses for £5 each yielding you a profit of £13! You'd get more female customers coming along with their husbands and mates if you looked after their requirements as well as the men's!

Great atmosphere. Owners and staff super friendly. Really enjoy coming here for a pint and some games with my mate.

Quiz is sweet. Pints are good, billiards on a Tuesday is always a good night. Bit pricey on the pints though.

Revamped & renovated. Real ale, lagers & friendly, knowledgeable staff. A real back street pub on the High Street!

Very well kept selection of real ales decent wines including proseco. New landlord to this establishment who is the host with the most, offering a welcome to locals and new comers. Just off the main town centre so quite. Will be further tastefully developed as new the new team enhances it further.

New management are making strides to give this old wellingborough pub a new lease of life. Something going on most nights, good and varied selection of ales, lagers, spirits and wines. Lots of separate areas so you can find one that suits your taste.

Has already become my "backup local". Landlord is friendly, accommodating and practical. Also has a Bar Billiards table and a few folks who can give you a very challenging game. Really enjoy my visits here. Modest selection of beer BUT kept superbly. The landlord keeps his lines clean and takes pride in providing an excellent pint. Always know you will get a really good ale if you come here. Quiz night I gather is Thursday so might pop along to see what that is like too :)

Popped in with my husband while walking past to have a look as we weren't aware that the Queen's Head on Broad Green had reopened after refurbishment. I'd never been inside before though it had been my grandfather's watering hole for many years until he died in 1970. Anyway it's a cosy, authentic local serving a good range of drinks with plans for food too when the new kitchen is installed and up and running. The decor is clean and in some cases (curtains, carpet, some upholstery) new, in a traditional style with vintage photos and pictures on the wall as well as other decorative effects such as old bottles and flagons. It was quiet due to the time of day but I imagine there's a good atmosphere when more people are about. Overall, a good first impression and one to support.

Better than it was, at least you can get a decent pint of real ale in here now Trevor has gone
