A very nice place to eat and have a beer from the various brands they have.

Absolute shambles of a restaurant !!!!!! Was seated at the wrong table, waited above half an hour for them to take our food order then over an another half an hour for the food to come (starter) the main came without cutlery so had to wait 10 minutes for them to bring us a knife and fork, by the time we started eating it was cold, soon discovered a black hair in the vegan wellington. Had to ask for the food to be taken off the bill, (we were offered a free drink which we declined) currently waiting for the card machine which we first asked for when I first started writing this review. (Hopefully it will come soon before we both die of old age) Xox

Had a lovely Sunday lunch, there was plenty of food, freshly cooked and a choice of meat. The veg was served separately in a dish in the middle of the table, it was perfectly cooked, good portion sizes and lovely tender beef with an extra jug of hot gravy. Definitely will be back

By far the BEST Sunday dinner for a long long way, very lucky to have this pub on our door step , we have Sunday roast takeaways from here and they are fantastic the staff are always welcoming and polite

Staff friendly service excellent and always had good food. But we had Sunday Dinner meat and veg except for the roast potatoes and honey parsnips, where stated as being roast they were deep fried not as stated.I know this might seem picky to some but I like roast potatoes and expect to get what is advertised especially when you're paying £17.00 for a roast dinner. Pudding nice, but certainly not Value for money £8.00. Over all nice place but that spoilt it for me. Would I go again yes but not for Sunday dinner.

Despite being packed (on a December Monday evening), we managed to find a table and were warmly welcomed by the staff – and the other diners/drinkers. The menu is extensive and the food was superb. (The Vegan Wellington was fantastic.) The portions were huge and the service was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was convivial and cosy. The surroundings were comfy and quirky. From the notices around the pub, it looks like they have a lively programme of events. We’ll definitely be back.

absolutely horrendous, manager screamed at two young girls for coming into the pub to get something to eat, male manager walks into the female toilets and starts banging on the door ordering us to get out just for being in the toilets and coming to get something to eat. absolutely disgusting.

Absolutely discusted at the behaviour of Paul from the The Old Swan, Earls Barton My daughter and her girlfriend (who is 18) were quite excited about going into the Swan to get some food and Paul decided to throw them out for no reason whatsoever. He went into the toilets and banged on the door shouting at two young girls who were going to spend money (not even on alcohol but food) frightening them both. I hope your proud of yourself Paul for scaring two young girls like that, and like I said one of them was 18 so had every right to go on their with a 17 year old to buy food as she is an adult in the eyes of the law. Even if you didn't wish to serve them, a little bit of respect would have gone a long way.

Breakfast here is fantastic! Local pub managed and run by locals. 01/01/2024 Very welcoming, great customers and staff, a very entertaining evening. This pub is great!

We’ve had four or five meals at the Old Swan over the last couple of months and each meal has been utterly delicious. The steaks are particularly good. We bought a large party in recently with a few dietary requirements and everyone was catered for and thrilled with their meals. There are lots of choices of well-kept beer too and the staff are great. This is how pubs should be run.

Booked the Old Swan for a Wake for about 45 on 27th November. Met with Paul 2 weeks earlier to make arrangements. Suggested we have a buffet to cater for 30 people as this would be ample and would include bottomless tea and coffee. The choice of food was really varied and catered for all tastes including a vegetarian choice. Everyone remarked how good it was. I was really impressed that Paul told us to only cater for 30 and he was spot on.( he didn't have to do this he could have taken us at our word and charged for 45). Well done to Paul and all the staff at The Old Swan for taking care of us. would thoroughly recommend to anyone else looking for a venue to hold a similar event. THANK YOU

Oh wow what a RIP OFF the Sunday lunch is at £17.95.....a really small plate, frozen cooked roast potatoes from the ,1970's, hard,undercooked parsnips. Loads of empty tables ( locals have voted with their feet) Far better value in near vicinity eg Great Billing Never again AVOID

Only ID’d the girls, the one person without ID tried to order a coke and was told she could only drink a coke if her parents were with her. I e are all 23+. The man behind the bar was sexist and rude.

Very, very nice food and service was amazing! We bought two dogs with us, which was a little cramped, but everyone was so friendly and the staff were considerate. Only thing was we booked a table for 7.30pm and was told that we had to order quickly as the kitchen was closing, which seemed a bit early so not sure if it was a one off or if it closes that early every night? Would highly recommend it and can't wait to go back!

Beautiful dog-friendly pub. Super friendly staff. Nice outdoor patio area. Dinner was delicious. My crispy buttermilk chicken burger was divine with just the right amount of coleslaw and fries. Hubby loved his steak and ale pie with delish mash and green veg. Thank you to Chef Tom! Highly recommended, you won't be disappointed!

We went yesterday for the music festival in support of the Macmillan Charity and a local family. The event was so well supported that it did take on one occasion twenty minutes to be served but normally it is minutes. However I have to say on that occasion our carbonated drinks were nearly flat and if wasn't for the case it took so long to queue I would have complained. It didn't spoil our day and we thoroughly enjoyed it .The weather was great and we were entertained on the outside decking area . There were two pop up food stalls as well. We will be back and would definitely recommend it.

Found the pub a nice place however the owner was very rude and didn’t make us feel welcome at all, I think a more friendly attitude/face would make a difference.

Enjoyed a drink on the sun deck

Tried the Sunday roast take out so decided to book to eat in. Asked for an accessible table and this was duly provided. No roasts on Sunday but good other choices. Rib eye cooked exactly to medium rare. Lovely scampi and fox in a box equally nice. Good selection of drinks. Asked for one with no ice. Came with ice. Repeated on second round. Clearly said no ice please. Good selection of cask ales. This is a nice traditional pub with a lovely outside decked bar area with seating and other outside seating. However, this has taken up what little parking there was. I suspect parking nearby would be difficult at times. Our service was quick and polite and we were checked in on. Would definitely recommend. They have several special nights. The steak night looks a bargain and would go for that!

It was really nice to go to a village pub that hadn't,t been spoilt. The food was very tasty,plenty of it and not over priced. The landlord was a very convivial person and very approachable. Overall I would willingly give the place 10/10 and recommend anyone to go there. Well done all round.

Friendly atmosphere in a traditional English pub, staff and clientele all very welcoming. Dog friendly. Great selection of Ales, food was freshly cooked, and of very high quality. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely visit again soon to work through the menu.

Decided to try the takeaway Sunday lunch. Arrived and was quickly greeted. Polite greeting. Collection was 15 mins after scheduled time. Would have got a quick drink if I’d known. Portions were plentiful. For 5 we had many vegetables and roast potatoes left. Meat is in a container submerged in lots of gravy. Would have preferred it separate. Roast parsnips were inedible. Too undercooked. Everything else was fine and hot enough to eat as soon as we were home. Price is the same as if you eat in? May have thought it would be a little less. Would happily try again or reserve a table. It’s a decent pub with a good selection of drinks which would be accessible if you ate in. Parking nearby may be an issue though.

Great food and service. Lovely pub to sit in the garden and enjoy the summer sun or sit near the fire to take off the winter chill. New Spring menu is a winner

Arranged for a wake here. Very few pubs in the area are open on Mondays, but the Old Swan is. They were quite happy to arrange some food.

Great quiz night and friendly atmosphere

Had a lovely meal today, food was lovely and hot large portions. Desserts was yummy. Lemon tart was really tasty. Clean and tidy great selection The only criticism is the mince in lasagna tasted a little like frozen with no texture.

Rarely do you find a pub with such good pub food for adults and kids, with a great area to watch football and even better service. A brilliant pub

Had a lovely trip here with my Nan for lunch! Great choice on the menu and really loved the vegan options. Menu was clearly labelled and lots of choice for my Nan! Loved the seniors promotion (she’ll be back). Had a great choice of wine and gins. The staff were super friendly and helpful and could tell they really cared. Such a lovely spot - loved the pictures of Earls Barton on the wall. Great atmosphere and look forward to returning.

This was my first time to go to Northampton, the pub is amazing and the people are very welcoming, the atmosphere was great, and it was my nephew's engagement party

Lovely pub with a vast selection of draught lagers, ales and spirits, I recommend the Neck Oil especially. Plenty of character and memorabilia inside and a cosy outdoor area as well. Did'nt get to try the food on this occasion, but it smelled delicious and the menu looked very reasonable with themed nights and offers daily. Well worth a visit

Avoid!! Zero ☆ arrived Xmas Eve. Cold welcome by disinterested landlord. Overpriced drinks. Cold atmosphere. Never felt so unwelcomed. Hell will freeze over before we step foot in this horrifically unfriendly pub!!!

What a fantastic find. Lovely little pub with such friendly staff. A cosy atmosphere. Generous portions for our seafood basket which was freshly cooked and reasonably priced.

Had a lovely lunch there. Always nice to see a pub doing liver and bacon. Price a little steep. Only complaint would be the veg was raw. Other than that really tasty meal. But for the prices you expect it to be perfect or would be a five star.

The whole visit was very rushed. Although we were able to stay for the evening after we had eaten, the meal was very rushed.

Was there for a private function but rotor definitely return as a regular punter. The party catering was excellent and every other meal we saw coming out of the kitchen looked very tempting. Lovely atmosphere and a very community minded mein host. Don't delay, go today

Love this pub, the real ale's are a good blend and well kept, the staff are great and help you, the garden area is well kept and nice and clean, will definitely be going back time and time again

First time I have been there in many years. I have got to say I think it's an excellent pub the set up is awesome. Gonna have to try the food because that's supposed to be great too. Will definitely go there again. Locals are friendly, staff seem on point. Fantastic.

The atmosphere was lovely and the food was great. I orded the Jerk chicken bowl and the other people I was with got the chicken bowl, braised ribs and the chicken burger. The food was decent and it was all-in-all good however the juice was concentrated and from a carton so if you only like fresh like me I wouldn't advise getting the juice. I'd recommend though have fun!

Attended a celebration with family and friends. The landlord could not have been more friendly, helpful and attentive. Really impressed with the food that was provided, not the usual array of unhealthy buffet food. Every effort was made to ensure the customer received a good service and value for money. Returning? Yes, pretty soon, I'd like to try the menu.

Really nice up together pub. The prices are fairly expensive though.

So I decided to take my partner and son here for the first time for an early dinner after our dog walk, we live in Northampton so I did drive to earls barton to go here today. We arrived and there was no-one outside which was lovely as it was nice and peaceful and we thought great no waiting on service ect. After sitting there for 15 minutes and no sign of staff members i decided to go to the bar to place our order. I ordered 3 meals, 2 waters and a soda. I made it very clear when ordering what we wanted and all seemed fine so i paid the bill and returned to the table. The food came out in a good time but only two meals arrived so i thought i would wait as maybe should couldn't carry all 3 at once or it was the last to come out so i was happy to wait. I waited 10 minutes and still nothing came out and by this point my partner and son where almost finished eating so i went back to the bar and asked where my meal was and the girl said she thought she put mine through the system but upon checking she only put through 2 of the meals and missed mine. So she put in my missing meal into the system and then asked me for payment for the 3rd meal, by this point i was really wanted to just leave but im pregnant and was starving after a long shift at work so i went back to the table to get my card and returned to pay which on its own was not great when i just wanted to sit down not run back and forth to the bar to sort out my order. I paid for my 3rd meal which came out quickly but i was very upset by the service how there was no real apology considering i had to eat separate from my family. There was no form of compensation for the overall lack of customer service you would have thought considering we were the only 3 people eating at the time they would have got our order correct and even if they didn't i would have hoped the staff would have been competent enough to understand the simple gesture of a complimentary meal or dessert in a situation like this. I can happily say we will not be returning to the old swan again.

Great service, great choice and good value. Works really well for both a family meal and an adults drinking group. We went on a Bank Holiday Monday, super atmosphere and made to feel most welcome. Dog friendly too.

Like walking into Battersea dogs home dogs barking like to have a quiet eat and drink all you heard was dog's barking cheap wine and the roast dinner was the worst I've had I don't think I'll be going back.

I have frequented this establishment multiple times since the easing of restrictions and since the owners have re-done the place it is very nice. The selection of drinks, food on offer is great and value for money too! The outdoor area looks fantastic and I am looking forward to spending a evening or 2 out there when the weather improves!

Always a good meal here, lots of choice, good quality food and great service. I'm slowly working my way through the menu but the garlic mushrooms as a starter are absolutely delicious.
