The Queens Head in Sandwell

Visited for lunch we had the baguettes chicken tikka and jerk chicken. They were perfect and so tasty cooked with fried peppers and onions. Good value and good food can’t be bad. We will be back!

We would like you to thank Anne Marie and her team for everything they have done today to ensure everything went without a hitch. The food was delicious and we would not hesitate to recommend the Queens Head for anyone who is seeking a friendly venue with staff who go over and beyond. First time we have been here in a few years, our last experience wasn't the best so we never returned...until today. We were greeted by a lovely young man who was very warm and welcoming and after looking at the menu decided on the special for today, the lovely lady who we presume is the landlady/chef told us there would be a half hour wait as everything is cooked from fresh, as we were picking our son up from school an hour or so after this would have been to long a wait, she then came up with a solution which worked for us and tweaked the meal. We were very happy with our meals, fresh, cooked to order and a delicious side salad and coleslaw that is to die for! We will definitely be returning! Lovely place, lovely staff and in our opinion bostin food and drink!

Just awful. Bar staff completely unprofessional, kitchen staff look untidy - if I had seen the kitchen staff before ordering, I wouldn’t have eaten. I know kitchens are messy places, but what I saw was terrible. Mangeress was unfriendly and couldn’t care for criticism, only bothered with those that fed her and ego. Menu is advertised as “new and improved”, yet nothing has improved, and they are using photos of food from when Julie and Ian ran the pub. Why do the chips look different on the photos? Oh! Because they use frozen ones now rather than making them their self. And brioche buns for the burgers? No. Frozen sesame seed ones that the burgers don’t fit on. What was once a lovely pub with great owners and fantastic staff has been downtrodden to match the likes of Wetherspoons. Roll on the next landlords and managers who can actually make this place the pub it used to, and should, be.

Review for our baby shower 6th April 2024. Firstly, i’d like to start off with the positives. The room was decorated lovely & Mel Occasions Perfected Balloons was part of making our room look stunning. The decorations and how it was done I could not fault. Onto the food, we were provided with a list prior to our baby shower taking place which was made to sound absolutely beautiful. We paid £40 deposit, £110 for food and then an additional £35 for desserts. My advice - do not bother! We were told the food would serve up to 40 people which wouldn’t feed half, the list included : - chicken wings - pizza - cheese sandwiches - tuna crunch baguettes - egg mayo sandwiches - ham sandwiches - quiche - pork pie - scotch eggs - salad - sausage rolls - cocktail sausages - pickles However, to our disappointment did not include the half of it. We did not get pizza, chicken wings, egg mayo sandwiches, we got tuna sandwiches instead of tuna crunch baguettes nor cocktail sausages. Instead, a handful of chicken nuggets? Onto the desserts, the extra £35 we spent on them as we were told we couldn’t provide our own. Was supposed to include : - chocolate bites - chocolate covered strawberries - brownie bites - mixed white chocolate and milk chocolate cookies On the table we were presented with 2 smallest serving trays you could possibly find in Asda. On the trays were some unappealing covered strawberries - which weren’t eaten, a handful of brownies and a handful of rocky road. Again, half of the list not provided. We said on the day we were not happy with the food and desserts provided and addressed this to the owner of the pub. In which she responded she would take it higher. We have been away the past week, in which we’ve received no message / resolution to this matter. We’ve addressed today and got the following responses - ‘you got what you paid for’ ‘we had to pay staff on the day’ ‘nothing can be done as it weren’t mentioned on the day’ - even though it was. ‘You took the serving trays home which aren’t cheap’. I am disgusted. Would not recommend having a baby shower or any kind of gathering/due here as the staff/management are more concerned about money by the sounds of it. Not to mention the fact everyone that came and spent money on drinks - some of that money is profitable. £400 overall spent on 4 hours, they wouldn’t have made half of it if they were open for lunch!

Disgusting established with rude management who sent abuse over Facebook and messages including calling my 35 week prgenant girlfiend " a cheep bitch" Me and my partner held a baby shower here and were promised items which we didn't recive. Pints that tasted stale. No coke and staff that didn't have a clue what they were doing. When questioned they didn't care and became abusive. You'll be pleased if you come here with low expectations anything more you'll be just as annoyed as we are. Full of drug taking people and the staff are no better they treat it like a doss house. Businesses like this deserve to be closed and the owners never allowed to run anything again. As for the abuse you should be ashamed sending abusive messages to pregnant woman because you can't take criticism. You're a business and should expect criticism especially when people are promised things for a price and you cut corners every place possible. Karma will catch up with you and how you run your business and treat playing customers.

Sunday lunch is gorgeous here. Freshly cooked and very tasty. Annie’s specials are also really good value and reasonably priced.

I really like this place. It has a good vibe and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are always incredibly friendly and the place is very well-maintained. The food is also very affordable and always satisfying. The only drawback is that it seems like a lottery as to whether or not food will be available on a given day. Despite that, l highly recommend this venue.

We had a 70th birthday for my father in law. It was just for close family so the venue was a perfect size. The land lady and staff done a fantastic job. The land lady asked what our preferences were for the food and music, she went above and beyond for the requests! On the day we could decorate the room before the pub was open. The buffet came out with a lovely selection of food and there was more than enough for us. We even had some hot food, which was a lovely surprise! Any spare food left she wrapped this up so we were able to take home. It was a lovely afternoon and the father in law and all the family, really enjoyed the afternoon. Thank you to all the staff who worked really hard . Would fully recommend people having small events here!

My family and I have used the queens head for many years now. This is a lovely local pub. We are always made to feel welcome. We recently attended the peaky blinders fund raising night and had a fab time. The music and food were great. My daughter who is 10 had four bowls of curry. I would recommend this pub. Just been for lunch at the queens head . I visited here few weeks ago in the evening and it was lovely, so today I was expecting some nice food again , and they delivered 👌it was tasty,hot, and plentiful (made a right pig of myself) I can definitely recommend it , couldn’t believe how cheap it was £11 for chilli ,rice ,nachos and chips , superb well done to the pleasant staff who served us , expect a return visit .

had a party held here, would not recommend. The buffet had limited items even after paying extra from the price asked, there was no range of food, just the basic sandwiches, sausage rolls and crisps, was meant to be for around 30-50 people, definitely would only feed 15-20. During the party we had other members of the public in and out sitting around the room we were in, not to mention how we were only able to decorate an hour prior after agreeing an earlier time and they still had family’s sat eating food. Had many people asking for drug when we entered the toilets, Multiple members of staff following people outside to smoke a simple cigarette, The hygiene was terrible, toilets was covered in feces, No toilet roll because we kept having to ask, before decorating there was food left over the floor. Towards the end of the night there was a man stood up at the bar, i had looked at him a few times and every time he was looking at the kids or women, not even batting an eyelid at anyone else. They also overpriced the drinks during the party as afterwards one of our family members went there again a few days after, and the prices had dropped. I do not recommend having any big special parties here.

Well after a poor meal a few weeks ago it appears the new owners have sadly let this little gem go down hill. Sandwell council inspected the pub in March 2022 and rated as a 2 with improvements necessary.

Just had a meal at the Queens Head in Wednesbury and I can not speak highly enough about it. The food was excellent (we had steaks) the place and staff were 1st class. The pub is run very well and they are very Covid aware and all the rules are in place. Everything was perfect clean and nice and the pub has a nice friendly feel.

We have been using this venue for a long time. We want to share our observations with everyone...At all times the staff are courteous, friendly and professional. The social distancing procedures have been followed to the letter making us feel safe and comfortable. We witnessed an extremely rude customer who felt he and his family didn't have to follow the pub rules. We can truly say the Julie and her staff dealt with the situation in an excellent manner and did not deserve the abuse they received. As customers we appreciate the time, effort, attitude and attributes displayed by this amazing team. If we could give 6 stars we would ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We've tried a few times to book for a Sunday lunch without success as they book up early but managed by chance for today, we had the 3 course Sunday set menu which had plenty of choice, I had seen by the reviews everyone rated the food but couldn't wait to try for ourselves, what to say but amazing, the broccoli/stilton soup was delish, and the Sunday lunch was the best we have ever had out, it was fresh, hot, tasty and plentiful, the cheesecake was AMAZING, the staff were very helpful, polite and warming, great job to all, we will 100% be back again but will make sure I get the booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

We just visited The Queens Head after hearing such good things. Although we didn’t book, the lady who looked after us found us a table in the corner for two. We came over from Halesowen too so we’re really happy. The staff are lovely and were really helpful. As we sat looking at the menu the food coming out looked amazing and we were spoilt for choice. We had a couple of starters and the Lamb Kebab and black and blue burger. Freshly cooked food and brilliant portions. We were really impressed and are already planning our next visit. Even bumped into a couple of friends from Yew Tree. Top notch

Had a lovely Christmas lunch with my friend on Thursday 19th Dec here, a fair few in....Only waited 10 mins before being asked if we would like our meal. When it came out it was piping hot very well presented and fresh veg where put on table aswell as roasted parsnips, asked for cranberry aswell as mustard.....nothing was too muchHad to wait about 20 mins for cheese & crackers (our choice from 3-4 things)!Everything was perfect even crackers sat upon table awaiting to be pulled. Service was friendly and great....our second year visiting....would recommend it,but you need to book early think it was end of November we booked. Two courses £14.95 and WELL WORTH IT

We were on our way to Manchester, got caught in the black friday traffic so decided to come off at Wednesbury. We popped in to the Queens Head for food and drinks. Have to say the staff and food were fantastic - highly recommend it - It was a great little pit stop

For a lunch time on a Friday, it was remarkably quiet. The lounge was clean and tidy and the staff were welcoming, soon taking our order and delivering our drinks to the table. Hubby ordered a steak, well cooked, from the steak board, and I had gammon and pineapple. Peas and chips were included on both dishes, and hubby’s also had mushrooms, a fried egg and crispy fried onion strings. All were delicious. If I had a tiny criticism it would be to widen the choice of vegetarian meals - cod, scampi and tuna are there, but maybe a vegetable lasagna as well as the normal beef one. All in all an excellent meal.

Booked a table here after being recommended by my sister. We were not disappointed. I had the rib eye and my wife had the triple stack steak. We both asked for it to be cooked medium. The steaks were juicy and succulent, with enough double cooked chips. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The prices were very reasonable also. My wife and I both said it was better than Miller and Carter, and half the price. Will def be going again. Must book a table as it is a very sort after restaurant.

While waiting for my car to come out of the garage, I stumbled upon this place. My first visit went very well. Lovely staff - very friendly and attentive. They even lent me a charger upon hearing mine was low. It’s recently had a revamp so it’s building and interiors are clean and smart. The menu boasts fresh, home cooked pub food. I have eaten the Malaysian chicken and rice bowl to start and then the 10oz ribeye for main. Both courses were delicious! I would recommend this venue

Had a great bank holiday visit to the Queens Head, my partner is local, but I’m not, however the welcome during a busy time was warm & genuine. Great beers & a lively dance at the end on Sunday was brilliant. The landlord, landlady & all the staff are so friendly & accommodating, nothing seemed too much. Can’t wait to go back again. We've liked the Queens Head for ages since the most recent owners took over and before today both the food and service were great. But if today had been my first visit I would be very disappointed by both the attitude of the staff and the food at the pub. The pub was steady-busy for a Bank Holiday and we were made to feel like an inconvenience for requesting food. I persevered and said we didn't mind waiting (we were only ordering food from the Garden menu) but then our "baguettes" appeared as small sandwiches and the service didn't get any cheerier. I understand working in a pub/restaurant can be stressful on BHs, I've worked in enough pubs myself, but it was by no means overly busy today. It's such a shame as I was previously a fan of this place.

Got to choose my steak and it was one of the best tasting steaks ive ever had and cook to my request. Highly recommend. Wife had koftas and again superb meal. Staff very atentive and welcoming. We will return.....

Went with a girlfriend on our 1st visit .We were impressed !The food and staff were very good.In fact we couldn't finish the mains and didn't get a dessert as we were too full .We both had skewer meals mine was the lamb and friend had steak and mushroom one .We will be back!

5 weeks of cash in hand trial shifts(3 shifts a week).

Ate here with my husband and mother in law. We order 3 rib eye steaks, every one of them was severely undercooked. I've known there be maybe 1 steak that is off on its cooking- but never all steaks for the same table. This is meant to be a pub that specialises in steak, which it definitely doesn't.

Really hungry after work, decided to walk into town and get something to eat, the pub was empty, asked for a table and the bar staff informed us they were fully booked. Gutted, we just ordered a drink, sat for around an hour and the pub was still dead, will never go again.
