Lovely pub, very popular with locals, but treats visitors warmly. Good fire place too

Very quiet pub with a subdued atmosphere but the beer is excellent. I had the Crouch Vale Anchor Street Porter which was very tasty. Pleasant enough pub to visit but the serving staff were more on the business-like side rather than the conversational side. Handy place to go for a pint if you are at the County Ground for Essex cricket but note that no food is served.

Usually pretty much like a graveyard with a limited selection on. BUT beer is always very good and a nice layout and fire inside. Good if you want a quiet one

Deceptively big on the inside . Looking from outside you would expect it to be cramped, but there is a large conservatory on the back . Nice log fire going on our visit, not very busy and only one hand pull on ! .Think they had some others, probably craft. These were advertised on boards on the wall .Staff were welcoming and would happily revisit the pub.

The pub has excellent real ales, however, there's no ambiance or character to the place and definitely needs a refurb. The manager is somewhat to be desired, at best he's grumpy and at worst he's just rude and offensive. Other members of staff aren't that much better. If you want a decent ale in a decent real ale pub give Queens Head a miss and try The Orange Tree which is a 45 second walk away. It explains why Queens head is like graveyard most nights, Crouch Vale Brewery time you got yourself a new pub manager.

Friendly and relaxed old school pub environment. It is a quiet pub so great for groups of friends for catch up talks. They sell a variety of well kept ales including Brewers Gold and Yakima Gold. They sell a large variety of pub snacks with at least 9 different flavours of crisps, twiglets, mini cheddars, pork scratchings, various nut snacks and even some kind of dried beef snack. There is a large car park to the rear of the pub also.

Used to be a good pub, but now looking a bit scruffy and jaded. The saving grace is the usual excellent range of real ales that are well kept.

Good pub to go to when going to Essex cricket It's close to the ground, staff are friendly and has a reasonable selection of real ales. For cricket fans there is a lot of cricket memorabilia on the walls.

I hired this pub for the wake of my mother, I requested for the food buffet to be laid out for when we got there at 2 '0' clock, I asked the landlord where the food was on arrival at 2:30 and was rudely told we'll have to wait til he's ready! I paid £175 for the buffet and was disappointed when we were served Icelands frozen food. I also had put £100 behind the bar to get my guests their first drink, my niece over heard the staff saying that I could have put a bit more. I didn't have a lot of money to bury my mother and did the best I could with what money I had, a few members of my family mentioned being spoken to quite rudely by staff, I'm very upset by how myself and my family who had flown from Ireland were spoken to at such a sad time. The landlord is an arrogant arsehole and it's no wonder he never has any customers!! The pig!!
