Great service, but it needs more staff. Poor staff members are non-stop

It's loud, the staff mumble, one is chewing gum. The coffee is pretty bad, the milk is over boiled and isn't as Costa would normally have it. I would avoid this one like the plague.

First of all quick service. It’s important for me as I don’t like to wait too much. The ladies behind the till were very nice and friendly. The quality is great but that’s expected. And the atmosphere is the normal costa atmosphere not better or worse.

Lovely Costa on Riverside Chelmsford. Coffee good tea and cakes delicious. But what makes this one stand out is the staff so helpful and cheery make a great atmosphere.

Had a lovely hot chocolate break during our day out yesterday. Very impressed by the size of the large white hot chocolate I had and the whipped cream was a lovely bonus 😋

Both toilets out of order, I thought it was law for places selling hot drinks to provide a WC. They redirect you to Smyth's Toy store WC which is also out of order. McDonald's also closed due to refurbishment.

The first clue was the poor attitude of the staff. It never got better from there on. The food was tasteless, my wife’s frappe was disgusting, and my coffee was decidedly average. I suspect the food could have been stale. Costa have gone right down in my opinion and we are seriously thinking twice about going to another Costa, as this has until now, been our reliable choice.

A functional spot at a prime location. Tried their Christmas menu—medium sticky toffee latte & gingerbread cream lattes were enjoyable, but the food was decent without being exceptional (Tomato & Mozzarella Panini and Pigs & Blankets Toastie). Service was efficient, space was clean, and seating suited most group sizes. At £18.95, it's a fair deal, but nothing stood out to make it a great experience. 4 stars seem fitting for what it offers. More, a stop when there's nothing else to excite you.

We had hot chocolate orange. Tasted lovely was a little bit expensive costing nearly £10 for the 2 drinks.

Only one toilet open and it was in a disgusting state. Water all over the floor, dirty, no toilet paper and bin for sanitary products over flowing. All empty tables needed clearing and cleaning

Called in just before closing tonight and staff were very friendly and ready to serve. I visit a lot of costa stores and this was one of the few that made my coffee extra hot as requested - thank you!

My daughter purchased a sandwich from this Costa. It was the only thing she had eaten that day. It was a roast chicken salad sandwich. She soon became seriously ill and projectile vomited for more than 24 hours. I reported the incident to Costa. They don't care. My daughter is currently in the hospital with chronic food poisoning. Avoid this Branch at all costs, unless you fancy a trip to the hospital.

It's a little dark inside as it's deep from the front. Worse though, is the fact that they have no gluten free savoury snacks or food, and nothing sweet except the standard millionaires shortbread, and flapjack.

Handy location but they are useless in this place, supposed to open at 7, new signage says 8 but they seem to open when they can be bothered to get out of bed. Twice in a month they open up at 8:30 or 9. Whoever runs this franchise location appears useless, replace the staff with reliable staff. Hemerocallis people turning up angry and leaving so plenty of loss of business. Photo for reference is nearly 8:30 when they open at 8 apparently.

Nice atmosphere and a big store, but the new Ultimate Blend is probably the worst milk alternative I’ve ever had :(

I am a big costa fan and have been for the last 18 months in Chelmsford. Easy to get to one of their outlets and the staff are always kind and courteous. Thank you team costa Only reason for 4 stars us you took Way my mini costa option which I loved

Nice Costa. Staff generally friendly, patient, professional. (Abrupt and inattentive sometimes - this morning for instance.) Seating is varied, but it can fill up ... Feel there could be more tables for 1 or 2. Never had any issues with the coffee. The couple of toilets are in demand but I've not ever seen them in a poor state. Always thought the snacks are poor value, but that's Costa for you.

It's better than the one in town,but don't park in the retail park unless you fancy a massive queue to leave asthenia traffic is a nightmare.

The sitting area is spacious, it will be able to enter comfortably with a stroller. fast service. My favorite coffee is gingerbread latte 👍

Lovely team and service always really good

Went in at the end of the night and ordered the Terry’s chocolate orange hot chocolate. It was delicious and the staff member who made it went above and beyond and was really lovely! Forgot to get her name or i would include it in the review haha :)

Just this second came out of Costa Riverside. Not busy at all and the service from both young ladies were just rude. First one taken my order completely ignored me the second basically threw my coffee at me with a there you go!!!. No customer service at all!

Manager is very rude and unwelcoming. Mitch is such a legend though<3

My first visit to this branch. Very efficient counter staff. Drinks were ready as soon as we had paid. Thats a first in my experience. The lemon muffin was yummy.

Not the best of venues at lunchtime for a catchup with a friend you haven't seen for years. It was very noisy,there was a group of workers ot students behind us and they were having very a loud conversation between them. It was much calmer after they finished and left the cafe. The coffee and tea cake we had was nice. Service was quite slow. I had to tell one of the assistants about the sad state of the toilet I used. Looked as though it hadnt been cleaned that day. Would not rush back.

Despite being extremely busy the staff were quick and efficient and friendly Tables were cleared and cleaned quickly Unfortunately only one toilet working ,the broken one was the very important disabled toilet 😔 Just wish there were a few more signs encouraging the wearing of facemasks ,know it's not compulsory but when queuing everyone was very close together

Very rude staff . I took a lid for my takeaway to put it myself on the cup and the server argued that she has to put it herself on my cup , I said I’m ok to do it myself as don’t want some who handles multiple surfaces to touch something where I put my lips and mouth especially during this whole COVID situation, but she insisted with a very rude attitude towards me and her colleague came into her help with the same disrespectful tone . I don’t think they’re place is in an environment that deals with customers with different needs

Every Saturday I try and go to Costa at Riverside retail park but it's getting ridiculous now. They close at 5pm yet ovens off at 4:35. I ran the other day to get there by 4:35 and the food all covered up and ovens off. Plenty of staff. No China and only paper cups time and time again at that time. I feel if everything shut down and not doing hot food; serving cakes or using China that you change closing time to 4:30. I watch as so many customers turned away before 5pm but you advertise 5pm finish.

Polite staff clean and tidy quick service

I visit here regularly for my boss but am often disappointed. Mostly it is the speed of service which is terrible early morning. However, when there is no queue at all the barista still burns mine and my boss' drinks, the quality wasnt the best on those occasions. There is frequently not enough staff to cover the early morning shift. I have overheard staff complaining about having to process app or deliveroo type orders as they often dont have a full range of stock due to fridge sizes. Frustrating as this is, it is my commute. Some days the service is fine.

Usual Costa, plenty of seating inside and out.

Not the best experience, their app wasn't working (30% off using app) and they couldn't honour the discount in store even though the app not working is their fault ! Anyway I tried the Terry's orange hot chocolate... Barely hot, not chocolatey enough, and they didn't give me the segment of orange choccy with it or the marshmallow I paid for !

Nice clean branch, and good coffee, but was very hot. Cups used to be well insulated from heat but seem to be getting thinner!

Visited for a short coffee break with friends. Ordered Hot Chocolate, Vanilla Latte with Oat Milk, Mini Flat White with Short Bread.. Enjoyed a lot

Very good COVID safety, but l think having to scan the QR code on your phone before you order would be a better idea than relying on the honesty and community spirit of customers, once you have sat down. If you don't want to scan - don't go in ! Simples !! Very pleasant staff and it was lovely and cool and quiet (e.g. no noisy kids) haha !!

Always enjoy a latte here. Staff friendly and helpful. Wish costas had a choice of gluten free cakes, instead of the pre-wrapped over priced snacks on offer. Come on Costa be the first coffee chain to do it, please.

Upstairs in Next, much quieter and relaxed than other Costas I've been to and hardly any kids😂🤣

Not for us. Very expensive weak so called coffee. The so called cakes are very small and again expensive. I had a toasted sandwich which was only toasted on one side. Many of the tables were still full of the prevoius customers cutlery. They also seem to serve you even when the place is full. Will not be going to any more Costa's ever. Poor coffee and over expensive.

Love a costa, service is always slow but service worth the wait. Personally I'd invest in two machines then waiting time will be less.

Lovely staff,but not enough off them for a very busy location !!! So busy at counter tables not cleared. With so few of them nothing was happening in the customer seating area. Costa need to employ more staff for busy hot spots .spoils the experience . Customers right back to door. Felt sorry for staff trying to keep up with orders.

Need more staff to clean tables

Nice place to have coffee and also other nice shops on this estate. Dont stay too long though as I got a parking ticket due going over 2 hrs. Was not happy with that considering spent nearly £150 from different shops. I will be thinking twice about going back.

Costa have slowly improved over the years we have been going into their establishment s. We much prefer the flavour of their coffees over that of say their rival Starbucks. The ambience of their utlets is nicer too. So much so that we have a coffee machine that makes Costa varieties at home. They are starting to offer more healthier options for food too. I believe they were recently sold off as a chain. Lets hope standards continue to improve and do not slip.

The flat white I had was bland hardly any coffee taste to it. The female behind the counter was as miserable as sin ... And the service was very slow ... compared to a lot of Costa stores I've been in.

We like this Costa branch but a smile from the staff would have been nice!

Walking out of the rain only to find an empty Costa with 5 staff on, all talking and no one cleaning the absolute mess that was on every table. I watched an elderly couple with a young child clean there own table. The lady who served me (Anett, according to the Receipt) just watched while leaning on the counter!!! Dirty toilets, messy tables, staff all talking, I can only assume they just had a very very busy spell of invisible customers ( they was dead when I walked past 20 minutes ago) bad form Costa!!!!!!

I like this coffee shop/ cafe as I can have a cold or hot drink if I want to and the customer service is brilliant here.

Same old store with a queue out the door! Coffee was nice and staff were pleasant.
