Called i one evening before going to theatre just for a drink. Only 2 or 3 others in the bar who clearly had too much of something and language was choice to say the least and went unchallenged by the staff on duty. I will not return.

What a mistake we made ever setting foot in this dreadful place. The interior and exterior are in dire need of a total refurbishment, The manager either needs extensive customer service training or simply should be sacked. His attitude towards us and the only other member of staff (who had started that day) was appalling. We are unable to comment on the food as we never actually set eyes on it. After repeating our order three times and waiting over 45 minutes, we got up and left. Whilst we were refunded for the food, a half decent manager would have apologised and also waived the cost of the drinks. Not so with this joker who had all the management skills of some gangster in a third world country dive. We were sworn at and told to get out - charming! Fortunately we were able to warn off some unsuspecting couple outside who were looking at the menu. There are plenty of nice eateries in Dumfries so our advice is avoid this place like the plague.

Came in with family, took 10mins to order as the "boss" kept blaming a young girl of being new. Drinks came 25mins later while we watched everyone coming in getting fed who were in after us, also watched them getting sent the wrong food and food being sent back. 3 times we were asked what we ordered as they had forgotten. About 40mins after waiting we had enough and said we were leaving, we were refunded only for the food but not the drinks which we thought was unacceptable and when we said that the prat behind the bar gave us cheek and swore at us multiple times saying "Get the f@#k out I don't need your money I already have enough" another table walked out at the same time saying that he was a disgusting person. The new waitress told us she had enough and was quitting after her shift as he was a horrible little man. This dump of a place and prat of a "man" doesn't even deserve the 1 star but wouldn't of got my review in without it. Avoid this place at all costs. Smells, dirty, food is rubbish by the rest of the reviews, extremely slow service and ran by a cheeky, arrogant little man.

Visited this pub on two occasions recently with a friend for a quiet drink.... however on the first visit we were greeted by NO staff. Another customer informed us that we would be served in ten minutes (which we were) but in another establishment as we left. So.... onto the second visit, again walked into an empty pub with again no staff in sight, we waited for five minutes and again decided to leave and take our custom elsewhere. May I also add that the pub looked and smelled like it needed a clean deep clean. No wonder it’s empty, the people/person who own(s) the pub obviously doesn’t care about its customers. Would not recommend.

Stopped off for a quick bite to eat whilst shopping with my friend and her child. Only ordered a tattie scone and egg roll and I can honestly say it was the worst breakfast roll I’ve ever had in my life. The roll was stale and they had obviously tried to toast it to make it seem like it was crispy rather than stale. The only upside of my visit was that the barman was very friendly

I sometimes come in for lunch and I am amazed at how good the food is. It is to die for! Never have I left some food on the plate. The waiting times are very long, but it is a popular restaurant so that is what I expect. Still a shame though. The staff are really nice and helpful, never rude. The prices can be a bit high, so I don't leave with much money left, if there even is money left.

Southern Fried Chicken Wrap. Food was extremely overcooked and was not fresh. Tortilla wrap burnt. Lettuce tasted out of date. Mayonnaise was very bland. Apparently it takes over an hour to prepare this. I would certainly not recommend visiting the Queensberry.

We frequent The Queensbury often as we always enjoyed the menu and food served, but recently the menu has changed and the choice is much more limited and much more costly. The Lasagne was over £8, it was a square of 10cmx10cm, served with half a slice of ciabatta. It was clearly cooked a previous day, kept hot then cooled. It has been reheated and fresh cheese grated on top which was then over cooked. This meal was inedible, burnt on the base and sides by an inch and we could not even get a knife through it. My meal of chilli con carne was better but not as nice as previous ones, it was not hot..only warm. There was no ice for the drinks and only one person serving. I will not be returning.

We visit Dumfries every year for a golfing weekend, and are familiar with most of the pubs. We chose to eat here because we knew that there was a large screen to watch the football. It was a Friday night but even later on there...

Stood at the bar for 15 minutes on a Saturday afternoon waiting on a drink... There was only two people in que however when people walked in the door the barman decided to serve them first as they were clearly friends. I ordered chicken fajitas to start with however the barman lifted his eyes and said ' nope, no chicken' the place was dead how could they run out of chicken?? Ok so I'll have the burrito - wow it was vile... A foiled sausage shape which housed a wrap filled with soggy brown lettace, crunchy rice and a whole raw white onion! It was cold and would literally have enjoyed a plain white onion better. Didn't eat it atal, waiter walked past our empty plates about 5/6 times and 35 mins after finishing he finally took plates away and asked if ok? Stated it was inedible and his response was ' everyone says that , it's not a burrito it's more like a left over wrap' will not be back not even for a drink on a Saturday night

Not many places to eat as a family in Dumfries but this pub serves very well. There is a large seating area away form the bar for families to use so you dont feel like you are eating in a pub.The menu has plenty of choice, usual stuff, nothing outstanding but with prices to match. Portions are huge and served pretty quickly by very friendly helpful staff.

If your call is diverted to a man with a thick, foreign accent and he invites you another hotel, near the station, do not go under any circumstances.

Popped in for breakfast. 1 vegetarian and 1 Scottish. Plenty choices, great portions, tasty maple syrup pancakes and great service. Maybe a bit pricey at almost £20 but the food was good.

Went for Sunday lunch, it was ok. Plates for the carvery dangerously hot, A HAZARD. Meals were ok. Desserts were nice with a teaspoon of custard. The ice cream was sorbet which if we'd known we wouldn't have bothered with. Would probably go back if in area.

Excellent service with you ordering everything from your table which is very convenient. Good choice of food although children’s menu could be better and there were no pizzas which dissapointed our youngest grandchild. We all enjoyed what we ordered and look forward to calling again soon.

This was our first visit to the Anchor and we will definitely be back. The food was tasty and well cooked. The tempura prawns were crisp and sweet and the haggis bon bons were also in a crisp shell. The Highland Game pie was superb with lots of fresh vegetables. The pasta dish was also good. Service throughout was friendly. Next time we would prefer to be in the room with the open fire as the room we were in lacked a little atmosphere. All in all a successful evening.
