The Quayside At Glasson Dock in Lancaster

Wonderfully warm welcome, great service, friendly staff, excellent value for money, and a range of gf options second to none! Highly unusually, the gf cake options extended to more than just the boring customary 'chocolate brownie'! Imaginative and delicious alternatives abounded, which afforded a very pleasant surprise and experience. On a freezing cold, rainy, and dismal day, the Quayside Café came to our rescue and made our day. Very highly recommended indeed. Glasson Dock is grand for a stroll and a day by the sea and marina and canal, but alow yourself time for a visit here!

I asked if they did toasties as they were not on the menu, they said they could do so I ordered a ham, cheese, mushroom and onion, my favourite. I expected a standard toasted sandwich but received an open style on a sub with a side salad, some crisps and salsa! It was delicious, I was impressed as they thought outside the box and created an impressive dish! I hope they add it to the menu, they would sell like hot cakes! (Toasties!) Well done all, can’t wait for the next time! 👍😁👌

What a fantastic place. This cafe is buzzing, led by a dynamic lady (owner?), who combines a great welcome with ruthless efficiency. We creaked in after cycling over the Forest of Bowland, rather worn. We were warmed, fed and felt we could stay as long as we wanted. A couple next to us only wanted drinks which wasn't a problem and ended up with cake, which we felt compelled to copy. The jacket potato and hot beef sandwich were delicious, though gravy within a "barm" was a little peculiar to non-northern tastes!

Everything you want from a local cafe: good food, lovely staff and an excellent atmosphere. They gave our dog some leftover sausages, my little daughter got given a small bowl of fruit and the staff was very attentive. Definitely recommend.

Lovely cafe set by the lock at Glasson Dock. Very friendly and helpful staff, not an overly large venue, but was able to accommodate wheelchair access. Tables outside, so would be lovely in warm weather. Good selection of menu choices and at reasonable prices. Toilet facilities available.

We hadn’t eaten in here since 2018 and on subsequent visits to Glasson have dined “al fresco” from the van as we didn’t think the vibe in here was particularly nice last time. What an improvement. Professional and enthusiastic service. It was chilly outside and the Quayside gave us a warm welcome in more ways than one! There were several breakfast options available and me being rather partial to the biggest thing available - chose that! Everything on the plate was lovely but the bacon and sausages in particular were top quality. Glasson was quite quiet so we had a leisurely time in here which gave us the opportunity to benefit from the hot drink refills. Clean - with decent loos. Will definitely head in here (if we can) during our next visit to Glasson Dock! Bravo.

Last here in 2021 time flies by lovely lady's running this only had soup though will be back! Absolutely fine and nice tea to wash down all the meals coming out looked appetising and fresh

Very busy cafe good menu selection great cakes etc friendly and helpful staff they are also dog friendly will use again when next in the area.

Great fish and chips and probably the best value gin and tonic in the UK! Cosy cafe with attentive service. The desserts looked fabulous but so was the calorie count! Purchased local bakery produce.

Was thoroughly impressed with this little cafe. Saw the cakes advertised on Facebook and decided to pay a visit to Glasson Dock with my other half, with a view to having a brew and cake whilst there. It’s rather deceiving from outside, as it doesn’t look that modern, but once inside, it’s a lovely contemporary interior. It was quite busy when we went in, but the friendly and attentive staff quickly sorted out a table for the two of us. We were served promptly and decided to have a BLT each and a pot of tea for 2. When our food arrived, we were pleasantly surprised: a lovely warm, toasted sandwich with thick sliced bacon, accompanying side salad, crisps and relish all served on a platter. It really was delicious and worth every penny. My other half was suitably impressed too! It really is a little gem and we said we would definitely return again, perhaps in the summer (as there are outside tables too). I would definitely recommend this little cafe, I think it could be my new favourite place to eat!

Wonderfully tasty food - best fish and chips I have eaten for a long time - plus friendly service and a good location. We had a long leisurely lunch with friends and were made to feel very welcome throughout the time we spent there. Good walk options nearby.

Lovely little place with great food, hot chocolate and coffee, perfect to warm up and have a lunch/coffee after a walk. The cakes also looked lovely but we didn't have space to try them as well.

This is my third time visiting & it’s really lovely. The food is delicious & the staff are so very warm & welcoming. The only downside for me personally is allowing dogs inside. There was a dog who wouldn’t stop barking & another that smelled terrible & slobbered all over the floor. It did put me off I’m sorry to say. However, I will return in the future but will stay outside in the lovely seating area they have.

Brilliant! I ordered the large english breakfast with a cappuccino. Scrambled egg cooked perfectly along with everything else. Service was rapid, staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. They give dog owners a complimentary plate of sausage/bacon for their dogs which is a very nice touch. Top rating is well deserved 👌🏽

Wonderful breakfast, full English for me, bacon cob for the wife and egg on toast for the boy. Took some cakes home with us and then got directions to lighthouse. Will definitely be visiting again when up here.

We were looking for a cafe before our walk and found here. Wonderful warm friendly welcome even though it was very busy. Polite and chatty servers. Totally clean and cared for and cosy. The food coming out of the kitchen all looked fantastic so it was tricky to choose. The coffees were beautiful and so well presented. Our food was delicious! Really unexpected and so well presented like a restaurant. My husband had the potato cake stack which was incredible. Worth travelling out there just for the food ! And so reasonably priced.

The Quayside is in the heart of Glasson Dock village, at one end of the walking/cycle path from Lancaster and the Lune Valley. It is a favourite cycling destination for us, with outside and inside seating, friendly service and delicious food. They serve a range of breakfast-type dishes, fish and chips, baked potatoes, quiches and soups, with a huge range of desserts and cakes. All home cooked from locally sourced ingredients. The eggs royale, with local smoked salmon, (smokehouse is around the corner) is highly recommended. They also serve wines and locally brewed beer. This is a very popular venue, and it is clear why.

Very nice food. The younger waiting staff were superb but the older staff didnt seem very attentive and unaware of customers that were clearly wanting to order desserts. My wife had to go up and approach her in the end!

My husband and I and our little cocker spaniel Deacon have just had the best fish and chips and homemade tartar sauce and homemade mushy peas, the fish was beautiful not too much batter! The service is brilliant and they just love dogs, Deacon being treated to a sausage which he loved! It was a perfect evening sat outside in the sunshine. We will definitely be returning. Thank you!!

I've been to this cafe on a few occasions and have always found the food average. It wasn't poor enough to rate a bad review, so I've left it alone. However, on a few occasions I've gone there for a couple of fruit trees with my brothers. The tea, at £3.20 per person, was a bit dear, but it came in glass teapots which held a couple of cups, and we were happy to pay for it. Last week we called in and asked for the same. When the tea arrived it was in a small beaker with about six fluid ounces of hot water and a teabag. I even asked the server about the teapots and I was told that they no longer served in this manner because it saved money on washing up! The tea is still the same price. We left feeling a little, well, ripped off, to be honest. I used to run a tearoom and I understand the need to make money, but never took customers for fools.

Excellent service, food was really good, dog friendly, staff brilliant and very friendly and efficient, service with a smile, called in on the off chance, will definitely be going again for lunch

What an amazing place this cafe is.....we stopped for lunch, had brilliant food, really great coffee and were made to feel so welcome by one of the owners. There is lots of choice on the menu and lots of vege options too. The place is a real credit.....we'll definitely be back very soon.

What am amazing find. An amazing breakfast and a cream tea. All the dishes looked amazing and they also have a large selection of home made cakes. Nina and the staff are so friendly too. So good we went back the next day!!

My wife and I went for a late breakfast (served until 12). It was really tasty. The lunch menu was being served while we were eating and there were some amazing looking dishes. It looks like your typical cafe on the outside but give it a try. It absolutely deserves all the 5 star reviews.

Went for breakfast for the first time after reading reviews. Can’t recommend this place enough. Fry up was huge and so tasty. The service was fantastic too. I’ll be bringing my husband soon.

Tidy, clean little cafe. Handy being next to the docks aswell. Being able to have a nice walk and then sit down for a bite and drink was nice. Has guest WiFi which is handy and saw someone put a phone onto charge which is always appreciated in this day and age. Definitely recommend.

Had a lovely tuna sandwich which came with a side salad & crisps along with a bacon barm. We also had an iced latte which was delicious. The place was run by two lovely ladies who gave our 2 dogs some sausage, gratis.....Bonnie & Clyde thoroughly recommend the sausages too 🐕🐕🌭

Turn up at all sorts of times and they make me a sandwich fresh to order. The coffee is very nice which is why I go and also I always end up chatting to someone sitting under the cover. Great place

We have dined here multiple times and every-time we are blown away by the amazing food and extremely friendly service. We bring our lively boxer dogs on a regular basis and the staff are as friendly and accommodating as always (they even offer free sausages and bacon and we are now regulars!!). I would recommend The Quayside to anyone looking fresh food that is superbly cooked and great value for money!

First time I've eaten here. Stopped as part of an early morning ride out. Had the regular Full English.. Food and service were excellent. Quality of the food was top notch....would definitely call again. Highly recommend it.

Been going here for many years. Sometimes to try to sort my head out - usually in the early hours and many others just to call in for a visit or to take Post-Test Trainees on a specific training route for their lunch. This visit was particularly nice, with the woman serving us for lunch. I had a great time with the banter between us 😂 The food AS ALWAYS was brilliant, the staff second-to-none and the atmosphere with the views of the Dock and estuary - priceless. All-in-all, a brilliant experience and well worth the visit 😉

Lots to see and do here I loved it

I've been using this place for lunch over many years, for Motorcycle Instruction. There have been different owners and the Café has had different names. However the food is always good, the service brilliant, great views and a nice 'feel' to it. I'll be returning soon with another Trainee needing sustainance.

Lovely meal! Very generous portions. So busy!! It was lovely to see a local business thriving.

Popped in this morning whilst cycling in quite a large group. The cafe was quite busy and there was limited seating inside but we all managed to squeeze in or sit outside. Service was exemplary as once realised we were a "group" we had our orders taken at our tables. I ordered scrambled eggs on toast and a coffee. Service was very efficient and although the coffee machine had died food and drinks arrived in good time. Although they apologised for the drink delay there was no need. Oh and the scrambled eggs and toast was fabulous, easily the best I've ever had anywhere. Brilliant.

Just called in for a coffee + they gave Rosie a sausage. She was well chuffed.

My wife and I popped in for fish and chips for ourselves and cheeseburger for the kids. The staff were lovely and happy to prepare the food even though we had arrived unknowingly nearly an hour before food service should have been available (as advertised we just hasn't realised). The food was delicious, none of that greasy over cooked fish, proper crispy batter and beautifully cooked. The burgers, home made and excellent, were equally as delicious. Can't fault The Quayside. Thoroughly recommended.

First time but have been to Glasson many times, we thought we would try the cafe so glad we did the best ever cheese and onion pie, food was brilliant will def be going again.
