Walked round Minehead and found all the pubs around the main High street very rowdy with doormen. So we walked around towards the harbour and found The Quay Inn, we were made really welcome, dog friendly, local beers and a great selection of home made food. Had the gammon, egg n chips which was excellent value and easy. Definitely would go back.

It said on the website that you are dog friendly. My family and our dog arrived on bank holiday Monday 28/5/24. For a meal. We were trying to find a seat in your beer garden when out of nowhere came a rottweiler and started to attack our dog.. I picked up our dog but the rottweiler was jumping up trying to get at our dog. Luckily I was able to get away and leave your premises.

Came to this pub to get lunch to what is advertised as a dog friendly pub. As soon as we arrived to the beer garden a huge aggressive rottweiler came down some steps and tried to attack our dog. The owner had no control of it and it continued to try to get my dog who had been picked up and grap at my husbands clothes. The owner was hitting it with a lead to try to get it to back off! I strongly advise avoiding this place if you have a dog.

This was not our first choice, but Foxes Hotel was closed for a private function; so we kept walking down the Esplanade to this establishment. The table we chose was dirty, even though nobody else was in the dining area and not busy in the bar; so not like they were overwhelmed. I should’ve taken that as foreshadowing, but my disabled daughter and I stayed and the table was cleaned promptly. When I went to order food, landlady said she was going to give the order to the kitchen, and then would take the drink order from our table. I thought that was strange, but went back to table. She came and got me to return to bar to order drinks and pay. I told her I thought she said she would take our drinks order from the table, but perhaps I misheard or she misspoke. Instead of being a mature adult and apologising for the misunderstanding, she rudely insisted she never said that, twice. Another indicator we should’ve left. Food came out incredibly fast, which is not indicative of fresh and well prepared food. It was edible, but not particularly good. I ordered a side salad, but the appetisers came with salad, which she could’ve told me when ordering. When clearing the table, she asked if everything was ok, and I said the squid wasn’t prepared properly, and the chewy inedible membrane wasn’t removed. Again, instead of being a mature adult and apologising that we didn’t enjoy it, she got chippy and said it’s squid and not calamari, implying that’s normal. I let her know I’ve prepared squid many times, and I know it should be removed (although many places don’t prepare it properly, to be fair). She said we’re obviously not going to agree. That’s true! Really, there are so many good places to eat in Minehead, you don’t need to go there. * I’m adding an edit now, as I see the landlady has replied. As expected, confrontational and rude, not apologetic that we had a bad experience. We only ordered appetisers, chips, and salad for lunch; so not surprising we cleared plates (except for the uneaten squid membrane🤢). As a graduate of Foxes, my daughter actually wanted to leave when she saw the dirty tables; but I persuaded her to give them a chance. I see the place is for sale, and look forward to returning when under new management.

Some bass noise heard until midnight at the weekend from Butlins. Breakfast was Delicious, every ingredient (apart from the black pudding, I don't partake) was of the best quality, tasty and looked great on the plate, it was just luke warm due to the thick heavy plate though. Tea's & Coffee's were spot on. The room was clean & tidy. Could have done with a Chair though. Great that the dogs were wellcome (had to pay extra), which would put me off staying again, as our dogs don't shed & have crates to rest in. Location = opposite the Seafront. This pub was a convenient place when in the area for an early tea, when there were little other places to eat around. Although the service was efficient, and staff friendly and helpful (the chef was very kind in checking if I was vegan /vegetarian and accommodated me with ease with the extra bits on the burger) however the food was nothing spectacular worth rushing back for but simple pub grub that did the job. The menu had a range of foods on the board, although limited for vegetarians, and there was a specials board worth checking out too. We had the vegan burger with chips and salad and the specials hot dogs, both of which were plentiful portions and served fresh and hot. We noted this pub had been shown on tv ‘4 in a bed’ programme. The pub seemed quiet when we arrived and customers appeared to be local or staying in the hotel.

I wrote on Google too, but I am still feeling angry about my experience here! Me and my friend visited Minehead for a weekend away, and saw the sign that said four in a bed winner, and we loooove that show, so we made a point of going there. The guy behind the bar was lovely and answered out questions about being on the show. We got a pint each, and set off to the garden. The guy said can we please bring our glasses back before we go which we thought was perfectly reasonable. We drank our pints in the lovely garden, but we were getting hungry and decided to go back to our Airbnb to get ready for tea. We had a small amount of our pints left, but we had some plastic cups from the nearby cider festival so thought we'd put our remainders in there and head back - we were only staying a road away. We took our glasses back and then headed out the door, but then Colette approached us. Immediately she asked what was in the cups and my friend just said the name of the cider. She then started shouting saying we couldn't take them out there and I would affect her licence etc etc. We tried to calmly explain that that's fine but we aren't from round here so we just didn't know. She then looked me up and down and said 'i don't know what YOU do for a living that makes you think you can come into my pub and try and ruin my livelihood'. I would like this woman to know that I have never worked in a pub, and I have expressed many times that I am in awe of people who can work in hospitality because it would stress me out. However to question my profession and to imply this has made me rude is incredibly upsetting. I am a charity worker and have worked for charity the majority of my adult life. All of this upset could have been avoided if she had just come over with a softer tone. It actually transpired that there was somewhere to sit out the front, so in theory we could have been going to sit out there. We weren't, but we could have been, so really the accusing tone and the shouting was completely inappropriate. We then went outside to finish our pints, and we thought she'd stopped, but then she came out again and shouted that 'you people come here and are so entitled'. I truly don't know what she means by that, holiday makers? In a seaside resort town? The audacity! While we were finishing our drinks my friend saw her peer round at least twice to look at us out the window. Not sure what she was hoping to see, but we were allowed to sit there. From reading other reviews I can only assume she wanted us to run off so she could ring the police on us! Two other notes, the sign out the front outlining their food and a description of their pub has atrocious grammar. Something I would suggest just taking a look at. (I still would have noticed this had we not had such a terrible experience, but I'm pointing it out because of my terrible experience). And there is ashtrays out the front but also big no smoking signs. And I can only imagine the response I would have had a cigarette, would just add fuel to her fire I guess!

We booked very last notice after walking out of Butlins. The room we were given was very spacious and the En suite was also very generous with a huge shower. Both room and bathroom were immaculately clean, the bed was comfortable and we slept really well there was no noise from bar and as the pub itself is off the high street no noise from outside. The Quay inn is an a great location and accessible to town (5-10min walk). The breakfast was off exceptional quality and we didn’t eat again until early evening. The staff are friendly and Collette is an outstanding host, she’s chatty and friendly nothing seemed to much. I would definitely recommend the Quay Inn and we would definitely return.

I was part of the party the landlady said ‘BARKED’ at her 😂 I didn’t, I asked a simple question of ‘excuse me do you have a baby changing room’ to which I was given a sarcastic response of ‘ermmm it’s the door that says baby changing’ I clearly hadn’t seen this door as I had a distressed 1 year old in my arms, a little kindness goes a long way when someone asks a question. Secondly, when I asked what the light bites come with as it wasn’t stated on the menu you looked at me like a piece of s**t saying you want to finish serving this lady first even though she was with me, we had the same question and was ordering together. Again I was greeted with another sarcastic response of ‘no it doesn’t come with chips it’s light bites’ how would I know if it’s not stated on the menu? We are not rude people, we actually visited your establishment by recommendation and walked a couple of miles to dine there, food criticism aside as I believe we have covered the awful excuse of triple cooked chips in a previous review I am disgusted by the attitude of the staff, especially the main lady who clearly thinks she’s always in the right... you really do need to work on your people skills, times are hard for people and treating themselves to lunch is a luxury and to be treated the way we was is just unacceptable. I wish you luck with your business, with the sort of reviews you keep receiving your going to need it.

Very impressed with quality of beer here. Had the best pint of bitter here I've had in a long time (Otter Ale) - so much so I visited several times during a short visit to the town. Food was good and very reasonably prices.

We were looking for somewhere to eat lunch, came across the London Inn and were not disappointed. We had the steak pie with puff pastry lid and we were very satisfied with it. There was lots of filling and the chips and peas made it a memorable meal. Would definitely recommend it.
