Four of us experienced the Quantock Belle dining journey from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead today The whole afternoon was fantastic, the service, the food, the ambience could not be faulted. All the staff except the chef are volunteers and their teamwork was seamless. We were so well looked after and the food was delicious For a special occasion it was excellent value for money

The journey was very slow, two hours to cover 20 odd miles. I don’t know how the cost was split between the railway and the caterers but the overall cost seemed very excessive. The starter was ok as was the roast gammon which was satisfactory with quite small portions ( except the red cabbage which was in abundance but something We don’t eat ). The dessert, a strawberry tartin was awful, in my opinion, and was mostly left with no comment from the staff. The “ continuous tea and coffee promised on the was home became available when we were about 30 minutes from home, we were all gasping. I didn’t feel the trip was wort £75 per person.

Does not disappoint. We tend to go to Augustus for any special occasions through the year. We love the fact that you can get amazing quality food in a relaxed "Bistro Style" setting, the service is excellent but not pretentious. The food and wine is special but at very reasonable prices - the set price menu offers particularly good value and an added bonus is that you can mix and match with the A La Carte. I love the fact that you are served a little bowl of home made roasted seeds to nibble whilst making your choices - they are delicious. Plus you always get a warm bread roll with butter. None of this "sourdough and olive oil" offered and then charged at a ridiculous cost! On this occasion we had Morteau Sausage, Pumpkin soup, John Dory, Pork Steak and I could not resist adding a Floating Island for desert. A lovely bottle of Montepuiciano complimented our meal and the Espresso coffee is excellent. Every dish is expertly crafted, however, if you find yourself undecided you will not be disappointed with the fish option - I have had some wonderful fish here - all, as expected perfectly cooked. We hope to be back before the Christmas rush.
