We had a brilliant meal here. I called ahead and the chef went to the trouble of sourcing a particular cut of meat that wasn't on the menu that night - nothing was too much trouble; delicious and excellent service. An experience worth every penny.

The restaurant’s setting is fantastic, offering a cozy, intimate experience that feels wonderfully unique. The service was exceptional, with staff who were attentive and clearly passionate about making each guest’s experience memorable. The food was freshly prepared and absolutely outstanding, showcasing top-quality ingredients and creative flavors. Each dish felt carefully crafted, and you could tell the kitchen holds itself to very high standards. In my opinion, Podshavers stands out as one of the my favourite restaurants in Somerset.

We arrived at this place bang on 6 as it opened and was greeted by the wonderful staff. Food was to die for! Service was impeccable. Throughout the atmosphere grew and suited the place to a tee. Price point is exactly right for the quality and standard received. Will definitely be back again!

We happened upon Podshavers on our way back from a trip, they managed to fit us in despite being 'full' for Sunday lunch. After only a very brief wait we were seated. We may have been very lucky, but very happy to have been so. A delicious Sunday lunch in a great setting. Highly recommended & if in the area again will definitely book to come back

Gave food 4 stars instead of 5 as the vegetables, particularly the potatoes, were rather under cooked. The loin of pork should have been advertised as served pink but was very courteously rectified upon request. Overall a lovely meal.

Poor for a large group booking - rude management and food average at best. We arrived just before our booking at 4pm, table was not ready and took 45 mins so we had drinks in the nice courtyard area. We sat down, starters were ok but one had a hair in. Waitress said ‘nobody had grey hair’ and dismissed it. Mains came, vegetarian ones were ‘inedible’ and very expensive based on what they were. I asked for pudding, told me she was too busy and would come back. We cancelled them in the end. We complained, asked for some compensation, the manager was incredibly rude, huffing under her breath and terrible at dealing with customers, recommend training. Overall super poor, they said they struggled because the table was big - don’t accept the booking if you can’t handle it!

Exquisite food, friendly hosting and an excellent bottle of wine….what more could you want! From canapés in the courtyard sunshine through three courses of fine dining fabulous cuisine (topped off with a macaron), this was an evening to enjoy and remember. Well done….we will be back!

Visited for Sunday lunch today, and have visited before. Unfortunately only one vegetarian option (oyster mushroom) and the portion size was half that of the beef or belly pork. It is hard to justify the price when leaving hungry. A veggie roast equivalent would have been a preferred option. It is a lovely spot and the staff were very welcoming.

Oh my goodness. What an amazing lunch we had on bank holiday Saturday. I went with family and friends and none of us could get over the flavours of each of our dishes and the obvious care taken to prepare and present. As well as the usual warmest of welcomes and brilliant service there is a new young chef whose creations are simply amazing. Can’t wait to be back! Thank you for such a special time.

Podshaver is a little off the beaten track but well worth the trip The waiting staff are helpful and friendly and the quality of service was very good the restaurant is clean and classy and has a lovely warm atmosphere The star of the show is without doubt the food The quality of the ingredients and the presentation were simply great The flavours were so well defined and well balanced You could literally taste every ingredient and it all worked so well This is in my opinion the best in the area and you have to go a long way to beat it

Lovely building, warm welcome and attentive service. Based on personal taste I enjoyed the big log burner that used to be a focus at the back of the room, especially during the winter. Food was very tasty, though it came out luke warm and went cold very quickly the last time I went (December).

We had a lovely Christmas Eve lunch here. The veggie options were delicious and the lamb shoulder was scrumptious and came with many sides. The staff was kind and the restaurant and surrounding area is gorgeous. Can’t wait to come back.

We booked the chefs table for our Christmas get together, only to find out when we arrived that it’s a table in the restaurant and nowhere near the chef. Apart from the false advertising about the chefs table, food was below average. Advice if not too late. Find another venue

I don't understand why this place isn't really busy all the time. We were recommended this place by a friend. The food was fabulous and the staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wines. I loved the scallops starter and the puddings were also divine. 100% loved this place for dinner.

My French toast was frozen. The front of house staff were on their phone. The staff were all on their phones and were not that rude but just not paying attention.

A Culinary Gem in Taunton - Don't Miss Podshavers! I usually don't do reviews, but after our fantastic Friday night at Podshavers Restaurant, I couldn't help but share this incredible find with everyone. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome by the owner, Jenny, the chef and the service team. The menu at Podshavers is intentionally small, but this is precisely what ensures you get the best experience, whether you're a fish, meat, or vegetarian lover. Each dish is a masterpiece, bursting with flavors, colors, and textures. We all had appetizers and the presentation by the chef was exceptional. Two of us indulged in a perfectly cooked chateaubriand and my husband had the fish – all of which tasted scrumptious. The Cheesecake and Baked Alaska were positively delicious and what truly touched our hearts was the incredible gesture they made when they learned it was my birthday. Jenny and her team went out of their way to create a special dessert just for me, making the evening even more unforgettable. Podshavers Restaurant is a must-visit gem in Taunton! I'm a London gal and used to visiting high end restaurants. This is by far the most excellent establishment for miles. Granted I haven't visited them all but I only visit places that are recommended to me by fellow-foodies so can imagine I've been to most of the best ones. It's a bit off the beaten track but don't let that put you off. Worth sharing a taxi if you all want to drink. This was a treat for my birthday and I refused to go anywhere else.

This was an exceptional meal for a large group family celebration, catering from ages 2 to 83. We were there to celebrate my parents diamond wedding anniversary and quite honestly this was some of the finest food I’ve eaten. We sat at the chef’s table which suited us well. And coming from London/Surrey borders this is the rarest and finest of restaurant finds. Absolutely delicious. From yellow fin tuna tartare to start, to venison haunch with spiced beetroot and sweet potatoes to sesame and dark chocolate tart with sorbet. Just sublime. Seriously this is one of those places you almost don’t want to tell people about because it is just so lovely, but also we want to reflect the high quality and fabulous service we received at Podshavers. What a lovely, lovely place. The courtyard setting and the main restaurant are both fantastic The welcome warm and friendly. The food really excellent and with some of the dishes, really quite dazzling. We - three of us - went for the 'small plates' session, running from around 1.00 on Saturday. We sampled seven of the different dishes on the menu and finished off with three puddings from the a la carte menu. We were advised that the small plates where reasonably substantial and perhaps not to order too many too quickly. But our excitement at the wonderful menu selection led us to go a bit mad. None of us needed dinner that night! Podshavers is about a 15 minute drive from Taunton. A local taxi firm will take you and pick you up if you want to enjoy a few drinks - the owner will advise you which taxi firm to book. Either way this place is well worth the journey out - it really is very special.

We’ve eaten here several times and had always had a fantastic time. The food is wonderful and the service goes above and beyond. I’m a coeliac and the majority of the menu is (or can be) gluten free options and the staff are very knowledgable about allergens. Highly recommended

Outstanding!! Everything about this little Somerset Gem was faultless. The decor was subtle but contempory. The staff were all attentative, friendly, calm and very knowledgeable for menu enquiries but also added a personal touch to conversations for individual tables. Including the chefs who also popped out to serve dishes and we're obviously enthusiastic about their creations in food. I have honestly never tried, nor knew existed, some of the breads served. They were incredible by the way. There is no other way to describe the food other than perfect! The scallops for starter and duck breast for main was perfectly cooked and melted on my tongue. It was like angels dancing in my mouth! Cant wait to take my mum back there again. Thank you to all the staff there. You truly are what makes the restaurant something to return back to again and again.
