Booked in for meal on Sunday 19th jan with a party of 12 at 5.45pm. W all turned up on time. A waiter came and took drinks order which duly arrived 5 mins later. Had bn there around 20 mins when somebody came to take food order. Around 10 mins later the same person came back telling us that most of Sunday men had run out and to pick something off normal menu. The thing is the booking as made ov a week previous and was told we would be eating a Sunday meal. Most of people were not happy about that so we promptly left to go elsewhere. But not one word of apology from anybody about lack of food . Would not advise anybody to book here without checking on the day if they have enough food. Never again for us.

This is our second visit to the pyewipe and we absolutely love the place ! The location is great right next to the river in a beautiful setting and still closed enough to the centre and other attractions to be convenient. The rooms where very clean, comfy and well maintained. The food was great and service very polite friendly and relaxed. We will definitely be returning again .

Attended a party night and had a great night. Being picky, although the food was good did feel it wasn't finished off. Pate without enough bread and no garnish.1 piece of carrot three sprouts and a half parsnip isn't a vegetable portion. Frozen pudding OK but again no cream coulis or garnish to elevate the presentation. Just thought a place known for it's good food would have done the extra

We went for Sunday lunch, and they were busy but the staff were either over attentive - asking to take a drinks order within a minute of us being seated; asking to clear whilst one of us was still clearly eating, as in cutlery in hand; food on plate and chewing a mouthful; or completely absent and not available to ask for a glass of water or a small extra jug of gravy. One of our party requested for coffee to be served with dessert...it came immediately and was cold before puddings appeared. There was also an extremely long - nearly 30 minute wait - between starters and entree being served, which is fairly unacceptable. Don't get me wrong, we didn't want to be rushed, but 30 minutes between course is 20 minutes too long. When booking we asked for a "birthday plate" for our daughter's dessert....which didn't happen. As I said, they were busy, but attention to the small stuff like the above mentioned goes a long way to assure a return visit. The food was acceptable for the money, although there were a few issues the kitchen should address - seeds still in the apple slices that came with the black pudding and poached egg; and a pheasant breast that was so dry it was impossible to cut with a knife let alone chew. Unsure if we'd return at a weekend as the service during the week is completely different.

On arrival at the Pyewipe Inn, i found it to be quiet, with plenty of parking and reasonably clean and tidy. The restaurant was fairly busy and although the menu has a number of choices for mains, I thought some further traditional pub meals would be good e.g. fish and chips and sausages and mash and maybe some burgers. However the meal was fine, it was a little disappointing that the waiter brought the wrong bill over and I only spotted it after we paid. Breakfast was ok, I think the pricing should suit what you want rather than a fixed price. £15 can be quite expensive if not having a full English. The room in the lodge opposite the main bar and restaurant was a good size, comfortable and had the things you would expect Inc TV, iron, tea and coffee, desk and chair and ensuite bathroom. The only thing that let it down was the tissue paper stuffed in the broken trickle vent of the window (doesn't look good!) and the extractor fan in the bathroom clearly required cleaning.

We called in for food after visiting relatives in Lincoln. Beautiful location and building. We were a little cold and felt perhaps it was time to get the fires going. Service was polite, friendly and relaxed, although I did feel we could have been offered drinks service a little more often. The food was nothing short of amazing! I (and my brother)had a pie from the specials board - I never usually order pies - but so glad I did! It was a work of art. The pastry was perfect, crisp but not crumbly, soft but not chewy. Not too thick - which left more room for the amazing filling (steak, ale and mushroom) and definitely not the dreadful pie bowl with a puff pastry lid. My sister had the sea bass and enjoyed every single mouthful. The sides that came with the meals were perfectly balanced. And then - joy of joys - they had a cheese selection on the dessert menu. I rarely find this option available now and it's a mainstay for many. It was completely perfect. With several pots of tea, cokes and about 4 pints of beer, we thought it incredibly reasonable when the bill was less than £80. Amazing food. Cannot wait to return. Highly recommend.

I don't recommend it, the service was not nice, even stupid. There was a dead mouse under the bed in the room. The breakfast was very modest as for this price a child wouldn't be able to eat enough.

I have been to the Pyewipe several times over the years and it’s always a nice place to visit. Food is perhaps on the more pricey side but is very good. The setting is the main benefit here, right next to the river with lots of walks around it so a great place to work into a nice walk. Plenty of parking available and they do host events.

There were a number of issues with the Pyewipe. The experience initially booking was positive however the on the day, Chris couldn't be found to clarify the extra £400+ expense for the rooms. Called months back to make sure all was paid for and were told it had been so the extra expense was a huge surprise. Approaching people at half 11 at night to hand out a spurious key for a room for someone not on the guest list or demanding payment of rooms that had already been paid for was very curious. In the morning it became apparent that there were guests who had bed bug bites. One guest even managed to capture a photo but it seems a survey was done the very next day suggesting all guests bitten by bed bugs must have been making it up. At breakfast Chris did make an appearance and one of our guests explained about the bed bugs and asked for a refund which was agreed. This has still not come through. The administration of all those who had paid for breakfast seemed lacking and some were charged again with one couple being charged three times. It's either all those guests who had a bad experience are either making it up or this simply was what they experienced. I wouldn't recommend this place to stay over or hold your wedding celebration in.

It's very disappointing... so many months of planning only to be let down. On arrival, I was told I needed to pay £665 for my room, and my daughter in law was asked for the same amount. The young girl argued with us all about payment and could not grasp that we were all paying separately. She had to get another member of staff to help. To top it all, towards the end of the evening, I was confronted by a member of staff who insisted I had not paid for my room. I explained I had, but he insisted I owed payment. I asked why, he said your name is Linda and I can't let you go to your room without paying. The room number was not mine....it was in fact someone else. I felt humiliated in front of other people. When he realised he had the wrong person, he walked away. Didn't even apologise. Came down to breakfast only to be confronted that we had not paid yet again....I fortunately had the receipt to show I had paid £130. We were finally allowed to get into breakfast. The staff were rude from the time of booking in to checking out. Even the cleaners were rude. Clearly there needs to be some staff training on people skills. We came away covered in bites. These were not mosquito bites....they were in fact bed bugs. Huge red swollen lumps. Turns out the whole party (fully booked rooms from the wedding guest) had all experienced the same thing, and all had pictures to prove it. Including pictures of the bugs. Would I go back....NO Would I recommend..NO

Visited this weekend for a friends wedding, whole experience was a joke from start to finish, firstly I booked and paid for our room over the phone, I advised I has 2 children hence why we were given a twin room with 2 double beds, we were also told breakfast was included in the price, on arrival we picked up our keys and was asked if we would like to add breakfast to our stay, after arguing for 10 mins that we had already paid this we ended up paying an extra £30 otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten the breakfast, wedding party was utterly fantastic but was nothing really to do with the hotel, after sleeping in their rooms all night my whole family woke up covered in bites children included, upon closer inspection videos of the bed bugs to prove it!!! The hotel deny and do not care whatsoever, they don’t want to know, the next morning we came down for breakfast and was charged AGAIN, I asked why and was told the reason is we only paid for 2 adult breakfasts not the children, but yet they knew our room was booked for 4 but say the charge was only for 2 breakfasts, the charge that we had already paid TWICE!!! Upon speaking to other guests we found out that they had done similar things to many in order to get more money out of guest. Ohhh and nearly the entire wedding party is covers in bed bug bites! Absolutely discusting!!!

Sadly we had a poor experience here last night. We were looking forward to trying the food but found the menu very limited. Not many healthy options and no vegan choices or salads. The restaurant was pretty quiet but they squeezed us in between to other groups which made the experience less pleasant. Then my haddock goujons were very overcooked and very chewy and had been deep fried, partners prawns were nice and he enjoyed them. We both had fillet steaks which were nice cuts of meat cooked well but they brought the wrong sauce out for me and my partners blue cheese sauce was like water and didn't taste of blue cheese at all. Also mushrooms were deep fried which made them chewy and greasy. Were hoping to find a nice food pub to take friends and family to so were disappointed. Pub is in a good location with lots of outside seating so would still go for drinks but wouldnt take people for food again.
