Great little place. Had the tattie shack, delicious breakfast with a twist, great mixture of tradition and spices. Excellent value and really nice people in a non rushed relaxed atmosphere. 👍

Really friendly service and delicious veggie / gluten free breakfast. Nice outdoor seating area out the back, plus lots of community events on their busy calendar. Great spot!

Popped in as I was in the area , been before and can’t fault the selection of food on offer which is always full of flavour. I had the frittata , when asked any salad I’m not keen on, you can tell why from the photo, you get a huge variety of salad with your meal unlike other places which just add a bit of lettuce and tomato. Money well spent and worth it. Coffee is superb too!

Had a beautiful breakfast this morning - nothing was too much trouble and the food was excellent quality and well cooked. Also got some advice on local walks which turned out to be fantastic too. Winner all round.

Very nice, good/excellent coffee. Food was very good too (except the thin slice of black pudding could have been 4x as large in my opinion). My only small gripe is the service. It's slow. Which is to be expected when there's just one person in the kitchen, your genial host. I'd return but would most certainly factor in the wait next time.

Good selection of fresh homemade food & cakes. Nice coffee too. I stopped for lunch and had the vegan shakshouka, which was tasted amazing & full of a variety of flavours. Highly recommend.

Our new favourite place to visit! Small and cosy with a lovely garden growing a small selection of home grown fruit, veg and herbs which was mind blowing and fantastic to see! Food was absolutely faultless and what a lovely touch with the purple carrot plates 💜 Staff are friendly and welcoming with a good sense of humour. 10/10 would definately recommend! 🌟

Best breakfast in town! Delightful local gem. Amazing breakfast! I’m veggie gluten free and dairy free as well and I am never disappointed with the food here which I don’t find at other local cafes! The owner-chef is sooo friendly and is never short of a story and the waitress is polite and very helpful. They source local fresh and decent ingredients and grow some of their own on the terrace as well. I have read about slow service in the earlier posts, I would say come here to enjoy the friendly local vibe and for the best breakfast in Hassocks , freshly made to order and enjoy the local feel! The purple carrot also hosts various evening events too.

The best full English I've ever had. My sister had a shakshuka for the first time outside of Israel and it was amazing. Very generous portions. Will definitely visit again.

A truly wonderful menu full of veggie and vegan options, as well as meat options. I had a delicious mix of nachos/Buddha bowl with chickpea and tomato curry, veggies, fresh dill, houmous, sour cream and an iced coffee. We ate outside at the front and watched the world go by. The location is great for access to hassocks train station as its less than 100m from the south bound platform. I believe there is a delightful garden at the back too, but we didn't explore that. I can highly recommend the purple carrot as a great place to stop for a drink, a snack or a full meal. They are fully licensed for alcohol too. Can't wait to go back!

Just enjoyed another fantastic meal, with friends, at the Purple 🥕. Delicious smoky BBQ style jackfruit wrap followed by homemade warm Marmalade Cake & Vanilla Ice cream. Absolutely delicious 😊, as always.

We went to the outdoor seating area of The Purple Carrot with 2 friends this evening for our first meal and social drinks post-lockdown. The owner has gone to considerable effort to make it covid safe with plastic partitions, which gave our group a feeling of cosiness on a cold night. The pretty lights and heaters under the gazebo add to the ambience and we enjoyed wine, a delicious local cheese platter and halloumi burgers. Thankyou for a lovely evening 💕 🍷 🧀

I've been coming to this place for the last 4 weeks now and I love it. The food is great, the service is excellent and very friendly, with a personal touch. I highly recommend The Purple Carrot and will be going back as soon as lockdown is lifted.

i couldnt comment on the food as we didn't get a chance to eat it. The gentleman and young girl were plesent on entry and took our order. 3 coffees, 3 slices of cheese cake. All already prepared with exception of making 3 coffees. After over 30 minutes of waiting with no interaction and hearing the people next to us had waited over 1hr with the same experience, we decided to leave and find somewhere else. There was a small selection of cakes and 3 people working, but speed and service was clearly not managed to perform as a cafe would need to for service. A very dissapointing visit.

Friendly local cafe with interesting and varied food.

Me and the girls love this cute little cafe, the service is super adorable and the milkshakes there are amazing! It's somewhere you can wind down and relax in. Much better than anywhere else I have ever been for a beverage. Yet to try the delicious food there however, it sure is on the horizon. Peace, Hayley (and the ladies) x.

A wonderful Cafe! Best Coffee in town! in fact the best coffee I had in a very long long time I balance of good grains and good craftsmanship .Free Wife (fast and not given in a drip like other establishments) Events and sense of community : Play games, watch films, Quiz night, pop night, meet up for a run!! Cosy makes you feel like stay and read one of the many books available. Food: nice curries/ soups and all sorts of snacks. Overall Very good value for money. I am not related to or know the owner but I have truly become a huge fan !

An absolutely fabulous institution. A great place to while away the time with a top notch coffee and lovely snack. I've also had a goodly number of their main courses and they're always utterly scrumptious.

Open late, good selection of wines and other alcoholic beverages. A fantastic cafe.
