Great little pub. We had a pint and a meal there on Saturday evening before going to a gig. The food was really good. We ordered a starter of Thai style fishcakes with a portion of skin on potato chips and a vegan burger. A reply pleasant chap called Charlie came over after we finished to ask if the food was ok. We told him that all was very pleasant, no complaints except for the fries that were served with the burger (they were a little cold). Much to our surprise he reduced the bill by 10%. That was truly not expected. How is that for exceptional customer service! We would recommend if you are in Bristol, really worth a visit. Thank you Charlie.

Great place to chill and get some beer or cider. They show football and possible other games(not too sure, the bar staff is friendly and helpful. And if you manage to get before 8 on so you could get the pay hours offer for Amstel or Teachers inches for £3.50. Great spot for drinks inside or outside - street seating area or garden area.

Had the macaroni and garlic bread,awful. Kids portion for £11.95! dry, tasteless,no sauce and garlic bread was hard. No roast dinners either.

One of my favourite pubs for a quiet drink/pre drinks. The staff are friendly. I like the music they play - a lot of times it's been hip hop 😎 The atmosphere's been nice, even when they have the sports playing. The garden's a decent size and some areas have heated lights. Yet to try the food, and need to try more of the cocktails!

I just drank the Phillip shake ooh that sounds delicious do u want the Phillip yes its so nutritious if I drink it will it be a big mistake why would you ever think that. Very busy on a Sunday afternoon. Good service and a decent pint or five of Hanlon's Yellowhammer. I did not eat there, but plenty were. Big TV screens for the football. Pleasant people to talk with. I would go again.

One of our favourite places for a Sunday roast in Bristol.

We came for food but were to late but stayed for a drink anyway. The staff are friendly and welcoming. There is no designated parking on the main road for the Punchbowl but there are multi storey carpark near by or get the bus there. Not sure if the time of year or weather has a part to play but the toilet floors were a bit slippery. ( 28th Feb )

I went for dinner tonight and the burger was ridiculously awful. I don't believe that the chef didn't realise that the bun was as stiff as a rusk but probably they didn't care. More suspiciously was that nobody came to us to check how the food was. I didn't have enough time to complain but definitely won't return.

Awful Sunday roast the pork belly slice was so thin you could see through! Dry af Yorkshire pudding. Lack of gravy .even my 5 yo boy will still hungry after such a small roast. Quality ok but not a clue how to make a decent roast

Had the chicken, 15 pounds , was the smallest portion I've ever had , literally my 5 year old boy could have finished it.

Ideal place to watch the football with so many screens both inside and outside. It’s £5 for an Inches which is a bit steep when Long Bar is just opposite and half the price. The burger and pint deal (£14) also isn’t the best value as the burger was very mid. However, the atmosphere is lively and the bartenders are great so would recommend if you’re sticking to drinks.

Stopped in for Sunday lunch and really enjoyed it. As an American, I can't comment on authenticity, but I can say it was delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beer and cider selection was solid. The Sunday lunch was the best I've had!

Such lovely staff and service, big servings, very reasonable price for the quality of the food - absolutely worth a visit I highly recommend going for their delightful Sunday lunch! Oooh and make sure you get the cauliflower cheese it was really good!!

The Punchbowl is one of the best Sunday lunch options in the city and everything I have tried has been cooked and prepared well! The newest head chef seems to know exactly how to cook every meal on their menu to perfection and seemingly never lets a bad dish out either, would highly recommend it!

Music was good. Beer was okay. It was a bit quiet.

Staff were quite rude when asked for a lager and black firstly they haven't heard of that next he said it's diabetes in a glass .. not what you want to hear from a barman.. place was clean loos were clean plenty seating in and out

Last sitting for Mothers day Sunday roast. Our table had all four options and all were first class! Tender meats, perfect rosaries and tasty gravy. Great service after what must have been busy day. Will be back again.

Traditional fish and chips - quite a high price, the fish is tasty, and the chips are one of the worst I've ever eaten. In addition, long waiting time despite the small number of customers.

Waited an hour and half for Sunday roast. Don't mind if I'm warned. No such thing. Refunded and went somewhere else.

I work on Old Market and we occasionally use Punch Bowl for a drink after work. A little before Christmas we were there for some drinks. I drink tequila, so I decided to choose a margarita from their cocktail menu. Once ordering my drink, I saw the bar server turn to their colleague and ask how to make a margarita. Needless to say what I received was one of the worst margaritas I've ever drank. It was incredibly sour and I'm fairly certain no sugar syrup was added to balance the flavour. But at £8, I wasn't complaining too much. If you offer a cocktail menu, all your staff should be adequately trained to execute those drinks. I then ordered a double tequila and tonic. I was charged an eye watering £12 for that single drink. My assumption is that I was charged for 2 individual shots, and then a soft drink. A double spirit and mixer shouldn't be billed as 3 individual drinks. It's a completely unreasonable price. I definitely won't be recommending the Punch Bowl as a drinking spot in future. Fortunately Old Market is not short of incredible places to grab a couple of drinks!

Decent ale and very friendly and welcoming staff. Asked for recommendations for a Chinese and the barmaid went round the locals asking for their recommendations too! First stop on my return to Bristol

Being a visitor from London, I wanted to try out the local pubs in Bristol. Despite it being a quiet bank holiday, there was a selection of good beer and the staff were so welcoming and attentive, plus the fish cake was delicious! Highly recommend!

Found this great little pub just around the corner from our hotel. Arrived just after the food service closed, but the kitchen accommodated us with a smile. Meal, beer, and service were excellent.

Their website says they do £3 pints from 5-7pm on Fridays. Turns out they don't.

We managed to get a table booking only a day in advance and I will Definitely be adding the Punchbowl to my ‘Sunday Lunch’ spots in Bristol. Delicious Roast, Beef was beautifully pink and very well cooked. Looking around the room the chicken and roast pork belly also looked great. The service and hospitality from the staff was great, we were even given a free extra bowl of roast potatoes as they had extra at the end of service which was well appreciated. No complaints here, would highly recommend!

A typical British pub in my opinion: serves food, wide range of drinks, outdoor area, allows dogs, and probably a dart board. Great place for: Adults - lunch, dinner, talking with family and friends Students - start a pub crawl around the old market / city centre area

It's been a while since I've been in here. A good decision to walk in when we were looking for Sunday lunch today. Food and service were both excellent. Visited again today (October 2022) and the Sunday roast was still as good. No starters or puddings on offer, but the roast is right up there with the best in Bristol. And still a proper friendly welcome from the staff. Great place.

Came here for a roast with mates and family. Staff were lovely however the roast was mediocre, if you want a roast do it yourself! If you know a pub that does great roasts go there, however this isn't one of those places yet.

Really disappointed with the roast. Pork extremely tough. One piece of tenderstem and 1 carrot plus parsnip. Yorkshire puddings rock hard. Great for £14 lol. Next time to the sugar loaf

Nice local pub, looks small from the outside but goes quite far back with a hidden garden behind. We popped in for a drink and some food as we looked the pub up on Google and read the reviews and they were all good. I had the steak pie with chip's and my girlfriend had the chicken parmesan both really good, would recommend.

Cannot believe I haven't been here before..friendly staff. Felt at ease immediately.will definitely be coming back..

Fantastic beer garden at the back - I have passed here many times and never realised it - worth checking it especially if the good weather holds, although much is covered and heated.

Absolutely gorgeous, simple as that.. how this place isn’t fully booked for weeks if not months ahead is beyond me.. first time we visited a few weeks back had the mouthwatering beef (cooked to perfection), this time the the pork (crisp as, & melt in your mouth).. Vege option has also stepped up to the plate with what my daughter described as one of the best nut roasts she’s had.. Top roasties, top veg, top yorkies, first class Sunday lunch 👌

First time here as we traveled from London. Nice little boozer, nice staff and small garden out the back. A nice little gem if you don't want a overly loud couple of drinks. Will certainly be back next time I'm in town.

Lovely pub about 15 min from Bristol Temple Meads station - we went on Sunday and their roast was excellent and the portions were very generous! Service is attentive and friendly. A good place to spend a few hours while waiting for the train which was our case, well worth going to from the town center where we spent the night. Well done to all!

Cosy pub with short but quality menu and an excellent selection of local beers. Specials most nights of the week but hard to go past the 3 quid an ale offer on Mondays and Tuesdays. Friendly staff and walkable from Broadmead and from many of the nearby hotels near Temple Meads.

Best Sunday dinner about.(X chef) Shame the chef is leaving next week. The new chef needs to do exactly the same.
