Felt that my food was expensive for what was served. £12.50 for a Burger you would expect something fairly exceptional however it was blackened and dry. My 3 year olds food was served on a scalding hot plate which I struggled to see the sense in. My partners Tiger Prawn Risotto was delicious though.

Unfortunately the two staff that served us were miserable. There was more food unavailable than available - apparently due to being in-between two menu's. The sweet potato fries were I would say old, double fried, and not very warm - of which were refunded on request as they were not eaten. The High chair was just so tatty- it didn't even have the correct fastenings and I had to tie a knot around my 18mth old daughters waist to fasten it- just buy new ones from Argos! Really disappointed.

Just the 2 of us for lunch service was extremely slow, starter ok after waiting more than half an hour for it, but the main!!!! How can you get fish and chips wrong? My daughters skin on chips were literally black, fish and batter very overcooked , I’m not a chef but I would not have presented a customer with that dish. Very disappointed felt sorry for the serving staff

Staff at check in were polite and friendly . The room was compact , dusty and in need of a good clean . Dirty cup with coffee in it and several ring marks , coffee machine but no pods , no teabags, fridge but no milk. there was a sign showing how to wash hands but no hand soap in the bathroom. Shower not filthy but not sparkling like a newly cleaned shower would be, however dried in urine stains and a pubic hair on underside of toilet seat . Bedding appeared clean but one of the twin beds was broken with a big dip in middle due to a damaged bed frame . Unfortunately this was not discovered until bed time as we had dropped bags and gone straight to the wedding. I Had requested a vegan breakfast which was confirmed by the venue at no additional cost. However on our return just before midnight two trays were found left on the floor outside our room door in communal corridor. Continental breakfasts of small croissant , yoghurt, cereal bar and small box of cereal with milk plus an orange juice . It was hot weather - milk in jars with tinfoil to cover left out in the heat- unsure how long it had been there. None of this was vegan so unable to eat it . No one at pub in the morning so had to walk to local co op for provisions to make a cup of tea. Booking said breakfast included- it is usually stated if only a continental breakfast so was already disappointing. On checkout no one at the pub and all doors still locked so had to push key through letterbox . No opportunity to voice any concerns . Would not recommend and not worth the money .

Having enjoyed the food, atmosphere and friendliness at this pub on numerous previous occasions, I will never return following our visit last week. The so called ‘manager’ seemed to be having some difficulties with the staff. He said they were all new, around 6 young people were serving behind the bar and taking food orders. However 4 experienced staff were sitting at the entrance indoors rolling cigarettes and observing the chaos.Despite restrictions still in place, only 1 staff member was wearing a face mask, no social distancing, the ‘manager’ who advised he’d been in the job for 3 weeks was very tactile with staff and customers, whilst nibbling on nuts while working. The food order was taken but the kitchen never received it, a staff member was sacked by the ‘manager’ in front of customers, who proceeded to argue in full view of everyone. A couple near us walked out when their food order was wrong. The ‘manager’ used the ‘f’ word several times when apologising to us, and when we walked out after 1 hour 15 minutes of waiting for our food, seemed only concerned that we wouldn’t give a poor review, and would we like to do shots at the bar instead!A shocking, upsetting experience which left us totally disappointed in what used to be a lovely village pub.

firstly when we arrived (which was 7:15) half of the staff had cigarettes and tabacco all of one of the tables. There was new people working, new waiters. so the manager said it would be a 20 minute wait. we said that was fine. we sat down ordered some drinks as well as ordering food however the women didn’t write down our order she said she would remember it. whilst we were waiting there was another couple across from us, the lady ordered gluten free food, it was not delivered so they left. we waited 30 minutes and still had no food so we ordered some more drinks, they didn’t come for 15 minutes so we went to check where they were, the manager said one of the drinks was disgusting so he would make us a different one. 50 minutes asked to check where are food is. the manager says the chefs never received the order. whilst we were waiting for almost an hour the manager had to fire two of the people who were working there. we could her the manager shouting and swearing. when we went to check on our food the manager was swearing at us, which is completely unprofessional. the manager said our food would only be 10 more minutes now after waiting for an hour. by 8:30 we left and the manager came after us saying our food is ready and we can have it now. we said no. he kept walking out with us saying that they delivered what they said (which was having the food ready within the 10 minutes). however by this point we didn’t want the food, we didn’t want to stay in that place any longer with the manager who was still swearing at us. finally when we got away he said f***ing s**g as we were walking out. It was very unprofessional and disgraceful behaviour from the staff and especially the manager.

Must do better if they’re going to get repeat custom.

The 3 stars awarded above do not take account of the difficult circumstances currently experienced by the service industry having to ,in many cases change operating systems and train new and perhaps inexperienced team members. Our party of 5 had booked an inside table for Sunday 30th May for a 6.30 supper but had been brought forward to 5.30 following a call from a member of staff. We enjoyed an outdoor pre-dinner drink in a well organised area with covered and uncovered seating and an outdoor bar but the small young team seemed a bit overworked trying to keep up with taking orders for drinks and food, delivering same, and clearing tables. We moved indoors at 5.30 to take our waiting table and found that 2 small parties were just finishing leaving us the only indoor occupants. By 5.40 our drinks order had been delivered and our first two food courses ordered. A small problem here as the nice young lady was unable to confirm the Sunday roasts availability. We had been warned during the phone conversation that there might be some shortage depending the afternoon consumption. We placed our orders on the basis that all was available. We were expecting a fairly smooth ride from here on as the flow of food to the outside seem to have slowed down. At approx 6.15 a young man appeared carrying 2 main courses. Whoops !.. He seemed unaware that we were expecting 5 starters. Not his fault I guess as he would only be doing as instructed at the pass. Just over 25 further minutes passed before the arrival, slightly sporadically, of the starters . These seemed a little ill prepared, perhaps understandably, and without any cutlery. These were generally felt to be potentially above average. The starters were consumed rapidly, plates collected and main courses 'on their way'. After close to another half an hour these duly arrived and once again with a hint of disappointment. The presentation was good but the food less so. The roasted veg was overcooked particularly thin slivers of carrot that had been over roasted and were charred on the curled up ends but then I think kept warm and allowed to go rubbery. The roast potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings were not crisp but decidedly hard. Most of these issues seemingly due to the effect of time on the food service that commenced some 7 hours earlier. We declined the opportunity to order a sweet despite our original intention to take all three courses plus coffee as the topic of conversation was becoming slightly negative.I would like to end on a positive note. I feel that a little more communication, training, and confidence invested in a young team trying to provide a satisfactory service would get the P and G back to its reputable best.

Booked A Sunday lunch slot for 6 based on the great experience I’d had here which I mentioned in my previous review.Starters were okay, not bad, nothing amazing. The garlic bread was lovely, but it should have been titled Parmesan bread rather than garlic as there was no smell or taste of garlic. Scotch egg was cooked to perfection, but the prawn cocktail was very small. The Sunday dinner trimmings were excellent but the beef was like shoe leather (overcooked).. Margarita pizza was very bland and the vegan pie looked like it had been cooked from frozen, not in house. Ribs and wings were pretty bland too sadly. We ordered drinks with our starter and they still hadn’t arrived after the starters had been cooked, delivered, eaten and taken away. It wasn’t busy from looking around.I mentioned the beef and the wait for drinks when paying and the lady apologised for the wait and started saying, sometimes with the beef, what happens is - and I just switched off. We ate it, we didn’t want a discount, it was a shame that’s all and our group will probably not return, which is a shame, as our last experience was wonderful.

Had a great meal with Rishi's tenner off. Starter of salt and pepper squid particularly recommended - it was generous and gorgeous. Had Caesar salad with chicken for my main course, I would have preferred shaved Parmesan to grated, and possibly a bit more Caesar dressing and croutons, however the chicken was lovely - warm and shredded rather than the huge fridge-cold chunks you often get. My friend had a duck spring roll starter and vegetarian tartlet which looked nice too.I was a bit surprised the staff weren’t wearing masks. Tables have been well spaced out. We went here for the 'eat out to help out' scheme on a Tuesday evening. From entering the pub the service wasn't great, no one really to great you, it was whoever was at the bar at the time. We booked outside dining, thinking it would be safer, but were told that there was no table service outside, so would have to come to the bar to order drinks and food. Being an old pub, there was very little room for social distancing at the bar, so be aware if you are booking here. The lady who served us drinks initially didn't apply the 50% discount on the soft drinks, which i didn't notice until it was too late. Then when i came back in to order our food, the different lady at the bar didn't realise there was a 2 for 1 offer on pizza's and forgot to apply the 50% discount also. I didn't hold much hope for the food, but was plesantly surprised. The pizzas in particular went down well. Service to the table was fine and the more senior lady who came to clear the table at the end was very friendly and helpful. So i think the junior staff probably need some more training in customer service. Overall, food was good, service was a bit suspect and Covid compliance could be done better. Would i return? probably not, will stick to the local country pub next time.

We were looking for somewhere to eat, and came across the Pug. Initially didn’t think would get a table a sign saying you had to book. My wife entered and spoke to Eddie, who was extremely helpful and said we could eat at a table in the bar. My wife called me in the car to say table available. By the time I had unloaded my disabled mother from the car, Eddie had managed to find us a table in the restaurant. He took our drinks orders and left us with menus. Drinks arrived and a very pleasant young girl took our orders. The food was excellent and the service exemplary. Eddie even opened a fire door to make it quicker and easier for my Mum to get to the Car. I can not praise Eddie and the staff enough. We will definitely be back. OK, I should have rated the good times we have visited but I didn't. Been about three times before and they were all good experiences. This time, however, was indifferent. Sunday lunch, I had lamb - fell apart like it had been kept in water and braised, hubby had beef which was over cooked and tough. Service was almost over the top with the youngsters constantly asking if us 'guys' were ok. Yet when it came to asking questions about the beers or desserts they didn't know. Was given the 'wrong' dessert menu so when we chose, we couldnt have it! Bill came and we were overcharged. Got that sorted. So, it was OK, hubby's starter was good, roasts indifferent and chose not to have a dessert off the very limited choice 'all in' menu. Won't rush back.

This was my 1st visit with family who had been before. There was a different menu, due apparently to staff ,illness,we ordered drinks first, having been to a funeral at the Great Glen Crematorium, however the service was so slow we were very disappointed as there were only a couple of other people in.We eventually ordered food, having debated whether to go elsewhere, but thinking that as we were now the only people there it would improve...wrong! another long wait for food which was poor by any standards.Fish & chips consisted of thin pale french fries.Other meals had stodgy bread, tasteless meat, with little of the listed sauce/dips...mine was served on a board with balsamic vinegar dressing on the salad leaves most of which had soaked into the wood, In fact the best item was the coleslaw served on the side The waitress seemed not to care,I asked for some water which was served in 'jam jars' when I mentioned it I was told they were 'trendy glasses' ...not a trend I enjoyed. On our way out we spoke to a gentleman saying how disappointed we were and we were told not to judge them on one meal......really?over 2 hours for a drink & a main course was more than enough for me.

What a lovely find , this former coaching inn in the village of Great Glen was a great find. With an excellent menu with a large selection including gluten free. Which suited two of our party of five. Friendly and helpful staff, made our visit extra special. Food was of excellent quality and quantity . Will definitely return.

It was a spur of the moment return to the Pug & Greyhound and it reminded me how good the food is. My partner had the chicken and chorizo pie which was homemade with lovely pastry. I had the chicken breast - beautifully and moist. Really friendly service and you are acknowledged as soon as you are in the door.

We had my late step fathers wake at the Pug and Greyhound in late September. And to say that everything was perfect is an understatement. I review this with the view of as good as things can go at a wake, as it is a hard time for family and friends. Nicola dealt with our booking and was superb in providing all the necessary information and reassurance that the day will run smooth. Definitely what you need in this situation. When arriving from the funeral the room was laid out perfect for us and the food was all fantastic. It was a boiling hot day so we did vacate to the garden which is perfect in the summer months and also had animals next door for the kids to be occupied with. A pleasant distraction from the meaning of the day. A young girl called Izzie dealt with us most of the day and she was brilliant to. She even packed all the things we didn’t eat for us to take home. There was a found out later another wake in another part of the pub being held around the same time as ours. I was shocked at how actually private it was and the fact we didn’t even know another one was going on meant that it felt personal and private to us which is nice to have on such occasion. If you are in the unfortunate position of using the Great Glen Crematory, I highly recommend this pub.

We booked for Sunday lunch but won’t be returning. Main courses nearly an hour to appear and deserts 35 minutes. Plenty of ‘oh but we’re busy’ too easily delivered by the staff, but clearly they book well beyond the capacity of the kitchen to deliver so they’re just greedy and aren’t bothered about the customer experience. If you do go try and get a table in the bar area. The restaurant is a racket of people shouting over each other.
