Absolutely recommend! The owner was incredibly kind and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were the best meals we had during our entire time in Scotland. Lots of trails in the town and guest parking across the street.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

We were on a road trip around western Scotland and stopped in at Prince's House (without reservations) simply because we'd just visited Glenfinnan monument & viaduct. We were immediately made to feel welcome by the floor manager, and shown into a beautiful wee dining room with a nice view of a babbling brook, then given a menu that was tantalizingly hard to choose from. My friend ordered the Grassingham duck (well done), and I ordered venison steak (medium) both with chips & seasonal veg. The meal was delicious. The duck was succulent, the venison was served as three slim, pink-in-the-middle, juicy flame grills, and the chips were chunky, fluffy and very moreish. The whisky honey glaze on the steaks was a delight, and the vegetables were done to perfection. We enjoyed the main (and the welcome, and the restaurant) so much that we decided to indulge in dessert. We were not disappointed. Warm, mouthwatering dark chocolate cake; moist apple crowdie sponge cake; and home-made ice-cream. I went with vanilla, my friend chose marmalade ice cream. It did indeed taste like marmalade but that made it a bit too bitter for her taste, but she was provided with a wee pot of honey to sweeten it with. We hadn't checked any reviews before pitching up on their doorstep, so we were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience - and especially the food.

The Bistro/Bar was very quiet, but the staff were welcoming and the menu tempting. I ordered slow cooked lamb from the specials board which was served with garlic mash and braised cabbage (very tasty). My friend had the seafood chowder as a starter (also from the specials board) Quite expensive (£8.50 for a starter) but packed with mussels and chunks of fish and served with home made bread. He also ordered the Stone Bass from the main menu, which was also a generous portion (compared to restaurants in England) and served with chips and steamed vegetables. We were both too full for a sweet. I would definitely return if in this area again.

Couldn't get into the recommended restaurant so tried this place and weren't disappointed, in fact went a second night in a row we were so impressed. Very warm welcome from the barmaids, both introducing themselves by name and asking for ours. No restaurant table free on the first night, so set up in the bar (on the second day were more than obliging and let us eat at the same table even though space was free). Fantastic food, the smoked salmon starter could have made a full course meal (for my partner), venison just melted away, Scottish charcuterie delicious and left you wanting more, sea bass thoroughly enjoyed by both of us. Portions of a size to leave you comfortably full. Would happily recommned

The fine dining in the restaurant is not always available, but that is a good thing. When it is on - it is second to none and worth going out of your way for. If the price puts you off, or the fine dining is off because it is out of season then the bar food is excellent. Venison stew as good as you can get, local fish (not my thing usually,) is terrific. Sweet courses are also top rate. As this is a hotel I can also confirm that the breakfast is equally good, with very knowledgable friendly staff. If you go west of Fort William, don't miss this one.

My wife and I tried this restaurant in Glenfinnan as we were staying at the nearby Glenfinnan House Hotel and wanted to try something different. There is a small car park opposite the hotel and we were impressed on arrival to be greeted by name. The young lady who met us asked what we had been doing that day and took our drinks order. When a young man came to take us to our table he said ‘oh I hear you have been to Rum island today’ and proceeded to ask all about our trip. Now that is top quality training and so impressive to see from young people in the catering industry. Well done to you both! The dining room has quite a number of good quality paintings collected by the owner over a period of time and explained to us by a friendly lady after our meal. Now to the meal itself which is a set menu. Quite simply it was a triumph of flavours using the best quality Scottish fare available. After an amuse bouche we had air dried Scottish beef with blue cheese, quince, beets, hazelnuts and herbs together with white balsamic. Then we had wild sea trout with lovely Scottish asparagus and a shellfish butter. The main course was fillet of Glenaladale venison, loin of rabbit with Arran mustard and Rowanberry sauces. All this was followed by a chocolate, cherry and almond dessert. The menu is £43.50 per head and we felt was good value for money especially as the service was highly professional and superbly executed. There is quite a good wine list with good choice. We have tried many quality restaurants in the UK and abroad but can honestly say that this restaurant provides beautifully cooked food served by professionally trained staff. Had they been able to offer a different menu we would have returned the following evening. My only slight criticism is there is not a great deal of ambience in the restaurant but this is rescued in some part by the art. All in all a most pleasant dining experience.

We were not expecting much and were absolutely delighted with the pork dish she served up for our supper. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the following day and had the same dish again after a very tiring day bagging another 2 Munro's. We have stayed and eaten at the big fancy Glenfinnan Hotel next door which was mediocre compared to Ina's wonderful disposition to her guests - she just makes one feel so welcome I would not even consider going elsewhere.

My husband and I ate at the Princess House Restuarant whilst on a recent visit to Scotland and would love to eat there every night. The food is absolutely delicious with a good variety of options. Best of all though is the friendly service.Highly recommended

Stayed here for a couple of days during a recent trip to Scotland. The food - both breakfasts and dinner - was exceptional. All the produce is sourced from local suppliers and is beautifully prepared and presented by the Chef/Owner. For a small Hotel they also had a very extensive (and reasonably prized) wine list.If you're travelling the West Coast and want somewhere quiet to stay for a couple of days - this is the perfect spot!

This was our Honeymoon Hotel a few years back and we always try and pop back for our anniversary, can't manage this year but they are so friendly we drove up just to say hello:)Delicious fresh ground coffee... and the home made shortbread to die for.Although we missed it on this trip, the food is absolutely fantastic. If you are passing DON'T - stop and pop in for an evening meal - restaurant or bar - you won't be sorry!

Stayed here after spending 3 days canoeing the length of Loch Shiel and out to sea. First impressions were very good and the staff were very helpful when booking in. The room was spotless and the big deep bath a welcome site....the water was piping hot too :-)Food and beer that night was brilliant and there wasn't a problem seating 7 of us.....staff were happy to move tables around for us. Try the confit rabbit and shoulder of lamb.....and those cheese boards are also very good indeed with all local cheeses.Breakfast again was very good quality with lashings of toast and coffee Satt in the conservatory looking over the mountains....thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will return without a doubt !!!

Having driven over to Glenfinnan from St Andrews earlier and making a table reservation ahead, this was a welcome evening refuge. Although other customers were eating in the bar (and some had returned for the second consecutive night), my wife and I preferred the more formal restaurant but evidently the quality of food is the same ie. very good indeed. Service at table, provided by the proprietor's son home from university, was efficient and friendly. Perhaps the restaurant is a little lacking in ambience but the food is the thing!

Very welcoming familyrun restaurant. The homemade bread looks, smells and tastes fantastic. We had some starters and a desert, game terrine and a selection of local smoked meats, the including duck was the most beautiful, full of flavour and nearly melting on your tongue. The eton mess was just like a perfect summer day.

We ate here the day after our Wedding and we're very glad we did. What amazing food! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We chose to eat in the Restaurant instead of the bar and sat in the conservatory which was very relaxing. The food was first class and we'll definately be returning soon.

Absolutely love this place. Everytime we are in Glenfinnan we make sure we eat here as many times as we can. I have only ever eaten in the bar but both the food and the service are beyond excellent. I can not speak highly enough of this place. If your passing then stop to try it. If your miles away... Go there anyway. You will not be disappointed.

Great food, drink, and service. Wonderful appetizers -the rabbit, hot smoked salmon, and the soup. Even the bread was great. The deer casserole in red wine was a meal to remember. Service was kind and gracious. Beautiful location, clean, well maintained. Wish I could have stayed at the guesthouse.

At this hotel you can have fantastic bar meals from an extensive menu, more casual, great for large groups or small, families or couples, or go to the dining room, I am reviewing the dining room but the same standards are applied throughout. From start to finish the dining experiance at Prince's House is superb. Nibbles with your drinks then kindly shown to your table where you are presented with an amusee bouch to die for, but please don't! I could eat a whole meal of these alone however what follows is worth living for.The quality of produce is excellent, all localy sourced, presented with skill and care. Staff will do their very best to accomodate any requests to do with the menu, are knowledgeable about what they're serving, polite and gracious.Altogether a lovely night out.

We went here for our evening meal on Saturday night and were very pleasantly surprised! Although this place looks a little old fashioned from the outside, the food was excellent. Lovely mallaig haddock with what must have been homemade chips, delicious dessert of eton mess. Then, as a final surprise, some homemade ginger cake with coffee! The staff were very friendly + made us feel welcome. The only downside was the decor was a bit bland, making the place slightly lacking in atmosphere.Would definately go back!
