Cake was really good, beer was okay - but completely devoid of all atmosphere! Best thing that made our visit entertaining was reading the Google and Trip Advisor reviews! (If you’ve been, you know they are truthful!)

Didn't really plan anywhere in advance to eat in Leominster and ended up here. Honestly, I wouldn't have bothered if we'd looked at the reviews in advance and were glad that we didn't as it was really nice! Today's special was a beef stew which was really tasty and came with a plate full of French bread and butter. We also got the quiche which appeared to be home-made and was still warm, great chips and a very nice salad which was almost a meal in itself! Yes it's very quirky but it's not dirty as some have said. Also agree that the staff are not friendly at all but they were professional and we wanted for nothing.

Have to say we ended here as our default setting was a pub as they are generally dog friendly. No pubs were serving food that day, so we discovered this place. They were very welcoming and the food was tasty and well prepared. and a nicer eating environment than the pubs we tried beforehand. Pricewise not far from what we experienced for a small lunch at various pubs in Herefordshire so no complaints there. Other reviews here are not that positive, some may have had other expectations, or the deli has taken note and improved? Anyway, we left as happy customers

Town centre cafe in the original offices and printworks of the local newspaper (hence the name). We stopped for lunch – a bit of Hobson’s Choice as nowhere else seemed open on a Sunday. The menu is mainly sandwiches and salads. We shared a ploughman’s lunch – three cheeses, pork pie, sausage roll, pickled onions, apple, bread, chutney and piccalilli. Two of the cheeses were, I think, Hereford Hop, Shropshire Red (dunno about the third). It wasn’t the most spectacular of ploughman’s we’ve ever had but it was all decent enough.

Firstly - hats off to the young woman that initially took our order, she actually seemed to care and wanted to help, but was clearly hamstrung by the battle-axe of an owner...who, for someone working in hospitality, had no concept of customer service. Our food was basic, poorly portioned and definitely not worth the price listed on the menu. When we complained the owner instantly got defensive and simply told us "we never have complaints, so it must be you!" Eventually after several minutes of back & forth (including the threat of them calling the police), they reluctantly gave us a discount...at which point we thanked them, paid up and walked out thinking it was over, but the owner then followed us outside berating us as we walked down the street. I have never experienced such a bad attitude from anyone in hospitality, let alone the owner of the business...someone who should have a vested interest in providing a good level of service for their customers. If you enjoy miserable people and poor service as entertainment with you meal, then this is the place to go - otherwise, steer clear!

Word to the wise, don’t go for a breakfast and if you do then DON’T order eggs Benedict. It is by far the most disappointing meal we’ve ever had. Two poached eggs on cold ham slice and toast with a drizzle of a cold sauce from a small plastic bottle. Think it was actually mayonnaise or salad cream? Overpriced in every way.

Toasted sandwich like an old roof tile More dirt in here than the inside of a hoover. Shocking prices for complete garbage - they should be wearing stripey jumpers & masks.

We called in for a coffee on a trip to Leominster. The town has chain shops but we fancied something local. We sat down and ordered coffee and one scone and cream and jam. I have to say the coffee was great. Scone slightly stale but served with fresh fruit. Two negatives. 1. It’s just scruffy in there. It’s so centrally located it has the potential to be fabulous. Many other local establishments were busy as it was 12 o’clock, this place was empty. Buckets in view just unloved. 2. The staff were so on edge. The older manager runs that place within an inch and the staff seemed scared of her. Jumping on customers as soon as they were in. Everything they did she micromanaged and it made us feel on edge. An old lady with a trolley came in as we were there and the manager went “why hasn’t her order been taken?!” The lady said she needed the toilet first. E very conversation was like an explanation so they wouldn’t be scolded. Shame as it has so much potential but too uneasy an environment.

Stopped in Leominster in search of food on a bank holiday and this was one of the few places open. I ordered Quiche with New Potatoes and Salad. I was asked if I wanted my quiche hot which I did and it came out cold. The new potatoes, well let's just say there was nothing new about them, it seemed like they had been reheated about 4 times, they were wrinkly, dry and floury. The quiche was cold and flavourless and the salad looked to have been assembled by a child. I've never been to a restaurant or cafe and not eaten the food before, but I did here it was completely disgusting. My girlfriend had the beef stew which she said was good. To top it all of I still paid full price for the meal and drove back to London hungry. Never again. Don't be fooled by the 4.3 star review, that's all I can say.

Very poor experience - called in on NYE to grab some lunch with my family. The two young girls had faces like long weekends and were very unwelcoming. Ordered coffee when we arrived and also requested food menus. 40 minuets later and 2 tables who arrived about 20 minuets after us had their orderers taken for food , the young waitress who was serving glanced over at our table several times but didn’t bother to come over and take our order , she looked lazy , lethargic and uninterested. Staff need some happy pills and a good kick up the backside! Paid for the coffees and left and certainly won’t be returning ! Walked over the road to a proper establishment the Flying Dutchman was served immediately , staff were friendly and attentive , maybe the owner should send them here for some training and see exactly what good customer service looks like!

Bizarre atmosphere that can only be described as unwelcoming. The tables are crowded together with the best seats taken up by the owner and friend up front. Staff were rude and unfriendly but the younger girl seemed pleasant. I found a hair in my sandwich (which at £7 is overpriced) and took it over to the staff to mention quietly and not cause fuss. At this point staff refused to accept blame and were rude. Safe to say we will not be returning ... Not to mention the place was dirty, stairs, toilets and other areas. The decorations in the ladies toilets were disgusting and added to the overall atmosphere.

I like to write a review without reading other people's experience but as my experience was poles apart from the one star reviews I thought something was wrong. I couldn't fault my experience, the food choice although not extensive was good and what we ate was served promptly, fresh, of generous portions and tasted great. The service was excellent, the waitress being attentive but not pushy and the place was busy. The comments about it being quirky are correct and some of the furniture whilst being in keeping with the period may be a little uncomfortable for some people but we would definitely go back as is was good simple food and value for money.

We stayed here overnight and booked the restaurant for our evening meal. Lovely staff, in a lovely surrounding. It’s a shame it was dark so we couldn’t see the views. Nice selection of starters, mains and desserts and we managed to enjoy all three. In the morning, the breakfast menu was plentiful and the sausage and bacon from a local butcher were very tasty.

Pleasant and efficient service. Good value food with plenty of variety on the menu and a well stocked bar. Also dog friendly.
