Amazing Wetherspoons, a great head, manager,a Sarah your amazing.. so charismatic,staff well trained all of them,! great etiquettes a (PAM) however she needs a better attitude?!! this being towards other ethnic groups!! overall my food was always on point, hot, and delicious 😋.i hope JDW keeps on to this Lil gem, in the valley,its an asset to the valley. perhaps alil' hotel above 15rooms, only..as its situated, and not far from a newport.it could be much better, with the hospitality factor and combined, esp for wedding party's , birthdays, christenings, gatherings at Christmas 🎄a true benefactor in the local community and beyond..,if i could stay above,and cosied up with a hot chocolate,during the Christmas festivities, it'd be a great hotspot? especially for Those stopping over for the festive seasons.or just to get out ,in the fresh air.the altitudes are beautiful as abertillery has some great views, and a good bus infrastructure, theres cwmtilerry lake's, the tyleri river, truly full of outdoorsy pleasures.nature has its reservations! abertillery definitely wins my vote, for natural resources, ..(A beautiful valley, and in Scape)

Today we went into your pub me and my elderly grandparents. We got shouted at by a member of staff when we pointed out a item was missing off our food. Disgusting behaviour from a female member of staff who claimed she was the manager

awful. they served eggs benedict with stone cold hollandaise sauce. when I mentioned it they offered to microwave the whole thing . ummm no cos then the eggs will be overcooked. kitchen staff must be really thick if they don't know what sauces are supposed to be hot!

Chips was wet and soggy Absolutely disgusting, burger was pink and tasted like rubber The rice was all stuck together and really dry!! pompadoms was wet

Visited this pub on 8th December in the evening. Went there with my wife ,brother and sister in law. It was very cold at the back of restaurant and lovely and warm down by the bar.Asked if could turn heating up and was told they would but was still very uncomfortable. Not very pleasant experience. Would not be visiting any time soon.

There is a on going problem with the heating in this Wetherspoons pub it's either broken down and waiting repair for weeks on end or switched off because the staff are hot themselves. Customers are expected to sit there shivering whilst eating or trying to enjoy a drink where the temperature in the room is colder than the drinks they are consuming.

Have to admit I've not been impressed with the service last couple.of times I visited this pub. First time order via app got.mixed up and we were told we needed to give drinks back whixh were paid for and then was hold drinks I ordered was unavailable when I requested a refund by magic they then had them available......and yesterday I ordered a drink which was delivered to table 17 and then the manager asked me to get up and move so she could get past with another order for another table even tho she could have just walked around! That's just manners if u ask me you never ask a customer to move if there's another way round! Staff here really need a lesson in manners and Customer Services

Visited this Wetherspoons many times, always giving it the benefit of the doubt that each time the food might be better, but it never is. The breakfast is always dreadful. It either comes out cold or with something missing. We’ve even ordered two breakfasts that came out 20 minutes apart, but there’s never really any staff on the floor to speak to so you just have to sit and wait. Today the scrambled eggs were not just overdone, they were completely nuked. I didn’t even know it was possible to make scrambled eggs grey. Once again there was no-one to tell. I don’t expect anything amazing from their food, but surely the bare minimum it should be is warm and edible. It never is.

The staff itself is amazing, mostly. Hard working, catering to your every need, very considerate; especially a young female with dark hair. The management, however, I noticed tended to be awfully sloppy, completely ignorant and a little malicious towards staff. I doubt this is a rare thing for any establishment, but I noticed this first hand myself

This place is the stereotypical “Spoons” as it’s referred to here in South Wales, groups of men 60+ and over huddle in groups hollering unintelligible nonsense to one another, you’ll know if it’s aimed at you because they’ll throw “Love” in if your female.... all the men sit to the left of the door and surround the bar (probably to inspect the skirt ordering) and then all the women and families sit to the right of the doors. Staff are always LOVELY, polite, helpful smartly dressed in their uniform and genuinely working hard to keep a very busy ship sailing. Food is cheap and therefore so is the standard of what’s served up, no frills, extras will cost You £1. Great selection of beers and wines and options for kids, coffee machine is refillable so that’s a win. No car park attached and it’s on a narrow street so park elsewhere and walk in.

Popped in for a quick lunch with my wife today, we had 3 small meal sharers, half rib and onion rings, spicey prawns and chicken wings. All three meals were served quickly and were excellent. Kirk

A family celebration meal was booked. Bar staff rude. Food was DISGUSTING. Tables were dirty and not cleared beforehand. Never going again. Not good enough. Avoid at all costs.

This branch of wetherspoons is shameful dirty tables full of dirty plates and glasses rubbish and food on the floor some poor chap collapsed a by the stairs by the toilets staff did not move any of the customers near by and people were literally stepping over him to use the toilets while paramedics attended to him ,to top it off to women then decided to square off against each other language was terrible food was ok shame it used to be a lovely place to go now its quite intimidating with all the lowlifes of abertillery congregating day and night it's a shambles now just like the town

We never expect much but its getting worse! I ordered ribs and chicken. Ribs were ok, luke warm. Chicken was fridge cold, chewy and tasteless. Onion rings cold. Hubby had curry luke warm, ok taste. Tables were stinking dirty and not once did we see anyone cleaning tables (just removing plates). Toilets were disgusting! You can smell urine from top of stairs. Ladies 3 out of 5 had no loo roll, 1 that did have loo roll had urine on the floor! Looked like they hadn't been cleaned in hours. How on earth EHO can give this anymore than 2 is shock to me let alone the 4 they got.its a joke

The Pontlottyn is in a brilliant location in the centre of Abertillery and is easily accessed. It's a 2-minute walk from the nearest bus station making it a favourite in many people’s books. The food is good for the price that you pay but can have its off days. The main reason I and many others attend this establishment is for a afternoon pint and catch up with friends or a Saturday night out. The food options vary on different times of the week. They have deals for Monday to Friday. For example, they have a Curry Night, Fish Night and a Steak Night which offers a specific deal.The alcohol selection is vast and varies. Having a drink in spoons is cheaper than most places due to the variety of brands.

This is a regular place for works lunches - for birthdays and other occasions. As a Wetherspoons it is good value for money and as such it is always busy.The staff are always helpful And the food comes out quickly and hot. Good value for money.

This was the 3rd time I had been here to eat and had previously had problems with (now all visits)3 times had to speak to the management but this time really took me by surprise as my food was still frozen now please help me but don't they use temp probes to make sure this don't happen to be fair the waitress was very good and could not apologise enough but as this was the last straw I asked for the management she came and said I will go speak to the kitchen staff as she had only just got into work what that had to do with it I don't know but she took the 2 meals back and said she be back with new meals 10 minutes later 2 meals came to use but we're the same meals as I had cut my lamb shank to she if it also was frozen so now are meals had been in the microwave and yes it was hot but now the lamb was in shock and had gone hard where normal lamb shank just falls off the bone so guess what all I ate was the potatoes and veg not even the slight chance of them asking if I would like a drink (coke I may add) or my money back the other meal was eaten as my partner was very hungry at this point but I will now be sending a letter to eho and head office so this mistake can not happen again as it can be very dangerous to serve frozen food

I go here with a friend every week to have breakfast and coffee, but the last time we went there they had taken the coffee machine away from the convient place it was before and replaced it with a fruit gambling machine. They had pushed the coffee machine right over the opposite end of the room tucked in right against the bar, completely out of the way, now every time you want a coffee you have to fight your way through people who are waiting to be served at the bar and then very carefully manoeuvre your way back in and out through table and chairs where most of the coffee drinkers sit, I dont understand it the coffee machine was totally fine where it was, all I can think of is they wanted the gambling machine in a prime place where it can be easily seen as soon as your walk through the main door obviously to make more money, very disappointing.

I have visted Wetherspoons since it first opened and have always tried to support it.

Live 100 yards away, so it's always a bit too convenient. Decent menu, prices and deals great vfm. Good selection of beers, etc. Comfortable, friendly, good pub grub!

It's one of the better spoons in my opinion . Always clean and tidy and staff friendly . Food is always good for spoons never sent a meal back anyway so that's a plus .

Order two of the same meals (five been chilli rice) meals brought to our table, one pot nice and full with chilli other meal pot not even 1/4 of the bottom of the pot had chilli in it and was very dry and cake on to the edge of the pot to be honest looked like someones left overs, sent the meal back then to my surprise was brought back and it was clear it had just had a scoop thrown on top, send back again and asked for a new one to be made, this then took 20 mins no urgency, so myself and my husband came to eat together didn't happen we eat our food seperatly, and the cook who was made and served 2 the same meals for the same table didn't care what was sent out which was so obvious with the portions. Very disappointed. Girl serving the table very nice and very helpful. Maybe the cook should have the same pride in her job as the watress . Wiĺ think twice before eating here again.

When we arrived every table had glasses on... sticky dirty tables very few staff to ask to clean them . Had a nachos for starter no guacamole no jalapenos cheese not melted asked got told ingredients were unavailable. Had a steak and mixed grill both cold and tasteless. We thought things may have turned around after a fortnight before we had had a gorgeous breakfast. One plus cold lager although wait an age for it with 1 barmen 10 customers

We go here at least once a week. Beer is always great, staff always brilliant, food usually hit and miss with items missing or overcooked. Went here yesterday evening, sirloin steak ordered rare, cooked medium but without peas for some reason, my wife ordered chicken and ribs but came without the coleslaw. Chip portion sizes seem to be getting smaller too. Still a lot better than when we first moved to the area this time last year.

Good value for money, decent food and very friendly staff! We just love it here and make it a regular place to visit when in Abertillery.

Had the misfortune of coming here for breakfast this morning. Yes accept it was busy. We weren’t told at ordering that there was a 45+ min wait for food which would have been fine if warned. When it eventually arrived both were stone cold. One was sent back and the wrong replacement returned. When another replacement arrived it was just as bad......... stale bread doesn’t toast it just colours and goes hard and turns to powder when squeezed. The table next to us has the same issue all round a very poor experience which we will not be returning after

errr old partner is from abertillery me and john slade went there before butt dont know why its called the pontlottyn butt its in abertillery not pontlottyn, and if it was in pontlotyn i would at least expect to see the local boys there like our steve ph mclean our mr barker and our dai and the beer aint as good as in the fraggle rock alf does a good pint in the fraggle butt if you go to the bridgend old partner will buy you a pint

I go to Wetherspoons because it is cheap but not because the food is nice. Always disappointed with my meal there no matter what I choose. More recently they've installed a "serve yourself" drinks machine. The beverages are never hot enough from it.

My family and I came here today for breakfast. Firstly they brought me the wrong breakfast and when I then received my smashed avocado bagel, it felt like leftovers, the onion relish reminded me of the one served with poppadoms on curry night. The bagel was rubbery and the egg overdone and cold. My family's as equally disappointing. Worth a mention that we came here a few weeks ago for breakfast only be told they didn't have 2 of the 3 options we wanted. Over the last 6 months service and quality here seems to have been on the decline.

This used to be the go to for a hearty well prepared breakfast.

2 mixed grills food was poor, thown on the table by the staff. Steak was hard to cut never mind eat. Left most of it the staff member scraped the plate onto the other infont of us making a mess on the table.

Moved into the area some time ago and started to frequent this pub. Always enjoyed it for the atmosphere, cheap food and decent ale. Visited on Tuesday the 12th sept for a family meal, ordered a mixed grill rare, arrived looking like it had been nuked in a microwave. Ok, thought perhaps it was an off day. Visited again this evening, 17th September. Admittedly we ordered quite late at 10.55 as my partner and I both work in the pub/catering industry and finish late. She ordered barbecue chicken melt which was more like a peice of rubber, raw tomato and half cooked mushroom,, myself a sirloin steak and eggs, rare which arrived without the eggs, well done. Sent it back immediately and was informed everything in the kitchen had been turned off so instead had a refund and went home hungry. Doubt we'll be eating here again, a shame because the staff are beer are excellent.

Love the Food and Drink, they are the cheapest in town. There is always someone in hear every day, great coffee and Abertillery wouldn't be the same with out it.

We went their for our breakfast which is great. The staff were helpful and friendly to us with excellent breakfast food.

I popped in here for breakfast and was impressed by the value for money and the welcome I received. I will most definitely be going back in the near future with my husband and we will look forward to enjoting lunch and dinner too.

always popping in and out of this pub, cant get better service from the staff that work there, always made to feel welcome and there's always a friendly face to greet me, the food is quick and great value for money. the manageress takes great pride in her pub and is always there overseeing the staff and taking care of customers.

Decent food and well kept beer at a fair price....what's not to like! The open coalfire and recently fitted new carpet give the place a homely feel.

We eat her fairly regularly. we are never disappointed. the food is always hot. tonite i had the ribs and they just fell off the bone and the sauce was sticky and full of flavour. excellent value for money as a drink of your choice is included in the price

Good food and low prices on meals and drinks. Easy access for the disabled with toilet facilities for the disabled on the main floor RADAR Key controlled. Right in the middle of the small town with parking nearby. Good range of draft and bottled drinks tea coffee and soft drinks available. Small beer garden for smokers.

We were visiting abertillery and the friendliness of the staff and customers stood out a mile. The pub was very busy but the service and food was excellent. We had the streak club meals - sirloin and a mixed grill which was lovely and at £6.09 with a drink, very good value for money

me and friend went here for cider festival had few ciders and perrys on which were all pretty good did not try food so cannt comment on that

Pontlytton do amazingly good chips - they come with many dishes on the menu. I used to thing only the Belgians could make chips but the chunky Welsh Pontlytton chip is a definite hit in the valleys.The pub is always friendly and popular on most nights reflecting the friendliness of Abertillery. It's not a smart night out but it's as smart as you get in Abertillery. Jamie Oliver may not be about to open on Church Street but Abertillery has a great pub with very good pub food at very reasonable prices.

We visit The Pontlottyn on a regular basis. Always found the staff friendly.I have had many meals and I have yet to complain , I am fussy.One issue I have is that the place needs revamping, tables need rubbing down and décor refreshing.The atmosphere is good.I will keep on going back. Mr Martin needs to support staff and give them working environment to be proud of, these people deserve it.

I ordered Steak Pie to be told that they had run out, the rest of the order for six of us went through, a waitress came to the table to tell us that Cod and Chips had run out so my wife selected a burger instead. The food arrived in bursts and two burger ordered for the grandchildren turned out to be hot dogs so back they went and the kids waited for the right meal to arrive. Still no burger for the wife ( Cod & Chips substitute ) the waitress was summoned, went off, returned and apologized it had been forgotten, the wife waited on.Eventually the burger arrived and my wife was offered a free drink which she declined. I had booked a table for the following day but after a family discussion I cancelled that booking and used another venue, need I say more !

We come here very often as it serves good real ale at a great price and is usualy well kept. The food is the usual Wetherspoon fare but is well cooked and served. The staff work hard keeping the tables clean and quickly remove the used crockery.

The first time I went in Abertillery Wetherspoons I was over whelmed by the interior decor, much had changed since I went in there with my parents when it was a department store. I used to watch the overhead money capsules whizzing across the ceiling to the cash office transporting money and receipts back and fourth.Abertillery Wetherspoons has a warm cosy feel about the place, the staff are always very friendly and attentive to the needs of the customer, many times I have witnessed staff members helping the elderly back to their tables with hot drinks and even help some to our their milk, small gestures like that can make all the difference to those suffering from arthritis.Each week I have a traditional breakfast from the breakfast club, every time It has been served with piping hot food on hot plates, the breakfast is fault less and consistent every time. The filter coffee is amazing value for money, for just 95p you can get as much coffee as you like until 2pm, it's like being back in the 80's with prices like that.There have been some occasions where I had to wait by the bar area for a seat, it's well worth the wait. I hope that in time Mr Martin will see the potential of the building and open another floor in the old School wear department of the Pontlottyn.

The food is good not too expensive, with a friendly atmosphere, the meal deals are worth trying and the drink is included with some meals , if you're looking for a cosy atmosphere then this is you're place to be

The Pontlottyn is the only Wetherspoons in Abertillery and have a good location, right in the town's centre.The food was well cooked and the service was fast, like in almost all this pub chain's locations.The interior is nicely decorated with pictures from around the town.

One of the nicest looking whetherspoons I have been in. Staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. The food however is a mixed bag, some meals are great and some are poor. It does seem luck of the draw on some days.The reasonable prices do make up for quality sometimes but overall a nice place to meet with mates or grab a quick meal out.

Went here for the Mother's Day roast, the food was very good, so was the service and so was the beer.

As always had lovely food served, very good service by the staff as well! Great value for money. Look forward to the next visit!

called in here news years eve early on was quiet so getting served was not problem had few pins different real ales which were ok did not try food so cant comment

I tend to visit this Wetherspoon pub a few times a week. I find it clean and welcomming with an exellent choice of ales. The meals are always well cooked and presented.

We always enjoy any meal we have at Wetherspoons and when we visited The Pontlottyn, we were really impressed with the incredibly friendly service. We have never had bad service in any Wetherspoons we've been to anywhere but the staff here are THE Nicest. The food was excellent, prices are fabulous, atmosphere very relaxed and welcoming. We highly recommend this pub and will be visiting regularly.

Called in here after choir practice the other night. Like any Wetherspoons outlet it is somewhat cavernous. Importantly the local real ales on offer were in good condition. The décor is acceptable and there is plenty of seating for groups to settle down and enjoy their evening. The vibe was good and the staff efficient and friendly. Definitely one place that I will venture into again.

Partner&I had tuesday steak deal meal. 1 Angus steak and 1 Normal rump steak. Meal was faultless - perfectly cooked and top quality. One of the best meals i've had anywhere in the world. together with an abbot ale(me) and red wine(partner) a very enjoyable evening.

This was the first time I'd been into a Wetherspoons pub, least of all for breakfast. My son insisted I try it, and I have to say the service was excellent, the staff very polite and sociable, the breakfast was excellent and I will most certainly return to this particular pub when I'm in the area again.

Visited pontlottyn wetherspoons this evening with my five friends. Between us all we spent around 80 pounds, the attitude on some staff was shocking,miserable faces and no please or thank you's. when the food arrived my friend who ordered steak was shocked to find that it had a spicy seasoning which was not stated in the menu, my other friend was not given a knife and fork and had to run around after a member of staff to ask for some. I had chicken and chips and found what looked like a half eaten mushroom on the plate. All in all a very poor experience! Very disappointed.

This is just what the town needed all the usual wetherspoons menus but based right in the middle of town. Great food and a good choice of real ales and being in a large old building plenty of room.

Cheap beer decent steak on Tuesdays (steak night,)yes it can get busy but where else can you get 2 steaks & a couple or 3 pints for less than £20-00,nd it's right in middle of town.cheer's

We had a nice meal but they do insist on putting the air conditioning on full blast and making customers feel uncomfortable in the later hours.also you can get a alcoholic drink of your choice but can't get a coffee what happened to responsible drinking!!!

As part of the Wetherspoons chain the menu is reliable and the food very good value for the money. As a family group we can also always find something to please every taste. It's great the way they refurbish heritage buildings such as this one and reinvigorate a village centre.

This Wetherspoons has plenty of seating for the size of the building but is let down by being understaffed which results in long waiting times both for food or even for drinks. I recently waited over 40 minutes for food on a Sunday even though it was relatively quiet for a Sunday and there were only around 5 or 6 open orders. This could have been avoided had there been more staff on duty.Maintenance of the pub is also sliding, with blown bulbs, scratched and damaged tables, and ripped, tired seating in dire need of replacement. Even the fireplace which was once a nice feature seems to have been removed due to lack of maintenance.

went here last weekend, meal was quite nice (gammon, jacket potato salad) had to wait ages at the bar, always the case in this pub. couldnt help but notice how shabby its gone in here. scratches over each table and ripped seats. never used to be this bad

As my son lives only a mile or so from this pub wee regularly go there when we stay with him. Two of us are serious steak lovers, the third a connoisseur of fish and chips! The steaks are always tender and well flavoured and great value for the price. The Tuesday steak deals are absolutely unbeatable with super low prices but without any loss of quality or care in preparation and the fish and chips generous portions of beautifully cooked fish and crispy well cooked and drained chips. Just back from a recent visit and looking forward to the next time already

As far as Weatherspoons go this is one of my favourites, the staff are friendly and work very hard.As i only live down the road i have eaten here several times with friends aswell as my partner. The food is good "pub grub" the price is so cheap for a meal that is an average standard of pub food.The atmophere is usually quite busy but the building is big and layed out well so this has never been a problem for me.

Meals are ok better with some chefs than others , they also need more staff especially when they have party's in

Called for papers and breakfast. Porridge and Eggs Benedict were prompt although the pot holding the fruit compote was seriously cracked_ I took a photo of that as it was three large ones plus top to bottom split. Not a problem for me though. This area is similarly deprived as others but there is more evidence of investment. Having said that opposite the building are three closed shops( the worst being the Express Cafe) and a rather dubious looking Somerset Hotel.This has an attractive layout and when we called in a fair cross section of society. Lighting is a little short but there is a cosy feel to the place. A real open fire added atmosphere. Good value of course noting that the previous evenings Steak leaflet was 5.99 compared with Methyrs slightly over £7. I assume Merthyr s population are more affluent....a modest number of real ales_ the standard Ruddles etc and two Guests making five pumps in total.Coal mining finished in this area in the mid 1980s and the history of the area is recalled in the framed pictures on the walls. On a bleak wet day this must be a pleasant place for a meal

Unless deathly quiet, there are never enough staff on the bar. This leads to a huge crowd forming where waiting 15 minutes to be served is not uncommon. Added to this in December I was served 2 pints of 2 different beers which were sour within a week. The food is hit and miss. I have on occasion been served good quality food, however I have also been served multiple steaks and mixed grills which may have well have been called a soup for the amount of grease on the plate. Overall, don't go if you think anyone else may be out, stick to whatever beer is being sold the quickest and if you are peckish, get a pack of crisps.

This restaurant has a friendly atmosphere and staff.We had a very nicely cooked breakfast. I had the vegetarian and my husband had the Eggs Benedict. Lovely.Two nice hot cups of coffee were served. Great.

Typical Wetherspoons Pub.Food very hit and miss but the service is awful.At the busier times there's not enough staff and unfortunately customers don't help, simply scrambling to get bar staff's attention, leading to inevitable annoyance.The BIG problem is that if a customer asks for a coffee the server actually goes and makes it, taking one person off the front line.I've actually had to wait (along with a few others) because a customer asked for a spoon and some napkins, items which should have been provided in the first place.Sorry, but not for me again - in a hurry or not.

Fish and chips special - ran out at 8:45. Wife had to have 4th choice meal, staff symphatic and embarrassed a bit of a joke overall

This is one of the better spoons pubs. Food is usually decent and very good value. Ales are well kept and a good variety of drinks available. Good service and friendly staff. Good atmosphere.

If u want soles for your shoes order the chicken or gammon!! My husband likes burnt food & even he couldn't eat it! When we complained we got another meal 20 mins later on same plate with same chips on. So chips were freezing cold. No apology staff didn't even ask if it was ok. I know itd cheap but it really was awful. Don't bother

If your a real ale drinker & like a clean comfortable environment, this place is for you. The meals are great value, especially the daily specials, we use it a few times a week from morning coffee, lunch & dinner.

It is a typical Wetherspoons. Clean and tidy. Good choice of food and drinks. Staff are happy to help.

The steak,chips and coleslaw is my favourite and they serve the best wines !! my favourite being the New Zealand Villa Maria Sav Blanc and it is always ice cold in a lovely fine big glass !! what more could you want

I have visited here many times and always find the staff friendly and efficient. Customer service skill are spot on and the food is as expected ,reasonably priced and good value .Drinks are reasonably priced and there is a good selection of real ales .

Friendly bar staff very helpful food is great value and steak was cooked just as I like it would recommend this to friends :)

I'm going to keep this short, please if ur a customer at this place don't expect restaurant food, it's a pub with ping ping food how else can they get it to u in 10 mins or under? The kitchen is understaffed and they work hard and long hours .do u know the kitchen staff that cook your food also stay behind after a bizy shift to clean the whole kitchen.The food they serve personally I wouldn't pay some of the prices.spoons is a drinkers pub with food thrown in as a quick money maker off the drunks.

The new menu for curry night is very limited. My two favourite dishes are not on there. They always run out of your first choice and the poppadoms are greasy with pools of oil in them- not appetising! Ordered a panini which I had to send back because it was burnt.Great place to meet friends and have a drink but eat before you go there!

Having visited recently for food, it was very quiet considering it was a bank holiday. We were served promptly and the food was also served quickly. Service was generally good and the indoor area was clean and tidy.Food was usual wetherspoons, no Michelin stars but enjoyable and a good portion size for the large mixed grill and the gammon meals!Would visit again.

have visited this pub a few times now and the food is always rubbish. today i had the sweet chilli chicken wrap, the wrap was just thrown together, all broken into bits on the plate, and very greasy chips. have previously had dried up curries, and cold undercooked roast dinners. the staff really don't know the first thing about cooking!

Situated in what was previously one of the largest and grandest department stores in south Wales (Morgan and Francis), the Pontlottyn, as locals called the store, is now one of your better Wetherspoon pubs. An excellent atmosphere with friendly locals, the fare and beer are typical Wetherspoon offerings, so no surprises there, but done well. If you are taking in some of the tremendous walks and heritage in the area, this is a very good place to head for refreshment. Ty Ebbw Fach at Six Bells, close to Guardian, and the Coffee Bean in Church Street are also highly recommended.

I love this pub, it has very friendly staff and is well looked after. They have a great choice of local real ales and ciders which are changed regulary and are well looked after. The food is also of a good quality.. There is always a friendly atmosphere and the locals are keen to talk to you.

Went on curry day, the curry was excellent value and came with a drink, the service was very quick we had hardly got back to our seats when the food arrived. Noticed other diners had the same prompt service with what ever food they ordered and it all looked very appetizing The staff were very pleasant and the tables were cleared promptly would certainly go back again.

Well run wetherspoons. Good beer in a generally clean and tidy pub. Obviously basic meals but what do you expect - it's a wetherspoons.
