The Pod in Newport

People were realy nice but they said they had a break in and sombody stole the beef .you could still order beef but they made it up with chicken wich was fine but the beef I had seemed to have like a bbq or something flavor that wasn't right for me on a Sunday roast..I would recommend and I would try this place again 👍🏻

Trendy, urban-chic bar and restaurant... Food was decent, drinks/cocktails were great! - fantastic lookout over the river with two igloo individual outdoor dining pods... Great fun...

Selling County tickets that they were given for FREE, with a burger and chips and a bottle of beer for £150.00 (ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY POUNDS) Disgraceful!

Great welcome and service at the Pod yesterday before and after the Dragons game. We reserved a table for 10 to watch the RWC semi final and to eat. The food was very good, it was all perfect thanks very much.

OK, so you have a 2hr booking policy for Sunday lunch. So far, so good. BUT, surely with this in mind, you should bring the food out in less than 1 1/4 hrs, and ideally, hot? If you are made aware of there being a toddler in the party, a highchair should be ready at the table, and (this is the best bit...) be available until we leave? Surely you don't ask for it back part way through? The food was, in my opinion, mediocre at best. I had Dirty Roasties which were very bland, and cauliflower cheese which was delicious. The veg for Sunday lunch option was OK; swede & carrot mash was lovely, but the peas were cold. As for the 2 types of cabbage...can't comment on that. It seems that serving larger parties is an issue, family style plating is all well & good,but it all needs to come out together and in a timely manner. We waited for over an hour for the veg, then another 10minutes or so for the meat. Then we had to ask for gravy, which when it appeared was lukewarm at best. I'm sorry Mr Pod, but I won't be rushing back

Service really good.sunday lunch was awful though !! We went for the beef and pork to be served disgusting pulled pork and pulled beef which is their street food on a roast dinner !!!! It ruined the meal .only veg that was nice was the honey roast carrotts and cauliflower cheese that we paid extra for ! .chairs were too low,tables too high,tiny plates,music blasting n bisto gravy .absolute waste of money !!!!

Sunday dinner was awful. Pulled pork & beef that's not a roast dinner. Lovely staff over priced food and drink Toby carvery does a better Sunday dinner and that's rank.

Great location, tasty food and good drinks selection. The missing star is because they are quite pricey.

This place is a very unique and interesting place - something Newport needs more of! I came here on a date, with which the place's atmosphere was really great and put you at ease. I haven't eaten here, but the drinks (including cocktails) were all greatly made. The staff here were all very nice and polite.

Really enjoyed the food and excellent service. Spoke to chef Jay who wasreally enthusiastic and helpful.

I just wanted to thank the guys at the Pod for accommodating my family for Sunday lunch on 20th August. I had booked the wrong day,but despite being really busy managed to find us a table. Cocktails,wine and Sunday lunch was delicious,service was excellent and a special shout-out to Abbie who was wonderful. Highly recommended 😃

Service abysmal out of date beer ( Feb 23 on bottleneck) weren't concerned about it food veg brought out and 20 minutes later meats on a platter nobody knew who's was who's £4 for a little bowl of carrots 🥕 and cauliflower cheese can't cope with a large group and the prices don't ask Just save money and go everywhere

В 22.45 к нам подошли и сказали, что надо закругляться, хотя в сайте писало, что работают до 24. Смотрев на другие отзывы, думала, что классное заведение. Was part of a party for a family celebration this place is not worth the money they brought out the veg for 14 people and then 25 minutes later the meat arrived on a big platter nobody knew what was what my beef was barely warm and charging extra for cauliflower cheese and carrots is disgusting and the kale never showed up And also they sold out of date beer 6 months out of date when I brought this to there attention it was met with a shrug of the shoulders and eventually a bottle that ran out tomorrow So save yourself the money and time much better places to eat

Didn’t live up to expectations. Started badly as I walked in, waited to be seated but no-one bothered (staff were walking around). I had to ask if it was ok to find my own seat. Then waited for a waitress - none showed up. Seriously considered leaving at this point. Table was sticky. Found a menu and went to the bar to order myself. Waitress then comes over and says she’ll take order at the table. She was helpful. My burger was ok, nothing more. £15 seemed steep for what it was. Condiments in sachets seemed not in keeping with the place in my opinion. It’s just a confused place - order at table or order at bar? I was there an hour and watched five groups try and exit via a locked door. Surely the staff see these things and should do something to make it clearer?!?!? Won’t rush back.

Party of 12 waited one hour 45 mins which totally spoilt 60th birthday vibes food was great must of ran out of beef as not much on plate served ten on a plater different people trying to pick up these filled Yorkshire pudding which were dropping every were no spachla to use to may be get under them 86 year old and 82 year old bay pre book this should of been a injoyed day but were just glad to Strech legs and get home good food and set needs tweeking lose the plater boards not good all this is constructed criticism so you can maybe improve the way food is served up touching other food and have to pass is not good im dyslexic so any spelling errors I opplogise staff were great taste great lack of beef just maybe a one of

We booked for dinner Saturday 24th . We had heard really good things about the Pod . First impressions, we waited for an absolute age before anyone acknowledged us , we were taken to our table which was ready , it was a nice table however , the top was sticky, a really good wipe would have sorted this . Our waitress took our drinks order took an age to arrive , two cocktails they were banging , we then ordered food . When we sat down the waitress listed off an extensive list of what we couldn't order disappointed as a couple of them we were going to have . We settled on the asian platters with some halloumi fries . The food took an age to arrive however it was really nice we followed ut with dessert. My experience of the Pod , well food was ok , cocktails were ok but expensive but the service was slow and disjointed. This could be an absolute gold mine if it was restructured and focused . Would I go back ? Maybe for a drink however , the service and speed really lets the Pod down . It wasn't unpleasant, the food was ok but service is paramount. Newport market probably has it beaten now .

Different menu if you sit outside to inside. Outside menu not much on it definitely no good for vegetarian or vegan and you have it served in takeaway boxes. Inside menu great and tasty. All staff lovely and accommodating, except one guy.

Never been to the Pod despite it being round the corner from my work place / 15 minutes from home. Seven of us went for Sunday lunch and the service and food were outstanding. A must try.

Upon arrival, loved the layout pods scattered about a clean outside eating/drinking area overlooking the river.,the staff were accommodating, friendly and shout at to the staff member amy she was very funny and friendly, deserves a raise IMO. Food was absolutely outstanding and if you like cocktails please try the rio de janiero cocktail had 3 in first hour outstanding 10/10

Great customer service via email and face to face. The pod was welcoming and friendly. The outside pod was lovely and warm with the heater and blankets were provided. Music speaker to connect your own music. The street food was amazing and filling. We had a great time and will definitely be back, thank you so much 😊

Good vibe, plenty of cocktails to chose from, nice and clean and even more exciting when they have a live band. Staff are friendly and bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable.

What a lovely place, staff very friendly. Only had a drink here so cannot comment on the food. Although the glass pods looked in the garden looked amazing.

Had a great time at the pod. It was a a bit of a bad start, with a waiting time related incident for food. However, I have stuck with a 5 star review as the staff were excellent, kind and patient. The food was also excellent, a good quantity and quality. Will certainly return on the future.

Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Will be there again soon. Highly recommended 👍

I usually frequent this establishment for a few drinks on a Friday and Saturday. Finding myself free on a Thursday night I popped in for a couple of drinks and some food. The drinks and meal were amazing and the staff as lovely as always, My only criticism was that the charming bouncer from the weekends wasn't there to greet me.

This is the best burger and fries that I have had in such a long time… just amazing 🤩 I would fully recommend coming here… great music mix too!

It was a horrible experience. Staff very rude and racist. Tables can only be booked for 2 hours even on a Saturday. Got moved to another table and was told we had the table for the rest of the evening as that was a spare table. Half an hour later a guy comes up to me and told me that we had to get up and leave that he had booked the table for someone else, but we advised him we had the table for the rest of the evening. He goes off and comes back and stood there are basically ordered us to leave and that we come go across the road to another pub if we wanted. Bare in mind I was the only ethnic minority person there. When a table is booked there is a board with the name of the person who booked it but nothing was on this table. Will never ever go back. Worst experience ever. Only 1 toilet as well. Rude and horrible staff. Had more fun in the Potters across the bridge where I saw most people who came from the Pod in there

Been really looking forward to visiting for an age. However immensely disappointed, hipster bar staff more interested in the beard and waistcoats, impossible to obtain a menu with orders only from phone app. When ordered glasses were dirty with water stains, when asked that they be cleaned told that the do not polish glasses, by a barman whose aim seemed to be to belittle rather than decently serve. The burger ordered arrived very quickly however, and was tasty. The food poisoning from the burger arrived equally quickly the next day and was not quite so pleasant!! Really disappointed in a place that has so much potential and lifts the area. Can't say that a return poses any Interest😰🤮

Second visit and still OK. Downsides being very dirty glasses requested clean glass. my second visit to bar was another dirty glass..not good hygiene. Table of 7 and food put late for 1 which waiter apologised for . Very loud too with the music ,both radio and singer took over The small venue. Good tasty food though, and good drink selections.

Good food, though overpriced. Staff can be hit and miss. Expect cues for the toilets on busy days, even for the mens.

An absolutely superb evening celebrating our office Christmas party at The Pod. The service, food and presentation of our “dome” was first class. Thanks to everyone involved.

Went with my partner for a Sunday roast at The Pod and the food was lovely. The food came out within minutes of ordering and was piping hot. My only criticism is the plate to transfer the food onto could be a bit bigger, but 100% would go back and recommend to my friends, family and everyone! Can’t wait to go back another day and order something from the normal menu!

We used one of the outdoor pods and had the best experience in a long time. The food and service was exceptional. Christmas food to die for and we were looked after from the moment we walked through the door. Not a single constructive criticism...

A little bit of a wait to be served for drinks and food but the staff were really lovely really nice. The Sunday roast was amazing I wasn't hungry but the missus wanted to go out for dinner. I wolfed my dinner down it tasted as good as it looked. Sunday dinners highly recommended.
