What a find! We truly couldn't have picked a more perfect spot for lunch. Tucked away like a true hidden gem in the heart of our countryside, we stumbled upon The Plough during a drive, nestled right beside a charming old canal. As soon as I saw the sign for homemade pies, I was utterly convinced – and it turned out to be an inspired choice! We indulged in the lamb and mint, and the steak and stilton, and both were simply superb. The pastry on both was wonderfully light and crumbly, a testament to genuine homemade quality. The lamb filling was a revelation – so tender it just melted, with the mint offering a beautifully fresh counterpoint. The steak and stilton was equally impressive, featuring meltingly tender beef and a stilton presence that enhanced rather than overwhelmed. A special mention must go to the rosemary-infused gravy, which added another layer of flavour. Beyond the food, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a truly homely atmosphere. Their extensive selection of beers and wines was noteworthy, and even the coffee was excellent. A thoroughly delightful experience we can't wait to repeat.

We stayed here in our camper last night, free to stay as long as you buy food and drink. We had a lovely welcome and were given free choice of where to pitch up. There's a huge sunny beer garden and table service food. It was pizza night, so we had one each and they were delicious! I can absolutely recommend this place either for a stay over, or just for a beer and some food.

Lovely location and good food. I just wish they would take orders for drinks at the table instead of Keep having to go to the bar every time. Popped in for a Sunday roast, very disappointed, flooded in gravy , isn't it best to be able to pour on the amount you like rather than have it done for you. Veg were overdone, only two roast potatoes albeit it came with mash. Took a friend there so was very disappointed , ended up not eating it all.

Called in here on the off chance for a Sunday lunch after finding it on a motor home stopover app and we really weren’t disappointed! It was coming up for 4pm and it had clearly been a very busy service. The bar was still very busy and after a bit of a wait we were served by a lady who we now know was Kirsty. She was so friendly and helpful despite being very busy. She explained the kitchen closes at 4pm and to order asap. We ordered straightaway. Kirsty came over to explain that as the kitchen should be closing but they’d had a few late tables drop in they were cooking a fresh batch of roast potatoes and we would be waiting about 1/2 an hour. We were quite happy with this and impressed to be kept informed. The food arrived and wow it was absolutely delicious! The mini sausages we’d added on were fabulous and so tasty, the roast beef was succulent and cooked perfectly. A huge home cooked Yorkshire pudding and lovely mash and veg with delicious gravy. I’m very observant and also work in a kitchen and I did note the kitchen staff leaving after their shift and they looked clean and well presented (this is always a big plus for me) I really cannot rate this pub high enough for friendliness and superb food and service. Well done to all the team. We will definitely be back, and at some point we look forward to a stay overnight in our motor home 👌👌

Went for Sunday lunch and it felt very underwhelming. The two roast potatoes were chewy. They had clearly been pre cooked and not heated up fully (or microwaved) the veg was very plain and barely warm. 1 Yorkshire pudding, small amount of mash and the stuffing tasted like it was a week old. Flavourless and chewy. The pork was OK but barely warm. It's a real shame as it cost £15.50

I booked The Plough Inn for the hen do I was organising. We booked the table for 15 people. Kirsty and the team were amazing! The entire hen party had nothing but positive things to say about The Plough Inn. Kirsty listened to everything we wanted, to make sure the party was personalised, wonderful, and fun. She put our party in our own room and decorated it beautifully with the decorations we provided. A very friendly service and we recieved our pre-ordered meals promptly. The staff were not fazed by having a large party in the pub! The roast was delicious and the cauliflower cheese was the group's favourite- and it was agreed some of the best cauliflower cheese we had ever had! Really impressed with staff and service. Booked a table for Sunday lunch with my elderly father who has mobility issues and they made a note to give us a table with minimal walking. It was also very reassuring to know there was a toilet for the disabled. Came here for a birthday meal (group of 6). Overall, we found it below average and unfortunately wouldn't return. The interior was lovely (awkward seating at the table upstairs, trapped in by the window - had to ask the adjacent table to get in and out), but the service was quite slow, we were left waiting a long time for drinks and food. We almost cancelled our second round of drinks as they only arrived when we had nearly finished. One of our guests' mains was forgotten and only arrived after the rest of us had finished eating, despite asking twice about it, which was a real shame. When the food did arrive, most of the mains were lukewarm rather than hot, apart from the delayed katsu. Starters were fine. They did give a free birthday dessert, which was appreciated! Although that’s quite standard at most places. We had been really excited to try this place, but left feeling disappointed. I personally wouldn’t recommend it, although it may have just been an off day.
