The Plough Inn in Northumberland

Only stayed briefly to ask if they were still serving food. Barman was very helpful, telling me they stopped serving food last October (2023). Google entry states they still serve and all the signs outside say they serve food. Take them down so that us hungry travellers don't go out of our way to find you. Thanks again for the tips of where I might find somewhere to eat

A true community pub, dog friendly, good beer and most excellent hosts

Always a great place to visit. Welcoming atmosphere and country feel.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon after walking the dogs. It is a lovely pub with friendly people. Service was prompt and attentive.

I called in on Christmas Eve at lunch time while completing a walk from Morpeth through Mitford and back round to Morpeth. It was my first time calling in despite having passed it multiple times on other walks. Lovely atmosphere when entering and always great to see dogs in a pub who can wander around and mooch (for me, anyway). Lovely, warm, nice feel and a pleasant pint of Stella, too. Like Arnie said, I’ll be back.

Proper village Pub. Nice mix of locals and visitors. Friendly welcome from all especially the owners and lovely staff. The food was exceptional and the beer was very nice. What more could you ask for?

Cosy comfortable pub, good ales and the roasts were great, generous size, big Yorkshires, overall very tasty. All the staff are so friendly and helpful and it's dog friendly which is great.

The food was minging cold overcooked reheated roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and the veg was raw expensive horrible food

Incredible food, the chef was a finalist on masterchef. George the dog is adorable. Kat and Michael, the owners, are lovely, calm and happy. There is WiFi but no phone signal. Everyone that visits the pub from the local area are very friendly. A true little gem in the Mitford/Morpeth countryside.

Great pub run by a lovely couple with a lot of care for the food they serve accompanied by some brilliant pints. The atmosphere is friendly and local. A treat at the end of a nice walk or cycle.

Wonderful Sunday lunch. We had the roast beef, there was a big plate full and separate bowl of vegetables. Lovely welcoming staff and a very friendly atmosphere. Recommend a visit if in the area.

Called today for lunch, lovely pub good atmosphere, a good pint of real ale (local) The food was excellent, we both had a different risotto, sent compliments to the chef. Will certainly be back for more The pub dog (George) is very social as well as the three other dogs that were there today.

Brilliant pub in a village setting. With a quaint feeling to it, there's a lot of history behind this pub! Owner behind the bar is very friendly and let me sample one of the beers before I ordered a pint of it. Resident dog, George, is a credit to the team and so, so friendly. We wanted to order food but the pub is currently without a chef. However we were informed that they are in the process of bringing someone new in. Just means I have an excuse to go back to support this pub in the very difficult times. If you want to help support bars through this pandemic then please visit this establishment as it's got a very nice vibe to it and the owners are brilliant! The pub itself has a vintage feel to it and it's been a long time since I have had a drink in a pub that feels like a real pub. Thanks for a good experience to the friendly owners of this bar. We will be back!

Stayed in carpark in a motorhome. Made very welcome by lovely hosts and beers were excellent. Unfortunately no food available temporarily as new chef due to start soon. Will definitely return.

Very friendly service and good prices too. A good little place to stop for a quiet drink when out walking, we really enjoyed it.

We turned up as a group of 15 just after opening with no notice, and we could of not asked for a better service or more polite staff!! We had soup, toasties and chips and it was all delicious! Wish it was closer to home so we could go more often!

Called into The Plough for lunch on Saturday for the first time in years as I'd been living away. I had Chicken stuffed with stilton wrapped in bacon and my sister had the Chicken stuffed with haggis version. The food was amazing, there's a huge plateful, and they offer proper chips. Staff were friendly and so were the regulars. A lovely atmosphere, we'll definitely be back.

Had a Sunday lunch today, sat outside and chatted with the owners, the food was out of this world, the owners are great and welcoming the locals are really friendly, all I can say is go there and experience it for yourselves, its pet friendly as well, awesome place

Just had Sunday lunch here. The reviews are very misleading. The place is stuck in a time warp & scruffy. The menu was very limited. There was a good portion of meat but served on cold plates, nice Yorkshires but very poor roast potatoes. Sauces come in plastic sachets of the cheapest brand. The sticky toffee pudding was like none I've ever seen before & it was hard to know whether that was what it was or the syrup sponge also featured on the dessert blackboard. As if the food wasn't bad enough, the chef spent most of our meal sat talking, loudly, to friends/customers berating other local establishments & their landlords. Come on guys, my husband & I have been in the hospitality business for our entire careers & it really isn't difficult to produce a well cooked & well presented Sunday lunch with a bit of professionalism. This was thoroughly disappointing.

The food was lovely, very ample portions. The owners and customers were friendly and welcoming but the warmest welcome comes from the pub dog. Great value for money, well worth a visit.

really unwelcoming when I walked through the door - and I have no idea why! I spent the day exploring Morpeth and had hoped for some tasty food. I didn't end up bothering with these guys

Visited this place today. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend this place. The food was beautiful and the locals were very friendly also. It is a small place, with a big atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back.

Just had Sunday lunch with the family we had a roast lamb pork and beef all done to perfection followed by apple and pear crumble with icecream and sticky toffee pudding very friendly pub will def be back we booked in advance and had a lovely table at the window thanks guys

What a lovely friendly pub. Haven't been there for years ...and to be honest it was an unfriendly previous owner that has kept this place off my radar ...for too long. Didn't have plans to stop for a meal ...but the welcome from the barmaid and spamlet the staffie will have me returning again !

Laid back feeling with a well worn classic British pub interior. The landlord was super friendly and very welcoming to small kids. There was a friendly pub dog. The food is good and there is a small selection of local real ales from the Blaydon Firebrick brewery.

The gammon steak is lush it will make you want to come back again in eat the place out because the food is 5 star and it won't let you down

Great little local. The food is excellent! Try the chef's Indian curries - you won't be disappointed! Always a couple of local, well-kept real ales on draft too :) Working coal fireplace by the door keeps the pub lovely and warm as well. Bands on every Saturday night. Definitely drop by if you're in the area.
